• How to save derived type (TPT) in Entity Framework?

  I have problems with saving derived type (TPT) with Entity Framework to database. Let's say I have base entity Animal and derived type Dog. I want to save Dog entity. I thought that I could do it like contex.AddToDogs(), but contex contain only base entity - Animal. So I can only save Animal object - contex.AddToAnimals(). I have also tried with contex.AddObject("Animals", dogInstance), but I get the following error: The member with identity 'NavigationProperty' does not exist in the metadata collection. But I have add EntityReference to the "NavigationProperty". So how to save derived type in EF?

• Remove redundant entries, scala way

  Edit: Added the fact, that the list is sorted, and realizing 'duplicate' is misleading, replaced that with 'redundant' in the title. I have a sorted list of entries stating a production value in a given interval.   In an object I have : public IEnumerable<voiture> recup_voitures() { foreach (voiture v in _arrVCollection) { yield return (v); } } voiture being a struct and _arrVCollection being an array containing some struct voiture. In my main class I have : foreach (CarCollection.voiture o in collection.recup_voitures()) { //some code to display the content of each struct } What is happening is that if I have an array of length 5 and only 1 struct voiture in it, it will do the displaying code 5 times instead of only 1. What am I doing wrong?

• Backbone.js - Getting JSON back from url

  While trying to learn Backbone.js, I've been trying to grab the content of a JSON file using the following code: (function($){ var MyModel = Backbone.Model.extend(); var MyCollection = Backbone.Collection.extend({ model : MyModel, url: '/backbone/data.json', parse: function(response) { console.log(response); return response; } }); var stuff = new MyCollection; console.log(stuff.fetch()); console.log(stuff.toJSON()); })(jQuery) 'stuff.fetch()' returns the entire object (with the data I'm after in responseText), 'stuff.toJSON' returns nothing ([]), but the console in the parse method is returning exactly what I want (the json object of my data). I feel like I'm missing something obvious here, but I just can't seem to figure it out why I can't get the right data out. Could someone point me in the right direction or show me what I'm doing wrong here? Am I using a model for the wrong thing?

• Is there any way to get all the controls on a container control?

  I've got a form with a bunch of controls on it, and I wanted to iterate through all the controls on a certain panel and enable/disable them. I tried this: var component: TComponent; begin for component in myPanel do (component as TControl).Enabled := Value; end; But that did nothing. Turns out all components are in the form's component collection, not their parent object's. So does anyone know if there's any way to get all the controls inside a control? (Besides an ugly workaround like this, which is what I ended up having to do): var component: TComponent; begin for component in myPanel do if (component is TControl) and (TControl(component).parent = myPanel) then TControl(component).Enabled := Value; end; Someone please tell me there's a better way...

  I am trying to understand interfaces in Java and have this task to do which I am a stack with. It must be something easy, but I don't seem to see the solution. Interface contains a few methods, one of them should return true if all elements of this set are also in the set. I.e. public interface ISet{ //some methods boolean isSubsetOf(ISet x); } Then the class: public class myClass implements ISet{ ArrayList<Integer> mySet; public myClass{ mySet = new ArrayList<Integer>(); } //some methods public boolean isSubsetOf(ISet x){ //method body } } What do I need to write in method body? How do I check that the instance of myClass is a subset of ISet collection? I was trying to cast, but it gives an error: ArrayList<Integer> param = (ArrayList<Integer>)x; return param.containsAll(mySet);

• Removing Objects From NSMutableArray

  Hi, I have a NSMutableArray that contains all the calendars on my system (as CalCalendar objects): NSMutableArray *calendars = [[CalCalendarStore defaultCalendarStore] calendars]; I want to remove from calendars any CalCalendar objects whose title does not include the string @"work". I've tried this: for (CalCalendar *cal in calendars) { // Look to see if this calendar's title contains "work". If not - remove it if ([[cal title] rangeOfString:@"work"].location == NSNotFound) { [calendars removeObject:cal]; } } The console is complaining that: *** Collection <NSCFArray: 0x11660ccb0> was mutated while being enumerated. And things go bad. Obviously it would seem you can't do what I want to do this way so can anyone suggest the best way to go about it? Thanks,

• NSSortdescriptor, finding the path to the key I wish to use for sorting.

  Hi I am using an NSSortdescriptor to sort a collection of NSArrays, I then came across a case where the particular NSArray to be sorted contains an NSDictionary who contains an NSDictionary. I would like to sort from the string paired with a key in the last dictionary. This is how I would reference the string: NSDictionary *productDict = [MyArray objectAtIndex:index]; NSString *dealerName = [[productDict objectForKey:@"dealer"] objectForKey:@"name"]; How would I use the dealerName in my NSSortdescriptor to sort the array?   Hey as a project to improve my programing skills I've begun programing a nice code editor in python to teach myself project management, version control, and gui programming. I was wanting to utilize syntax files made for other programs so I could have a large collection already. I was wondering if there was any kind of universal syntax file format much in the same sense as .odt files. I heard of one once in a forum, it had a website, but I can't remember it now.   Here's my code: Event thisEvent = (from i in list where (i.eventID == eventID) select i).FirstOrDefault(); if (thisEvent != null) { thisEvent.eventResolved = resolved; thisEvent.eventSequence.Add(item); } "list" is a collection of IEnumerable, i.e. IEnumerable<Event> list; What I'm wondering is: after creating thisEvent using FirstOrDefault, is thisEvent still connected to list? In other words, when I change the two properties, eventResolved and eventSequence, is "list" actually changed, or is thisEvent just some totally disconnected copy of an item in "list"?

  Hi all, I'm interested in understanding the underlying implementation details of generic collections in .NET. What I have in mind are details such as how the collections are stored, how each member of a collection is accessed by the CLR, etc. For collections that are analogous to traditional data structures, such as LinkedList and Dictionary, I think I have an understanding of what's going on underneath. However, I'm not as certain about collections like List (how is set up such that it is both indexable and expandable?) and SortedList, so any leads as to what I could look up to learn more about them would be greatly appreciated.

• In Scala 2.8 collections, why was the Traversable type added above Iterable?

  I know that to be Traversable, you need only have a foreach method. Iterable requires an iterator method. Both the Scala 2.8 collections SID and the "Fighting Bitrot with Types" paper are basically silent on the subject of why Traversable was added. The SID only says "David McIver... proposed Traversable as a generalization of Iterable." I have vaguely gathered from discussions on IRC that it has to do with reclaiming resources when traversal of a collection terminates? The following is probably related to my question. There are some odd-looking function definitions in TraversableLike.scala, for example: def isEmpty: Boolean = { var result = true breakable { for (x <- this) { result = false break } } result } I assume there's a good reason that wasn't just written as: def isEmpty: Boolean = { for (x <- this) return false true }

I want a collection of records that have an option id and the number of times that option id is found in the PollRoles model. • Cannot Generate ParameterSetMetadata While Programmatically Creating A Parameter Block

  I'm trying to programmatically create a parameter block for a function ( along the lines of this blog post ). I'm starting with a CommandMetadata object (from an existing function). I can create the ParameterMetadata object and set things like the ParameterType, the name, as well as some attributes. The problem I'm running into is that when I use the GetParamBlock method of the ProxyCommand class, none of my attributes that I set in the Attributes collection of the ParameterMetadata are generated. The problem this causes is that when the GetParamBlock is called, the new parameter is not annotated with the appropriate Parameter attribute. • Listview icons show up blurry (C#)

  I'm attempting to display a "LargeIcon" view in a listview control, however the images I specify are blurry. This is what I have so far: The .png files are 48x48 and that's what I have it set to display at in the ImageList properties. There's one thing that I've noticed (which is probably the cause) but I don't know how to change it. Inside the "Images Collection Editor" where you choose what images you want for the ImageList control, it looks like it's setting the wrong size for each image. As you can see the "PhysicalDimension" and the "Size" is set to 16x16 and not abled to be manipulated. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks!

• InfoPath Getting SharePoint Group Information

  I have an InfoPath form embedded in an aspx page on a SharePoint site. How do I bind the SharePoint user groups to a drop-down list on my form? What I've tried so far is to create a data connection to a web service (method GetGroupCollectionFromWeb) to pull the data. Next, I open the list box properties, select "Look up values from an external data source", select the data source, assign the entries, and I get the following error: "You must select a repeating group or field." What I don't understand is that since the method I am calling is called GetGroupCollectionFromWeb, isn't the return value a collection? And aren't collections repeating by definition? What am I missing, and is there a workaround? Thank you.

FROM Inspection insp LEFT JOIN insp.testList " + "GROUP BY insp.inspId"); 1) How do I write the COUNT clause? I'd have to apply count to elements from the test table but testList is a collection, so I can't do smth like COUNT(insp.testList.testId) 2) Assuming 1 is resolved, what type of object will be returned. It will definitely not be an Inspection object... How do I use the result?

  Hello developers Is there any way you can store the UI state to disk when a WPF form has been minimised. I have a complex GUI with few Tab Controls and it consumes quite a bit of memory which is kept allocated when the application is not active. I was hoping one of you may have got this working along the lines (or similar) Application Active User does work, plays with UI - enters some information in the text boxes and moves around the tabs User minimises the form to work with other applications On Minimise, Save the current state to the disk and dispose the root tabcontrol On Activiate, build the root tabcontrol from the disk and add to the controls collection Before I divein to do this, I thought it will help me if I ask this question here. • Drupal Event/Calendar Module not storing event time

  Hello, all. I have installed a fresh copy of Drupal on an Xampp server. Within that install is a collection of modules for creating an event calendar. There's actually a great instructional video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO4TeEydtMs for getting all the necessary fields up. So far everything is working except... the events won't store the time as stated in the edit field. No matter what I do in the edit mode as admin or otherwise the time always says 12pm and the event on the calendar says "All Day". I know this is pretty obscure but I figured why not try and ask. • Sharing state/changes across ViewModels

  I have an App which has a Tasks tab and a Projects tab. I decided to make a separate ViewModel for each of the tabs, TasksViewModel and ProjectsViewModel. The Tasks tab has a new task area with an associated project pulldown and the Projects tab (obviously) has a list of projects. What I'd like is for the pulldown on the Tasks tab to share the same collection as the Projects tab list so that any time I add or remove a project on the Projects tab the list on the Tasks tab is up to date automatically. This worked well with a single ViewModel but it was beginning to become quite unruly. Should I not have split into two ViewModels? Is there a common method of sharing data like this? Perhaps pass the same ObservableCollection<Project> into each of the ViewModels? Perhaps some type of notification back to the TasksViewModel along the lines of ICollectionChanged. Appreciate any insight/input!
