  • clam anti-virus is slowing down my server performance significantly

    Hey guys, I just installed clam av http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-clamav/ for scanning file uploads on my linux VPN running php. The problem is that for some reason just initiating the extension in the php ini file slows down my entire network. Regular requests such as changing pages that should take less than 1 second take 5.   • How should Application.Run() be called for the main presenter of a MVP WinForms app?

    I'm learning to apply MVP to a simple WinForms app (only one form) in C# and encountered an issue while creating the main presenter in static void Main(). Is it a good idea to expose a View from the Presenter in order to supply it as a parameter to Application.Run()? Currently, I've implemented an approach which allows me to not expose the View as a property of Presenter: static void Main() { IView view = new View(); Model model = new Model(); Presenter presenter = new Presenter(view, model); presenter.Start(); Application.Run(); } The Start and Stop methods in Presenter: public void Start() { view.Start(); } public void Stop() { view.Stop(); } The Start and Stop methods in View (a Windows Form): public void Start() { this.Show(); } public void Stop() { // only way to close a message loop called // via Application.Run(); without a Form parameter Application.Exit(); } The Application.Exit() call seems like an inelegant way to close the Form (and the application). The other alternative would be to expose the View as a public property of the Presenter in order to call Application.Run() with a Form parameter. static void Main() { IView view = new View(); Model model = new Model(); Presenter presenter = new Presenter(view, model); Application.Run(presenter.View); } The Start and Stop methods in Presenter remain the same.     This is a pretty simple question- how can I check if a NSURL is linking to a local file? I know, RTFM, but I checked the documentation and I don't seem to see any methods related to this. The only methods I did find were -isFileReferenceURL and -isFileURL, but I think these only check if the URL directly links to a file. note: I'm making an iPhone app, so by "local file" I mean a .html file stored in the project's resources. Thanks for any help in advance.

    I'm writing a crossplatform python script on windows using Eclipse with the Pydev plugin. The script makes use of the os.symlink() and os.readlink() methods if the current platform isn't NT. Since the os.symlink() and os.readlink() methods aren't available on the windows platform Pydev flags them as undefined variables--like so: Is there a way to explicitly ignore certain undefined variable name errors (e.g. os.symlink())?

    Interface (or an abstract class with all the methods abstract) is a powerful weapon in a static language. It allows different derived types to be used in a uniformed way. However, in a dynamic language, all objects can be used in a uniformed way as long as they define certain methods. Does interface exist in dynamic languages? It seems unnecessary to me.

  • Using IIS7 why are my PNGs being cached by the browser, but my JS and CSS files not?

    I am trying to sort out caching in IIS for my site. Basically, I want nothing cached, except for .png, .js, and .css files. At my site level, I opened the HTTP Reponse Headers and used the "Set Common Hedaers..." to set content to expire immediately. I have no Output Caching profiles set at any level in IIS. I clear my browser cache then try accessing my site.   • [Symfony 1.2: ckWebServicePlugin 3.0.0] Module name in SOAP requests, how to get rid of them?

    When I generate a WSDL file with ./symfony webservice:generate-wsdl (where is 'frontend', is 'soap' and is 'http://localhost ') I get a nice soap.wsdl file which works like it should. Except, the methods are not named 'justAMethod' but 'soapService_justAMethod' (where soapService is the module which holds the SOAP methods). How do I omit the module name in the SOAP method names? I know this is possible since the previous release of the software had no module name in the SOAP method names.

  • How do I use the information about exceptions a method throws in .NET in my code?

    For many methods in .NET, the exceptions they can potentially throw can be as many as 7-8 (one or two methods in XmlDocument, Load() being one I think, can throw this many exceptions). Does this mean I have to write 8 catch blocks to catch all of these exceptions (it is best practise to catch an exception with a specific exception block and not just a general catch block of type Exception).   • When using delegates, need better way to do sequential processing

    I have a class WebServiceCaller that uses NSURLConnection to make asynchronous calls to a web service. The class provides a delegate property and when the web service call is done, it calls a method webServiceDoneWithXXX on the delegate. There are several web service methods that can be called, two of which are say GetSummary and GetList. The classes that use WebServiceCaller initially need both the summary and list so they are written like this: -(void)getAllData { [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetSummary { [webServiceCaller getList]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetList { ... } This works but there are at least two problems: The calls are split across delegate methods so it's hard to see the sequence at a glance but more important it's hard to control or modify the sequence. Sometimes I want to call just GetSummary and not also GetList so I would then have to use an ugly class-level state variable that tells webServiceDoneWithGetSummary whether to call GetList or not. Assume that GetList cannot be done until GetSummary completes and returns some data which is used as input to GetList. Is there a better way to handle this and still get asynchronous calls? Update based on Matt Long's answer: Using notifications instead of a delegate, it looks like I can solve problem #2 by setting a different selector depending on whether I want the full sequence (GetSummary+GetList) or just GetSummary. Both observers would still use the same notification name when calling GetSummary. It seems better than having state variables and if-then statements but you have to write more methods. I still don't see a solution for problem 1.

  • System fan connection on Mini-ITX server case and motherboard

    The case: Newegg listing for Chenbro ES34169-BK-120 The motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-D525TUD (Newegg has it as well but I can't post more than one link due to being a new user) As far as the question, the system fan I have no idea how to get these to connect to the motherboard. There are two connectors which then go to extension fan cables. So when you connect these, it should be good, but the extension cables are two connectors that go to the system fans and a female molex connector (if you click the Chenbro listing, look at the 6th picture and you'll see the two connections being made and the molex connector just kind of hanging out in the case). Is there a piece I'm missing to get it to connect to the 3 pin sys_fan section of the board? Thanks,

This is a little time consuming because I have to use the mouse to scroll up to the declaration of the method and click on the - (minus) icon. And then respectively go to the method I want to work on and click on the + (plus) icon. Is there a way through a keyboard shortcut to do the collapse (and respectively the expand)?

    Trying to install Vanilla 2 locally using MAMP i got the error: "You must have the MySQL driver for PDO enabled in order for Vanilla to connect to your database". When I check phpinfo() I see: --with-pdo-mysql=shared,/Applications/MAMP/Library --with-pdo-pgsql=shared,/Applications/MAMP/Library/pg When I go and check out those paths I find the files: libpq.5.dylib libpq.dylib libpq.5.2.dylib When I check my php.ini file I see: ; Extensions extension=pdo_mysql.so In php.ini the path to the extension dir is correct (checked it manually): extension_dir = "/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5.3/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/" In this folder I find the file: pdo_mysql.so phpinfo() gives me two sections: PDO PDO drivers: sqlite, sqlite2 and pdo_sqlite SQLite Library: 3.6.22 So everything seems to be fine, but can't get the PDO MySQL driver working :(

I have methods that return a value when passed an an object as parameter, such as: <%= average_rainfall(@location) % I'd like to use the exact same methods as a nested resource to call via jQuery/Ajax, like so: .load('/location/8/average_rainfall') I understand how to define the route, but how do I tell my method to 'find' /location/8 and use that as it's parameter instead of @location as expected?   • Disable static content caching in IIS 7

    I'm a developer having what should be a relatively simple problem in IIS 7 on Windows Server 2008 R2. The problem is that IIS 7 is overzealously caching all static content on the server. It's caching all .html and .js content and not noticing when the content changes on disk unless I iisreset. I've tried the following: Deleting the local cache in my browser (I'm 99% positive this is a server caching issue) In IIS Admin in OutputCaching adding an .html extension and unchecking "User mode caching" and unchecking "Kernel-mode caching" In IIS Admin in OutputCaching adding an .html extension and checking "User mode caching" and selecting the radio for "Prevent all caching" In IIS Admin editing Output Cache Feature settings and unchecking "Enable cache" and "Enable kernel cache under OutputCaching. Running "C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config\appcmd set config "SharePoint - 80" -section: system.webServer/caching -enabled:false" Looking through applicationHost.config and disabling anything related to caching I could find. Nothing seems to work. I'm getting very frustrated. Can anyone please help?
