• Where to find iPhone system buttons and icons graphics?

  Hey guys, I'm trying to find a way to use the original Apple system buttons and icons in a web site. Is there a way to get these original graphics in png format? There are not-so-nice ways to obtain them of course. Two I was thinking of: Save them from this link, then convert to png. Take screen captures on the iPhone itself, and cut the icons from the saved images. Is anyone aware of a nicer way to obtain the original graphics? Does anyone know where they are stored on the Mac? • File system to choose for NAS box based on FreeNAS or OpenFiler [closed]

  I'm a photographer and I have a requirement find a better method of storing my photos other than multiple USB2 drives via USB hubs. Currently I use a Macbook Pro and 6 external drives connected via USB2 or FW800. 3 are a copy of the first three, kept up to day manually by running an rsync backup. I'd like to run a FreeNAS or OpenFiler NAS box using 2TB drives mirrored via software RAID. But - I would like to have the flexibility of also plugging into the drive physically for the faster throughput when necessary. So. My question is, is there a file system that both *nix and Mac OSX will play nice with? Many thanks, Chris.

• How to integrate junit/pmd/findbugs report into hudson build email?

  my team is looking into using hudson as our continuous integration software, 1 problem that we try to figure out is to integrate the reports of junit/pmd/findbugs etc into the build email that get sent to the team. the graph/reports on the dashboard are nice and all, but people usually want to just read the email and not clicking the links. i tried to use the ext-email plugin, but that doesn't provide much help related to this. is there any way i can get those info into the build email? • Filesystem synchronization library?

  Hi, I've got 10 GB of files to back up daily to another site. The client is way out in the country so bandwidth is an issue. Does anyone know of any existing software or libraries out there that help with keeping a folder with its files synchronized across a slow link, that is it only sends files across if they have changed? Some kind of hash checking would be nice, too, to at least confirm the two sides are the same. I don't mind paying some money for it, seeing as how it might take me several weeks to a month to implement something decent on my own. I just don't want to re-invent the wheel, here. BTW it is a windows shop (they have an in house windows IT guy) so windows is preferred. I also have 10 GB of SQL Server 2000 databases to go across. Is the SQL server replication mode reliable?   I read this comment in the OpenID post on the stackoverflow blog. Kibbee says : One nice feature of OpenID that I use is the ability to delegate the openID verification. So I can set up my own domain name, and then put a tiny bit of XML on that page that tells the site (like stackoverflow) to go to some other openid Provider (in my case MyOpenID). The big plus is that I have complete control over my Open ID account. If MyOpenID goes down, I can just switch to another provider. I think anybody who has their own domain name should go for this option. What is this tiny bit of XML that will allow my server to act as an openid provider/forwarder?

• Should I use uint in C# for values that can't be negative?

  I have just tried implementing a class where numerous length/count properties, etc. are uint instead of int. However, while doing so I noticed that it's actually painful to do so, like as if no one actually wants to do that. Nearly everything that hands out an integral type returns an int, therefore requiring casts in several points. I wanted to construct a StringBuffer with its buffer length defaulted to one of the fields in that class. Requires a cast too. So I wondered whether I should just revert to int here. I'm certainly not using the entire range anyway. I just thought since what I'm dealing with there simply can't be negative (if it was, it'd be an error) it'd be a nice idea to actually use uint. P.S.: I saw this question and this at least explains why the framework itself always uses int but even in own code it's actually cumbersome to stick to uint which makes me think it apparently isn't really wanted.

• TabWidget white foreground color?

  I don't know what I did but for a period of time my TabWidget had white colored tabs which looked really nice. I never set a theme or background/foreground color in my project at all. The next time I compiled it it reverted back to the gray tabs. My application is using the default dark theme. Even if I set the application theme to light, the tabs are still gray. So obviously it was something else that changed the tabs' color. Anyone know how to do this?

• Android-iPhone single codebase cross development

  Is there a way, apart from using HTML and JavaScript on a web control, to have an (almost) single codebase for an application that should run on iOS and Android? The big issue is of course that they use a different language (Java for Android, Objective-C for iOS) for application development. It would be nice to have some sort of meta-language that will be translated in Java and in Objective-C. What about Flash? Adobe wasn't supposed to release a tool to create flash-based apps in iOS? Update: based on current answers, the best cross platform development tool for iOS and Android seems to be Titanium appcelerator. I suspect that this topic will evolve overtime, so feel free to contribute with new information and comments. Thank you!

However I was wondering if there was a way to leverage the standard min/max functions of: Array.max = function(array) { return Math.max.apply(Math, array); }; Array.min = function(array) { return Math.min.apply(Math, array); }; So I can search across an array of objects of say: function Vector(x, y, z) { this.x = x; this.y = y; this.z = z; } var ArrayVector = [ /* lots of data */ ]; var min_x = ArrayVector.x.min(); // or var max_y = ArrayVector["y"].max(); Currently I have to loop through the array and compare the object values manually and craft each one to the particular need of the loop. A more general purpose way would be nice (if slightly slower).

  Hi guys, I have tried to take apart the code, but can't seem to replicate it. On the BBC weather homepage, http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/, you will see a little help quetionmark in a circle in the top right corner or some of the boxes. When you click on it, it brings up a nice help popup, that looks a little like facebox. The main thing I like about this, is the little arrow that points back to the help button to the right of the container. Facebox is just a standard square. If anyone knows how to replicate this, some help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Ian

  I'm trying to create a design for a list that looks like (and mostly behaves like) the call log, like shown here: I don't need all the design, but what I'm trying to achieve is the two-columned design with the splitter in-between, and the behavior that if I click on the main item (the left part) one thing happens (in this case, you open some details about the call), and if you press the outer right part something else happens (you call the contact). I'm pretty new to android, but I've managed to do most of the designs I wanted so far, so I don't need the entire layout for this one, only the part that does the splitting and the splitter. And if possible it would be nice to know how to map the clicks appropriately, though I think I might be able to find that out by my self.

We have one core permanently around 40% ~ 60% wait time and trying to spot what is happening I realized that we have more interruptions than cpu context switches. • Routing classic asp through an MVC application

  We are starting to convert a large classic asp application into MVC (using C#). An additional requirement is, that all classic routes get "translated" to MVC ones ('mydomain.com/productdetail.asp?id=13' should become 'mydomain.com/products/13') even before we start writing the first controller or view. So basically, we want to use the routing from MVC but have the classic asp handle the response. An these are my questions: How to use the new nice urls but have the classic asp handle the construction of the html result? Within the classic asp page, the new MVC url pattern should be used for links. What is the best way of translating the old urls to the new ones and make the accessible within the classic asp site (using COM I guess). When an old/classic url is requested, how would I correctly handle that request so that browsers/searchengines would understand that the page has moved to the new url? Thanks in advance!

• best way to statistically detect anomalies in data

  Hi, our webapp collects huge amount of data about user actions, network business, database load, etc etc etc All data is stored in warehouses and we have quite a lot of interesting views on this data. if something odd happens chances are, it shows up somewhere in the data. However, to manually detect if something out of the ordinary is going on, one has to continually look through this data, and look for oddities. My question: what is the best way to detect changes in dynamic data which can be seen as 'out of the ordinary'. Are bayesan filters (I've seen these mentioned when reading about spam detection) the way to go? Any pointers would be great! EDIT: To clarify the data for example shows a daily curve of database load. This curve typically looks similar to the curve from yesterday In time this curve might change slowly. It would be nice that if the curve from day to day changes say within some perimeters, a warning could go off. R

• IPC: Communication between Qt4 and MONO processes (on linux)

  I have to connect a Qt4 application to a mono Application. The current proof of concept uses network sockets (which is nice, I can debug using nc on the command line). But I am open to new suggestions. What are my alternatives? Edit: The original application stack is split into two parts: server + client. The client is supposed to show pictures and videos. Since we found that this is not possible in a sane way in Mono, we split the client into two parts: server - client - GUI In the original implementation the client+GUI were the same application. Now client is in C# (running on Mono), and the GUI is Qt4. Rewriting the client in Qt4 is not an option. Right now the communication between the client and the GUI is been done using TCP sockets through localhost. I am looking for better implementations.

  Hi everybody, I'm rather new to bash, and somehow just haven't found out what I'm doing wrong here: (this is a small bash script calling my generator) if [ -n $folder ]; then $zorbalocation -q $generator -f -e files=\"$lFiles\" -e folder=\"lFolder\" else $zorbalocation -q $generator -f -e files=\"$lFiles\" -e folder=\".\" fi Now, obviously I want bash to execute these commands, depending on the content of folder. But, for some reason, bash insists on putting apostrophes ( ' ) around files=... and folder =... So, it tries to execute ../../../zorba/build/bin/zorba -q generator.xq -f -e 'files="test.xqlib"' -e 'folder="."' instead of ../../../zorba/build/bin/zorba -q generator.xq -f -e files="test.xqlib" -e folder="."   Hi, if given two types (Type a, Type b), is there any "nice" way to find out if those two can be compared, summed etc.? I was thinking if the types implement IConvertible, one could convert both to lets say decimal and perform a "Convert.ToDecimal(a) > Convert.ToDecimal(b)" ? I am building an expression evaluator and want to be able to work with any kind of object and thus need to know if a type can be compared to another type (it DOESN'T have to be the same types on both sides. eg. double > int)

• Basic refactoring features (e.g., Rename) unavailable when editing code in an aspx/ascx files

  I was just editing some C# code between <% %> tags in an .ascx file, and I noticed that the Refactor contextual menu is unavailable. And even if I manually add items from this menu to a custom toolbar, they are disabled when viewing aspx/ascx files. I usually only have small snippets of C# code in my aspx/ascx files, but it would still be nice to be able to perform refactoring operations on any code that exists between <% %> tags. I feel like I'm going back to the dark ages when I have to use find/replace to change the name of a variable. Questions Is there a way to enable Visual Studio's refactoring features while viewing aspx/ascx files in Visual Studio? Are there any Visual Studio plug-ins (preferably free) that offer this kind of functionality?

• ActiveRecord model with datetime stamp with timezone support attribute.

  Rails is great that it will support timezone overall in the application with Time.zone. I need to be able to support the timezone a user selects for a record. The user will be able to select date, time, and timezone for the record and I would like all calculations to be done with respect to the user selected timezone. My question is what is the best practice to handle user selected timezones. The model is using a time_zone_select and datetime_select for two different attributes timezone and scheduled_at. When the model saves, the scheduled_at attribute gets converted to the locally defined Time.zone. When a user goes back to edit the scheduled_at attribute with the datetime_select the datetime is set to the converted Time.zone timezone and not the timezone attribute. Is there a nice way to handle to the conversion to the user selected timezone?

• jQuery - Add click event to Div and go to first link found

  Hi guys, I think I've been too much time looking at this function and just got stuck trying to figure out the nice clean way to do it. It's a jQuery function that adds a click event to any div with a click CSS class found in the page and when clicked it redirects the user to the first link found in the div. function clickabledivs() { $('.click').each( function (intIndex) { $(this).bind("click", function(){ window.location = $( "#"+$(this).attr('id')+" a:first-child" ).attr('href'); }); } ); } The code simply works although I'm pretty sure there is a fairly better way to accomplish it, specially the selector I am using: $( "#"+$(this).attr('id')+" a:first-child" ) looks too long and slow. • Performance logging tips

  I am developing large data collecting ASP.Net/Windows service application-pair that uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 through LINQ2Sql. Performance is always the issue. Currently the application is divided into multiple larger processing parts, each logging the duration of their work. This is not detailed and does not help us with anything. It would be nice to have some database tables that contain statistics that the application itself collected from its own behavior. What logging tips and data structures do you recommend to spot the parts that cause performance problems?

• Conky graph frozen in time

  Is it possible to plot a graph in conky? Give a function a set of values 0-100 and conky plots a graph similar to execgraph? What I want is to visualize how a variable changed in last week. For example, I'd like to make a graph of gold prices in last 14 days. One way I could do that is use "execigraph 86400 python fetch_price_of_gold.py" and keep my box up 24/7 and eventually I'd get a nice graph. But, unfortunately my box isn't up 24/7. Not to mention I'd have to wait 14 days after every reboot ;-) So, any other ideas? :-)

  Hi I know stackoverflow uses open authentication. I want to try and use this as well. I am using asp.net mvc 2.0 with C#. I found this http://www.dotnetopenauth.net/ and I am wondering if this is what was used for stackoverflow. Also any tutorials would be nice as well. • WriteableBitmap in .NET 4

  Hi there, I have got a problem: I would like to use a method Render() for WriteableBitmap object. However, as I noticed, the method is not available without using a Silverlight assembly System.Windows.dll. I need to use RenderTargetBitmap in my project (PresentationCore assembly for standard .net). Here is the problem - there are definitions of some classes in both assemblies, thus they are in conflict. Basically, I need to add some stuff to Bgra32 bitmap. However, RenderTargetBitmap works only with Pbgra32 ones. I found that using WriteableBitmap to render would be nice. Maybe I am wrong? Do you have any ideas? Thank you in advance for the reply! • Detecting Infinite recursion in Python or dynamic languages

  Recently I tried compiling program something like this with GCC: int f(int i){ if(i<0){ return 0;} return f(i-1); and it ran just fine. When I inspected the stack frames the compiler optimized the program to use only one frame, by just jumping back to the beginning of the function and only replacing the arguments to f. And - the compiler wasn't even running in optimized mode. Now, when I try the same thing in Python - I hit maximum recursion wall (or stack overflow). Is there way that a dynamic language like python can take advantage of these nice optimizations? Maybe it's possible to use a compiler instead of an interpreter to make this work? Just curious!
