  • emacs/Python: running python-shell in line buffered vs. block buffered mode

    Hi all - In a related question and answer here, someone hypothesized that python-shell within emacs(23.2) was block-buffered instead of line-buffered. The recommended fix was to add sys.stdout.flush() to the spot in my script where I want stdio to flush its contents to the python-shell. Is there someway to trick python-shell (running in emacs 23.2 on Windows, not Linux) into either a) thinking it's attached to a TTY or b) using line-buffered instead of block-buffered mode? I don't see why I'd be able to do this in IDLE but not emacs. I'd rather customize emacs than add sys.stdout.flush() throughout my scripts. Call me lazy :-). Thanks, Mike

    My app (a flight tracker) needs to draw a line between two points (cities say) on a sphere (earth) along the surface (i.e. the great circle route) using Three.js. I can think of 2 ways - (a) creating Three.js 'Line' with a set of (enough) points that I calculate manually and (b) writing the lines into the texture I use for the sphere after it's loaded but before I apply it as a texture. I can see problems with both (not even sure if (b) is possible in Three.js yet) - anyone think of a better way or have an opinion? Thanks in advance.

    I'm drawing a big scheme that consist of a lot of lines. I do it in the drawRect: method of UIView. The scheme is larger than the layer of view and I check each line and draw it only if it intersects the visible rect. But at one moment I thought, should I do this? Maybe Quartz is already doing this test? So the question is: When I use function CGContextAddLineToPoint() does the Core Graphics tests this line for intersection with layer rect or it just draw it anyway?

    I have a txt file on the server which contains 10 lines of text. The text file is rewritten sometimes, and I get new lines using "\r\n". My problem shows when I want to load the lines in javascript variables. I do it like this, but this work only for numbers or for the last line of the file, because its not using the breakline tag: var x = '<?php echo $file[0]; ?>'; Ive tried to alert(x) but it`s not working.... (working only if I read the last line) Any idead ?

  • How to get the line number an xml element is on via the Java w3c dom api

    Is there a way to lookup the line number that a given element is at in an xml file via the w3c dom api? My use case for this is that we have 30,000+ maps in kml/xml format. I wrote a unit test that iterates over each file found on the hard drive (about 17GB worth) and tests that it is parseable by our application. When it fails I throw an exception that contains the element instance that was considered "invalid". In order for our mapping department (nobody here knows how to program) to easily track down the typo we would like to log the line number of the element that caused the exception. Can anybody suggest a way to do this? Please note we are using the W3C dom api included in the Android 1.6 SDK.

    I just started learning some ruby, and I want to do something like this: print "Insert two numbers: " a, b = gets.split(" ") but I want to make a and b to be integers at the same time (in the same line).. If I add .to_i to the second line (before or after split(" ")), it doesn't work... so, how should I approach this? mapping, splitting, slicing? ok, I know I could use scanf, but other than scanf, how would I do this? sorry for such a noobish question, but I just couldn't find a good enough answer only googling...

They use company called pavlov for the internet http://pavlovmedia.net/ wireless seems to be working fine but wired connection is at least %30 faster. Ethernet, cat5 outlet is built in the wall, and there is only 1 outlet in each room. I would like to take this 1 outlet coming out the wall and multiply it into 4 wires, for desktop, playstation, tv and laptop without loosing any internet bandwidth. i have absolutely no idea weather this line is coming from a switch or a router but i have been researching Ethernet splitter, routers, switches, hubs and haven't found a solid answer. what is the best solution for me? thank you once again!   • How can I use git to stage only one line in a file for commit, all from a script?

    I'm writing a simple pre-commit git hook that updates the year in copyright headers for files that are staged for commit. After modifying the line with the copyright, I would like the hook to stage that line so that it is part of the commit. It can't just git add the whole file, because there may be other pre-existing changes in there that shouldn't be staged. I don't see any options in the git add manual the let you stage specific lines. I figure I could git stash save --keep-index, apply my change, git add the file, and then git stash pop, but that seems rather crude. Any better approaches?

I know how to do this with Swing: component.setToolTipText("<html>Line 1<br>Line2</html>"); But this doesn't work with AWT. Also serarating lines by \n doesn't work.   • What's the difference between starting a process from the dock vs. the command line on OS X

    I'm debugging an issue on OS X that only occurs when the application is started from the dock. It does not happen when the app is started from the command line. What is the difference between the two scenarios? The code I'm working with is a c++ based bundled plug-in being loaded in a third party app. I've attached to the process with GDB in both scenarios and the only difference I can see is that a couple of extra dylibs are loaded in the process when running from the command line and that the base address of my library is slightly different in the two scenarios. I've tried changing my linkage to i-prebind and/or -bind_at_load to no avail.

  • How to find the real problem line in my code with Application Verifier ?

    I am now trying to use this Application Verifier debugging tool, but i am stuck, first of all: it breaks the program at a line that is simple variable set line (s = 1; for example) Secondly, now when i run this program under debugger, my program seems to have changed its behaviour: i am drawing image, and now one of the colors has changed o_O, all those parts of the image that i dont draw on, has changed the color to #CDCDCD when it should be #000000, and i already set the default color to zero, still it becomes to #CDCDCD. How do i make any sense to this? Here is the output AV gave me: VERIFIER STOP 00000002: pid 0x8C0: Access violation exception. 14873000 : Invalid address causing the exception 004E422C : Code address executing the invalid access 0012EB08 : Exception record 0012EB24 : Context record AVRF: Noncontinuable verifier stop 00000002 encountered.   • What is the compatible JQuery line of code for IE7 and IE8?

    This line of code is working fine for Firefox $("#<%=txt1.ClientID%>").text() but not for IE8 and IE7. See the scenario below in order to understand what I really mean:- Scenario:- Loading .aspx page. populating text box with some data from database. Now user changes data in same text-box at client-side (means page not yet submitted) So here in firefox, the above line of javascript is showing me the actual data came from database, but IE7&8 showing me the changed data. But I want actual data. So i need some compatible code for IE7 & IE8 I hope i explained it well what i need. Thanks in advance
