  • Inaccurate performance counter timer values in Windows Performance Monitor

    - by krisg
    I am implementing instrumentation within an application and have encountered an issue where the value that is displayed in Windows Performance Monitor from a PerformanceCounter is incongruent with the value that is recorded. I am using a Stopwatch to record the duration of a method execution, then first i record the total milliseconds as a double, and secondly i pass the Stopwatch's TimeSpan.Ticks to the PerformanceCounter to be recorded in the Performance Monitor. Creating the Performance Counters in perfmon: var datas = new CounterCreationDataCollection(); datas.Add(new CounterCreationData { CounterName = name, CounterType = PerformanceCounterType.AverageTimer32 }); datas.Add(new CounterCreationData { CounterName = namebase, CounterType = PerformanceCounterType.AverageBase }); PerformanceCounterCategory.Create("Category", "performance data", PerformanceCounterCategoryType.SingleInstance, datas); Then to record i retrieve a pre-initialized counter from a collection and increment: _counters[counter].IncrementBy(timing); _counters[counterbase].Increment(); ...where "timing" is the Stopwatch's TimeSpan.Ticks value. When this runs, the collection of double's, which are the milliseconds values for the Stopwatch's TimeSpan show one set of values, but what appears in PerfMon are a different set of values. For example... two values recorded in the List of milliseconds are: 23322.675, 14230.614 And what appears in PerfMon graph are: 15.546, 9.930 Can someone explain this please?

  • How do you load and save content from a Silverlight 4 RichTextBox control?

    - by AnthonyWJones
    I've been reviewing the features of the RichTextBox control in Silverlight 4. What I've yet to find is any examples of Loading and Saving content in the RichTextBox. Anyone come across any or can shed some light on it? The control has a BlocksCollection in which I guess one could use the XamlReader to load a bunch of markup assuming that markup has a single top level node of type Block. Then add that block to the Blocks collection. Seems a shame that the RichTextBox bothers to have a "collection" in this case, why not simply a top-level Block item? Never-the-less that still leaves saving the content of a RichTextBox, I have no idea where to begin with that one? I'm sure I must be missing the obvious here but unless loading and saving data in to and from RichTextBox is at least possible if not easy I can't see how we can actually put it to use. Edit Thanks to DaveB's answer I found discussion of something called the DocumentPersister. However no reference to this class can be found in the MSDN documentation nor can I find it in the installed dlls via object browser search. Anyone, anyone at all?

  • Retrieve enum value based on XmlEnumAttribute name value

    - by CletusLoomis
    I need a Generic function to retrieve the name or value of an enum based on the XmlEnumAttribute "Name" property of the enum. For example I have the following enum defined: Public Enum Currency <XmlEnum("00")> CDN = 1 <XmlEnum("01")> USA= 2 <XmlEnum("02")> EUR= 3 <XmlEnum("03")> JPN= 4 End Enum The first Currency enum value is 1; the enum name is "CDN"; and the XMLEnumAttribute Name property value is "00". If I have the enum value, I can retrieve the XmlEnumAttribute "Name" value using the following generic function: Public Function GetXmlAttrNameFromEnumValue(Of T)(ByVal pEnumVal As T) As String Dim type As Type = pEnumVal.GetType Dim info As FieldInfo = type.GetField([Enum].GetName(GetType(T), pEnumVal)) Dim att As XmlEnumAttribute = CType(info.GetCustomAttributes(GetType(XmlEnumAttribute), False)(0), XmlEnumAttribute) 'If there is an xmlattribute defined, return the name Return att.Name End Function So using the above function, I can specify the Currency enum type, pass a value of 1, and the return value will be "00". What I need is a function to perform if the opposite. If I have the XmlEnumAttribute Name value "00", I need a function to return a Currency enum with a value of 1. Just as useful would be a function that would return the enum name "CDN". I could then simply parse this to get the enum value. Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Rally Rest .NET API throws KeyNotFoundException when posting a new defect without required field value

    - by Triet Pham
    I've tried to post a new defect to Rally via Rest .net api by the following code: var api = new RallyRestApi("<myusername>", "<mypassword>", "https://community.rallydev.com"); var defect = new DynamicJsonObject(); defect["Name"] = "Sample Defect"; defect["Description"] = "Test posting defect without required field value"; defect["Project"] = "https://trial.rallydev.com/slm/webservice/1.29/project/5808130051.js"; defect["SubmittedBy"] = "https://trial.rallydev.com/slm/webservice/1.29/user/5797741589.js"; defect["ScheduleState"] = "In-Progress"; defect["State"] = "Open"; CreateResult creationResult = api.Create("defect", defect); But the api throws a weird exception: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException was unhandled Message=The given key was not present in the dictionary. Source=mscorlib StackTrace: at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.get_Item(TKey key) at Rally.RestApi.DynamicJsonObject.GetMember(String name) at Rally.RestApi.DynamicJsonObject.TryGetMember(GetMemberBinder binder, Object& result) at CallSite.Target(Closure , CallSite , Object ) at System.Dynamic.UpdateDelegates.UpdateAndExecute1[T0,TRet](CallSite site, T0 arg0) at Rally.RestApi.RallyRestApi.Create(String type, DynamicJsonObject obj) at RallyIntegrationSample.Program.Main(String[] args) in D:\Projects\qTrace\References\Samples\RallyIntegrationSample\Program.cs:line 24 The problem is when i checked out the trace log file of Rally, it showed exactly what wrong in the posting request: Rally.RestApi Post Response: { "CreateResult": { "_rallyAPIMajor":"1", "_rallyAPIMinor":"29", "Errors":["Validation error: Defect.Severity should not be null"], "Warnings":[] } } Instead of given the proper CreateResult object with according errors information in its property, the Rally Rest .Net Api throws an unexpected exception. Is that a mistake in Rally rest .net api or should i do any extra steps to get the CreatResult seamlessly in case of any errors returned by Rally service? Many thanks for your helps.

  • C# WCF Server retrieves 'List<T>' with 1 entry, but client doesn't receive it?! Please help Urgentl

    - by Neville
    Hi Everyone, I've been battling and trying to research this issue for over 2 days now with absolutely no luck. I am trying to retrieve a list of clients from the server (server using fluentNHibernate). The client object is as follow: [DataContract] //[KnownType(typeof(System.Collections.Generic.List<ContactPerson>))] //[KnownType(typeof(System.Collections.Generic.List<Address>))] //[KnownType(typeof(System.Collections.Generic.List<BatchRequest>))] //[KnownType(typeof(System.Collections.Generic.List<Discount>))] [KnownType(typeof(EClientType))] [KnownType(typeof(EComType))] public class Client { #region Properties [DataMember] public virtual int ClientID { get; set; } [DataMember] public virtual EClientType ClientType { get; set; } [DataMember] public virtual string RegisterID {get; set;} [DataMember] public virtual string HerdCode { get; set; } [DataMember] public virtual string CompanyName { get; set; } [DataMember] public virtual bool InvoicePerBatch { get; set; } [DataMember] public virtual EComType ResultsComType { get; set; } [DataMember] public virtual EComType InvoiceComType { get; set; } //[DataMember] //public virtual IList<ContactPerson> Contacts { get; set; } //[DataMember] //public virtual IList<Address> Addresses { get; set; } //[DataMember] //public virtual IList<BatchRequest> Batches { get; set; } //[DataMember] //public virtual IList<Discount> Discounts { get; set; } #endregion #region Overrides public override bool Equals(object obj) { var other = obj as Client; if (other == null) return false; return other.GetHashCode() == this.GetHashCode(); } public override int GetHashCode() { return ClientID.GetHashCode() | ClientType.GetHashCode() | RegisterID.GetHashCode() | HerdCode.GetHashCode() | CompanyName.GetHashCode() | InvoicePerBatch.GetHashCode() | ResultsComType.GetHashCode() | InvoiceComType.GetHashCode();// | Contacts.GetHashCode() | //Addresses.GetHashCode() | Batches.GetHashCode() | Discounts.GetHashCode(); } #endregion } As you can see, I have allready tried to remove the sub-lists, though even with this simplified version of the client I still run into the propblem. my fluent mapping is: public class ClientMap : ClassMap<Client> { public ClientMap() { Table("Clients"); Id(p => p.ClientID); Map(p => p.ClientType).CustomType<EClientType>(); ; Map(p => p.RegisterID); Map(p => p.HerdCode); Map(p => p.CompanyName); Map(p => p.InvoicePerBatch); Map(p => p.ResultsComType).CustomType<EComType>(); Map(p => p.InvoiceComType).CustomType<EComType>(); //HasMany<ContactPerson>(p => p.Contacts) // .KeyColumns.Add("ContactPersonID") // .Inverse() // .Cascade.All(); //HasMany<Address>(p => p.Addresses) // .KeyColumns.Add("AddressID") // .Inverse() // .Cascade.All(); //HasMany<BatchRequest>(p => p.Batches) // .KeyColumns.Add("BatchID") // .Inverse() // .Cascade.All(); //HasMany<Discount>(p => p.Discounts) // .KeyColumns.Add("DiscountID") // .Inverse() // .Cascade.All(); } The client method, seen below, connects to the server. The server retrieves the list, and everything looks right in the object, still, when it returns, the client doesn't receive anything (it receive a List object, but with nothing in it. Herewith the calling method: public List<s.Client> GetClientList() { try { s.DataServiceClient svcClient = new s.DataServiceClient(); svcClient.Open(); List<s.Client> clients = new List<s.Client>(); clients = svcClient.GetClientList().ToList<s.Client>(); svcClient.Close(); //when receiving focus from server, the clients object has a count of 0 return clients; } catch (Exception e) { MessageBox.Show(e.Message); } return null; } and the server method: public IList<Client> GetClientList() { var clients = new List<Client>(); try { using (var session = SessionHelper.OpenSession()) { clients = session.Linq<Client>().Where(p => p.ClientID > 0).ToList<Client>(); } } catch (Exception e) { EventLog.WriteEntry("eCOWS.Data", e.Message); } return clients; //returns a list with 1 client in it } the server method interface is: [UseNetDataContractSerializer] [OperationContract] IList<Client> GetClientList(); for final references, here is my client app.config entries: <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding name="NetTcpBinding_IDataService" listenBacklog="10" maxConnections="10" transferMode="Buffered" transactionProtocol="OleTransactions" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" maxBufferSize="2147483647" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:10:00"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="51200000" maxStringContentLength="51200000" maxArrayLength="51200000" maxBytesPerRead="51200000" maxNameTableCharCount="51200000" /> <security mode="Transport"/> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="net.tcp://localhost:9000/eCOWS/DataService" binding="netTcpBinding" bindingConfiguration="NetTcpBinding_IDataService" contract="eCowsDataService.IDataService" name="NetTcpBinding_IDataService" behaviorConfiguration="eCowsEndpointBehavior"> </endpoint> <endpoint address="MEX" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> </client> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="eCowsEndpointBehavior"> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="2147483647"/> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> and my server app.config: <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding name="netTcpBinding" maxConnections="10" listenBacklog="10" transferMode="Buffered" transactionProtocol="OleTransactions" maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" sendTimeout="00:10:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="51200000" maxStringContentLength="51200000" maxArrayLength="51200000" maxBytesPerRead="51200000" maxNameTableCharCount="51200000" /> <security mode="Transport"/> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> <services> <service name="eCows.Data.Services.DataService" behaviorConfiguration="eCowsServiceBehavior"> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="http://localhost:9001/eCOWS/" /> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:9000/eCOWS/" /> </baseAddresses> </host> <endpoint address="DataService" binding="netTcpBinding" contract="eCows.Data.Services.IDataService" behaviorConfiguration="eCowsEndpointBehaviour"> </endpoint> <endpoint address="MEX" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> </service> </services> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="eCowsEndpointBehaviour"> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="2147483647" /> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="eCowsServiceBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="True"/> <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="10" maxConcurrentSessions="10"/> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="False" /> </behavior> <behavior name="MexBehaviour"> <serviceMetadata /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> I use to run into "socket closed / network or timeout" errors, and the trace showed clearly that on the callback it was looking for a listening endpoint, but couldn't find one. Anyway, after adding the UseNetSerializer that error went away, yet now I'm just not getting anything. Oh PS. if I add all the commented out List items, I still retrieve an entry from the DB, but also still not receive anything on the client. if I remove the [UseNetDataContractSerializer] I get the following error(s) in the svclog : WARNING: Description Faulted System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServerSessionPreambleConnectionReader+ServerFramingDuplexSessionChannel WARNING: Description Faulted System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel ERROR: Initializing[eCows.Data.Models.Client#3]-failed to lazily initialize a collection of role: eCows.Data.Models.Client.Addresses, no session or session was closed ... ERROR: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'ILogbookManager' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element. If I add a .Not.LazyLoad to the List mapping items, I'm back at not receiving errors, but also not receiving any client information.. Sigh! Please, if anyone can help with this I'd be extremely grateful. I'm probably just missing something small.. but... what is it :) hehe. Thanks in advance! Neville

  • LINQ To SQL ignore unique constraint exception and continue

    - by Martin
    I have a single table in a database called Users Users ------ ID (PK, Identity) Username (Unique Index) I have setup a unique index on the Username table to prevent duplicates. I am then enumerating through a collection and creating a new user in the database for each item. What I want to do is just insert a new user and ignore the exception if the unique key constraint is violated (as it's clearly a duplicate record in that case). This is to avoid having to craft where not exists kind of queries. First off, is this going to be any more efficient or should my insert code be checking for duplicates instead? I'm drawn more to the database having that logic as this prevents any other type of client from inserting duplicate data. My other issue is related to LINQ To SQL. I have the following code: public class TestRepo { DatabaseDataContext database = new DatabaseDataContext(); public void Add(string username) { database.Users.InsertOnSubmit(new User() { Username = username }); } public void Save() { database.SubmitChanges(); } } And then I iterate over a collection and insert new users, ignoring any exceptions: TestRepo repo = new TestRepo(); foreach (var name in new string[] { "Tim", "Bob", "John" }) { try { repo.Add(name); repo.Save(); } catch { } } The first time this is run, great I have three users in the table. If I remove the second one and run this code again, nothing is inserted. I expected the first insert to fail with the exception, the second to succeed (as I just removed that item from the DB) and the third to then fail. What seems to be happening is that once the SqlException is thrown (even though the loop continues to iterate) all of the next inserts fail - even when there isn't a row in the table that would cause a unique violation. Can anyone explain this? P.S. The only workaround I could find was to instantiate the repo each time before the insert, then it worked exactly as excepted - indicating that it's something to do with the LINQ To SQL DataContext. Thanks.

  • Handling async ASMX web service exceptions

    - by Andy
    Hi, I've developed silverlight client with makes async web services calls to a asmx web service. The problem is, I want to handle exceptions, so far as to be able to tell in the client application whether there was an exception in the webservice (and therefore will be logged local to the webservice) or whether there was a communication problem (i.e. the endpoint for the webservice was wrong). In testing both types of exceptions in my project I get the same generic exception: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The remote server returned an error: NotFound. This exception is amazingly useless when an exception occured in the webservice as it clearly has been found. Is the presence of this generic error to do with security (not being allowed to see true errors)? It can't be the fact that I don't have debug strings as I'm running on a dev PC. Either way, my question is, what's the best way to handle async errors in a commercial silverlight application? Any links or ideas are most welcome! :) Thanks a lot! Andy.

  • Dynamically specify and change a Silverlight DataGrid's columns during runtime (MVVM)

    - by Biggert
    What's the best method of dynamically specifying DataGrid columns in the Silverlight DataGrid control at runtime following the MVVM pattern? What I'd like to do would be bind the "DataGrid.Columns" property to a property in my ViewModel so that, if the user adds/removes columns, I simply update the ViewModel property and the DataGrid would change. Problem is, the "DataGrid.Columns" property can't be bound to (I don't think). Because this property isn't available nor is the DataGrid control itself available at the ViewModel level, my current approach is to step outside of the MVVM pattern for this particular implementation and capture certain events in View's code-behind using MVVM Light's Messenger class and then talk directly with the DataGrid control to achieve this capability. I know this is a general statement to this approach without details but is there an easier way... or maybe not so much easier, but a better way that adheres to the MVVM pattern a little better? It's driving me crazy that the DataGrid control's Columns property can't be bound... seems like such a simple thing. FYI - Before it's suggested to use AutoGenerateColumns = True, the class being bound for each item in the collection that's bound to DataGrid.ItemsSource does not have individual properties to identify what is bound to the columns... it's a collection property that contains the columns in order to keep them completely dynamic so that particular path is out. Also, handling the AutoGeneratingColumns and using e.Cancel to show/hide columns is also iffy for this same reason (I think).

  • Websphere 7 simple realm (like tomcat-users.xml)

    - by Heavy Bytes
    I am trying to port a J2EE app from Tomcat to Websphere and I'm not too familiar with Websphere. The only problem I am having is authorization (I use basic-authentication in my web.xml). In Tomcat I use the tomcat-users.xml file to define my users/passwords and to what roles they belong. How do I do this "simply" in Websphere? When deploying the EAR to Websphere it also asks me to map my role from web.xml to a user or group. Do I have to set up some sort of realm? Custom user registry? Thanks. UPDATE: I configured a Standalone custom registry, however I can't get a log-in prompt for username/password. It works just fine in Tomcat, and it doesn't in Websphere. Code from web.xml <security-constraint> <web-resource-collection> <web-resource-name>basic-auth security</web-resource-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </web-resource-collection> <auth-constraint> <role-name>HELLO_USER</role-name> </auth-constraint> <user-data-constraint>NONE</user-data-constraint> </security-constraint> <login-config> <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method> </login-config> <security-role> <role-name>HELLO_USER</role-name> </security-role>

  • OCR: How to improve accuracy - existing libraries for removing non-text 'furniture', shapes, etc to

    - by Rob
    I want to remove rectangles etc that enclose text in a screenshot image, so that I can perform optical character recognition to get accurate text from the screenshot. Background: I doing this to extract data from a legacy application for use with other applications. This is the only way to get at this data as associated files are in a closed, proprietary, binary format. I will be using AutoItScript to drive the application to show data in its UI, then I will screenshot this and feed this to tesseract. I've already had some success in automating the UI, and have been able to use tesseract to get plain ascii text out of the bitmap. There are several AutoItScripr forum articles discussing its use with tesseract/OCR but not specifically for my question. http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.php?s=6c32c3ece12756e635a619cdf175eff9&showforum=2 What I need to do There are thin, 1-pixel wide rectangles that closely enclose some text, when fed to tesseract, it sees them as I for example for a verticle line of the rectangle. Any thoughts on how to remove the rectangles, or best practices? I'm asking if there is a generic command line based toolset to overwrite rectangles, for example, in .png files. I could then pass the .png through this, then pass it to tesseract. Details on the tesseract release/setup I've used are as follows: Go here: http://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/downloads/list - For the basic english generic character set to get Tesseract up and running and recognising your bitmapped text into ascii text, use tesseract-2.00.eng.tar.gz (current version at time of writing is: "English language data for Tesseract (2.00 and up) Jul 2007 989 KB 84845") Related questions I have already looked at on Stack Overflow http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1335581/how-to-give-best-chance-of-success-to-an-ocr-software http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2296568/analysis-and-transformation-of-the-image-on-the-basis-of-this-analysis-for-better http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2268028/reading-characters-off-of-the-screen In these, my question is not completely answered or a commercial solution is being sold. I do not want to consider a commercial solution at this stage.

  • How to handle ViewModel and Database in C#/WPF/MVVM App

    - by Mike B
    I have a task management program with a "Urgency" field. Valid values are Int16 currently mapped to 1 (High), 2 (Medium), 3 (Low), 4 (None) and 99 (Closed). The urgency field is used to rank tasks as well as alter the look of the items in the list and detail view. When a user is editing or adding a new task they select or view the urgency in a ComboBox. A Converter passes Strings to replace the Ints. The urgency collection is so simple I did not make it a table in the database, instead it is a, ObservableCollection(Int16) that is populated by a method. Since the same screen may be used to view a closed task the "Closed" urgency must be in the ItemsSource but I do not want the user to be able to select it. In order to prevent the user from being able to select that item in the ComboBox but still be able to see it if the item in the database has that value should I... Manually disable the item in the ComboBox in code or Xaml (I doubt it) Change the Urgency collection from an Int16 to an Object with a Selectable Property that the isEnabled property of the ComboBoxItem Binds to. Do as in 2 but also separate the urgency information into its own table in the database with a foreign key in the Tasks table None of the above (I suspect this is the correct answer) I ask this because this is a learning project (My first real WPF and first ever MVVM project). I know there is rarely one Right way to do something but I want to make sure I am learning in a reasonable manner since it if far harder to Unlearn bad habits Thanks Mike

  • .NET converting simple arrays to List Generics

    - by Manish Sinha
    This question might seem trivial and also stupid at the first glance, but it is much more than this. I have an array of any type T (T[]) and I want to convert it into a List generic (List<T>). Is there any other way apart from creating a Generic list, traversing the whole array and adding the element in the List? Present Situation: string[] strList = {'foo','bar','meh'}; List<string> listOfStr = new List<string>(); foreach(string s in strList) { listOfStr.Add(s); } My ideal situation: string[] strList = {'foo','bar','meh'}; List<string> listOfStr = strList.ToList<string>(); Or: string[] strList = {'foo','bar','meh'}; List<string> listOfStr = new List<string>(strList); I am suggesting the last 2 method names as I think compiler or CLR can perform some optimizations on the whole operations if It want inbuilt. P.S.: I am not talking about the Array or ArrayList Type

  • How can I create a generaic ValidationAttribute in C#?

    - by sabbour
    I'm trying to create a UniqueAttribute using the System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations.ValidationAttribute I want this to be generic as in I could pass the Linq DataContext, the table name, the field and validate if the incoming value is unique or not. Here is a non-compilable code fragment that I'm stuck at right now: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; using System.Data.Linq; using System.ComponentModel; namespace LinkDev.Innovation.Miscellaneous.Validation.Attributes { public class UniqueAttribute : ValidationAttribute { public string Field { get; set; } public override bool IsValid(object value) { string str = (string)value; if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(str)) return true; // this is where I'm stuck return (!Table.Where(entity => entity.Field.Equals(str)).Any()); } } } I should be using this in my model as follows: [Required] [StringLength(10)] [Unique(new DataContext(),"Groups","name")] public string name { get; set; }

  • VB6 ImageList Frm Code Generation

    - by DAC
    Note: This is probably a shot in the dark, and its purely out of curiosity that I'm asking. When using the ImageList control from the Microsoft Common Control lib (mscomctl.ocx) I have found that VB6 generates FRM code that doesn't resolve to real property/method names and I am curious as to how the resolution is made. An example of the generated FRM code is given below with an ImageList containing 3 images: Begin MSComctlLib.ImageList ImageList1 BackColor = -2147483643 ImageWidth = 100 ImageHeight = 45 MaskColor = 12632256 BeginProperty Images {2C247F25-8591-11D1-B16A-00C0F0283628} NumListImages = 3 BeginProperty ListImage1 {2C247F27-8591-11D1-B16A-00C0F0283628} Picture = "Form1.frx":0054 Key = "" EndProperty BeginProperty ListImage2 {2C247F27-8591-11D1-B16A-00C0F0283628} Picture = "Form1.frx":3562 Key = "" EndProperty BeginProperty ListImage3 {2C247F27-8591-11D1-B16A-00C0F0283628} Picture = "Form1.frx":6A70 Key = "" EndProperty EndProperty End From my experience, a BeginProperty tag typically means a compound property (an object) is being assigned to, such as the Font object of most controls, for example: Begin VB.Form Form1 Caption = "Form1" ClientHeight = 10950 ClientLeft = 60 ClientTop = 450 ClientWidth = 7215 BeginProperty Font Name = "MS Serif" Size = 8.25 Charset = 0 Weight = 400 Underline = 0 'False Italic = -1 'True Strikethrough = 0 'False EndProperty End Which can be easily seen to resolve to VB.Form.Font.<Property Name>. With ImageList, there is no property called Images. The GUID associated with property Images indicates type ListImages which implements interface IImages. This type makes sense, as the ImageList control has a property called ListImages which is of type IImages. Secondly, properties ListImage1, ListImage2 and ListImage3 don't exist on type IImages, but the GUID associated with these properties indicates type ListImage which implements interface IImage. This type also makes sense, as IImages is in fact a collection of IImage. What doesn't make sense to me is how VB6 makes these associations. How does VB6 know to make the association between the name Images - ListImages purely because of an associated type (provided by the GUID) - perhaps because it's the only property of that type? Secondly, how does it resolve ListImage1, ListImage2 and ListImage3 into additions to the collection IImages, and does it use the Add method? Or perhaps the ControlDefault property? Perhaps VB6 has specific knowledge of this control and no logical resolution exists?

  • Cannot add Authorization field to HttpsUrlConnection in order to complete Basic authentication

    - by ES
    Hi, I'm using the Sun API HttpsURLConnection class, and have been trying for a day now to get it to send a simple request: URL url = new URL("https://thirdpartyserver.com/somelocation"); connection = (HttpsURLConnection)url.openConnection(); connection.setDoOutput(true); connection.setRequestMethod("POST"); if (doAuthorization) { Base64Converter converter = new Base64Converter(); connection.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + converter.encode("username:password")); } OutputStreamWriter writer = new OutputStreamWriter(connection.getOutputStream()); writer.write("param1=100&param2=hello"); writer.flush(); writer.close(); I keep getting 401 from the third part server. When I look at the connection through the debugger, the method shows up as GET even though I set it to POST; the collection of request properties shows up as null. If I print the values out, the method shows up as POST, but the request parameters collection is still empty. I would love to be able to print the request and understand what's going on, but I could not figure out how to print the content of an output buffer. Any ideas? Thanks! ES

  • Swig typecast to derived class?

    - by Zack
    I notice that Swig provides a whole host of functions to allow for typecasting objects to their parent classes. However, in C++ one can produce a function like the following: A * getAnObject() { if(someBoolean) return (A *) new B; else return (A *) new C; } Where "A" is the parent of classes "B" and "C". One can then typecast the pointer returned into being a "B" type or "C" type at one's convenience like: B * some_var = (B *) getAnObject(); Is there some way I can typecast an object I've received from a generic-pointer-producing function at run-time in the scripting language using the wrappers? (In my case, Lua?) I have a function that could produce one of about a hundred possible classes, and I'd like to avoid writing an enormous switch structure that I'd have to maintain in C++. At the point where I receive the generic pointer, I also have a string representation of the data type I'd like to cast it to. Any thoughts? Thanks! -- EDIT -- I notice that SWIG offers to generate copy constructors for all of my classes. If I had it generate those, could I do something like the following?: var = myModule.getAnObject(); -- Function that returns an object type-cast down to a pointer of the parent class, as in the function getAnObject() above. var = myModule.ClassThatExtendsBaseClass(var); -- A copy constructor that SWIG theoretically creates for me and have var then be an instance of the inheriting class that knows it's an instance of the inheriting class?

  • Using named_scopes on the join model of a has_many :through

    - by uberllama
    Hi folks. I've been beating my head against the wall on something that on the surface should be very simple. Lets say I have the following simplified models: user.rb has_many :memberships has_many :groups, :through => :memberships membership.rb belongs_to :group belongs_to :user STATUS_CODES = {:admin => 1, :member => 2, :invited => 3} named_scope :active, :conditions => {:status => [[STATUS_CODES[:admin], STATUS_CODES[:member]]} group.rb has_many :memberships has_many :users, :through => :memberships Simple, right? So what I want to do is get a collection of all the groups a user is active in, using the existing named scope on the join model. Something along the lines of User.find(1).groups.active. Obviously this doesn't work. But as it stands, I need to do something like User.find(1).membrships.active.all(:include => :group) which returns a collection of memberships plus groups. I don't want that. I know I can add another has_many on the User model with conditions that duplicate the :active named_scope on the Membership model, but that's gross. has_many :active_groups, :through => :memberships, :source => :group, :conditions => ... So my question: is there a way of using intermediary named scopes when traversing directly between models? Many thanks.

  • MVVM Binding in Silverlight3 ItemsControl to get the parent controls DataContext

    - by BigTundra
    I have the following ItemsControl in Silverlight 3. <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding ValueCollectionList}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button x:Name="MyBtn" Height="40" Content="{Binding Name}" Tag="{Binding Value}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.Command="{Binding ElementName=LayoutRoot, Path=ButtonCommand}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.CommandParameter="{Binding ElementName=MyBtn, Path=Tag}"/> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> The Problem is that I have the ItemsControl bound to the Collection in my ViewModel, but I need the button to trigger a command on the ViewModel which is of course not Available in the DataContext of the button since it only contains the collection. I can make the command fire by setting my ViewModel as a Resource and then binding to it as a StaticResource, but I want to know why the element to element binding won't work in this scenario. I would prefer not to use the StaticResource binding because that requires the default constructor on the ViewModel and so I can't inject my data easily.

  • Send Data Using the WebRequest Class to DotNetOpenAuth website

    - by Denis
    I am trying to send data to DotNetOpenAuth website as described here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/debx8sh9.aspx Sender receive (500) Internal Server Error. The same code for blank website without DotNetOpenAuth works fine. Should I tweak something? • Asp.Net MVC 2 - Iterate Through Form Values In Model Binder

    - by Noob
    I have a list of items in my form which are named like this... <input type="text" id="ListItem1"> <input type="text" id="ListItem2"> <input type="text" id="ListItem3"> I want to create a custom model binder which converts these in to model with this structure... public class MyModel { public IEnumerable<MyModelItem> Items {get; set;} } public class MyModelItem { public int Id { get; set; } public string Value { get; set; } } So each ListItem should be converted to a MyModelItem with id equal to the number at the end of the input id and value set to the value on the input field. In ASP.Net MVC 1.0 I could iterate over the bindingContext.ValueProvider.Keys collection and check for key.StartsWith("ListItem") to find all input items in this format. The new IValueProvider interface in ASP.Net MVC 2 does not have a keys collection and I cannot iterate over that interface. How can I access these values which I only know the prefix for at design time in ASP.Net MVC 2?

  • NHibernate. Distinct parent child fetching

    - by Andrew Kalashnikov
    Hello. I've got common NH mapping; <class name="Order, SummaryOrder.Core" table='order'> <id name="Id" unsaved-value="0" type="int"> <column name="id" not-null="true"/> <generator class="native"/> </id> <many-to-one name="Client" class="SummaryOrderClient, SummaryOrder.Core" column="summary_order_client_id" cascade="none"/> <many-to-one name="Provider" class="SummaryOrderClient, SummaryOrder.Core" column="summary_order_provider_id" cascade="none"/> <set name="Items" cascade="all"> <key column="order_id"/> <one-to-many class="OrderItem, Clients.Core" /> </set> </class> Want get list by this criteria ICriteria criteria = NHibernateStateLessSession.CreateCriteria(typeof(SummaryOrder.Core.Domains.Order)); ; criteria.Add(Restrictions.Or (Restrictions.Eq(String.Format("{0}.Id", SummaryOrder.Core.Domains.Order.Properties.Client), idClient), Restrictions.Eq(String.Format("{0}.Id", SummaryOrder.Core.Domains.Order.Properties.Provider), idClient))). SetResultTransformer(new DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer()). SetFetchMode(SummaryOrder.Core.Domains.Order.Properties.Items, FetchMode.Join); return criteria.List<SummaryOrder.Core.Domains.Order>() as List<SummaryOrder.Core.Domains.Order> But I've got duplicates.. When I execute One restriction (without OR) I got distinct collection of orders, but Restriction OR brakes my query. I wanna get distinct(at client yet) collection of orders. What's wrong. Please HELP!

  • How do I store more information in a marker?

    - by Sebastian
    Hello, I'm using Google Maps v3 and I build in the server side a json collection of location data. So when I receive that, I iterate through that collection and create a marker object for each and every one of them. For each of these markers, I bind them with the click event, so when the user clicks on a marker in the map, it displays an infoWindow with data related to the associated location. I have an array to store all the location got from the server that holds the retrieved json objects and their corresponding marker. The problem is that, even when I have an array that I can reference or iterate through, I need to not only get the marker object when the user clicks on them, but also the location object, that stores more information. I tried to mantain this array of objects and reference it from the calling object without success, because the function is called by the marker and not the location object. So I thought if it's possible to store more information in the google maps marker object like using a general purpose field. Please let me know if more information is needed. Thanks!

  • Powershell: Select-Object with additional calculated difference value

    - by David.Chu.ca
    Let me explain my question. I have a daily report about one PC's free space as in text file (sp.txt) like: DateTime FreeSpace(MB) ----- ------------- 03/01/2010 100.43 DateTime FreeSpace(MB) ----- ------------- 03/02/2010 98.31 .... Then I need to use this file as input to generate a report with difference of free space between dates: DateTime FreeSpace(MB) Change ----- ------------- ------ 03/01/2010 100.43 03/02/2010 98.31 2.12 .... Here are some codes I have to get above result without the additional "Change" calculation: Get-Content "C:\report\sp.txt" ` | where {$_.trim().length -gt 0 -and -not ($_ -like "Date*") -and -not ($_ -like "---*")} ` | Select-Object @{Name='DateTime'; expression={[DateTime]::Parse($_.SubString(0, 10).Trim())}}, ` @{Name='FreeSpace(MB)'; expression={$_.SubString(12, 12).Trim()}}, ` | Sort-Object DateTime ` | Select-Object DateTime, 'FreeSpace(MB)' |ft -AutoSize # how to add additional column Change to this Select-Object? My understanding is that Select-Object will return a collection of objects. Here I create this collection from an input text file(parse each line into parts: datetime and freespace(MB)). In order to calculate the difference between dates, I guess that I need to add additional calculated value to the result of the last Select-Object, or pipe the result to another Select-Object with the calculation as additional property or column. In order to do it, I need to get the previous row's FreeSpace value. Not sure if it is possible and how?

  • Storing a digital signature for bookings on a web based system

    - by Duncan
    I have a web based bookings system built for a UK higher education client to allow students to sign out equipment (laptops, camera's etc). It's been in use successfully for a couple of years, in the current workflow equipment is collected and the booking is printed, signed by the student and kept until the equipment is returned. They are emailed a pdf copy of the booking and reminders if equipment is outstanding. Students can login and prebook equipment using their university LDAP credentials, the booking is then authorised by staff for later collection, but can also walk in and have equipment booked out by staff. They would like to remove the signed paper part of the process and replace this with some sort of digital signature. The suggestion was a graphics tablet but with a web based system this would require a local software package and in my view be impractical. My thought is that students would enter their LDAP username and password upon collection of the equipment, verifying their identity and effectively digitally signing the booking. My question is what would be best to store as a signature or whether to simply authenticate the user and use a boolean flag to indicate that this has been done could be deemed sufficient?

  • Deleting JPA entity containing @CollectionOfElements throws ConstraintViolationException

    - by Lyle
    I'm trying to delete entities which contain lists of Integer, and I'm getting ConstraintViolationExceptions because of the foreign key on the table generated to hold the integers. It appears that the delete isn't cascading to the mapped collection. I've done quite a bit of searching, but all of the examples I've seen on how to accomplish this are in reference to a mapped collection of other entities which can be annotated; here I'm just storing a list of Integer. Here is the relevant excerpt from the class I'm storing: @Entity @Table(name="CHANGE_IDS") @GenericGenerator( name = "CHANGE_ID_GEN", strategy = "org.hibernate.id.enhanced.SequenceStyleGenerator", parameters = { @Parameter(name="sequence_name", value="course_changes_seq"), @Parameter(name="increment_size", value="5000"), @Parameter(name=" optimizer", value="pooled") } ) @NamedQueries ({ @NamedQuery( name="Changes.getByStatus", query= "SELECT c " + "FROM DChanges c " + "WHERE c.status = :status "), @NamedQuery( name="Changes.deleteByStatus", query= "DELETE " + "FROM Changes c " + "WHERE c.status = :status ") }) public class Changes { @Id @GeneratedValue(generator="CHANGE_ID_GEN") @Column(name = "ID") private final long id; @Enumerated(EnumType.STRING) @Column(name = "STATUS", length = 20, nullable = false) private final Status status; @Column(name="DOC_ID") @org.hibernate.annotations.CollectionOfElements @org.hibernate.annotations.IndexColumn(name="DOC_ID_ORDER") private List<Integer> docIds; } I'm deleting the Changes objects using a @NamedQuery: final Query deleteQuery = this.entityManager.createNamedQuery("Changes.deleteByStatus"); deleteQuery.setParameter("status", Status.POST_FLIP); final int deleted = deleteQuery.executeUpdate(); this.logger.info("Deleted " + deleted + " POST_FLIP Changes");
