• help in the Donalds B. Johnson's algorithm, i cannot understand the pseudo code

  Hi , does anyone know the Donald B. Johnson's algorithm which enumarates all the elementary circuits (cycles) in a Directed graph? link text I have the paper he had published in 1975 but I cannot understand the pseudo-code. My goal is to implement this algorithm in java. Some questions i have is for example what is the matrix Ak it refers to. In the pseudo code mentions that Ak:=adjacency structure of strong component K with least vertex in subgraph of G induced by {s,s+1,....n}; Does that mean i have to implement another algorithm that finds the Ak matrix? Another question is what the following means? begin logical f; Does also the line "logical procedure CIRCUIT (integer value v);" means that the circuit procedure returns a logical variable. In the pseudo code also has the line "CIRCUIT := f;" . Does this mean? It would be great if someone could translate this 1970's pseudocode to a more modern type of pseudo code so i can understand it in case you are interested to help but you cannot find the paper please email me at [email protected] and i will send you the paper. • How do I use a .NET class in VBA? Syntax help!

  ok I have couple of .NET classes that I want to use in VBA. So I must register them through COM and all that. I think I have the COM registration figured out (finally) but now I need help with the syntax of how to create the objects. Here is some pseudo code showing what I am trying to do. I wanted to subset a data.frame by vectors gathered in list object. Since this is a part of code from a function that accompanies data manipulation in psychological research, you can consider m as a results from personality questionnaire (10 subjects, 20 vars). Vectors in list hold column indexes that define questionnaire subscales (e.g. personality traits). Each subscale is defined by several items (columns in data.frame).   I'm in the process of writing a C# wrapper for Dallmeier Common API light (Camera & Surviellance systems) and I've never written a wrapper before, but I have used the Canon EDSDK C# wrapper. So I'm using the Canon wrapper as a guide to writing the Dallmeier wrapper. I'm currently having issues with wrapping a callback. • C# Wholesale Order form - textboxes in Gridviews in Repeater

  I'm building a wholesale order form on a website. The current plan is to... -get an ArrayList of DepartmentUnits -a DepartmentUnit has various attributes like "deptId", "description" and its own ArrayList of StoreItems -The StoreItems have attached ArrayList of various SizeOptions -The SizeOptions have an inventory count integer along with their description -Planning on putting an asp:Repeater on the page that has an asp:GridView in it -Each DepartmentUnit will have its own GridView -EachStore item will have a row in the GridView -Each SizeOption will have a TextBox in the row (approximately 10 options) -Each inventory count will be watermarked over the size option textbox The question becomes how will I then collect all this information correctly once the form has been filled out? I don't like the idea of putting all this information in an update panel and then posting back each time a GridView row or worse one of the row's textboxes changes. Any advice on putting a single save button on the page and looping through each Repeater item - and each GridViewRow - and each textbox - to get all the values entered? Better to try collecting all the items added in a single table at the bottom of the page and updating the string with jquery each time a text box is modified? Then just looping through the new table when saved? Not sure I know how to loop through that table though - updating if quantity is changed might be a bear too. If it considerably simplifies the process I could just remove the Repeater aspect and put separate GridViews on separate pages. Thanks!

  The problem I am having is that when say for instance the user enters 7, then the display shows: 0 11 2 3 5 8 13 21 child ends. I cannot seem to figure out how to fix the 11 and why is it displaying that many numbers in the sequence! Can anyone help? The number of the sequence will be provided in the command line. For example, if 5 is provided, the first five numbers in the Fibonacci sequence will be output by the child process. Because the parent and child processes have their own copies of the data, it will be necessary for the child to output the sequence. Have the parent invoke the wait() call to wait for the child process to complete before exiting the program.   I am creating a form designer. It will generate PHP code which will produce an HTML form. Users will fill in fields and the PHP will store user input in a MySql database (and, of course, they can use the designer to generate forms which query the database). I am using Borland C++ Builder (very similar to Delphi & and you can get the same idea from VB, MSVC, Qt ... any IDE with a RAD GUI designer). Looking at the W3C page http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_forms.asp it seems that the components I can use for my form and retrieve data from are - edit box / TEdit / <input type="text" - memo / TMemo / <input type="textarea" - check box / TCheckBox / <input type="CheckBox" - Combo box / TComboBox / <select ... <option... - Radio group / TRadioGroup / <input type="radio" - Group box / TGroupBox / <fieldset ... <legend ... - Panel / TPanel / <fieldset ... I am unsure whether to allow button / TButton/ input type="button" - other than a single submit button which my form designer program automatically adds to the end of the generated form. But my real question is - did I miss any? It might be nice to have masked edit which only accepts numbers, or maybe some form of "spin control" (TUpDown, or slider + linked read only TEdit), so that the user can click & hold to increment/decrement an integer value. And a calendar component would be nice. Very important: I want to implement it all server-side in PHP, so no client-side JS or Ajax or the likes. If there anything else that I can add to make my generated forms look more impressive in the browser?

  I'm trying to solve a simple problem with MPI, my implementation is MPICH2 and my code is in fortran. I have used the blocking send and receive, the idea is so simple but when I run it it crashes!!!   I'm new to MongoDB and I've used RDBMS for years. Anyway, let's say I have the following collections: Realtors many :bookmarks key :name Houses key :address, String key :bathrooms, Integer Properties key :address, String key :landtype, String Bookmark key :notes I want a Realtor to be able to bookmark a House and/or a Property. Notice that Houses and Properties are stand-alone and have no idea about Realtors or Bookmarks. I want the Bookmark to be sort of like a "join table" in MySQL. The Houses/Properties come from a different source so they can't be modified. I would like to be able to do this in Rails: r = Realtor.first r.bookmarks would give me: House1 House2 PropertyABC PropertyOO1 etc... There will be thousands of Houses and Properties. I realize that this is what RDBMS were made for. But there are several reasons why I am using MongoDB so I would like to make this work. Any suggestions on how to do something like this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Most people have done this already, but some haven't, which isn't entirely fair. The board is supplied to your function as the parameter. The result should be returned by the function. The function can have a name of your choosing.

  Please advise how I can achieve this. I am working in a dll in delphi 2010. This dll has a exported procedure that receives an array of variants. I want to be able to take one of these variants, and convert it into a string, but i keep getting ????? I cannot change the input variable - it HAS to be an array of variants. The host app that calls the dll cannot be changed. It is written in Delphi2006. sample dll's code is: Procedure TestArr(ArrUID : array of variant);stdcall; var i : integer; s:string; begin s:= string(String(Arruid[0])); showmessage(s); end; obviously in D2006 my dll works fine. • Static Data Structures on Embedded Devices (Android in particular)

  I've started working on some Android applications and have a question regarding how people normally deal with situations where you have a static data set and have an application where that data is needed in memory as one of the standard java collections or as an array. In my current specific issue i have a spreadsheet with some pre-calculated data. It consists of ~100 rows and 3 columns. 1 Column is a string, 1 column is a float, 1 column is an integer. I need access to this data as an array in java. It seems like i could: 1) Encode in XML - This would be cpu intensive to decode in my experience. 2) build into SQLite database - seems like a lot of overhead for static access to data i only need array style access to in ram. 3) Build into binary blob and read in. (never done this in java, i miss void *) 4) Build a python script to take the CSV version of my data and spit out a java function that adds the values to my desired structure with hard coded values. 5) Store a string array via androids resource mechanism and compute the other 2 columns on application load. In my case the computation would require a lot of calls to Math.log, Math.pow and Math.floor which i'd rather not have to do for load time and battery usage reasons. I mostly work in low power embedded applications in C and as such #4 is what i'm used to doing in these situations. It just seems like it should be far easier to gain access to static data structures in java/android. Perhaps I'm just being too battery usage conscious and in my single case i imagine the answer is that it doesn't matter much, but if every application took that stance it could begin to matter. What approaches do people usually take in this situation? Anything I missed?

[My solution] Define an integer table with 256 elements, which is used to record the occurring times for each kind of character in the current sub-string. Scan the whole string, statistic the total kinds of character in the given string by using the above table. Use two pointers, start, end, which are initially pointing to the start and (start + 1) of the given string. The current kinds of character is 1. Expand sub-string[start, end) at the end until it contains all kinds of character. Update the shortest digest if possible. Contract sub-string[start, end] at the start by one character each time, try to restore its digest property if necessary by step 4. The time cost is O(n), and the extra space cost is constant. Any better solution without extra space?

  I am trying to update RichEdit so that it detects URL and enables clicking on it to open in the browser. I see in the Netbeans project the service and the stub . When I try to call my web service method , say Data GetData() ; Then I have a problem with parsing the returned data from the web service and the client data object . Some cursory research states that "bitwise operators in JavaScript are inherently slow," because internally it appears that JavaScript will cast all of its double values into signed 32-bit integers to do the bitwise operations (see https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Core_JavaScript_1.5_Reference/Operators/Bitwise_Operators for more on this.) Because of this, I can't do a direct port of the Java random number generator, and I need to get the same numeric results as Java.util.Random(). Writing something like this.next = function(bits) { if (!bits) { bits = 48; } this.seed = (this.seed * 25214903917 + 11) & ((1 << 48) - 1); return this.seed >>> (48 - bits); }; (which is an almost-direct port of the Java.util.Random()) code won't work properly, since Javascript can't do bitwise operations on an integer that size.) I've figured out that I can just make a seedable random number generator in 32-bit space using the Lehmer algorithm, but the trick is that I need to get the same values as I would with Java.util.Random(). What should I do to make a faster, functional port?

  Hi, I have small web app that generate PDF files as a report. I'm trying to delete those generated PDF files after 10 sec that they are generated. What I want to do is to read a folder with PDF files every 10 sec, and delete all the PDF files inside that folder. I read this post of Easy Background Tasks in ASP.NET. The following code is the VB version. • Iteration speed of int vs long

  I have the following two programs: long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (int i = 0; i < N; i++); long endTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); System.out.println("Elapsed time: " + (endTime - startTime) + " msecs"); and long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (long i = 0; i < N; i++); long endTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); System.out.println("Elapsed time: " + (endTime - startTime) + " msecs"); Note: the only difference is the type of the loop variable (int and long). When I run this, the first program consistently prints between 0 and 16 msecs, regardless of the value of N. The second takes a lot longer. For N == Integer.MAX_VALUE, it runs in about 1800 msecs on my machine. The run time appears to be more or less linear in N. So why is this? I suppose the JIT-compiler optimizes the int loop to death. And for good reason, because obviously it doesn't do anything. But why doesn't it do so for the long loop as well? A colleague thought we might be measuring the JIT compiler doing its work in the long loop, but since the run time seems to be linear in N, this probably isn't the case.

• Alternatives to decompiling MS Access MDE files

  I've been tasked with finding a suitable tool to decompile MDE files. The MDEs were created by staff who have since left (familar story eh?) and we do not have access to the originally MDB files. The reason we need access to the original code is that the data source is changing (the backend as well as some of the table and queries) and we need a way to update queries. An example of a change, in a SELECT statement where is the WHERE clause looks for zero as a string ("0") rather than an integer. I'm aware that unless you use the services of people like EverythingAccess.com its unlikely you will ever get the source code back. My main query is to ask for alternative methods to decompiling code. An example of the kinds of methods I'm thinking about is to spy on the traffic between the app the the ODBC DSN using tcpdump. I might then be able to write code to translate the data source queries between the old and new systems. Ideally I'd prefer a solution that is application centric rather than one that analyses all network traffic. I should add one caveat, no doubt most of you are thinking the best solution is to rewrite the code, based on its perceived functionality. This is the option we're not considering (at the moment).

• Get id when inserting new row using TableAdapter.Update on a file based database

  I have a database table with one field, called ID, being an auto increment integer. Using a TableAdapter I can read and modify existing rows as well as create new ones. However if I try to modify a newly inserted row I get an DBConcurrencyException: OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection(@"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=Shift.mdb;Persist Security Info=True"); ShiftDataSetTableAdapters.ShiftTableAdapter shiftTA = new ShiftDataSetTableAdapters.ShiftTableAdapter(); shiftTA.Connection = conn; ShiftDataSet.ShiftDataTable table = new ShiftDataSet.ShiftDataTable(); ShiftDataSet.ShiftRow row = table.NewShiftRow(); row.Name = "life"; table.Rows.Add(row); shiftTA.Update(row); // row.ID == -1 row.Name = "answer"; // <-- all fine up to here shiftTA.Update(row); // DBConcurrencyException: 0 rows affected Separate question, is there any static type of the NewShiftRow() method I can use so that I don't have to create table everytime I want to insert a new row. I guess the problem in the code comes from row.ID that is still -1 after the first Update() call. The Insert is successful and in the database the row has a valid value of ID. How can I get that ID so that I can continue with the second Update call? Update: IT looks like this could have been done automatically using this setting. However according to the answer on msdn social, OLEDB drivers do not support this feature. Not sure where to go from here, use something else than oledb? Update: Tried SQLCompact but discovered that it had the same limitation, it does not support multiple statements. Final question: is there any simple(single file based) database that would allow you to get the values of a inserted row.

• Date since 1600 to NSDate?

  I have a date that's stored as a number of days since January 1, 1600 that I need to deal with. This is a legacy date format that I need to read many, many times in my application. Previously, I'd been creating a calendar, empty date components and root date like this: self.gregorian = [[[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier: NSGregorianCalendar ] autorelease]; id rootComponents = [[[NSDateComponents alloc] init] autorelease]; [rootComponents setYear: 1600]; [rootComponents setMonth: 1]; [rootComponents setDay: 1]; self.rootDate = [gregorian dateFromComponents: rootComponents]; self.offset = [[[NSDateComponents alloc] init] autorelease]; Then, to convert the integer later to a date, I use this: [offset setDay: theLegacyDate]; id eventDate = [gregorian dateByAddingComponents: offset toDate: rootDate options: 0]; (I never change any values in offset anywhere else.) The problem is I'm getting a different time for rootDate on iOS vs. Mac OS X. On Mac OS X, I'm getting midnight. On iOS, I'm getting 8:12:28. (So far, it seems to be consistent about this.) When I add my number of days later, the weird time stays. Why the weird time on iOS, and what should I do about it? (I'm assuming the hour difference is DST.) I've tried setting the hour, minute and second of rootComponents to 0. This has no impact. If I set them to something other than 0, it adds them to 8:12:28. I've been wondering if this has something to do with leap seconds or other cumulative clock changes. Or is this entirely the wrong approach to use on iOS?
