• Scheduling Automatic Backups for Virtual Private Web Server running CENTOS 6.3 and WHM

  I'm pretty new to administering my own VPS - but thus far am finding it quite a compelling experience. There's something quite refreshing about having complete control over everything it does. One thing that I would like to look at is a suitable backup solution (a few times a day). My current setup is as follows: I'm running a CENTOS 6.3 VPS with a single 25GB hard drive solely for the purpose of hosting websites. I'm using WHM & cPanel for administering them. I now plan on adding an additional hard disk and hooking it up to my VPS. What I'm not sure about is how I get the two disks talking and get the backup process going. I'm not a seasons SSH-er so don't really know where to start. I'm hosting with Serverlove (one of the best hosting providers I've used) and am provided with a number of unique identifiers for each hard disk so I imagine these may play a part in linking them together. I appreciate that this is a little vague (I'm clutching at straws) but any assistance is very much appreciated.

On the first PC we add new modem device, set up gprs connection on this port in "Network connections" folder. How avoid clicking the same procedure on second computer? Detailed questions: Where are the entries from "Network connections" stored? File, registry? Is there a possibility to clone such entry between PCs? Question as above but regarding modem entry in device manager - can it be exported from one pc and imported on second?

  I want to create an account that will perform the following: Join computers to a domain (not restricted to 10, like a normal user) Check for computer accounts in AD Delete computers from AD Move computers between OUs I don't want to allow it to do anything else, so don't want a domain admin account. • Partition table correpted in windows 7 machine as simple dynamic partition

  I have Windows 7 installed in my system. When I originally partitioned it I made 3 partitions and 16 gb space as unallocated. Later I tried to create a partition using this free space using diskmanagement tool. It shows free space as unusabe space and the only one option available is to make it as a simple partition. Unfortunately I made it as simple partition and all my partitions converted to simple dynamic partition. Now after reboot the OS is not loading. I tried to reinstall the OS by formatting the C drive, but it doesn't work. Now I can't load the OS properly. How can I install Windows 7 on my system without losing my data on the other two drives?

  I have two Windows Server 2003 machines sitting in a network. Server B has port 25 open and can relay emails to the local network's smtp server. Server A does not have port 25 open. How can I set it up to send emails through another port to the SMTP server? I am thinking if I can setup a local SMTP communication between my servers on a different port and let Server B send Server A's emails. Is that possible?

• How to access remote network resource from local machine

  I just configured VPN access successfully so that I now can connect to my workstation at work from my personal Linux box at home. The problem is that all of my dev files for a server I'm locally running are on my personal box and cannot be transfered to my workstation (at least not in any timely manner over this connection given the amount of data, in addition to the many reconfigurations which would be required for the server to run even if I could somehow get the files across). So essentially, I am able to run my server locally on my personal computer, however, the data-sources required for the back-end are accessible only from within the office's network. But is there some way for me to somehow either access the data-sources directly through a VPN connection or even if I need to be a bit more convoluted by connecting via VPN to my workstation and then somehow connecting to the data-sources through my workstation to my personal computer? And here I could really care less about the speed of the connection from my server to the data-sources since they will probably only be fetched a few times every hour or so. Thanks! Sorry if this a stupid question and/or doesn't make any sense! (And sorry for anyone who read this at stackoverflow, I posted it in the wrong area.)

  I have the standalone Hyper-V Server 2012 running and I'm trying to create the first VM on it but I'm getting the following error: From my research, this error comes up with something related to the Intel IPMI driver but I have an Asus motherboard so I didn't think it was the problem. However, I ran the ResetAccess.exe fix anyways and to no surprise it said something like "This version of Windows does not require this fix". Thank you

• Blue Screen at booting Windows 2000 virtual

  well i hope this stackexchange site is the right for my issue. I've an Oracle VirtualBox running on some acer pc Settings for the Acer PC: Windows 7 SP1 64bit Intel G630 @ 2.7Ghz 2GB RAM i used a .vhd image which contains a windows 2000 system with some preconfigured stuff and software for a customer. At the Windows boot time immediately after the "Loading Windows 2000..." - Screen i get the following Error: Sorry for the German Text but it say's something like "Check the Size of your HDD. If the error contains a driver, deactivate it and try again. Or change the graficcard" The HDD Size shouldn't be a problem in my honest opinion. Can anyone give me an adivce what i can try to do? I just tested the same combination of the .vhd image and oracle virtualbox on another computer. Same issue. Greetings

  I have an external hard drive, and I wish to grant permissions on some files to users from 2 different computers without having to hook it up to the 2 different computers. I know the SID of the user on the other computer, I'd like to know if and how I can grant permissions to files using the SID. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bits, and "The Other" computer Win 7 Home Premium 64 bits, they are not in a domain, but separate computers on a home network (not even same homegroup). • SSH to an ubuntu machine using avahi

  I have an ubuntu box that I connect to using avahi. Connecting to that box works fine for all services (I regularly use AFP, SSH and SMB on it) but I've noticed that whenever I connect to it from a mac using SSH (and using the ".local" dns name provided by avahi - eg. "ssh .local") SSH tries to connect using ipv6, which for some reason times out (after two minutes) then it tries ipv4 which connects immediately. I'd like to avoid this timeout, as it's really annoying for me and other users - if SSH tried ipv4 first or if ssh over ipv6 worked then that would solve the problem. But so far I've been unable to get either to work (the best I've managed is to specify the "-4" option to SSH to stop it from trying ipv6 at all). I'm using Ubuntu 10.04. Any solution has to be on the server (not the client) as there are multiple clients connecting. A possible complication might be that my LAN is set up to allow link-local ipv6 addresses only, but I have other servers (using Mac OS) that I can SSH into using ipv6) I suspect that the problem could be solved by either preventing avahi from broadcasting the ipv6 address, or by enabling ssh over ipv6, but so far as I can tell avahi is already configured not to broadcast the ipv6 address and sshd is configured to allow ipv6 connections! • OS X multiple use of same machine via VNC

  I'm wondering if I can connect to my wife's mac via VNC while she is logged in herself. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't possible, although the machinery should be there with "fast-user-switching" support. So, if I create a profile for myself and I log in (and enable the VNC server/sharing for my profile), and then my wife switches to her own account which she uses on the physical console. Will I be able to use the mac ?

  I have a server JAR that is deployed once per customer, it is the API server for their software package. To that end, the port for each API instance must be the same, so that anything programmed against it can always find it. Each instance is deployed on a different domain name The problem I'm having is that, even when using a SelectChannelConnector and setting the host property, I can't get two instances to run simultaneously, I get a BindException with "Address already in use". I suppose my question is: can Jetty do this, or do I need to do some external re-writing, or is there a better way I can go about achieving the same ends? Thanks.

• Apache virtual server httpd-vhosts undocumented issue

  I have read the Apache documentation on the https-vhosts.conf file and after a couple of hours fighting this problem, figured it out on my own. Here's the situation: We have a domain that ends in a .ws Apparently you can't do this in the conf file. You MUST use the ? wildcard or it will not work. The * wildcard will not work either. Further, in the ServerAlias directive, anything past the first entry will not work if the first entry in the ServerAlias directive is not correct. Here is an example of an entry that does NOT work.   I hav a gigbyte GA-Z77m-D3h mobo and installed Windows 8 Pro and Windows 7 Ultimate on two SSDs (in that order) in EFI mode. Now when I start my computer, I get the windows boot menu (text mode) with the two OSses to choose, but I have to manually press RETURN to have the computer boot into the Win OS. Even if I wait an hour, no default action takes place. Using bcdedit (from either of the OSses) I can successfully change the time out value, and it shows up in the bcdedit (no params) output. But it doesn't fire ... It says that it is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7 but only the 32-bit version of 7. I need to know if it's possible for me to download something to make the application compatible with my computer. I've run troubleshooters and ran it as windows compatible XP service pack 2 and tried again with service pack 3.

  I am having issues with the SSL document root of my vhosts configuration. Http sees to work fine and navigates to the root directory and publishes the page fine - DocumentRoot /var/www/html/websites/ssl.domain.co.uk/ (as specified in my vhost config) However, https seems to be looking for files in the main apache document root found further up the httpd.conf file, and is not being overwritten by the vhost config. (I assume that vhost config does overwrite the default doc root?). DocumentRoot: The directory out of which you will serve your documents. By default, all requests are taken from this directory, but symbolic links and aliases may be used to point to other locations. • VMware ESXi 4.1 snapshot of server 2008R2 machine generates 2 indentical snapshots

  I have 2 VMs that are failing to get veeam backups, and it appears that the culprit is vmware snapshots. We are running Vsphere ESXi 4.1 build 320092, we have multiple server 2008R2 machines that take snapshots fine, but when with these two VMs when I take a snapshot I get 2 identical snapshots a few seconds apart. The snapshot manager only shows 1 snapshot, but there are 2 files 1 number off, that are identical sizes. There is only one disk on each VM, so that isn't the problem. Has anyone seen this behavior before and know how to fix it? • Virtual Machine Library not updating

  Hi, I have a problem with my library window. I use to have a XP VM, which I deleted and now have a Vista VM. Every time I start Fusion, the XP VM shortcut will still be in the library (File not found), and the Vista VM won't be. I have tried re-installing Fusion but the same XP shortcut keeps coming up. Fusion doesn't seem to be updating the list of VM I currently have for some reason. Any ideas? Lots of thanks Jeremy

• Failure to copy files with ownership/ACL information on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine

  I'm attempting to copy a directory tree, maintaining its ownership information using the command: XCOPY S:\ProjectsDefault\Tempalte\admin S:\Projects\00\111\admin /S /E /I /O the command gives an Access denied error message, and while it does create the directory tree, the ownership and ACL information is not copied. This is being done on a Windows 2008 R2 Server which has mounted a share from a Windows 2003 R2 domain controller. The user has been been granted full access to the share and is a member of the Domain Admins security group. Oddly enough, the command does work if performed on a different (Windows 2003 R2 Server). (It also works if done using the Domain Administrator account on the 2008 server.)
