• How do I set the Execute Permissions for an IIS6 website with Powershell using WMI?

  In inetmgr you can set the property I desire by going to Home Directory - Application Settings - Execute Permissions - and setting the drop down to 'Scripts Only'. I'm trying to replicate this behavior in Powershell. The Target OS is Windows Server 2003 running IIS6. Currently I have this simple code to get the site: $Site = get-wmiobject -Namespace root\MicrosoftIISv2 -query ('select * from IISWebServerSetting where ServerComment="mySite"') There are lots of properties it might be but nothing really leaps out. I've tried changing the setting in inetmgr and dumping the properties out before and after, but I see no differences (it could be a child property though). Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

• Continuous Integration with Oracle Products

  Hi, I'm currently working on a Datawarehouse project using an Oracle Database, Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Warehouse Builder and some Jython thrown in for good measure. All of which is held within TFS. My background is .net and prior to this project was seeing a lot of promise in CI. I'm not suggesting that the testing element of CI is feasible in this instance, but I would like to implement a stable deployment strategy. What I'm trying to understand is whether or not I can build some NANT scripts that will allow me to deploy ODI\OWB\Oracle DB code to any given environment at any point. Has anyone tried this before? Are there more appropriate tools out there that lends themselves better to this sort of toolset? Am I just a crazy horse to be evening contemplating this? Any view would be greatly appreciated. • Visual Studio 2010 Database Projects: Are there any videos/tutorials or comments about the new Datab

  I have recently upgraded to Visual Studio 2010. I have kept database projects separate to application projects. The database project was converted from and old DPR project and added a whole lot of additional folder. I deleted those, but now I suspect I need to recreate the project as these new projects work very differently. Now that I have need to update scripts, it seems I can even paste new SQL files into the project so am a bit stuck. Are there any tutorials / walkthrough that show the basics on starting and creating a database project? Or even better a video? Also if there are any tips and tricks or comments on this, I will be happy to hear them?

I have installed all the required Perl modules on my test platform and created an application called myweb. Also, I am going through the Catalyst documents to reach my goal but nothing helpful yet. Is Catalyst helpful to display images/graphs on web? How can I use my existing CGI/Perl scritps with Catalyst? Any example would be really appreciated.

What am really looking at is the best approach to cache the the indexpublic script does get quite some hits and I would live to avoid the Zend MVC overhead if possible.

  Hi, we'd like to measure "client side web site performance". i.e. we would like to have answers to the following questions: how long did it takt to load and render a webpage (including alle graphics scripts etc.) this bundled with additional informations like user-agent, operating system etc. a graphical tool to analyze the data would be perfect I know jiffy ( http://code.google.com/p/jiffy-web/wiki/Jiffy_js ) but that isn't maintained anymore. • What's the easiest/fast way to get my website up and running on the web?

  This is probably a really really beginner's question, but I would like to know what's the fastest way to get my site on the web so that people can start using it. I'm learning everything about programming out of books and at home so I don't have much experience. --Before I go to like godaddy.com or such site to get a domain name, is there any free sites that would allow me to upload my site so users can use it? I have html,css,php,mysql,javascipt in my scripts so I don't think many sites allow free uploads with such languages. --If I can't find a free site, is there any good places to get a domain name and web hosting that supports most languages at a low price? (doesn't have to be professional hosting because I am still a beginner) --If I go to say godaddy.com and get their webhosting and domain name, would I be allowed to run php,mysql,python,java on it? (I looked at some hosting sites and most only allow php/mysql)

• Intellij-Idea: Marking all files of unknown type be type: text (so that they are searchable)

  Many of my scripts etc in intellij are marked with a question mark. Then when I click on them them it prompts me: The file "bla" cannot be associated with a registered file type. Please choose one: <insert table of file choices> This would not matter except the files are not searchable (with ctrl-shift-n) until they are marked as text. This is a major problem for me. I have an enormous code base and I don't want to mark all of the unknown files as text. Is there anyway that I can do that? *(Note: I have cross posted this to the intellij form

• debug javascript in release mode with yui compressions

  In our build scripts, we are using YUI compressor to minify/compress javascript and css files. As this combines the js into one file, it needs to be referenced in the Master Layout script, e.g. First question is what is best way to use both, so that if we are developing (in debug mode) it will reference each js file individually? Second question, is once on production, would there be any steps/solution to debugging the javascript on the production server, i.e. conditionallly load the javascript files based on setting a "debug=true" setting in either js or .net?

• How do you document anonymous functions ?

  I'm specifically referring to JavaScript anonymous function but this could be relevant to other languages. I like to use JSDoc notations in my scripts because I know other people will be hacking at it sooner or later. • Oracle 10g - Best way to escape single quotes

  I have to generate some update statements based off a table in our database. I created the following script which is generating the update statements I need. But when I try to run those scripts I am getting errors pertaining to unescaped single quotes in the content and &B, &T characters which have special meaning in oracle. I took care of the &B and &T problem by setting SET DEFINE OFF. Whats the best way to escape single quotes within the content? • Test wordpress sites for SQL Injection on siteurl

  I have a client who's wordpress sites have gotten hacked twice by iframe scammers. Each time they've injected iframe code into the content of the sites. This last time, today, they simply changed the siteurl in wp_options to their iframe code. The result was obvious and appeared to simply botch the paths of the scripts that rely on I can't determine if its a password compromise (on FTP or WordPress itself) or a SQL injection to alter siteurl. Since the only thing that was altered is siteurl, I'm thinking perhaps SQL Injection. What are your thoughts? Any way to scan a site for potential SQL injection vulnerabilities? The only active plugins on the site are contact form 7 and google xml sitemaps.

• SVN hook script conflict

  I am trying to write a pre-commit hook script that will alter a specific svn-property of a folder/file. The script looks fairly similar to the one that is documented in the svn book. I figured out how to set/change the property of a node and when executing the binding function svn.fs.commit_txn the property of the node actually gets set. But at the moment tortoise always gives me a conflict on the folder I am altering the property. I wrote my script with Python but am new python and hook scripts. Hope someone can give me a clue why I am getting this conflict..

• Ruby as a scripting language for web server

  Is it possible to use Ruby as a scripting language with a HTTP server ? I'd like to be able to simply put some Ruby files in a web directory and be able to execute them from my browser - just like I did with PHP. I have absolutely nothing against frameworks such as RoR, but I was told that I should first learn Ruby and only then move on with higher level frameworks. Of course, I could write some Ruby scripts and run them in the console, but I would prefer getting the input/output from my browser :) Is that possible at all ? Otherwise, how hard would it be for me to build a quick and simple web framework ?

• v8 is too slow for my purpose

  I'm working on a music visualization plugin for libvisual. It's an AVS clone -- AVS being from Winamp. Right now I have a superscope plugin. This element has 4 scripts, and "point" is run at every pixel. You can imagine that it has to be rather fast. The original libvisual avs clone had a JIT compiler that was really fast, but it had some bugs and wasn't fully implemented, so I decided to try v8. Well, v8 is too slow running the compiled script at every pixel. Is there any other script engine that would be pretty fast for this purpose?

  I want to know how do you manage your vim plugins. As it is, One of the biggest fun of using is that one can easily try many interesing new plugins, just download it and unzip it in under ~/.vim. But if you try too often and try too much, you might get trouble as confilct of key mapping , in compatitble script version, dpendency between different plugin ..... Then you want to remove some plugin ,kind of like rollback your vim to a sound condition. But, the rollback could be very painful . cus for some "giant" plugin, like perl-support ( it's great plugin, anyway), will consist of many vim scripts which spread in different dirctories. To remove single one giant plugin will be anoying, not too mention if you remvoe many plugin at one time. In a word , I'm looking for good practice for managing vim plugins.

  Using EF we can use LINQ to read data which is rather simple (especialy using fluent calls), but we have less control unless we write eSQL on our own. Is writing eSQL database actually data store independant code? So if we decide to change data store, can the same statements still be used? Is writing eSQL strings in your code pose any serious security threats similar to writing TSQL statements in plain strings? So we moved to SPs. Could we still mode eSQL scripts outside of code as well and use some other technique to make them a bit more secure?

• What's the best self-tracking software for Linux?

  I'm looking for a way to track myself and receive quality data upon which I can write future scripts/programs. For example, I use Google Reader a lot. I'd like to track the hrefs that garner my clicks. Further, I'd like to drop all of the words of each href into a database where they can be stacked in a hierarchical manner. At the end of the week I want to know that "Ubuntu" garnered 448 clicks and "Cheetos" garnered 2. :) That's just one example... I'd like this tracking and data-collecting to extend beyond my browser. • Excluding files from web logs

  Looking through my web logs, I see a lot of entries that don't interest me. Some of them are commonly used images, css files, and scripts, which I can easily exclude by un-checking the 'log visits' check box in IIS for the folder properties. I would also like to exclude log entries for certain common requests which are not in their own folders. Mostly, 'favicon.ico'. 'scriptresource.axd', and 'webresource.axd'. These (especially scriptresource.axd) make up almost a third of a typical log file on my site. So, the question is, how do I tell IIS not to log these requests? And is there any reason that this is a bad idea?

We are moving to VS2010 now. We do not have MSDN licenses for our company right now. We are looking to buy just the VS2010 no MSDN. It is very pricey to get 6 of VS2010 premium. We need to get our database into source control. We are currently email scripts around, and it very difficult to keep track off. Are there any non-microsoft solutions that would be the same features and be free?
