• .Net Crystal Report printing application running on termianal service connection errors when session

  I have created a .Net application to run on an App Server that gets requests for a report and prints out the requested report. The C# application uses Crystal Reports to load the report and subsequently print it out. The application is run on Server which is connected to via a Remote Desktop connection under a particular user account (required for old apps). When I disconnect from the Remote Session the application starts raising exceptions such as: Message: CrystalDecisions.Shared.CrystalReportsException: Load report failed This type of error is never raised when the Remote Session is active. The server running the app is running Windows Server 2003, my box which creates the connection is Windows XP. I appreciate this is fairly weird, however I cannot see any problem with the application deployment I have created. Does anyone know what could be cause this issue? EDIT: I bit the bullet and created the application as a windows service, obviously this doesn't take long I just wasn't convinced it would solve the problem. Anyway it doesn't!!! I have also tried removing the multi-thread code that was calling the print function asynchronously. I did this in order to simply the app and narrow down the reason it could fail. Anyway, this didn't improve the situation either! EDIT: The two errors I get are: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80000201): Invalid printer specified. at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.PrintOutputControllerClass.ModifyPrinterName(String newVal) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.PrintOptions.set_PrinterName(String value) at Dsa.PrintServer.Service.Service.PrintCrystalReport(Report report) The printer isn't invalid, this is confirmed when 60 seconds later the time ticks and the report is printed successfully. • Could not open Selected VM debug port (8700)

  I am trying to debug the android source using Eclipse by following the instructions found at: http://source.android.com/using-eclipse I have downloaded the source, and gotten it to build. I follow the directions in the link above and everything is fine until I run the ddms command. At this point, if Eclipse is running I get the error 'Could not open Selected VM debug port (8700)'. If I close Eclipse, then ddms runs with no problem, and I can the the processes on the emulator. However, if I now open Eclipse, I get the same error. In any case, no matter what I do, if I attempt to remote debug, it always fails with 'Failed to connect to remote VM'. Any ideas? Thanks

  I've been researching eCommerce payment gateways and service offerings, but I'm an eCommerce novice, so please excuse my ignorance. I wish to set up an eCommerce solution with the following requirements: User "subscribes" to the service on a yearly basis. This service includes a single product subscription for a set amount (let's say $50/yr). User can "subscribe" to additional product services for a lesser rate per year (let's say $25/yr). I will need to store a product service unique Id of some sort for each product subscription the user subscribes to in order to show them product unique information. I also need to prevent duplicates...for example, user can subscribe to product ABC and XYZ, but not 2 of ABC. Is PayPal the best solution for something like this? Is there a better solution? Any assistance is greatly appreciated, even if just links to specific tutorials or examples. Update: It looks like Chargify could be the perfect solution.

The error happenes The error seems to occur in < 1 min, which is far less that the web service timeout value that I have set or the timeout value on the ADO Command object that is performing the query within the web server. It seems to occur whenever I am performing a large query that expects to return a lot of rows or when I am sending up a large amount of data to the web service. It's probably one right now when I just got the error now. It seems to have to do everything with the amt of data being passed in either direction. This error is really chronic and killing me. • Programatically send SMS to email using Verizon Motorola Droid on Android

  Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew the proper way to send an SMS message to an e-mail address using Verizon's CDMA Motorola Droid phone. The internal messaging application appears to automagically do this. While 3rd party applications like SMSPopup don't seem to be able to properly reply to e-mail addresses unless you compose the message inside the messaging application. When the internal messaging application sends a SMS message there's a corresponding 'RIL_REQUEST_CDMA_SEND_SMS' entry in the logcat (adb logcat -b radio). When you send a SMS to an e-mail address it prints the same thing, so behind the scenes it looks as though it is sending an sms. The interesting thing is that if you look at the content provider sent box the messages are addressed to various 1270XX-XXX-XXXX numbers. On other services you can send e-mail addresses by sending a SMS to a predefined short sms number. And then formatting your SMS as emailaddress subject message i.e. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway#Carrier-Provided_SMS_to_E-Mail_Gateways For example, using T-mobile's number (500) you can send a SMS to an e-mail using the following: SmsManager smsMgr = SmsManager.getDefault(); smsMgr.sendTextMessage("500", null, "[email protected] message sent to an e-mail address from a SMS", null, null); Does anyone know if It is possible to programatically send SMS to email messages from a CDMA Android phone? Does Verizon actually send your replies as SMS messages or are they actually sent as MMS or normal http email messages? Any ideas about how to intercept what the raw message being sent to see what's going on? It might be possible that Verizon somehow generates a fake number temporarily tied to an e-mail address (since repeated messages are not sent to the same number). But, that seems pretty heavy handed.   I am planning to integrate a Google Checkout payment system on a social networking website. The idea is that members can buy "tokens" for real money (which are sort of the website currency) and then they can buy access to some extra content on the website etc. What I want to do is create a Google Checkout button that takes a member to the checkout page where he pays with his credit or debit card. What I want is the Google Checkout to notify notify my server whether the purchase of tokens was successful (if the credit/debit card was charged) so I can update the local database. The website is coded in PHP/MySQL. I have downloaded the sample PHP code from here: code.google.com/p/google-checkout-php-sample-code/wiki/Documentation I know how to create a Google checkout button and I have also placed the responsehandlerdemo.php file on my server. This is the file the Google Checkout is supposed to send response to (of course I set the path to the file in Google merchant account). Now in the response handler file there is a switch block with several case statements. It links to some images on the directory. on my localhost install they are showing but in the remote install the img tags aren't even appearing.   How can I see which commits are actually going to be pushed to a remote repository? As far as I know, whenever I pull master from the remote repository, commits are likely to be generated, even if they're empty. This causes the local master to be 'forward' even if there is really nothing to push. Now, if I try (from master): git cherry origin master I have an idea of what's going to be pushed, though this also display some commits that I've already pushed. Is there a way to display only the new content that's going to be pushed?

• What good alternatives to CHM are there for context sensitive help documents in desktop applications

  We currently have a number of desktop applications (PowerBuilder, Winforms, WPF) that make use of a single CHM for context sensitive help. We'd like to move away from CHM as it's difficult to maintain but we've not found a suitable alternative. Ideally we'd like our developers to keep the help files up to date (perhaps in a wiki) as they add funtionality and simply export this to PDF or something like that, but is it possible to use a PDF for context sensitve help, or are there any other promising alternative to CHM?
