    I'm looking for (free) Ubuntu YouTube software that can perform two tasks (could be separate software): display on screen notification (like transmission does when a download has finished) when a new video has been uploaded to your personal subscription box download videos in max quality (preferably automatically once a new video has been uploaded from specific channels / series) What I've found so far: All Video Downloader: only downloads manually, can't select quality MiniTube: Doesn't associate with your personal account, doesn't notify when new video has been uploaded from your subscriptions. Annoying GUI. Quite buggy. If this software doesn't exist yet, I'll try to make it myself.

  • How do I make h.264 work on YouTube on Firefox on Windows 7 64 bit?

    Various news articles state that Firefox supports h.264 on Windows since version 20. As of this writing the version is 24, yet Firefox still can't play most YouTube videos. I did the HTML5 opt-in and tested both Firefox and Nightly. I also made sure media.windows-media-foundation.enabled in about:config is enabled, and it is by default both on Firefox and Nightly. What's wrong and how do I fix it? Edit: This video works. This video fails. They're both MP4 (right click video - stats for nerds), so Firefox's h.264 support works at least some of the time. Edit: When I go to a YouTube video that doesn't work, click Share - Embed and then copy-paste the src of the iframe tag into the address bar, the video works.

  • What camera to choose for using with JMF (Java Media Framework)

    For the past 2-3 weeks I've been searching for different ways to implement custom video streaming and in more general video capturing and manipulating, going through DVR-cards, Video Capture Cards and stuff like that. Somehow JMF was able to stay out of my sight for all this time, but since I find out about it I'm more and more sure that this is a comfortable level for me to start playing around with video and stuff. One major topic that occurs to me while searching for more info was the presence of many posts where people were complaining about the fact that any particular camera ( most of the time I think they mean web cameras) doesn't work with JMF. Even though there are a lot of different cameras (not necessarily a web cam) that are not that expensive I want to play it safe and buy one that is proven to work well with the JMF. Also due to lack of experience maybe this is irrelevant but since I'll buy the camera mostly for learning and experimenting I want to have the maximum freedom possible to mess with different features, options and so on.

  • Track url from Amazon S3 using Google Analytics

    I couldn't find any decent pay per view video solutions for low budget clients. So I'm considering using a membership extension with Joomla and hosting the video with amazon S3. The only issue is that once someone has signed up to view or download the video if they have any web development experience they will be able to get the url of the video and freely publish it on the web. How can this be prevented? It looks like it can be done using IAM User Temporary Credentials - AWS SDK for PHP but the client would prefer not to have to pay someone to spend hours writing custom php code to get this to work. With Amazon s3 I could at least check the log files I guess to manually monitor the url but is there a way to track the url with Google Analytics? or is there a more elegant solution?

  • Ubuntu 14.04 VLC Subtitles - Will not attach (unable to drag/drop or upload while viewing)

    I'm new to Ubuntu and a long time user of VLC with the Windows OS. In Windows, I was able to drag and drop the .sfv file onto the playing video and the subtitles would be enabled. In Ubuntu I try to drag and drop the .sfv file and it acts as though the .sfv file is a video and stops the actual video from playing. When I try to attach the .sfv file (view - subtitles - select text subtitles) I'm able to see the .sfv file I'd like to attach/open, although once I click open the file doesn't attach itself to the video. Does anyone know how to help me with this situation? I'm 2 seasons deep into Breaking Bad and attempting to read the body language of the characters during the Spanish parts has gone on way too long. (VOD or Video on Demand local) Streaming videos available on different websites that can be played on demand (VOD or Video on Demand remote) IPTV live streaming video feed Videos from three sources have to be played within single flash player that we need to design. There are 2 basic requirements: For the two VOD types, we have to provide the pause and play functionality. For IPTV, pause and play is not required, However, channel switching time is critically important here. The user should get the program behaviour as close to TV experience as possible. This means channel switching should be fast. To provide this, buffering of video is required for multiple channels. Now the questions is, is this possible? If yes, how? Secondly, what skill set (e.g. action script 3.0 , flash 10) should the flash programmer have to be able to design this? Thirdly is it as simple as making a normal FLV player? Or is it a more complex job?

  • Unable to extend desktop

    I'm trying to hook up my TV to my computer as a gaming/multimedia center but I'm having troubles setting it up. I have a custom built machine running Windows 7 RC. It has an ATI Radeon 4800 video card with 2 dvi output and 1 S-video output. I have an s-video to composite adapter that connects to my tv. (It's an old TV with only Cable, composite, and s-video connections). I can switch the desktop to my TV without a problem, but I can't duplicate or extend my desktop onto it. I've installed the latest drivers and Catalyst Control Center, but it won't let it work any more readily than Windows would. Any suggestions? Would using an s-video cable instead of the adapter change anything? (The only reason I use the adapter is because it came with the graphics card) (Edit) I installed the latest drivers and I can now duplicate the screen (show on one monitor and on the TV), but I still can't extend the desktop.

I have upgraded alsa-driver, alsa-lib and alsa-utils to 1.0.24 by building from source, thanks to this blog post.   • JS / HTML 5 Compatablity issue on iOS 6

    I'm using HTML 5 to play video and there are some content before the video so I'm using flexroll to scroll that whole window. I'm checking it on iPad, now problem is that in iOS 5 its working fine but when I update to iOS 6 then screen is not scrolling only video is scroll up and down, content is as it is in the position. I can't understand what is the exact problem. Is that js compatibility issue or HTML 5 video compatibility issue. Can anyone please help me to figure out, your help will really be appreciated.

What I'm unsure of is where is the best place to put the filtering/grouping logic of the viewmodel state?     so i recently installed ubuntu alongside windows 7 and i installed crysis 2 with wine. crysis 2 works fine when i run windows, however when i run it using wine in ubuntu cryengine gives me a message saying, "Unsupported video card detected! Continuing to run migth lead to unexpected results or crashes....." i've got two video cards ones an intel and the other's a nvidia. i typed lspci into the terminal and my nvidia card was listed under video controller as well

    There is such a good webcam in universe that acts as a "USB Video Class" (UVC - video USB standart interface) - the logitech webcam 9000. UVC offer unified interface allowing to control it or grab a picture from it by any UVC-driver. You need one universal driver and you support all the UVC devices (webcams, video-cameras, video-grabbing-cards etc). For example, in linux - if you have UVC driver - you don't need to think about specific webcam driver for UVC webcam. UVC has unified way that webcam transmit its awailable resolutions and other capabilities, so i see 1600x1200 resolution without any problem. I wonder if windows 7 has UVC. I mean "universal UVC" (-; It says "USB Video Class", but doesn't give resolutions larger than 640x480 and webcam's controls, like 'sharpness', 'focus' and other as linux's driver does...

    I am an experienced programmer but completely new to the market. Someone wants me to do a project for them, but I do not know how much it is worth. What are general guidelines/advices for finding what a project is worth on the market? If I can ask here about this particular one, it is a HTML5 site with a login/register form and a video player that has to play a lecture video and powerpoint slides synchronized. They'll give me the video, the audio the powerpoints. I should also do some editting on the video before.
