  • 2012 Exadata & Manageability Partner Communities EMEA Forum - Istanbul, Turkey

    On March 14-15th we have celebrated our 2012 Exadata & Manageability Partner Communities EMEA Forum, in Istanbul, Turkey. It has been an intense two days, packed with great content and a lot of networking. Organizing the Manageability and the Exadata Partner Forums jointly has allowed participants to benefit from the content of both topcis, which have strong connections as the journey to cloud architectures request that the cloud infrastructures are built on the best building blocks and are managed automatically and in a self-service way. During the sessions we have listened to two thought-leaders in our industry, Ron Tolido, from Capgemini, and Julian Dontcheff, from Accenture. We thank our Exadata partners -ISE (Germany), Inserve (Sweden), Fors (Russia), Linkplus (Turkey) and Sogeti, for sharing with the community their experiences in selling and implementing Exadata and Manageability projects.   • Oracle Exalogic X3-2 Installation and Maintenance Training (from OU)

    Many of the Exadata partners in our community are also architecting and servicing Exalogic-based solution. The following training is open to partners and will be of interest. This course introduces the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X3-2 including new functions and features. It discusses the architecture and components of the server and where they are located in the chassis. The students will learn how to install and configure the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud as well as upgrade its firmware. The course will cover maintaining and servicing field replaceable units (FRU) as well as performing hands-on hardware procedures.  This course is mandatory for all Oracle Partners that wish to become certified to perform Exalogic system installations.   • How do I access my remote Ubuntu server via X-windows from my Mac?

    I have an Ubuntu server (12.04 LTS) running remotely on a cloud hosting service. I have installed ubuntu-desktop via apt-get: $ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop It appears to have installed no problem. I have confirmed that /etc/ssh/ssh_config on the server contains the lines ForwardAgent yes ForwardX11 yes ForwardX11Trusted yes and that /etc/ssh/sshd_config on the server contains the line: X11Forwarding yes I then rebooted the server. It came back up no problem. Now, starting X11.app on my Mac I am presented with an Xterm. I connect to my server from this terminal using: $ ssh -X <myhost> and I connect to the server, no problem. At this point I don't know what to do. I have tried $ sudo startx but I get a "no screens found" error. I don't have screens because its a headless cloud server, but I just want to acces it from my Mac through X. What now?

    I have tried several different ways to achieve reading my amazon purchased e-books on ubuntu without success. Maybe i'm trying to do the impossible? Is there support for kindle-on-pc on ubuntu 12? If so please be so kind as to share with me how to. Please don't suggest kindle cloud, unless you know how to copy paste from kindle cloud... The books seemed to be encoded so that caliber cannot open them/convert them so unless i misunderstand thats out to. new install of ubuntu 12.04, i don't own a kindle so i just need a viewer

It's called What It Takes to Deploy and Manage a Private Cloud with Oracle VM. The paper is filled with useful information and it's written in a really entertaining style, tackling the IT challenges of a friendly systems administrator named Dave.     Here's an interesting article that came out during JavaOne which talks about the Oracle and Freescale partnership, where we are putting Java technology onto the Freescale i.MX6 based "one box" gateway. See: Oracle and Prosyst team up Here's a quote: When it comes to connected devices, there’s still plenty of debate over the right operating system, the correct protocols for sending data and even the basics of where processing will take place — on premise or in the cloud. This might seem esoteric, but if you’re waiting for your phone to unlock your front door, that round trip to the cloud or a fat OS isn’t going to win accolades if you’re waiting in the rain. With all of this in mind, Oracle and Freescale have teamed up to offer an appliance and a Java-based software stack for the internet of things.     I wanted to convert an array with some css, js and html files into a zip file and save them in ownCloud (it has it's own framework but it's knowledge is not required.) What I am saving is an infinite loop of zip files, as in, a zip inside a zip so I can't even check that the code is working correctly or not. Please help.   • MySQL Enterprise Monitor 3.0.11 has been released

    We are pleased to announce that MySQL Enterprise Monitor 3.0.11 is now available for download on the My Oracle Support (MOS) web site. It will also be available via the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud in about 1 week. This is a maintenance release that includes a few new features and fixes a number of bugs. You can find more information on the contents of this release in the change log. You will find binaries for the new release on My Oracle Support. Choose the "Patches & Updates" tab, and then choose the "Product or Family (Advanced Search)" side tab in the "Patch Search" portlet. You will also find the binaries on the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud in approximately 1 week. Choose "MySQL Database" as the Product Pack and you will find the Enterprise Monitor along with other MySQL products. Based on feedback from our customers, MySQL Enterprise Monitor (MEM) 3.0 offers many significant improvements over previous releases.
