• C# Virtual Mode List View Click 1 Selects More Than One Items

  I have a list view with virtual mode set to true and other things. It doing ok. But 1) Say there are 25 items and 15 of them are visible, that is to see the rest of 10 items need to scroll down. 2) Before scrolling swap two items, say myItems[0], it must be visible & myItems[20], it must be not visible scroll required. 3) Now select the first item, it was swapped, you now have two items selected, both 0 indexed and 20 indexed ones. When after swap, those two list view items are of same Position and same Bounds. But before 20-indexed item's Position was (-1, -1) and Bounds was (0,0,0,0). How come 0-indexed item didn't change its position & size? How to solve this ?

• make mongrel_rails (localhost:3000) visible to a virtual machine

  I develop rails in ubuntu and i just set up a virtualbox windows xp virtual machine for IE testing. I'd like to be able to run mongrel_rails in ubuntu and then jump into the vm to check it out, so i can jump back, make a change, jump into the vm again, reload the page and test it, etc. Is this possible? In this sort of situation in the past i've had to set up an apache server on my dev machine and run mongrel under that, in order to get an externally visible (ie visible to my local network) ip address that i then paste into the address bar of IE in the vm. Is this really necessary? Is there a simpler way? Can i do something with my /etc/hosts or sites-available files to just make up some arbitrary network address which points to localhost:3000 in ubuntu? Or something? thanks, max

  I am trying to send messages over tcp/ip between two servers. I want to send a message that is 30KB. But I want to send it with as a whole. I don't want tcp protocol to break it into segments. I am using communication between 2 Windows Server 2008 R2. The client and the server are coded using c#. I tryed using tcpclnt.SendBufferSize = 100000; tcpclnt.Client.DontFragment = true; and the same at the server. I also tried configuring the window size of the server(editing the registry).

• Replacing TCP/IP pipe with WCF

  So currently my company is using a TCP/IP connection to talk between server and client programs, right now we are building this connection using System.RunTime.Remoting, which is clunky and not that reliable. It was built about 5 years ago and the model keeps getting reused and it's starting to propagate some issues, ports used, refused connections, etc. I'm trying to find some resources on how to change this over to WCF but I'm not really sure what I am looking for or what I should be searching. If you want some more information on what were actually doing with it I can go into some detail, but I'll need to pull up the code and make sure I explain it completely. thanks!

• Can I use memcpy in C++ to copy classes that have no pointers or virtual functions

  Say I have a class, something like the following; class MyClass { public: MyClass(); int a,b,c; double x,y,z; }; #define PageSize 1000000 MyClass Array1[PageSize],Array2[PageSize]; If my class has not pointers or virtual methods, is it safe to use the following? memcpy(Array1,Array2,PageSize*sizeof(MyClass)); The reason I ask, is that I'm dealing with very large collections of paged data, as decribed here, where performance is critical, and memcpy offers significant performance advantages over iterative assignment. I suspect it should be ok, as the 'this' pointer is an implicit parameter rather than anything stored, but are there any other hidden nasties I should be aware of?

I am looking for recommendations on Virtual Private Server Hosting featuring Windows Server 2008 plus MS SQL database capabilities. I have seen people suggest webhost4life.com, hostmysite.com and others but they do not offer windows server 2008 hosting, only 2003. I have also looked at mosso and aspnix.com. Mosso seems like a good move, but an hoping to find something below $100 a month and I have heard extremel mixed reviews on aspnix.com. Thanks for the help.

  I'm in the designing stages of a custom tcp/ip protocol for mobile client-server communication. When not required (data is not sensitive), I'd like to avoid using SSL for overhead reasons (both in handshake latency and conserving cycles). My question is, what is the best practices way of transmitting authentication information over an unencrypted connection? Currently, I'm liking SRP or J-PAKE (they generate secure session tokens, are hash/salt friendly, and allow kicking into TLS when necessary), which I believe are both implemented in OpenSSL. However, I am a bit wary since I don't see many people using these algorithms for this purpose. Would also appreciate pointers to any materials discussing this topic in general, since I had trouble finding any.

  I have a script that links to the server I am hosting (IP can change) usually I would just use for links: var url ='http://' + window.location.hostname + 'end of url'; But in this case it isnt appearing to be so easy. I have tried: (1) $('#scriptid').attr('src', url); as well as: (2) var script = document.createElement( 'script' ); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = url; $("#insert").append( script ); Now case (2) works loads the script runs the script. But when at the end of my script it hits the 'write data' it decides to replace the entire page with just the data. Any idea on how I can do this?

  Hi, I'm trying to create a virtual wiki but I already struggle with In your Class Editor, create a new class called "XWikiServerClass" Further reading in the DevGuide / DataModel shows that I'm not alone. I understand the words saying but I don't get the how-to as there is no option in the class-editior of creating new classes. Navigating to class editor shows an info box No class is defined in this wiki document. You can create one by adding properties from the panel on your right, or you can choose another class to edit from the list below. Ok, I added 'XWikiServerClass' and would have expected to be able to add a type class but that's not possible. I've tried a few properties but nothing shows up as a class in class editor.

The code is something like this (solution list is a *vector): void SolutionSet::sort(Comparator &comparator) { std::sort(solutionsList_->begin(), solutionsList_->end(), &comparator::compare); } The comparator param is a Comparator´s child class instance , and the compare method is virtual at Comparator class and implemented by all Comparator's child classes. And i want to use that function as a comparator function at std:sort(). Is this possible? If it is, can someone tell me how? Because with the previous code, it doesn't work.   Hello, This image gives a good picture about Virtual Adress space. But it only says half of the story. It only gives complete picture of User Adress space ie.. lower 50% (or 75% in some cases). What about the rest 50% (or 25%) which is occupied by the kernel. I know kernel also has so many different things like kernel modules , device drivers, core kernel itself. There must be some kind of layout right? What is its layout? If you say its Operating System dependent. I would say, there are two major operating systems Windows & Linux.   Is there a way to show subnode if the parent node is hidden in the Virtual String Tree ? I have some tasks in the tree structure and I wish to display only tasks which belongs to the current user as the list, but from all levels. What I've done is the function to display a list, which hides tree buttons, tree lines, sets the fixed indent and enable toShowHiddenNodes option. Then in this function I iterate through the whole tree (all levels) and hide nodes which doesn't belong to the current user IsVisible[Node] := False and show those which belongs him IsVisible[Node] := True, but the subnodes which should be displayed are invisible when their parent is hidden. • API for configuring static IP addresses in an android application

  Is it possible to set the IP address of an interface in Android within an application? I can query the available interfaces and their current addresses using java.net.NetworkInterface, but this doesn't provide a facility to change these. Did I just miss something somewhere or is it not allowed? I was hoping to be able to make my application either change or add an alias to one or more of the existing interfaces at runtime on an "off the shelf" device. (2.1/2.2). Ideally I'd like to do this for both IPv4 and v6 addresses.

• WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - unable to access data

  I have a WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - (WD20000H2NC-00) Was working fine until a few days ago. I guess there was a power failure and after that I am unable to access the 'Public' or the 'Download' folder anymore. I have been searching for answers everywhere but came up empty handed. Web GUI still works, SSH works. I hooked up both the drives on my PC and UFS Explorer sees the drive. But so far I am unable to retrieve any of my data. I do not remember what RAID setting I used when I first got the drive. I can see from GUI that it is set as "Stripe". The drive contains 10 years of family pictures which I really do not want to loose. Sadly and stupidly, I didn't even keep a backup of this drive. Can somebody please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for your help. Disk Utility on Ubuntu reports 1405 bad sectors on one drive. How can I retrieve my data? Please help. • Daemon program that uses select() inside infinite loop uses significantly more CPU when ported from

  I have a daemon app written in C and is currently running with no known issues on a Solaris 10 machine. I am in the process of porting it over to Linux. I have had to make minimal changes. During testing it passes all test cases. There are no issues with its functionality. However, when I view its CPU usage when 'idle' on my Solaris machine it is using around .03% CPU. On the Virtual Machine running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.8 that same process uses all available CPU (usually somewhere in the 90%+ range). My first thought was that something must be wrong with the event loop. The event loop is an infinite loop ( while(1) ) with a call to select(). The timeval is setup so that timeval.tv_sec = 0 and timeval.tv_usec = 1000. This seems reasonable enough for what the process is doing. As a test I bumped the timeval.tv_sec to 1. Even after doing that I saw the same issue. Is there something I am missing about how select works on Linux vs. Unix? Or does it work differently with and OS running on a Virtual Machine? Or maybe there is something else I am missing entirely? One more thing I am sure sure which version of vmware server is being used. It was just updated about a month ago though. Thanks.

Interface A is shared by multiple objects. But the implementation of A is dependent on the template argument. Interface B is the seen by the outside world, and needs to be abstrakt. The reason I would like this is that it would allow me to define object C like this: Define the interface C inheriting from abstrakt A. Define the implementation of C using a different datatype for template A. I hope I'm clear. Is there any way to do this, or do I need to rethink my design?
