    Is that possible that MySQL can handle grouping of data according to age bracket? In my users table, age value is their actual age. I want to group them according to age bracket. For example: ages below 1 year old as age1, 1-4 yrs as age2, 5-9 yrs. old as age3 and so on.

    These are the logical steps which i need render with jquery: var x is a 2 digit number(integer) derived from an input.value(); If var x is not 33 or 44 Convert this 2 digit number to string; split the string in 2 parts as number; Add these 2 values; Return var x value as this value.     In my mysql table a field values are as follows: table name - "clients" field name - "accent" values are - "Eastern(Northern,Southern),Scottish(East Coast)" "Eastern(South,North,Southern),Scottish(East Coast)" If I give select accent from clients where accent like '%north%' if more than 100 records not in the same order. Strings with in the brackets are not in the same order means. It will give above two values. How should i get only second value? Please help me, thanks.

  • PHP, MySQL: Display only required parts of my website in sister website

    Hi all, Now I have my website built on PHP & Mysql. Consider this like a forum. Now when a user posts a reply in my website 1 (ex. www.website1.com), I want to be able to show the starting thread and it's related replies in a sister website of mine. I want to do this in a way that it does not show the rest of the page & other page contents (like logo etc.). I don't think iframe would be a solution because an iframe would embed the whole page and the users visiting my sister website (totally different domain i.e. www.website2.com) would be able to see all the page contents, like logo etc. I want to avoid that. I want to make them see only limited information from website 1 and only the info. that I intend. I hope that makes sense. In a way, you could say that I am trying to replicate my 1 website, and show only a limited part of it. Users browsing 2nd website can post a reply in the 2nd website and it should automatically be posted & visible to the visitors of the website 1. Users of website 1 should not know that a user of website 2 has posted it. They would feel that some user from website 1 has posted it. Do I have to use 2 separate mysql DB or just 1? I think it would be problematic if I am trying to use different DB. I also feel I might have to face DB connectivity issues as I can connect to only 1 DB at a time. It's basically like users of website1.com should feel that they are replying to users of website1.com & users of website2.com should feel that they are replying to users of website2.com. (I need it this way to bridge the gap between them). At the same time I want to make the front end of the websites different so that they don't feel that they are replying to some other users outside the domain. These websites would be under my control and I will have access to the source code at any time. If I need to change the source code, these changes are welcome. Is this really possible?     I am playing around with PHPFog and as a result I ended up with a MySql database. I am trying to figure out how to connect to it with a success message. PHPFog says use this: mysql_connect( $server = getenv('MYSQL_DB_HOST'), $username = getenv('MYSQL_USERNAME'), $password = getenv('MYSQL_PASSWORD')); mysql_select_db(getenv('MYSQL_DB_NAME')); So I basically plug my variables into the above?     I've got a data structure that is Key, Value, OtherValues(key, Value). So the OtherValues are attached to the first Key and aren't always there. I can do this as Dictionary<Key, ValueAndListOfOptionalValues> where ValueAndListOfOptionalValues is a class with a string and a Dictionary<string, string>. I'm wondering if that's really the best way to do it? Sometimes I think that I'm missing some important classes in the Generics namespace, maybe there are better classes out there that I'm not aware of.

    MySQL stores the date in my database (by default) as 'YYYY-MM-DD' The field type for my date is 'DATE' (I do not need any time storage).. Is there a simple way to change it by default to DD/MM/YYYY ?     I'm currently trying to create a report using Crystal Reports that comes with Visual Studio 2008. I would like to include a field of type boolean on my report that shows a string rather than true or false. The string should contain either contain a € or a % sign. How would I go about doing this in the Formula Workshop? I've tried things like e.g. if {tblAankoopDetails.SoortKorting} = true then "€" else "%" However this never seems to work and results in warnings such as "The formula result must be a number". This should be fairly simple but this is my first go at using Crystal Reports. Help would be much appreciated. Jay
