    I have two young kids who have gotten rather computer saavy. They love playing their games, especially when it allows them to print out awards or coloring pages. Unfortunately this means that in the time it takes to refresh my cup of coffee, they can easily drop a 10 page document into the printer queue, and my printer ink runs out rather fast. How would I setup some kind of password protection on the printing, so that I would have to do some kind of final approval before they get their printouts?

  • How can I create my own Android Home Screen Launcher

    I want to know how I can create my own customised home screen for Android. I have used Viewpager to add and remove screens from the home screen, creating 5 screens as default, and then adding and removing further pages in with ViewPager. I have tried both Viewpager and PagerAdapter, as per this link. Is this the best approach so that in future I can add widgets and shortcuts with viewpager and make a launcher icon?

  • How do I disable animations in Preview in Lion?

    For example, open up a pdf and set view to two pages and hit arrow key up/down. Is there a way to get rid of the animation? Preview feels really snappy and fast, and to have animations like that just spoils all the fun. Might seem like a proper first world problem, especially if you're just a casual user of pdfs. But I frequently have 10+ pdfs open for referencing purposes (that is, a lot of flicking back and fourth), and the animation just drives me nuts.

    I have an OpenOffice spreadsheet into which I occasionally copy/paste snippets from web pages. However, I need the file, as a whole, to be free of fancy formatting and non-ASCII text. Is tried highlighting cells and selecting "Default Formatting" but this still seems to keep extraneous characters even though it looks like normal text to the human eye. If this is not possible, is there a way to at least reveal the "raw" data within a cell so that I can manually strip it? Thanks, Jeff

    Is it possible to use mod_rewrite to force all users entering a site (either through a link from another site, or by typing a URL in the address bar) to be redirected to the homepage? From the homepage (or any page within the site), users should then be able to access other pages in the site. But all users would be forced to enter the site through the homepage. Can this be done with mod_rewrite (or without using a scripting language)?

    When I access http://localhost/ I get 403 Forbidden, but if I access http://localhost/~username it serves up pages. Things I've tried: Checking error logs Swapping out with original httpd conf files Changing DocumentRoot to my user directory (after all that should work if I can access ~username) I've seen 30 plus Q&A sites that all point to people having trouble with user directories being forbidden. I have the opposite problem, and so I'm tearing my hair out here.

    I use a tk domain name and another web host to host my blog site. I redirect DNS query to xxxhost.[myhost].com and tell my web host my domain name. (since my web host is virtual one) This works OK. But now I want to use an email service provided by third party, which requires adding a MX record to my DNS service. But this cannot be done on my web host management pages. Is there any workaround for this?

Is it true that "Cached memory" (as shown in the image below) refers to memory that is currently cached (available for use), and memory that was previous cached (previously available for use), but currently used (now not available for use) ? So if x = "Cached memory" (1184), y = "modified cache pages", z = "cached and were modified", x = y + z holds true ?

    Trying to save time and I need an easy way to make sure copied text from word is UTF-8 compatible for the web. Generally I have to copy and paste 4 or 5 pages of text at a time. Going through it and correcting characters individually is a real time waster. Anyone have any ideas? Is there a setting in Microsoft Word I might be missing?

    My Windows Server 2008 server hosts an ASP.net application that uses impersonation. The application works as long as the user being impersonated remains logged on to the server. However, when the user logs off, clients can no longer view the web pages. They get a cryptic error instead. How can I configure the server to work without the impersonated user remaining logged on?     My ThinkPad notebook has "next page" and "previous page" buttons right next to the cursor keys. While writing code (sometimes in textareas on pages such as StackOverflow) accidentally hitting one of these keys is very annoying - either you navigate away or you get the "do you really want to navigate way" prompt. I never use those keys anyway so I wonder if there's an option in Firefox to ignore those keys. An option to remap them globally or simply disable them would (OS: Windows 7) be fine, too.

The M1015 is essentially a LSI 9240-8i From http://www.lsi.com/products/storagecomponents/Pages/MegaRAIDSAS9240-8i.aspx The only driver for Solaris is a old 32bit driver? I'd like to Flash it also, but can't seem to figure out which util to use.. The linux one from IBM screams for libraries that aren't included in the libraries section.

  • Getting an ASP.MVC2/VS2010 application to work in IIS 7.5

    I've recently downloaded beta 2 of VS2010 and started playing with ASP.NET MVC2. Initial development was done with Casini, but now I wanted to run the application from IIS 7.5 (I'm running Windows 7). I've installed the IIS6 metabase compatiblity and I run VS2010 as administrator so I can use the "Create Virtual Directory" button from the "Web" tab of the project settings. This created the web application entry in IIS, but it doesn't work. When I go to the main page (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/) I get a HTTP 403 error. When I go directly to one of the sub-pages (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/Home/) I get an HTTP 404. So I guess for some reason the URL routing isn't working. I've already added UrlRouting as a module and a handler to the web.config. In my searches this is offered as a solution for some similair problems. But for me this still doesn't work.   • getting database connectivity issue from only one part of my ASP.net project?

Suddenly I am now getting connection errors when going to the DD navigation pages, but things work fine on the default DD main page, and also other MVC pages I've added in myself work fine to the database.   • Pagination links broken - php/jquery

    Hey, I'm still trying to get my pagination links to load properly dynamically. But I can't seem to find a solution to this one problem. vote down star Hi everyone, I am still trying to figure out how to fix my pagination script to work properly. the problem I am having is when I click any of the pagination number links to go the next page, the new content does not load. literally nothing happens and when looking at the console in Firebug, nothing is sent or loaded. I have on the main page 3 links to filter the content and display it. When any of these links are clicked the results are loaded and displayed along with the associated pagination numbers for that specific content. I believe the problem is coming from the sql query in generate_pagination.php (seen below). When I hard code the sql category part it works, but is not dynamic at all. This is why I'm calling $ids=$_GET['ids']; and trying to put that into the category section but then the numbers don't display at all.     I've got custom errors to work for .aspx page like: www.domain.com/whateverdfdgdfg.aspx But, when no .aspx url is requested, (like http://www.domain.com/hfdkfdh4545) it results in an error: HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. I have this in my web.config: <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="/error/1" redirectMode="ResponseRedirect"> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/404.aspx" /> </customErrors> 404.aspx exists, since the above DOES work when requesting non-existent .aspx pages... I also configured the errorpages in IIS7: Status code: 404 Path: /404.aspx Type: Execute URL Entry type: Local My websites application pool setting is "ASP.NET v4.0" Now why is this still not working?

    I updated to Ubuntu 13.10 (from Ubuntu 13.04) last weekend, and now Apache is not being able to start. It was working perfectly well until the upgraded, and I haven't changed anything myself. When I ran a restart this is what I get apache2: Syntax error on line 260 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/conf.d/: No such file or directory So, I created the directory, and then I get this: * Starting web server apache2 * * The apache2 configtest failed.
