  I have a few computers connected through a Gigabit router which show 1Gbps connections. However, one of the computers only shows 100Mbps connectivity even though it is capable of 1Gbps. I am not seeing an errors in the event viewer. • How do I effectively store a connection string in machine.config only?

  We are moving to an environment with multiple engines of MS SQL running on the same server (a test engine and a production engine). We also have separate test and production web servers, and would like for our asp.net applications to "magically" use the test database engine on the test web server and the production database engine on the production web servers. We would like to store the connection strings in machine.config rather than in web.config, but when we put it in machine.config, visual studio's IDE (particularly with datasets) does not recognize that the machine.config contains the connection. Does anyone know of a solution for displaying these machine.config connection strings in visual studio, or of a different solution that would accommodate for this? Thanks.

  My company has several web applications written in ASP.NET. We need to make these applications available to Intranet users as well as authenticated external users. Most of the features are the same for the two groups, though there are some extra features available to the Internal users. The two different sets of users would use a slightly different security setup... our internal people will be authenticated using LDAP against Exchange, whereas the external users will have accounts in SQL Server. What is the best approach for deploying our web apps? Should we deploy 2 copies to different servers, one configured for an Intranet and one for outside users? Or is there a better way to share the code between the 2 servers, yet have the flexibility to use different web.config settings for security??

• .htaccess wildcard problem

  I've come across a problem with an .htaccess rule I can't sort out. It works on my MAMP stack and it works on 3 other servers, but it won't work on a particular server and keeps giving me a "500 error with an additional 302 error". It's the wildcard that's throwing it and from Google research it says it may be because of an infinite loop, but it works on other servers just fine.   I'm just need some help about server design. I need help in the design of the structure of the server application. Need to develop a network of servers that interact with each other. If a server receives a request and the server can not comply it, then the request is sent to another server and the result will be refunded to the sender. Information on all servers is different, and sender did not know where the result is placed in. The first thing that comes to mind is to use the model(scheme) of the DNS. But any interesting detailed articles on this subject I have not found. Any ideas?

• Does TCP actually define 'TCP server' and 'TCP clients'? [closed]

  In the Wikipedia article, TCP communication is explained using the terms 'client' and 'server'. It also uses the word 'peers'. But TCP actually does not define "TCP clients" and "TCP servers" - In the RFC 675 document (SPECIFICATION OF INTERNET TRANSMISSION CONTROL PROGRAM), the word "client" never appears. The RFC explains that TCP is used to connect processes over ports (sockets), and that 'A pair of sockets form a CONNECTION which can be used to carry data in either direction [i.e. full duplex]. Calling the originating party the "client" seems to be common practice. But this client/server communication model is not always applicable to TCP communication. For example take peer-to-peer networks. Calling all processes which open a socket (and wait for incoming connections from peers) "TCP servers", sounds wrong to me. I would not call my uncle's telephone device a "Telephony server" if I dial his phone number and he picks up.

  i have hosting accout in go daddy its a delux plan so i can assign more than one url right now i got two of them they both registerd throgh go daddy in the same account. right now i would like to give some storage space to a freind that have a url ( also go ddady) in a different account . and i do not know how to do it . i think he needs to set up his name servers as my name servers so he did and than i should add his url in the domain maneger i did that also and even installed joomla on this particular folder that i assinged to his url nothing happenend . am i missing somthing ? plz help if you can :)

• Vim plugin Align fails to work. Can it be installed without vimball?

  I've happily installed the vim Align plugin on my home computer, but on the Red Hat servers at work, the installation doesn't work. The servers at work have a very old copy (2006) of vimball, which from Googling I know doesn't support more recent vimballs, including Align. I can't get the systems group (IT department) to upgrade vimball, so I thought perhaps I could simply copy the various files into ~/.vim/plugin by hand. I copied the 3 files from my home system AlignMapsPlugin.vim AlignPlugin.vim cecutil.vim, but when I attempt to use Align from within vim I get the following error message E117: Unknown function: Align#Align I know that it's seeing the plugin, because when I remove the plugin the error message is different (it says "Not an editor command Align"). Is there a workaround for this? I love "Align" and would sure like to use it at work as well as at home.

• copying files from one windows server to another

  I have to copy a file from a windows 2008 server to one or more windows 2008 servers. I have accounts on the target machines with enough privileges to let me use powershell remoting and use wmi. The remote machines do not run ftp, ssh or similar file transfer mechanisms. I am not allowed to install software or run new services on the target server. I can run services on the source server. The file copy action must be initiated from the source server. i.e. I cannot manually logon to the target machines and initiate the copy - though an automated way to do this is acceptable. Is it possible to use WMI or PowerShell Remoting to push or pull the file from the source to the target ? Is it possible to invoke some sort of built in http client or invoke the BITS service/agent on the remote servers to pull files from the source server ? Other suggestions please.

• Java import from other directory

  Hi People! I am building a Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) with Java. I won't get into details But I have to build multiple servers who make use of the same classes. I have the following directory structure: /server1 -Main.java /server2 -Main.java /com -Database.java I want to import from the Main.java class for example the Database.class. But of course the following statements won't work: import com.Database; I am working with the javac compiler in the command line (so not eclipse stuff or whatever. just TextMate and the command line). And I found a (pretty stupid) solution by creating a symbolic link in the servers to the com directory. But that is not really an ideal solution. Does anybody have a better one?? So I want to do this on Mac too.. is there an equivalent? I'd like to avoid setting environment variables if possible.

• JMS message received at only one server

  I'm having a problem with a JEE6 application running in a clustered environment using WebSphere ApplicationServer 8. A search index is used for quick search in the UI (using Lucene), which must be re-indexed after new data arrived in the corresponding DB layer. To achieve this we're sending a JMS message to the application, then the search index will be refreshed. The problem is, that the messages only arrives at one of the cluster members. So only there the search index is up to date. At the other servers it remains outdated. How can I achieve that the search index gets updated at all cluster members? Can I receive the message somehow on all servers? Or is there a better way to do this?
