• Android: How to bind spinner to custom object list?

  Hi, In the user interface there has to be a spinner which contains some names (the names are visible) and each name has its own ID (the IDs are not equal to display sequence). When the user selects the name from the list the variable currentID has to be changed. The application contains the ArrayList Where User is an object with ID and name: public class User{ public int ID; public String name; } What I don't know is how to create a spinner which displays the list of user's names and bind spinner items to IDs so when the spinner item is selected/changed the variable currentID is set to appropriate value. I would appreciate if anyone could show the solution of the described problem or provide any link useful to solve the problem. Thanks!

  Hi everybody, I am having the worst trouble getting around a bug, and am hoping that I can get some advice on this site. In short, I am trying to make an asynchronous web service call from my VB.NET application. But my "client_DownloadDataCompleted" callback is NEVER being called when the download is complete.   Hello, I have a HTML Tag <textarea>$FOO</textarea> and the $FOO Variable will be filled with arbitrary HTML and JavaScript Content, to be displayed and edited within the textarea. What kind of "escaping" do I neet to apply to $FOO? I first tought of escaping it HTML but this didnt work (as I will then get shown not the original HTML Code of $FOO but rather the escaped content. This is of course not what I want: I want to be displayed the unescaped HTML/JS Content of the variable... Is it impossible to display HTML Content within a <textarea> tag and also allow it to be editable as full HTML? thanks jens

• Marshall a list of objects from VB6 to C#

  I have a development which requires the passing of objects between a VB6 application and a C# class library. The objects are defined in the C# class library and are used as parameters for methods exposed by other classes in the same library. The objects all contain simple string/numeric properties and so marshaling has been relatively painless. We now have a requirement to pass an object which contains a list of other objects. If I was coding this in VB6 I might have a class containing a collection as a member variable. In C# I might have a class with a List member variable. Is it possible to construct a C# class in such a way that the VB6 application could populate this inner list and marshal it successfully? I don't have a lot of experience here but I would guess Id have to use an array of Object types.

• the scope of a pointer ???

  Ok, so I did find some questions that were almost similar but they actually confused me even more about pointers. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2715198/c-pointer-objects-vs-non-pointer-objects-closed In the link above, they say that if you declare a pointer it is actually saved on the heap and not on the stack, regardless of where it was declared at. Is this true ?? Or am I misunderstanding ??? I thought that regardless of a pointer or non pointer, if its a global variable, it lives as long as the application. If its a local variable or declared within a loop or function, its life is only as long as the code within it.

• Objective-C: how to prevent abstraction leaks

  I gather that in Objective-C I must declare instance variables as part of the interface of my class even if these variables are implementation details and have private access. In "subjective" C, I can declare a variable in my .c file and it is not visible outside of that compilation unit. I can declare it in the corresponding .h file, and then anyone who links in that compilation unit can see the variable. I wonder if there is an equivalent choice in Objective-C, or if I must indeed declare every ivar in the .h for my class. Ari.

  In no way shape or form am i advertising/promoting my programming style, but as far as 'multiple variable declarations' are concerned, which case is more acceptable professionally and commonly: case 1: private $databaseURL = "localhost" ; private $databaseUName = "root" ; private $databasePWord = "" ; private $databaseName = "AirAlliance"; case 2: private $databaseURL = "localhost"; private $databaseUName = "root"; private $databasePWord = ""; private $databaseName = "AirAlliance"; The reason i like case 1 is because i can skim though it and see that all is correct way faster than case 2. Also i can visually get familiar with variable names witch makes it faster to work with them l latter on the program.

  I have this very simple C++ class: class Tree { public: Node *head; }; BOOST_PYTHON_MODULE(myModule) { class_<Tree>("Tree") .def_readwrite("head",&Tree::head) ; } I want to access the head variable from Python, but the message I see is: No to_python (by-value) converter found for C++ type: Node* From what I understand, this happens because Python is freaking out because it has no concept of pointers. How can I access the head variable from Python? I understand I should use encapsulation, but I'm currently stuck with needing a non-encapsulation solution.

  Hi Guys, I have a confusion about the timestamp of h264 RTP packet. I know the wall clock rate of video is 90KHz which I defined in the SIP SDP. The frame rate of my encoder is not exactly 30 FPS, it is variable. It varies from 15 FPS to 30 FPS on the fly. So, I cannot use any fixed timestamp. Could any one tell me the timestamp of the following encoded packet. After 0 milisecond encoded RTP timestamp = 0 (Let the starting timestamp 0) After 50 milisecond encoded RTP timestamp = ? After 40 milisecond encoded RTP timestamp = ? After 33 milisecond encoded RTP timestamp = ? What is the formula when the encoded frame rate is variable? Thank you in advance.

How do I send that data along when the button is clicked? <%= link_to image_tag('send_message_button.jpg', :title => 'send #{user} a message', :alt => 'send #{user} a message'), new_user_message_path(current_user), :class=>'messageuser' %> This goes to the current_user's inbox. I want to send the "params[:user_id]" variable along with it so that I can then fill out the "send to" textbox in the inbox page with it. How do I send that params variable along with this button?

• How to convert int to char in JSP expression language?

  I need to display incremented single characters to denote footnotes in a table of data in a JSP. In Java I would normally have a char variable and just increment it, or convert an int to a char by casting it (e.g. (char)(i + 97) to convert a 0-based index to a-z). I can't figure out how to do this in expression language short of writing my own JSTL function. Does anyone know how to convert an int to char in EL? Or how to increment a char variable in EL? Or possibly even a better technique to do what I'm trying to do in JSP/EL? Example of what I need to be able to produce: a mydata b myotherdata ... a first footnote b second footnote

• Facebook canvas Iframe App authentication problem.

  hi, I am in the conversion process of facebook app from fbml to iframe. Now i am testing using few iframe pages. $user = $facebook->require_login(); It gives the current user logged in. Once it get the variable from the facebook.com it saves in cookie by the PHP API provided by facebook). I logged out using another tab of facebook and i tryed using my app without refreshing the whole site (by just using the links inside my app). It still gives the $user variable. It indicates that user has logged in instead of user logged out. Please help me out. I want my app secured. It looks my iframe app accessible when we select "open this frame in new window". I need a solution for this too. Thanks in advance.

  I have done some research on the ExtJS forum regarding private methods and fields inside a extended class, and I couldn't find any real answer to this. So, how do I add a new variable o method within the scope of MyExtendedClass that cannot be accessed from outside but can be access by the public methods?

• Quick question on session security.

  Hey guys, I was scanning my site for security and I noticed that it was possible for non users to send requests and post information, so I decided to put login checks on all information posts. I was wondering if it was a good way to keep a session id that is created by md5(uniqid()); in a session variable $_SESSION['id']=md5(uniqid()); for each user and then store that in a database under active users for that user. Then when a user tries to insert information, verify that their $_SESSION['id'] variable is equal to the one in the database where the username equals their $_SESSION['username'].   Hi there! I've an array, but I don't need its first (or last) position. So I point a new variable to the rest of the array, but I should free the array first/last position. For instance: p = read_csv_file(); q = p + 1; // I don't need the first CSV file field // Here I'd like to free only the first position of p return q; Otherwise I've to memcpy the array to other variable, excluding the first position, and then free the original array. Like this: p = read_csv_file(); q = (int*) malloc(sizeof(int) * (SOME_SIZE - 1)); memcpy(q, p+1, sizeof(int) * (SOME_SIZE - 1)); free(p); return q; But then I'll have the overhead of copying all the array. Is this possible to only free a single position of an array?

• How to configure a session timeout for Grails application?

  In one of controllers in my Grails application I'm preserving a parameter value in a session variable like this: session.myVariable = params.myValue After that, I can access the saved value from different controllers/GSP-pages as long as I actively use the app. However, if I don't use my app for a while, even though my browser window is still open, the session variable looses it's value. Does this happens because the session expires? I was under impression that a session lives until the browser window is still open, but apparently I was wrong. What should I do to ensure all session variables I define in my Grails app don't expire until the browser is closed? Is there any way to set session timeout manually?   I have the following property public MyType MyProperty {get;set;} I want to change this property so that if the value is null, it'll do populate the value first, and then return it... but without using a private member variable. • Double interpolation of regular expressions in Perl

  I have a Perl program that stores regular expressions in configuration files. They are in the form: regex = ^/d+$ Elsewhere, the regex gets parsed from the file and stored in a variable - $regex. I then use the variable when checking the regex, e.g. $lValid = ($valuetocheck =~ /$regex/); I want to be able to include perl variables in the config file, e.g. regex = ^\d+$stored_regex$ But I can't work out how to do it. When regular expressions are parsed by Perl they get interpreted twice. First the variables are expanded, and then the the regular expression itself is parsed. What I need is a three stage process: First interpolate $regex, then interpolate the variables it contains and then parse the resulting regular expression. Both the first two interpolations need to be "regular expression aware". e.g. they should know that the string contain $ as an anchor etc... Any ideas?

• Vertical-centering and overflow Excel-style in CSS?

  Is there a way to perform a vertical centering of a variable-sized multi-line content within a fixed-size div, with hidden overflow? The aim would be to reproduce what you can see in Excel cells: when the content fits the container, it should be vertically centered, when it is larger, the parts that overflow should be hidden (and the content still vertically aligned), like in an Excel cell whose neighbours aren't empty. I know how to vertically center using CSS, I know how to hide overflow when the content isn't vertically centered, but I've no idea how to do both at the same time... Is Javascript the only answer? The trick is that CSS positioning approaches don't work with variable-sized content (my content is dynamic text), and when you use display:table-cell, it effectively disables CSS overflow control (and the container grows to accomodate the content).

  Hi, I'm using the Boxy jQuery plugin to open dialog windows and populating it through ajax. http://onehackoranother.com/projects/jquery/boxy/ Here's my code so far: $("a.create").click(function (e) { url = $(e.target).attr('href'); Boxy.load(url, {title:'Test'}); }); This opens up a dialog alright. However, if I click the link again, another dialog will open. How can I make it such that the previously opened Boxy dialog will come into focus? I only want one instance of this dialog. I tried assigning a variable to var ele = Boxy.load(); but the variable ele returns undefined... Alas, I can't make out much from the limited Boxy documentation available. Enabling the option modal: true would prevent the user from clicking on the link multiple times, but I don't want the overlay to show. Thanks for any light you can shed on this. -Lyon
