  • Best way to make a script to SSH?

    My university has quite a lot files (like past papers etc) which I need to be on the uni network to access them. I ssh, using port forwarding, into the network and set my browser (Firefox) to go through that port. I know it would be quite easy to write something in most languages that would enter the command into a terminal, but which language/method could I use to make this happen? I expect some sort of scripting language could but I really know nothing about them, but I'd be willing to learn one just to have a little fun with this. I'm using a cygwin terminal on Windows 7, if that will make a difference. To neaten up my question: Which language would be best to acheive the above effect? Not necessarily the best, just possible and relatively simple to learn. I used the word best so I suppose I'll put a subjective tag.

This is a university program, everything is working fine except when I call my :forLoop method to iterate through 100 numbers (1,1,100) starting at 1 going by 1 til 100 and doing the iteration % 5 (i%%5). for some reason I cannot get this to work. appreciate any help or direction. When I echo %%A it is iterating through all the number perfect.   • How to use supervisord to run a PHP script as a daemon?

    I need to have 8 threads of the same PHP script running in the background on a server continuously (as a daemon), and each script need to be automatically restarted if it exits for any reason. I've been advised to use supervisord to do this, but I don't at all understand their documentation, which seems very complicated to me. I also want each of the 8 threads of the script to be initially started at 2 minute intervals (2 minutes in between each launch) but then after this all 8 threads of the same PHP script should continue running on the server forever (and restarting if any exit for any reason). Could someone please explain how to do this with supervisord, or any other easy way of doing it? I'm on CentOS 6. Thank you!

    I've got a simple script that lists a bunch of EC2 servers and automates me connecting to them. This script lives at ~/bin/ec2 My PATH looks something like: /Users/rob/bin:/Users/rob:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/opt/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin Whenever I call ec2 I get: -bash: /Users/rob/ec2: No such file or directory Unless I give it the full path, then it'll work. If I rename the script to just ec then I can run it from anywhere like expected. Have digits in script names always been a problem like this? I'm on Mac OSX.

  • Why did windows change the elevation requirements of my AutoHotKey script, and how can I prevent such in the future?

    I was working on an AutoHotKey (AHK) script to create prefab mouse movements for a very simple model viewer. I worked on it for a good hour. I zipped the script, posted it to a forum, and thought "oh hey, I should add bla bla bla to the script". When I returned to the program, the AHK script would not work. I could see the mouse movements working in other programs (notepad, chrome, etc), but not where I had been working the previous hour. After several hours of throwing darts at the troubleshooting wall, I discovered that the fix was to set the AHK.exe to Run as Administrator. The question here are multiple Why did Windows 7, in all it's wisdom, suddenly decide that elevation was necessary in the middle of usage? Can these permission requirements somehow be reverted by, say, removing a key from the registry or something? How can this kind of Windows behaviour be avoided in the future?

    I've created a bash script 'foo'. I've made that script executable with chmod+x and added it the the start-up by running sudo update-rc.d foo defaults 80 Despite that, it doesn't appear to be working at startup. Is there a way to have my script echo messages to a log? Or is there some log that would record events/errors for this? atm, I feel like I'm flying blind and don't really know how to troubleshoot this.

  • How do I run a beanshell script on my Mac?

    My Ubuntu-friend told me to testrun a Beanshell script by doing: bsh #filename# and when I told him that I don't know what bsh is nor have it he told me: sudo apt-get install bsh Being on a Mac I instead ran: sudo port install beanshell But still no bsh command available. A listing of the package content revealed a jar file named: /opt/local/share/java/bsh.jar but when I try to run that with my script file a complete Window manager written in Java starts up (and does not run the script file btw). Now, clearly I am doing something wrong, I am sure there must be a way of running beanshell scripts on a mac terminal although it does seem more natural for the linux users. What am I doing wrong and what should I do to run that script?

This is my first question, so any tips or thoughts are welcome, as well as an answer :p As explained in title, i want to create a script that launches, finds a file on android phone, copies it, and pastes it to a flash drive. As of right now, it's a mix of multiple tutorials, trial and error, and I'm at a point of giving up. As of right now, I have a flash drive, loaded with three scripts. Then run this scrip. Yes i'm trying to pull the database to copy all my email contacts. I use launch.bat, which then makes file.bat invisible due to the invisible.vbs script. What would i need to do now to have the file searched for and copied to the flashdrive? Thanks in advance, i'll be glad to answer any questions if theres any :p just remember that i'm not exactly a tech expert haha EDIT* Cleared junk of prior edits.
