  In an attempt to better fight spam, I've configured Postfix like this: smtpd_client_restrictions = check_client_access hash:/etc/postfix/client_whitelist reject_unknown_client smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination reject_non_fqdn_sender, reject_non_fqdn_recipient, reject_unknown_sender_domain, reject_unknown_recipient_domain, reject_unauth_destination, reject_unauth_pipelining, reject_invalid_hostname, reject_rbl_client zen.spamhaus.org, reject_rbl_client bl.spamcop.net, reject_rbl_client l2.apews.org, permit This config has reduced a lot of spam, and with the whitelist I was able to deal with some misconfigured but legitimate servers in order to accept them. However, I'm wondering if this particular whitelisting config will be able to do the job if some other legitimate servers found themselves blacklisted in one of these RBLs. Am I missing something?

That is, I'm after the equivalent of GNU readlink's -f option: kapow:~$ greadlink -f .bash_profile /Users/mjs/.config/home/.bash_profile OS X's readlink instead returns a relative link: kapow:~$ readlink .bash_profile .config/home/.bash_profile stat(1) does have an amazing number of options, but I couldn't figure out the right combination to do what I want.

• How to use Git over multiple similar systems

  I have a system I need to duplicate over several systems and make minor changes like change less/css variables and configuration files. Is there a best practice for these kind of problems? I currently do: git clone repo cp ../default/config.js config.js ... for several files or should I create different branches of the same repo or should I create an repo for the changes? It is currently doable but it will get annoying if I get more than 5 similar systems.

• DNS not being "replicating" everywhere

  We have a DNS server, and created a new CNAME: lets say login.server.domain now, if I do NSLOOkup from within our network I get back the config (this is a public address) but if I test from outside I get a not found error.. ** server can't find login.server.domain NXDOMAIN What could be happening? why is this only replicating within our network? FYI config has over 48 hours so not a time issue. thanks in advance

• Using the promote builds plugin to tag subversion repository in jenkins

  We have a task which builds based on data from 4 different SVN repositories. I want to allow QA promote a build, so that the revisions participating in the build are tagged with the build number and some optional label. I have encountered the following problem - the promoted build may not be the most recent build. How do I know the SVN revision of each of the four repositories used during that build? I know that each build has this information in the revision.txt and build.xml files associated with the build, but how does it become available in the context of promotion? Thanks. P.S. • How do I backup a git repo?

  I am planning to switch from SVN to git. With svn I just copy my repo folder when I want to back it up. However git doesn't have one so what do I do? Should I create a clone on a separate drive and update by pulling from my project? Then I can burn/archive this folder and it will have all the history? This is probably obvious but I want to make sure when it comes to backups. I still pretend there is a root repository.

• Software for Company internal Website [closed]

  hope this is the right stackexchange site to ask this: We've a group of webpages/services at work (SE Startup), ranging from SVN, trac, continous integration to link collections to a DMS. Nearly everything has an RSS Feed to get the info I need, with the exception of SVN. I'm looking for some kind of software that can integrate these well on a kind of start-page. The most recent changes, upcoming events etc should be clearly visible, as well as an option to search (the search will be provided from a different tool). A news area should be included as well. Currently, I'm pondering doing this with either wordpress or TWiki, although wordpress seems to be the simpler solution in terms of getting something good looking quickly. Authentication should be handled by HTTP-Basic Auth, which we already have in place and working well. I normally would consider Sharepoint a viable option for this, but we're exclusively mac and linux, I won't put up a windows server just for this.

• Windows DIR listing switch to exclude files in hidden folders

  I'm trying to get a list of files from a directory excluding files in hidden folders. With the following command, hidden folders are traversed even though I've set /A:-H to exclude hidden directories. Is there a different switch to stop them from being traversed too? dir "C:\SVN" /A:-H /w /b /s Alternatively, for this use case I know the name of the hidden folders I want to exclude, so if there is a way to exclude the folders by name ("\.svn\") that might have to suffice. For example, I add git://X/mobility.git as X to the repo (somehow), a user clone it from git://Y, but then can do git push X without previously doing the git config ?

Even when I run the script straight into the terminal like so: ./setup.sh I see the "DONE!" prompt printed but no aliases or env variables are set. If I copy and paste the contents of the file into the terminal the aliases and env variables are set. I have tried adding a line to execute the script from .bashrc also but still no aliases or env variables set. Any ideas what might be going on here? Also could anyone suggest a better way to have these env variables/aliases added to every terminal session?

  There are bits and pieces of information all over the place but I'm trying to put it all together so that GoogleCL finally accesses more than the initial 7 services. Does anyone know of a step-by-step? Right now any attempt outside these result in the error message: google tasks list Did you specify the service correctly? Must be one of 'picasa', 'blogger', 'youtube', 'docs', 'contacts', 'calendar', 'finance' I installed GoogleCL from the Ubuntu repos, authenticated a few bundled services like contacts, docs etc. and those work great, giving me access to do certain operations like upload from the command line. • Depending on fixed version of a library and ignore its updates

  I was talking to a technical boss yesterday. Its about a project in C++ that depends on opencv and he wanted to include a specific opencv version into the svn and keep using this version ignoring any updates which I disagreed with.We had a heated discussion about that. His arguments: Everything has to be delivered into one package and we can't ask the client to install external libraries. We depend on a fixed version so that new updates of opencv won't screw our code. We can't guarantee that within a version update, ex from 3.2.buildx to 3.2.buildy. Buildy the function signatures won't change. My arguments: True everything has to be delivered to the client as one package,but that's what build scripts are for. They download the external libraries and create a bundle. Within updates of the same version 3.2.buildx to 3.2.buildy its impossible that a signature change, unless it is a really crappy framework, which isn't the case with opencv. We deprive ourselves from new updates and features of that library. If there's a bug in the version we took, and even if there's a bug fix later, we won't be able to get that fix. Its simply ineffiecient and anti design to depend on a certain version/build of an external library as it makes our project difficult in the future to adopt to new changes. So I'd like to know what you guys think. Does it really make sense to include a specific version of external library in our svn and keep using it ignoring all updates?

• Installing Django on Windows

  Ever needed to install Django in a Microsoft Windows environment, here is a quick start guide to make that happen: Read through the official Django installation documentation, it might just save you a world of hut down the road. Download Python for your version of Windows. Install Python, my preference here is to put it into the Program Files folder under a folder named Python<Version> Add your chosen Python installation path into your Windows path environment variable. This is an optional step, however it allows you to just type python in the command line and have it fire up the Python interpreter. An easy way of adding it is going into Control Panel, System and into the Environment Variables section. Download Django, you can either download a compressed file or if you’re comfortable with using version control – check it out from the Django Subversion repository. Create a folder named django under your <Python installation directory>\Lib\site-packages\ folder. Using my example above that would have been C:\Program Files\Python25\Lib\site-packages\. If you chose to download the compressed file, open it and extract the contents of the django folder into your newly created folder. If you’d prefer to check it out from Subversion, the normal check out points are http://code.djangoproject.com/svn/django/trunk/ for the latest development copy or a named release which you’ll find under http://code.djangoproject.com/svn/django/tags/releases/. Done, you now have a working Django installation on Windows. At this point, it’d be pertinent to confirm that everything is working properly, which you can do by following the first Django tutorial. The tutorial will make mention of django-admin.py, which is a utility which offers some basic functionality to get you off the ground. The file is located in the bin folder under your Django installation directory. When you need to use it, you can either type in the full path to it or simply add that file path into your environment variables as well. Hope this helps!

• Using WCF DLL with VB6 ?

  I have a VB6 application that needs to communicate with a VS2008 VB.NET WCF server. I have built a VB.NET WCF DLL to be used on the client side, and it --almost-- works with the VB6 application. When I try to run the VB6 app in debug mode, I get "Could not find endpoint element with name 'NetTCPBinding_IComPortManager' and contract 'IComPortManager' in the ServiceModel client configuration section." Using a dummy VB.Net client app, with the same WCF DLL works fine. I presume that the VB6 app/WCF DLL is not finding app.config. Where should app.config be ? Is there a way to tell WCF where to find app.config ?

  Hello I am getting following error while attempting to run the Management Portal for ESB Toolkit 2.0: Event Type: Warning Event Source: ENTSSO Event Category: Enterprise Single Sign-On Event ID: 10536 Description: SSO AUDIT Function: GetConfigInfo (SSOProperties) Application Name: ESB Toolkit.exceptionHandling Error Code: 0xC0002A04, The application does not exist I am using SSO config store for the ESB Config. However, looking in the esb.config file, there is no section, like there is for the other esb SSO applications. Why might this section (and therefore the SSO app) be missing? How can I set it up? • Jboss Seam: Enabling Debug page on WebLogic 10.3.2 (11g)

  Hi all, SKIP TO UPDATE 3 I want to enable the Seam debug page on Weblogic 10.3.2 (11g). So, I have done the following: I have the jboss-seam and jboss-seam-debug jars as dependency in both my ejb and web maven projects (both are modules of my superproject) I put this context parameter in my web.xml: <context-param> <param-name>org.jboss.seam.core.init.debug</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </context-param> Now, when I hit the URL of my application, I get the debug page with this exception (full stacktrace at the end of the post): Caused by java.lang.IllegalStateException with message: "No phase id bound to current thread (make sure you do not have two SeamPhaseListener instances installed)" From posts I read it seems that this is somehow related to two jars of jboss-seam or jboss-seam-debug being in the classpath. I opened my ear file and only one of each is present (in the ear) whereas the war itself has no libraries in the WEB-INF/lib. I have also read of another way to initialize debug page using the components.xml.   I'm using the WebServiceHostFactory in my WCF services to avoid having to create a crapton of binding configuration in web.config. However, I'd like to expose the services as XML/JSON and JSONP. Reading: http://jasonkelly.net/archive/2009/02/24/using-jquery-amp-jsonp-for-cross-domain-ajax-with-wcf-services.aspx It does not look like I can extend WCF to add JSONP without resorting to a mountain of custom binding config. So, for those who have done it, is it possible to have a restful WCF service that responds in XML/JSON/JSONP depending on the UriTemplate, without resorting to a ton of config wiring?

  Hello I have a .NET DLL that writes to the Trace. But seems that when I call my DLL from a VB6 EXE the trace is not working. I have created an myApp.config file in the EXE folder with the trace configuration, but this does not solves the issue. • changing selenium domain/subdomain within cucumber scenarios

  So, I have a Rails webapp that utilizes subdomains for separating the admin functionality from the public functionality using subdomain-fu. So there is functionality(that I want to test!) contained within two urls(eg admin.example.com and www.example.com). I want some scenarios to run against the admin domain, and some against the www domain. My problem is that I cant figure out how to change the domain that selenium uses at any time after startup. I can put something like this in my env.rb: Webrat.configure do |config| config.mode = :selenium config.application_address = "admin.example.com" end And it will work, but only for the scenarios that need the admin domain. If I try something like: host! "www.example.com" inside my steps, well it seems to just be ignored by selenium, which goes on using "admin.example.com" Any ideas? Or if its not possible, any ideas for a workaround?
