  • HP F2180 driver installation fails on 64-bit Windows 7

    Hello; I am trying to install the HP Deskjet AIO (non-network) driver on my machine, which is running the 64-bit version of Windows 7. Before installing it, Windows detected my printer just fine... But I wanted to use the HP scanning application, because tt allows me to scan several photos at once. I ran the DJ_AIO_NonNetwork_ENU_NB file I got from their site, and the installation went almost without a problem... However, at the part where it should have detected the printer, it didn't, so I skipped it - telling the installer I'll connect the printer later. After it was finished I was able to use it regularly, and also scan using the wanted HP application. However, the installer kept popping at random intervals, and giving me an error message. Yesterday I tried removing all the installed HP Applications, and installing from scratch. Running the same installer setup, it now insists that it does not support my operating system, and that 64-bit Vista is the highest it can go... I just don't understand why this is occuring all of the sudden. Has anybody here successfully installed the AIO driver on the 64-bit version of Windows 7? UPDATE: Been chatting with HP chat support over the weekend. Managed to really mess up my windows. At first, they told me to uninstall using an "unintall_l3" batch file inside their installer package, and then reinstall. Didn't work. Also the "l4" batch didn't make any difference. Afterwards I was told to install "Windows install clean up" and remove many hp entries (most of which were not listed on my computer), and I also removed many other hp entries I bumped upon. Then my office 2k7 started failing. I searched around the web, and ran Security Restore, so now my office works, but my windows explorer is all buggy - can't seem to open windows explorer - it hangs while trying to load my hard drives, or completely ignores them and just shows my libraries. Anyone here has any idea how I can restore my win7 to normal, with or without the annoying scanner? UPDATE 2: Ok - explorer back to normal. I guess I just had to wait until it finishes searching while opening the windows explorer for the first time after the Security Restore. Scanner still not working though.

    In my question Insert Update stored proc on SQL Server I explained an efficient way of doing an insert/update - perhaps THE most efficient. It's nothing amazing but it's a small algorithm that I came up with in a mini-Eureka moment. Although I had "invented" it by myself and secretly hoped that I was the first to do so I knew that it had probably been around for years but after posting on a couple of lists and not getting confirmation I had never found anything definitive written up about it. So my questions: What software algorithm did you come up with that you thought that you'd invented? Or better yet, did you invent one?

  • CSS: Chrome and Safari seem to 'add' border to width, while IE, Firefox & Opera don't

    Hey guys, I'm trying to achieve cross-browser consistency for my website, but I have been trying all day now and its driving me nuts (0.38 am here in Europe now..). It's about this page: http://www[insert-dot-here]geld[insert-dash-here]surfen[insert-dot-here]nl/uitbetalingen.html (please note that I prefer this URL not to be made crawlable for seo-bots) If you view this page in IE, Firefox or Opera, everything is fine, but in Chrome and Safari the tables are a little out of line (as you'll probably clearly notice). What seems to be the problem?; it appears to me that in Chrome and Safari the left and right border (2px) in total are added to the set table width, while in the other browsers the border is considered part of the width. The (most) relevant CSS-lines are the following ones (from the tabel.css-file, also available through the page's source file): table.uitbetaling { margin: 11px 18px 10px 19px; border: 1px solid #8ccaee; width: 498px; padding: 0; } table.uitbetaling img, table.uitbetaling td { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; width: 496px; } table.uitbetaling tr { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0 1px 0 0; } So basically I have used a table-structure to organize images, like this; (the class of the table is 'uitbetaling') <table> <tr><td><img /></td></tr> <tr><td><img /></td></tr> ... <tr><td><img /></td></tr> </table> If, here, I set the width of 'table.uitbetaling' and 'table.uitbetaling img, table.uitbetaling td' to the same value (e.g. both 496 or 498), the 'problem' in Chrome and Safari is solved, however in Firefox the right side border is than blank. Because the right-side border can't 'fit' in anymore. 'img' and 'td' must be at least 2px more narrow than 'table.uitbetaling' for the right-border be visible in Firefox.     Hello, I'm trying to create a table with Listview and one of the fields I'm using is supposed to show a hyperlink to a more detailed view of the data shown, how I want to do that is by using FindControl on the ID of that item and then changing the value into a hyperlink of the detailed view page with a querystring attached, the problem is that I have no idea how to re-insert that data back into the listview field, which looks something like this: <ItemTemplate> <td> <asp:Label ID="ViewLinkLabel" runat="server" Text='[insert Link Here]' /> </td> </ItemTemplate> Please bear in mind that I'm still an amateur in ASP.net, and if any of this seems too convoluted when there's a much easier to do this that I don't know about.     If you have a long running SP, do you log somehow it's actions or just wait for this message? "Command(s) completed successfully." I assume, that there can be plenty solutions on this subject, but is there any best practice - a simple solution that is frequently used?     I have a table with four Columns. Col1, Col2, Col3, and Col4. Col1, Col2, Col3 is string and Col4 is a integer primary key with Auto Increment. Now my requirement is to have unique combination of Col2 and Col3. I mean to say like. Insert into table(Col1,Col2,Col3) Values('val1','val2','val3'); Insert into table(Col1,Col2,Col3) Values('val4','val2','val3'); the second statement has to throw error as the same combination of 'val2','val3' is present in the table. But i cant make it as a primary key as i need a auto increment column and for that matter the col4 has to be primary. Please let me know a approach by which i can have both in my table. (Normally I only use document.ready, but in this case I need to insert some Information into the DOM that then is present, when document.ready is called. This is some kind of "happens-before" relations ship I want to achieve so that I am shure when document.ready is called the inserted Form field is available in the document, as I depend on that information.     So I'm just struggling with a lot of little things in the web app so I'm checking up with all kinds of stuff to make sure i'm not breaking it cause of stupid problems. At some point in my web app (trying to keep it mostly Asynchronous) I have to update the list in my RadComboBox because something was added. Do I just need to call RadComboBox.DataBind() again? Since I don't explicitly use its datasource(I do it in the manual insert using a string fashion) object to insert my new record do I need to tell that to update? The list just doesn't seem to update when i just call databind so I feel like i need to have the datasource recheck for entries or SOMETHING Thanks

    I have tedious project coming up. I need to insert a usb flash drive into a computer, then copy over three files to that drive, and then unmount it and repeat 3000 times (literally). I was hoping to come up with some VB Script that can reduce my input to just 1.) insert the usb and 2.) double click on the .vbs file and remove the usb flash drive. I figure it isnt too difficult to come up with the copy and paste part of the code as long as I am inserting the usb into the same port every time. Is this assumption correct? However, the real problem is unmounting/ejecting the usb drive. Is there any simple VB Script code that can accomplish this? Thank you, -Corey

    Guys, I am using dynamic programming approach to solve a problem. Here is a brief overview of the approach Each value generated is identified using 25 unique keys. I use the boost::hash_combine to generate the seed for the hash table using these 25 keys. I store the values in a hash table declared as boost::unordered_map<Key_Object, Data_Object, HashFunction> hashState; I did a time profiling on my algorithm and found that nearly 95% of the run time is spent towards retrieving/inserting data into the hash table. These were the details of my hash table hashState.size() 1880 hashState.load_factor() 0.610588 hashState.bucket_count() 3079 hashState.max_size() 805306456 hashState.max_load_factor() 1 hashState.max_bucket_count() 805306457 I have the following two questions Is there anything which I can do to improve the performance of the Hash Table's insert/retrieve operations? C++ STL has hash_multimap which would also suit my requirement. How does boost libraries unordered_map compare with hash_multimap in terms of insert/retrieve performance.
