• Detect backspace in UITextField

  Is there any way to detect when the backspace/delete key is pressed in the iPhone keyboard on a UITextField that is empty? I want to know when backspace is pressed only if the UITextField is empty. Based on the suggestion from @Alex Reynolds in a comment, I've added the following code while creating my text field: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(handleTextFieldChanged:) name:UITextFieldTextDidChangeNotification object:searchTextField]; This notification is received (handleTextFieldChanged function is called), but still not when I press the backspace key in an empty field. Any ideas? There seems to be some confusion around this question. I want to receive a notification when the backspace key is pressed. That's it. But the solution must also work when the UITextField is already empty.

• Render html code in sql server client report (rdlc)

  I am using the asp.net web application and microsoft visual studio reportviewer control and rdlc for creating a report ( not using sql server reporting). I used the Product table to view the result. It has five fields and I display all the itemsin the report. One field is Description and it store the html code as the value(eg: <div><ul><li>a</li><li>b</li></ul><b>aaaa</b></div> ). I want to disply the output of this html code in my report's description field. But in my report, it shows the html value that I stored in my table (: <div><ul><li>a</li><li>b</li></ul><b>aaaa</b></div> ). How can I render the html in my report. Please give me a solution.

  I have a viewmodel that has an int StateID field and a string StateName field like so: public class DepartmentViewModel : BaseViewModel, IModelWithId { // only show in edit mode public int StateId { get; set; } // only show in display mode public string StateName { get; set; } } I have a read only view that uses DisplayForModel and an update view that uses EditorForModel. I want the DisplayForModel view to show the StateName property, and the EditorForModel view use the StateID property (I am actually rendering a dropdownlist based on this). I have not been able to figure out how to decorate my viewmodel properties to create this behavior.

  I have a list of Filemaker database names Each DB name has a list of field/attribute pairs associated with it I have a windows form application in C# 4.0 (vs2010) that wants to use the above data I would like to maintain the list either in the Visual Studio settings page, or in one of the standard visual studio settings files using the standard .NET settings calls I would like to avoid writing my own custom settings, xml, xds (to avoid the "Could not find schema information for the element/attribute " errors) I just have a slightly complicated INI file! I don't want to complicate my life! Do any easy solutions exist? Unless someone has a brighter idea, I am simply going to write string settings with names that indicate it's a FM DB (e.g. "fmdbAddresses"), and values that concat my field/attribute pairs (e.g. "gUserResult=skipField|gAddressID=convertToInt|gAddressID=uniqueIx")

• Query only the first detail record for each master record

  If I have the following master-detail relationship: owner_tbl auto_tbl --------- -------- owner --- owner auto year And I have the following table data: owner_tbl auto_tbl --------- -------- john john, corvette, 1968 john, prius, 2008 james james, f-150, 2004 james, cadillac, 2002 james, accord, 2009 jeff jeff, tesla, 2010 jeff, hyundai, 1996 Now, I want to perform a query that returns the following result: john, corvette, 1968 jeff, hyundai, 1996 james, cadillac, 2002 The query should join the two tables, and sort all the records on the "year" field, but only return the first detail record for each master record. I know how to join the tables and sort on the "year" field, but it's not clear how (or if) I might be able to only retrieve the first joined record for each owner. Three related questions: Can I perform this kind of query using LINQ-to-SQL? Can I perform the query using T-SQL? Would it be best to just create a stored procedure for the query given its likely complexity?

• jQuery jPicker > Assign color of jPicker from a text link (not from jPicker)

  I've got a list of frequently used hex colors that I'd like to list under my jPicker bound input text field and I'd like to figure out how to change the value of the jPicker active color without opening the jPicker color selector palette. I've managed to create a function that updates the input field thats bound to the jPicker, but the colors of the background and picker.gif do not update. I'd like to force the background colors to update as if the color was selected from jPicker itself. • Comparing fields of one table to other fields of another table

  Hello! I have a function called add_item which actually inserts values in a field item_name of temporary table called temp having fields temp_id and item_name. I have another table calleed item which consists of fields item_id, item_name, price. I have another table called quotation which consists of fields q_id, item_id,item_name,price. Now I cant figure out how do i compare the item_name from temp to the field item_name from item. And then, insert the values of item in quoatation table. Can anyone guide me please?

• NSStepper ignores current NSTextField value

  I have the same initial problem as described in Integrate NSStepper with NSTextField: I need to have a NSTextField working with a NSStepper as being one control so that I can edit an integer value either by changing it directly on the text field or using the stepper up/down arrows. Using bindings as commented on by carlosb results in a usable UI. However, in the initial question carlosb describes the following: Problem is that if I edit the text field then click the stepper again it will forget about the value I manually edited and use the stepper's internal value. This is why I am posting a variation on this question again. carlosb's use of bindings doesn't solve this problem. This happens in both the current project I am working on and a test project I have created. The test project can be found at GitHub. You can download it there (even without git) via the "Download Source" button in the top right. Is there a clean way to solve this issue?

• SSIS- Sharepoint list data transfer issue

  Hi , We are trying to transfer data from oracle database (about 60,0000) records only to a sharepoint list using SSIS. But we are getting following error when records reaches around 19000 . The attempt to add a row to the Data Flow task buffer failed with error code 0xC0047020 and System.ServiceModel.ProtocolException: The remote server returned an unexpected response: (400) Bad Request. Earlier we thought if could because of Sharepoint list limit so we tried by reducing two of the columns and then it has went fine. So we left with one of the column of Datatype DT_STR and length 400 in oracle beacuse of which issue might be happening, It is mapped to sharepoint custom list field of multiline type. We also verified if length of field is issue but in oracle DB for all records max length for this column is only 239 so length issue is also ruled out. Any one who has faced this kind of issue or knows cause of this issue.Kindly let us know.. Thanks and regards, Vicky

• Asp.Net MVC does automatic model validation for DateTime but no others

  I'm using MVC 2 with some Models from a LinqToSql project that I built. I see that when I post back to a Controller Action after editing a form that has a DateTime field from the Model, the MVC Html.ValidationMessageFor() helper will nicely display an error beside the Date text box. This seems to happen automatically when the you test ModelState.IsValid() in the Controller Action, as if the MVC model binding automatically knows that the DateTime field cannot be empty. My question is... I have some other string fields in these LinqToSql generated classes that are Not-Nullable (marked as Not Nullable in Sql Server which passes thourgh to the LinqToSql generated classes), so why doesn't Mr. MVC pick up on those as well and display a "Required" message in the ValidationMessageFor() placeholders I have added for those fields? Sure, I have successfully added the MetadataType(typeof) buddy classes to cover these Non-nullable string fields, but it sure does seem redundant to add all this metadata in buddy classes when the LinqToSql generated classes already contain enough info that MVC could sniff out. It MVC validation works with DateTime automatically, why not these Not-nullable fields too?

  Hi, i have a form where i have the field "Real Cost" i want to customize its appearance and wither it should be validated based on user role. to be more clear is say the client want to show his field in the form or details page and also make it editable for users in Roles "Senior Sales, Manager" but not other roles, so can anyone please guide me of the best way ? should i write custom required validation based on user in role, and if so can you please provide the right implementation of it? some may tell me create custom model for this, but i think it would be hassle plus the Roles will be dynamic so it is not predefined set of roles. i hope i was clear enough

I have integrate Facebook Connect with my iPhone app. So as per step i have to write path of src folder into 'Header path info' Field in Project Build. I have given the absolute path to 'Header path info' Field. and its run fine without any Error.. But, Now When i Move the project folder to another destination, its but obvious, that path of src folder will change… So Now after moving file, when i run an application, It gives path error. So is there any way to solve this path issue? this comes when i run an app in simulator, and i guess It also won't run in iPhone because of problem of path of src folder. For example. If I have a field in the create view called 'deliveraddress', how do I put that into the routes?   I get data in from POST and validate it via this standard snippet: entry_formset = EntryFormSet(request.POST, request.FILES, prefix='entries') if entry_formset.is_valid(): .... The EntryFormSet modelform overrides a foreign key field widget to present a text field. That way, the user can enter an existing key (suggested via an Ajax live search), or enter a new key, which will be seamlessly added. I use this try-except block to test if the object exists already, and if it doesn't, I add it. entity_name = request.POST['entries-0-entity'] try: entity = Entity.objects.get(name=entity_name) except Entity.DoesNotExist: entity = Entity(name=entity_name) entity.slug = slugify(entity.name) entity.save() However, I now need to get that entity back into the entry_formset. It thinks that entries-0-entity is a string (that's how it came in); how can I directly access that value of the entry_formset and get it to take the object reference instead?

  I have a PHP process that takes a long time to run. I don't want the AJAX process that calls it to wait for it to finish. When the PHP process finishes it will set a field in a database. There should be some kind of AJAX polling call to check on the database field periodically and set a message. How do I set up a jQuery AJAX call to poll rather than wait? Does the PHP script have to do anything special?

• PDO::PARAM for type decimal?

  I have 2 database fields `decval` decimal(5,2) `intval` int(3) I have 2 pdo queries that update them. The one that updates the int works ok $update_intval->bindParam(':intval', $intval, PDO::PARAM_INT); but I can't update the decimal field. I've tried the 3 ways below, but nothing works $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval, PDO::PARAM_STR); $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval, PDO::PARAM_INT); $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval); It seems the problem is with the database type decimal? Is there a PDO::PARAM for a field of type decimal? If not, what do I use as a workaround?

For example, I have a model Article, containing a file upload(a picture). class Article include Mongoid::Document field :title, :type => String field :content, :type => String mount_uploader :asset, AssetUploader end But I would like to only store the file once, in the case where I'll upload many times the same file for differents articles. • In javascript, error says 'is null or not an object'. When trying to use .change() code to hide form

  I'm getting a javascript error. The form has a dropdown asking "How did you find us?" If the user selects 'other', which is an <option> with value=6, a text input field .referrer_other becomes visible. Javascript is currently reporting that: '$.listHidden[...] is null or not an object'. It's an error that appears in IE. I found this code on the internet somewhere. Is there a way to fix it, or should I look for something else? Thanks
