    What is the best SQL query to remove any text within parenthesis in a mySQL database? I'd like something that works regardless of the position of the parenthesis in the text (beginning, middle, end, whatever). I don't care about keeping the text inside the parenthesis, just removing it. Thanks!

  • Query scope within a table trigger in an Oracle database

    I'm been trying to write a table trigger the queries another table that is outside the schema where the trigger will reside. Is this possible? It seems like I have no problem querying tables in my schema but I get: Error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist when trying trying to query tables outside my schema. The documentation seems to elude to this notion, but it's not 100% clear to me.

I was looking for a method to display hierarchical comments to articles like it happens in blogs. I'm also looking for a method that sorts children entries by date within a same level.     I'm creating a service that has read-only access to the database. I have a query cache and a second level cache enabled (READ_ONLY mode) in Hibernate to speed up the service, as the tables being accessed change rarely. My question is, if someone goes into the DB and changes the tables manually (i.e. outside of Hibernate), does the cache recognize automatically that it needs to be cleared? Is there a time limit on the cache?
