  When OpenOffice opens a file in read-only mode, it does not show a cursor, and the arrow keys (up and down) will move the page instead of the cursor. (By "cursor", I mean the blinking thing also called "caret" and not the mouse cursor.) Is there any way to turn off the cursor when the document is not read-only?

• How can I open Outlook Calendar to a 2-3 week view by default?

  I use Outlook 2007, and I like to view my calendar 2 (or sometimes 3) weeks at a time. Its relatively easy to do, by dragging my mouse across several weeks in the mini calendar. BUT... it never stays that way. As soon as I change to Contacts and back to Calendar, the view resets to showing a whole month. Any ideas about how to change to default view?

  I pressed Ctrl + Alt + t while having Chrome open to open a terminal in my Chromebook. How do I paste content into this terminal copied from another tab in Chrome? I have tried Ctrl + v to no avail. I have also tried highlighting text and pasting it via the middle button on my mouse, which failed too.   Hi all, My touchpad on my laptop appears to be no longer functioning. I typically use an external keyboard and mouse so I didn't notice the problem until I tried to use the touchpad. Even after toggling the on/off switch several times, the touchpad still doesn't work. In the logs, I see something about cannot read byte from synaptics device.   Using Ubuntu's USB Startup Disk Creator (usb-creator-gtk), I created a LiveUSB from the Xubuntu 9.10 LiveCD. When booting, it stalls up with the Xubuntu mouse splash screen displayed. In attempting to troubleshoot, I used Ctrl-Alt-F1 to check out the first virtual terminal. On that screen, I see over and over again the lines: stdin: I/O error stdin: error 0 /init: line 1: can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found

  I am no longer using the trackpad on my macbook and using a separate wired apple keyboard instead. I miss the scrolling functionality on my trackpad, I'm having to make do with the keyboard (the mouse is too far away for efficient scrolling). Is there a way to map a key combination (such as cmd+pagedown) such that I scroll up/down half a page instead of a full page?   I want to rearrange rows with the mouse in Calc. In Excel, I select the whole row, then drag and drop it while holding Shift. This causes the drag and drop cursor to turn into a bar rather than cells, and the cells are inserted at the bar's position. Is there a way to accomplish the same sort of thing in Calc without going around the houses inserting columns before the drag operation?

  Using Synergy-plus-1.3.4 on Gentoo Linux kernel 2.6.36-tuxonice-r3. Using SHIFT+CAPS to change keyboard layout on BOTH server and client boxes. Works perfectly if change layout using attached keyboard. But when using synergy keyboard (moved mouse from server screen to client and changing with SHIFT+CAPS) it has no effect. Synergy is just amazing thing exception this small issue which I'm assured is solvable. Please, gimme some hint.

The panel is horizontal, is it possible to setup a vertical view? • why can't i boot from cd rom?
