  • Is there a Google Bookmarks plugin for Chrome?

    I currently use Google Bookmarks via the Google toolbar plug-in for Firefox. I find this extremely useful as it allows me to have roaming bookmarks rather than having to maintain bookmarks on individual machines and also restore them when rebuilding a machine. Is there currently any way to use Google Bookmarks in Chrome? This is the one thing I'm waiting for that is preventing me from switching from Firefox to Chrome.

  • CARP: two machines think they're the master, but only on one interface

    I have two machines, each configured identically as a firewall/load balancer for a busy website. I have set them up with CARP and pfsync on both the internal and external interfaces. The internal interface is behaving as expected (primary listed as MASTER and secondary listed as BACKUP) On both machines, the network interfaces are as follows: em0 - External interface bge0 - Internal interface bge1 - Crossover connection between both machines carp0 - Shared external interface for CARP carp1 - Shared internal interface for CARP I've rewritten the IP addresses and MAC addresses below.   • Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware

    The whole installation goes smoothly up to the point of "Completing installation ...". The monitor changes resolution, after which a standard dialog box pops up saying Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware Then, in a few seconds, the whole machine powers down. Trying to restart produces the message: STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} 0x00000000 (0xc0000001 0x00100448) OR it boots into Setup and comes up with the message: Windows Setup encountered an unexpected error... (This is not the actual error, just paraphrasing) I tried using the OEM restore instead of a regular install, but it fails with the same error. (Even though it worked before...) General specs: HP Pavilion Elite e9262f Intel Core i5-750 Processor ATI Radeon HD 4650 Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 ATA Device 6GB DDR3 RAM SuperMulti DVD Burner with LightScribe Some built-in Wi-Fi module http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01916917 I've tried disconnecting the wireless card and disabling the built-in Ethernet and Firewire via the BIOS, and replacing the wireless keyboard and mouse with wired USB ones. Didn't work. I've also tried changing the SATA controller settings in the BIOS to RAID, AHCI, and IDE, reinstalling each time I changed. Still not working. I think the reason why it is showing the Fatal System Error is because it didn't finish installing before it errored out and shut down, so the system is left in an inconsistent state. I've tried 3 different copies (including the OEM restore) of Windows 7 now, and they're all failing at the same point, with the same error message. I've tried to install Windows 7 maybe 10 times already, with the exact same error message at the exact same location. Hm... Interestingly, the 32-bit version of Windows 7 works, but the 64-bit version doesn't. Perhaps it was a badly burned disk? Reburning the 64-bit version still comes up with the same error.     I've run into an issue with my KVM host which runs VMs on a LVM volume. As of last night the logical volumes are no longer seen as such (I can't create snapshots of them even though I have been for months now).     Got a win7 computer for xmas and like the Sticky Notes But twice now, after running an automatic update, the sticky notes disappeared Managed to navigate system restore and recover it, but what a pain in the butt. The update seems to be deleting the exe, but I haven't been able to find any info on why. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas how to prevent it happening again? Cheers

  • Server restarted while rebuilding array, what to do?

    It's a HP ProLiant DL380 Generation 7, that has four hard drives, one is dead, I suppose that another one is dead too, but is there any way to force the array to rebuild again? The server has restarted while it was rebuilding an array. My windows server(2008) that is on it won't boot, it goes directly to system recovery screen. I have an image backup, would restoring it be my only option?If I restore, it will get back to regular automatically or will I have to configure something?

  • Should I worry about the integrity of my linux software RAID5 after a crash or kernel panic?

    I have a dual core Intel i5 Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS system running kernel 2.6.32-22-server #33-Ubuntu SMP with three 1TB SATA hard drives set up in a RAID5 array using linux md devices. I have read about the RAID5 write hole and am concerned: if my linux system locks up or kernel panics, should I be assume that the integrety of my data has been compromised and restore from backup? How can I know if the data on the RAID5 array is "safe"?

  • Excel 'recently used list' not showing on start menu, but working within excel

    In windows 7 when you pin Excel 2007 to the start menu, it usually has a small arrow which shows your recently opened documents. Mine only shows permanently pinned documents. It used to work until I tried Office 2010 and then uninstalled it. If I open Excel and click on the file menu, I can see all the recently opened documents so they are being recorded somewhere... Any idea on how to restore it so I can view them on the start menu - Which I always used before?

  • How to prevent windows from being resized?

    Adobe Audition is really stupid in that when you change the size of the window, and then change it back to the original size, all the frame positions are lost and you have to tediously reposition them by hand. I'd like to make it completely impossible to ever resize the window, just keep it maximized at all times. If I accidentally click "Restore" or drag the title bar, it should either ignore it, or move around the screen while staying the same size. Is there any way to do this?
