    Hi I'm trying to get a PHP array to use in some jquery script using the qTip plugin. This is my array: $descqtip[ ] = array('name' => ''.$name.'', 'description' => ''.$description.''); Here is my jquery code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var description = <?php echo json_encode($descqtip)?>; $('#homepage_catgames h2').each(function(i){ $(this).qtip({ content: description }) }); }); </script> I know the above doesn't work, but i'm stuck on trying to get the description variable in each part of the array to their own individual tooltip.     At the beginning PHP was a scripting language. But after the introduction and improvement of OOP I see more and more objects added to the core. They started with SPL which grew a lot, now we have DOMDocument family, DateTime family which should be part of PECL, Pear or Zend Framework or implemented by each one of us. Shouldn't be php only for build-in functions and all these objects passed to something else? Example. DateTime class is part of the core and I see it very similar with Zend_Date.

  • MySQL PHP incompatibility.

    Ok maybe I've overlooked something really simple here, but I can't seem to figure this out. I'm running WAMP locally, but connecting to a remote MySQL database. The local version of PHP is the latest 5.3.0. One of the remote databases, being version 5.0.45 works fine. However, the other remote database I'm trying to connect to, which is version 5.0.22 throws the following error before dying: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: OK packet 6 bytes shorter than expected. PID=5880 in ... Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: mysqlnd cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication in ... WTF? UPDATE: Reverting to PHP 5.2.* i.e. anything lower than 5.3.0 resolves the problem completely. As long as I am not running 5.3.0 I can connect to both databases. I'm not sure what the explanation is for this weirdness.

  • Problem passing variables in php form.

    I have the following php form. I am trying to make it so that when the form is loaded, the values will be assigned the appropriate check- variable. This variable will contain either "checked or "". If it contains checked, the way it is displayed with the html should cause the relevant checkbox to be checked. As it is, the variables do not seem to be being passed. When I echo out $deleted or $notice from within the submitinfo branch, they are blank. Furthermore, nothing is being inserted into the database, and I am not getting any database error.   • Obtaining photo 'stars' rating using PHP

    I am trying to extract the photo 'stars' rating from .jpg files using php code. My intent is to show the highest rated images as part of a slideshow. I found that using the PHP_JPEG_Metadata_Toolkit_1.11 I am able to get the rating of the file if the rating is set from within Vista (Right click - Properties - Details - Set rating by clicking on stars) by reading the array returned by the Metadata_Toolkit $exif = get_EXIF_JPEG( $photodir . "/" . $filename ); $rating = $exif[0][18246]['Data'][0]; However if I set the rating using Adobe Bridge, I can see the 'stars' in Vista, but the $exif[0][18246]['Data'][0] returns a null value. Is PHP code available to read the ratings applied by both Windows Vista AND Adobe Bridge?

    I'm having trouble when sending emails thorough the mail() function. I have a script that works perfectly fine for an email address like [email protected] but when the first part of the email is something with a dot like [email protected] it doesn't work and returns this error : Warning: mail() [function.mail ]: SMTP server response: 554 : Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied in confirmed.php on line 119 I am using real email address but have changed it in the above example. Any thoughts - I'm not a php master but surely there is an easy way to send emails to address with a 2 part first section?? Thanks in advance Ali

I've got it to create the database but now I need to load in several .sql files. I had planned to open the file and mysql_query it a line at a time - until I looked at the schema files and realised they aren't just one query per line. So, please.. how do I load an sql file from within PHP? (as phpMyAdmin does with it's import command).

  • PHP Doxygen Collaboration Diagrams

    I've started playing around with doxygen to generate documentation from my PHP code. I notice there are two diagrams in the generated output - inheritance and collaboration. I know about the inheritance one, but the collaboration one has piqued my interest since reading the manual: If the COLLABORATION_GRAPH and HAVE_DOT tags are set to YES then doxygen will generate a graph for each documented class showing the direct and indirect implementation dependencies (inheritance, containment, and class references variables) of the class with other documented classes. The impression I get from that description is that composition relationships should be represented by the collaboration diagram as well, but it always seems to just be identical to the inheritance one. Is there something I can do to hint to Doxygen the things I would like to appear in this diagram? Does it just not work with PHP?

This code should take every line and draw line with coordinate from line.   • php $_REQUEST data is only half-decoded

    I am retrieving a url via querystring. I need to pass it again to the next page. When I retrieve it the first time, using $_REQUEST['url'], only the slashes are decoded, e.g: http://example.com/search~S10?/Xllamas&searchscope=10&SORT=D/Xllamas&searchscope=10&SORT=D&SUBKEY=llamas/51%2C64%2C64%2CB/browse The php docs page for urldecode advises against decoding request data, and says that it will already be decoded. I need it either completely decoded, so I can encode it again without double-encoding some parts, or not decoded at all. I'm not sure why my experience of this data is incongruous with the php docs. Appreciate any help or pointers to same!!

  • PHP can't connect to localhost XMPP server on port 5222

    I've set up an ejabberd install locally on my Windows box, where I also have Apache, PHP and MySQL. I've also confirmed that it works great using Digsby, and have kicked the tires a bit by creating some users, sending some messages, etc. All good. However, PHP can't open a stream using stream_socket_client to port 5222. Even at its simplest level: stream_socket_client("tcp://localhost:5222", $errno, $errstr, 30, STREAM_CLIENT_CONNECT); Returns a timeout error. However, again, connecting with an IM client to localhost on port 5222 works fine. Any ideas? I'm stuck!

  • Combining 2 PHP frameworks that both implement __() internationalization function

    Never had a question I couldn't google until now, and it may be a doozy: I have a PHP site that combines Wordpress with Kohana - Wordpress for the blog, and Kohana for the custom functionality. This is done using a Wordpress plugin that stitches them together. This works great except they both define a __() internationalization function, with different arguments etc. so once wordpress has overridden kohana's __(), if kohana calls __() it explodes. I'm not that familiar with PHP so this might be naive, but shouldn't this stuff be namespaced? Is there anyway other than changing the source of one or the other framework to allow them to call their own respective __()?

    I'm using PHP Version 5.1.6 I have a string (session file) and need to extract a value from it, so i'm searching for a needle in the string but it returns false, I reduced the code to this: $string = ';SERVER_NAME|s:17:"stackoverflow.com";REMOTE_ADDR|s:13:"69.59.196.211";'; $start = strpos($string, ';SERVER_NAME|s:"'); echo $start; // prints nothing because $start = false $start = strpos($string, 'SERVER_NAME|s:'); echo $start; // prints 1; As you noticed if I have the character ';' or the character '"' in the needle, the search returns false, I tryed to use chr() for all characters in the needle but had the same result, If I remove the ';' and the '"' from the string if finds the needle in the string. How can I search special characters in a string using PHP ?

  • PHP to serial with weird baud rates

    I am trying to use PHP to send text to an LED sign so I can send support ticket numbers to it. The sign itself is a piece of work; it came from eBay and is poorly made with almost no documentation. After fiddling with it for a while, I was able to figure out the way it expected stuff to be sent to it and that the baud rate is 28800. I already know how to communicate with stuff like this using PHP, but I don't know how to change the baud rate to something nonstandard. I've tried other baud rates, and haven't been able to get it to work.
