  • SVN (Subversion) Problem "File is scheduled for addition, but is missing" - Using Versions

    - by Mike
I'm using Versions for SVN. I attempt to commit and get this message: Commit failed (details follow): '/Users/mike/Sites/mysite.com/astss-cvsdude/Trunk/cart/flashfile.swf' is scheduled for addition, but is missing I suppose this is because I had added files to the repo, and then deleted them via the filesystem. I'd like to have it simply make note of my change, and apply the change to the repo. How can I get around this?

  • Django custom locale directory

    - by valya
I'm developing a project with two different sites, divided by language. Maybe I was terribly wrong, but now my directory structure looks like: /ruapp/settings.py # SITE_ID = 1 /ruapp/manage.py /enapp/settings.py # SITE_ID = 2 /enapp/manage.py /common/urls.py /common/ # almost every other file /common/templates/ # templates with {% trans %} /locale/ # with locales ru-ru and en-us, generated by calling makemessages from the root of all this structure How to tell django about the locale? It does not seem like it will find the /locale/ folder by itself

    - by VaioIsBorn
I didn't know any better name for a title of the question. For ex: on one of my previous questions one answered ((a)-(b))&0x80000000) 31 - this is kind of a too advanced for me and i can't really get what it means. I am not looking just for an answer of that, but i need someone to tell me some books/sites/whatever where i can learn this cool "advanced" tricks in C - and learn how and where to use them respectively too.

  • Design crowd sourcing

    - by CVertex
I'm looking to get a logo designed, but all my designer friends/colleagues are pretty busy. Since I've never done it before, I thought it would be interesting to crowd source the design. Does anyone know of any good design crowd sourcing sites?

  • ASP.NET WebForms vs MVC [after VS2010/.NET 4.0 announcement]

    - by fjxx
Two of the biggest advantages of MVC over webforms were non-existent viewstate and URL routing. VS2010 and .NET 4.0 incorporates built-in URL routing for Webforms as well as better control for viewstate. I advocate use of MVC for extranet sites due to the MVC design pattern and its general lightweight nature but in light of this new announcement has Webforms closed the gap? Why would you still pick MVC over Webforms? Thanks

  • Is there a recognized Deployment Process?

    - by Steve Griff
Hello there, We have a decent deployment process for our web sites utilized in our company that works pretty well. I was wondering, is there a recognized, standard for deploying? Or is it a case of everyone having their own kind of deployment process that is built from their own experience and how the coding architecture is managed? Regards, Steve Griff

  • index.html vs default.html

    - by Galwegian
I've used both index.html and default.html in the past for home pages on sites I've built. These days I mostly use index.html, but I'm not sure why... consistency I suppose. I'm pretty sure IIS handle them the same, but I am wondering, though, if there's any benefit or pitfall in using one over the other, or are they treated the same in all respects? Thanks!

  • Implementing Projectile Motion

    - by DMan
I've scored the internet for sources and have found a lot of useful information, but they are math sites trying to tell me how to solve what angle an object has to be at to reach y location. However, I'm trying to run a simulation, and haven't found any solid equations that can be implemented to code to simulate a parabolic curve. Can those with some knowledge of physics help me on this?

  • Low latency programming

    - by Sambatyon
I've been reading a lot about low latency financial systems (especially since the famous case of corporate espionage) and the idea of low latency systems has been in my mind ever since. There are a million applications that can use what these guys are doing, so I would like to learn more about the topic. The thing is I cannot find anything valuable about the topic. Can anybody recommend books, sites, examples on low latency systems?

  • Should I use a recruiter?

    - by Dubs
Knowing how to find a good job is an important part of being a programmer. I know it's a good idea to post my resume on different sites like Monster and Dice. I also know that networking is important. But, what I'd really like to know is how everyone feels about using a recruiter (aka headhunter). What are the pros and cons? Is it better to deal with a company directly? Thanks!

  • Initial Genetic Programming Parameters

    - by cmptrer
I did a little GP (note:very little) work in college and have been playing around with it recently. My question is in regards to the intial run settings (population size, number of generations, min/max depth of trees, min/max depth of initial trees, percentages to use for different reproduction operations, etc.). What is the normal practice for setting these parameters? What papers/sites do people use as a good guide?

  • JavaScript on the server-side like PHP

    - by Nathan Campos
I'm now thinking to establish my server-side code in JavaScript, and begin to do all on it, but I want to know about its security and flexibility compared to PHP. I want to know too, if it can be successfully used to develop things like forum boards, full web-sites and things like this, as PHP does.

  • Progress Bar not updating

    - by Bailz
    I have the following piece of code to write data to an XML file. private void WriteResidentData() { int count = 1; status = "Writing XML files"; foreach (Site site in sites) { try { //Create the XML file StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(path + "\\sites\\" + site.title + ".xml"); writer.WriteLine("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"ISO-8859-1\" ?>"); writer.WriteLine("<customer_list>"); foreach (Resident res in site.GetCustomers()) { bw.ReportProgress((count / customers) * 100); writer.WriteLine("\t<customer>"); writer.WriteLine("\t\t<customer_reference>" + res.reference + "</customer_reference>"); writer.WriteLine("\t\t<customer_name>" + res.name + "</customer_name>"); writer.WriteLine("\t\t<customer_address>" + res.address + "</customer_address>"); writer.WriteLine("\t\t<payment_method>" + res.method + "</payment_method>"); writer.WriteLine("\t\t<payment_cycle>" + res.cycle + "</payment_cycle>"); writer.WriteLine("\t\t<registered>" + CheckWebStatus(res.reference) + "</registered>"); writer.WriteLine("\t</customer>"); count++; } writer.WriteLine("</customer_list>"); writer.Close(); } catch (Exception ex) { lastException = ex; } } } It's using the same BackgroundWorker that gets the data from the database. My progress bar properly displays the progress whilst it is reading from the database. However, after zeroing the progress bar for the XML writing it simply sits at 0 even though the process is completing correctly. Can anyone suggest why?
