  • Can default Symfony form-save actions be used to post data via AJAX?

    I was playing around with Symfony, jQuery, jqGrid & AJAX. For each new post submission, I am doing the foll: adding a routing entry in routing.yml defining a new action in the Actions file for the module. THis reads params, assigns values & saves the object As in the case of jqGrid, the 'Add Row' form is not a Symfony form. Is there a way to fool Symfony and post data to the executeCreate action to store a new entry. If not, does Symfony provide a way to quickly generate web services for AJAX requests for each of the modules? Is this a sensible feature? What I am going to have to do other-wise, is to create routing create a new Action get all parameters instantiate object assign values & save Any help in doing this faster will be appreciated.     Hi, I'm writing an application that lets the end use design a Form just the way Visual Studio lets you design a windows forms. I looked into visual studio forms designer articles in msdn and also studied open-source SharpDevelop editor. Both the examples host visual studio's windows forms designer to provide form-design service in their respective applications. My question is - Does it imply any licensing issue with Microsoft for directly hosting their Visual Studio Forms designer in my own application ? I don't want move ahead without proper and correct information. Can anybody here help me out if there's any licensing issues in case I want to host visual studio windows fomr designer in my own application. If there's any such licensing implication - then how does Sharp-Develop do this ?

  • Should I convert overlong UTF-8 strings to their shortest normal form?

    I've just been reworking my Encoding::FixLatin Perl module to handle overlong UTF-8 byte sequences and convert them to the shortest normal form. My question is quite simply "is this a bad idea"? A number of sources (including this RFC) suggest that any over-long UTF-8 should be treated as an error and rejected. They caution against "naive implementations" and leave me with the impression that these things are inherently unsafe. Since the whole purpose of my module is to clean up messy data files with mixed encodings and convert them to nice clean utf8, this seems like just one more thing I can clean up so the application layer doesn't have to deal with it. My code does not concern itself with any semantic meaning the resulting characters might have, it simply converts them into a normalised form. Am I missing something. Is there a hidden danger I haven't considered?

  • Alternatives to ASCX User Control without a server-side form?

    I've got an ASP.NET 3.5 Web Forms application in which a large chunk of code needs to be duplicated between a few different pages. Sounds like the ideal candidate for a user-control right? Problem is, this cannot be contained within a <form runat="server"> because it contains a client-side form of it's own. There are no runat=server controls or postbacks or anything that really need that webform - think of it just as a chunk of HTML with a few basic <% %> tags. I'd just want to set a property on the control when it's loaded, so that it knows what to output. This is purely an exercise to make the code easier to maintain. Before I resort to using an oldskool <!--#include-->, is there some better way of doing this?

  • Can you change/redirect a django form's function by passing in your own function?

    I'm dealing with django-paypal and want to change the button src images. So I went the the conf.py file in the source and edited the src destination. However, I really want to leave the source alone, and I noticed that the class PayPalPaymentsForm(forms.Form): has def get_image(self): return { (True, self.SUBSCRIBE): SUBSCRIPTION_SANDBOX_IMAGE, (True, self.BUY): SANDBOX_IMAGE, (True, self.DONATE): DONATION_SANDBOX_IMAGE, (False, self.SUBSCRIBE): SUBSCRIPTION_IMAGE, (False, self.BUY): IMAGE, (False, self.DONATE): DONATION_IMAGE, }[TEST, self.button_type] which handles all the image src destinations. Since changing this def in the source is worse than changing conf, I was wondering if there was a way to pass in customized defs you make like passing in initial arguments in forms? This way no source code is changed, and I can customize the get_image def as much as I need. passing in def something like this? def get_image(self): .... .... paypal = { 'amount': 10, 'item_name': 'test1', 'item_number': 'test1_slug', # PayPal wants a unique invoice ID 'invoice': str(uuid.uuid4()), } form = PayPalPaymentsForm(initial=paypal, get_image) Thanks!

  • Codeigniter not returning me to upload form after image upload.

    I'm still very new to codeigniter. The issue i'm having is that the file uploads fine and it writes to the database without issue but it just doesn't return me to the upload form. Instead it stays in the do_upload and doesn't display anything. Even more bizarrely there is some source code behind the scenes. Can someone tell my what it is i'm doing wrong because I want to be returning to my upload form after submission. Thanks in advance.     I am developing a web application that collects data over multiple steps through a wizard. Steps are generally not interdependent, in that data input at each step has little or no effect on the consequent steps. However each step may have a set of validations which determine whether the user can progress to the next step by clicking 'continue' What should be the behavior when the user clicks previous? a Quickly move to the previous page, thus losing all the unsaved data in the form. Prompting the user with a warning is an option, but it can become irritating quite soon. b Move to the previous page saving all the data in the current step - without triggering validations, so that when the user comes back she sees the form in the same state that she left it in. c any other behaviour All opinions are welcome :)

  • How can I use different metadata for a Dynamic Data form view and the list view?

    We often need a summarised list view with more detailed form view. So far, the only two way I can think of doing this are using a 'custom' list or form view than uses a sumplimentary 'remove' or 'add' list of fields anb generalise this over all entity sets, or create a custom metadata provider that infers somehow which columns to supply. Are there any other ways of distinguishing these two views? PS, I wrote a fun little general details page, that handles insert, edit, and view, all on one page template. Maybe I could somehow use that? It's here.

    On php page in a form, One combo box has list of my Customer from mysql table customer. Another combo box has invoiceno stored in invoice table which has respective customer records. I want to select customer from first combo box and filter invoiceno from the second one according to the customer. Any one help me for php or java or Jquery or both codeings? Means if I select customer1 then in the second combo box should show all invoiceno respective to the custermer1. No Refresh or ReLoad or Post form Pl.   • How to get a component's parent form in Borland VCL?

    Hi, I'd like to determine which form a given component belongs to in my application. Neither the Parent nor the Owner property can be assumed to be the form itself, so I can't simply use this. I guess I could just go through the Parent property recursively until I arrive at something derived from TForm, but is there a better way to do this? I used the search function, but couldn't find anything specific to my problem. I'm using Borland C++ Builder, by the way (tagged Delphi because a majority of VCL users seem to write in Delphi, and I read Delphi code just fine). Thanks in advance!

    I have a large form with multiple tabs and would like to be able to split it into multiple modules and include each as a partial. Something like: main.html.erb: <%= form_for (@myobject) do |f| %> <%= render "module1" %> .... module1.html.erb: <%= f.text_field :field1 %> ... Needless to say, when I do it like this I get an error from module1 that "f" is undefined. Is there a way to split form fields into multiple modules?

The following is the textarea of the web form I created to allow me to update twitter. <textarea name="updatestatus" cols="50" rows="4" id="updatestatus"> </textarea> Do I change this line in my confirm.php script from $status = 'Testing API'; To this $status=$_POST["updatestatus"]; I am wanting to know if I at least got that right so I can look at other possible problems with this form not being able to update twitter. As it stands now I am manually editing the status each time and it works that way perfectly but have not yet figured out how to get a webform to do this.

    New to Android need help with one solid build that I can refer to and study for future projects. The first activity is a background image with a button,when clicked the it takes you to the second activity which is a form with 5 data fields and 2 buttons. One button calls an intent to take a picture within the app and one button that submits the data from the form along with the picture to URL. lastly a third activity that says complete thank you. I can make some of this but don't know how to link button or open and merge camera with the app to be sent as a package of data. I suppose I could also hook into GPS acquire location as well as the camera call?

    I have a model form that I use to update a model. class Turtle(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50, blank=False) description = models.TextField(blank=True) class TurtleForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Turtle Sometimes I don't need to update the entire model, but only want to update one of the fields. So when I POST the form only has information for the description. When I do that the model never saves because it thinks that the name is being blanked out while my intent is that the name not change and just be used from the model. turtle_form = TurtleForm(request.POST, instance=object) if turtle_form.is_valid(): turtle_form.save() Is there any way to make this happen?     I'm running Sinatra 1.0 with HAML, my form has a number of checkboxes, for example books I like, and you would select all the books you want. The checkbox name is "books". In sinatra params['books'] there should be an array of all the books that were checked, but it only has the last item that was checked, not an array. How can I get all the checked items?   • Best way to set a default button (or trigger its event in javascript) for an input field, not part of a form

    I've got a stand-alone input field, not part of any form. I also got a button, that has some onclick event. When I type something in the input field, and press the Enter key, I want it do effectively press the button, or trigger its onclick event. So that the button is "the input field's default button" so to speak. <input id='myText' type='text' /> <button id='myButton' onclick='DoSomething()'>Do it!</button> I guess I can mess around with the input field's onkeypress or onkeydown events and check for the Enter key, etc. But is there a more 'clean' way, I mean something that associated the button with that input field, so that the button is the 'default action' or something for that field? Note that I'm not inside a form, I am not sending, posting, or submitting something. The DoSomething() function just changes some of the HTML content locally, depending on the text input.
