  • How can I make my tableview enter editing mode?

    Hi, for some reason I can't get my tableview to enter editing mode. It's a little harder than it might seem because I'm using some open source code to make a calendar (iCal esque) with a tableview under it, and it's not quite as straightforward as just using a regular tableview. Basically, I have two classes. One (let's say Class A) is a UIViewController and the other (Class B) is that viewController's datasource and tableview delegate. In Class B, I've implemented -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; which works fine, but if I put an edit nav bar item in Class A (the view controller), nothing happens. Am I forgetting certain protocols, or certain special methods that I need to write? Thanks for any help, and apologies if I'm missing something, I'm just learning to work with other people's code.

  • NSSegmentedControl -selectedSegment always returns 0

    I have an NSSegmentedControl with two segments set to "Select None" mode in Interface Builder. No matter what I try, I can't get -selectedSegment to return anything but 0, even though segment 0 is even disabled by default and can't possibly be selected.   • Exclude some parameters with POST request on RestKit

    I've just integrated RestKit with a Mac application for communicating with a web service. After much confusion, I have successfully got requests and responses working using it. The problem I am now finding is that when I want to make a POST request. I have created a RKRequestDescriptor with a mapping for a whole number of properties and all of the properties are being sent as parameters for the query. I want a way of dynamically changing the parameters that are sent, for example not sending some parameters where the property is nil. Is this possible as part of the built-in functionality of RestKit? And if so, how?

    Hello, I've created a UIButton on a view and on action of the UIButton[UIButton* button1_obj] one more button[UIButton* button2_obj] is created on same view. i'm facing these 2 issues...please guide me how to proceed. button1_obj is appearing when i run my project, but its not being clicked or highlighted, nor any exception is thrown. On action of button1_obj , button2-obj has to appear on the same view, how to clear the view before placing button2_obj on it.

    I'm not getting the -(void)keyDown callback on my inherited NSOpenGLView (note that mouseMoved does not work either though I do setAcceptsMouseMovedEvents:YES, but that is not an issue yet). It implements - (BOOL)acceptsFirstResponder { return YES; } but still no luck. My knowledgeable friend implied that it might have something to do with that the application is still a console application and not a bundled .app (I'm currently porting it). If so: is there some way to circumvent? Could the cause be something else? When I terminate my console application, I frequently see all my keypresses go to stdout so it does seem reasonable...

  • xcode project-/target-settings-syntax for linker flag force_load on iPhone

    Hi all. I am confronted with the double bind, that on the one hand for one of the 3rd party static libraries, my iPhone application uses, the linker flag -all_load has to be set in the application project- or target settings, otherwise the app crashes at runtime not finding some symbols, called internally from the lib, on the other hand for another 3rd party static lib -all_load must not be set on application level, or the app won't build thanks to a "duplicate symbols"-linker error. To solve this issue I now want to use force_load instant of load_all, as it due to documentation it does the same like all_load, but only for the passed path or lib-file, instead of all libs. The problem with force_load is, I do not have a clue, how to pass a path or file as parameter with it, when passing it via xcode project- or target-settings. All syntax-possibilities coming to my mind either lead into xcode thinking its another linker flag instead of a parameter to the previous one, or the linker is throwing syntax related errors or the flag simply does nothing at all in comparison to not being set. I also opened the .pbxproj-file in a text-editor to edit it to the correct command line syntax manually, but when reloading the project with xcode, it auto changes the syntax into interpreting the parameter to force_load as a separate flag.     I'm trying to create an vocabulary study application using Obj-C and the Cocoa frameworks. I have about two week's experience in both areas and have reached an edge of my current knowledge. Here's where I'm stuck. When I press a checkbox, a corresponding plist is loaded into memory as an NSDictionary. I want to generate a "Label: Textfield" pair for each key:value pair, where the Label is the key. When the text typed into the Textfield matches the key's value, I want the Label's text to turn green. So how would I generate this grid, and once generated, how would I make the text green upon correct input? Thanks!

    I am using coredata framework. In my NSManagedObjectModel i am using three entities that are Class, Student and Score where class and student have one-to-many & inverse relationship and Student and Score have also inverse but one-one relationship. Score entity has all optional attributes and having default '0' decimalVaue, which is not assigned at the time new Student is added. But later i want to assign them score individually and also to particular attribute not all of score attributes in a go. I am able to create and add Students to particular Class but dont have any idea how to call particular student and assign them score. For example I want to assign Score'attribute "dribbling" [there are many attributes like "tackling"] a decimal value to Student "David" of Class "Soccer" ,how i can do that?     Does anyone know if there is an open source project for an UIView element that acts in a similar way to the lock screen for the iPhone. I am working on an app that has some sensitive data, and I want to add another layer of comfort for users, to be able to setup a 4 digit pin number on the app. I've seen apps like LoseIt and Weightbot that have similar functionality. Rather than dealing with semiphores, locking, etc., I'd like to use the 'One Object, One Thread' method of safely writing this concurrent operation. I'm not sure what is the correct way to copy my object into a new thread so that the object is not accessed in the main thread. Do I use the 'copy' method?   • NSString stringWithContentsOfFile failing with what seems to be the wrong error code

    Hello. I'm trying to load a file into a string. Here is the code I'm using: NSError *error = nil; NSString *fullPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:filename ofType:@"html"]; NSString *text = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:fullPath encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; When passed in @"about" as the filename, it works absolutely fine, showing the code works. When passed in @"eula" as the filename, it fails with 'Cocoa error 258', which translates to NSFileReadInvalidFileNameError. However, if I swap the contents of the files over but keep the names the same, the other file fails proving there is nothing wrong with the filename, it's something to do with the content. The about file is fairly simple HTML but the eula file is a massive mess exported from Word by the legal department. Does anyone know of anything inside a HTML file that could cause this error to be raised? Much thanks, Sam
