  • Visual Studio Freezing/TFS Window Might be off screen

    I am using Visual Studio 2005 with Team Foundation Server. When I right click a file under the source control and choose "compare" VS appears to freeze until I hit escape. My guess is that the window that is supposed to be popping up is somewhere I can't get to. I tried minimizing all the windows that I can and it is nowhere to be found.

  • How to refresh/redraw the screen (not the program window)

    I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out, how to remove a drawn ellipse after it has been drawn somewhere else. I need a circle to follow my mouse all the time and this is all the program should do.     My mother was nearly brought to tears because My Pictures is no longer under My Documents. Everything in Windows (7) works around My Pictures being in its own location, with "Libraries" and everything. Her Picasa wants to index My Pictures, but finds it empty. What's more is that Microsoft created, as a compatibility hack, a junction for anyone who hard-codes My Pictures as being a sub-folder of My Documents: <JUNCTION> My Pictures [C:\Users\Mom\Pictures] What's more is that there is Pictures ? My Pictures I'm about ready to tell her that her new computer is being taken away until she either accepts the changes, or dies. Suggestions?

  • How to change the color of the navigation bar in more than one table view controller

    I am trying to figure out how to change the color of the table view navigation bar in multiple table views. The table views are all connected to a navigation controller. For example, I want one navigation bar to be blue, but another to be red. I have tried the code below in the AppDelegate.m file, but it just changes all the navigation bars to the same color. Is there anywhere else I could place this code to change the color in specific places. I've heard that I need to create new files, but I don't know where to place the code, or what code to use in the new files. I am somewhat new to this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated![[UINavigationBar appearance] setBarTintColor:[UIColor orangeColor]];

    I have 5 hard drives, where I want to keep my data. Some of my files are more important, and some of them are less. So some of them I wish to put on RAID-6, and for some it RAID-5 is sufficient. It is difficult to predict at the moment of creation of the arrays how much space of each type to declare. What I would do if I didn't hear about zfs, is partition the hard drives into identical 100GB partitions, and as my needs grow, assemble those partitions into md devices using linux-raid. Then, I'd combine those devices using lvm into logical volumes where I'd put my data. So when I'd need more space of e.g. RAID-6, I'd take 100GB partition from each hard drive and assemble them into another RAID-6 md device and would use it as physical storage for the logical volume group dedicated for RAID-6 data. Then I could grow the file system on this logical volume. On top of RAID-6 and RAID-5 Volume Groups (managed by lvm) would reside completely independent file systems, which I'd later merge with multiple mount --bind into a single directory structure that would reflect the logical structure of data rather that of the storage. But now, when I heard about the ZFS with all the performance, data-healing and compression capabilities I cannot stop thinking if it can help me. If so, what do you think would be the best setup?

  • Dhcp server change fail after successful importing to new machine

    I transfered the configs of a dhcp server from one server to another both running Windows Server 2003 R2 following http [://] support.microsoft.com/kb/325473. The new server has a statically configured ip(outside the scope) like the old one. Stopped the server on the old, and started up in the new server (authorized too) - but when I ipconfig /renew from a client its network interface fails with all 0.0.0.0 (or 169...*). I read somewhere I need to reconcile the scope to sync the new registry values ('ll try this tomorrow). What other troubleshooting steps can I take other than these (which didn't help)? Things work fine when the old server resurrects and the new one is taken down. The new server showed there was no requests for offer.

  • How to change my commandline locale after CentOS decided to change it?

    So apparently, CentOS decided I was Dutch, and thus, should not have a English locale. Apart from the fact that this greatly bothers me, I am having a pretty hard time actually changing it back. There does not seem to be a setlocale function, and system-config-language tells me I am using an English locale, even though my environment says otherwise. Any help would be appreciated.   • Batch change modified/created dates?

    I recently bought new hard drives for my NAS. This means that I'm copying all the data off the NAS, upgrading it, and then moving the data back. I've gotten as far as copying the data from the NAS, but every file's modified/created date has been changed to when it was copied (today). Is there a way, keeping in mind that I have the original data, to batch update the modified/created dates on the copied files without having to copy them over again (we're talking over a terabyte of data)?

    I'm using Debian squeeze with Gnome Desktop for all my users. I have a group of machines to set up so that all users should use xpdf as a default viewer (rather than evince). I want this set up to be done by command line (even better, using puppet). I know about xpg-mime command, but the man page says that the default command should not be used as root. I could manually tweek the /etc/gnome/defaults.list files, but I'm looking for a single command I could run to perform the setting without an editor interaction. Any idea ?

    Using [NSScreen screens] I'm able to get all of the screens attached to the computer and their sizes, however I'm trying to find out their positions relative to each other (like in Arrangement in the Display preferences).     I have a Windows Server 2003 running from a Vmware player on Win 7 box. The idea is to test Windows Deployment service in the virtual network. Is it possible to configure the vmware dhcp server with WDS related stuff(option 66, 67)? I found a few references where people were using the vnetlib.exe to start, stop the dhcp serverchange the subnet mask etc - but there's no info on how to get set the dhcp server options. DHCP config from the virtual network editor I do have the Workstation, without the license for it. In the Virtual network Editor, the DHCP settings for the network I'm using, only allows me to set the subnetmask, IP ranges and stuff like that. But not the dhcp options. DHCP server on the WDS server Authorizing the DHCP server in the guest WDS server fails. The VMware player can run its own dhcp server fro the virtual network with out any authorization from the Active directory - can I do the same, with Win dhcp server in the guest Win Server? ~~~~~ Can I authorize W2K8 DHCP server for private network, even when prohibited in enterprise network? says we have to run a third party dhcp server... :/.

  • Blackberry (Java) - Setting scrolling be not focused on objects on the screen

    I have a mainscreen which currently scrolls (and I have the arrows on the right) but the scrolling seems to be focused on the ButtonField objects that I have on the page. Is there any way to set the scrolling to be non-focused scrolling (moving a few pixels each time). Is there a way to set this? Other ideas I have had (which sound hacky so I want to avoid): - Placing NullFields around to scroll - Manually listening to the trackwheelRoll event and moving appropriately

    I have a VPS, until now I used the default root user for SSH access and everything. For security reasons I'd like to use a different user for root, terminal access and sudo operations. So I created another user, gave him the sudo and every other perm. The problem is that all the system files belongs to root. What happens if I set PermitRootLogin No for root? Those files wouldn't be editable by the new root user!

    I try to draw a class diagram using Vim. I fill the editor window with white-spaces. Type :match SpellBad /\s/ to highlight all the white-spaces. Ctrl+Q to select vertical white-spaces. Ctrl+I to insert Bar(|) and then Esc ........................... v+l +... + l to select horizontal white-spaces But I don't know how to change all selected horizontal white-spaces to underscore(_). I have to hit _ serval times.   • Change to different user, or let different user execute a command

    I have a problem. There is a server which I can access with an account by ssh, lets say WG. Now there is a folder with the following permissions. drwxr-s---+ 855 vvz www-data 20K Aug 21 17:56 pictures I want to copy this folder using rsync, however since I am not the user www-data but WG I cannot execute rsync. So I want www-data to execute a rsync command. However, I do not posses sudo powers. My friend however tells me that I am actually able to execute the rsync command as www-data, but he will not tell me how. I asked him for some clues and he told me that it had something to do with reverse shell (which I figured out to be that you connect by ssh to your server and then you connect back to your own server, or something). I also asked if it was by-design or actually a flaw in the system. He tells me it is both. Furthermore I think it has something to do with the group permissions. If I just make sure that I am with the group permissions then I can also read the files. Anybody has a clue?

  • Possible to change the order of the shortcut locations in windows explorer

    When you open a new explorer window by default it loads from the starting position "Computer" which shows your drives, etc. This is all well and good except when explorer loads it bumps the scroll bar down so that half the favorites are cut off. I can scroll up to get to the ones I want but that gets really old doing that 50 times a day. I do clean out my favorites frequently but more are added all the time and used. In trying to come up with a fix for this problem I thought maybe it would be possible to move the link to "Computer" to be at the very top and the "Favorites" area directly under that but I can't figure out a way to do that. Anyone have an idea? Or maybe another solution I haven't thought of?

    HI, Just ran into a problem. How to I change a picturebox's picture from within a different header file. If I do it in the same .h file as the Form I am working on I use: sq1-Image = bi; (which loads in a bitmap) but when I do it from another header (i've included the correct header file), I get "sq1 is an undeclared identifier" and "left of '-image' must point to a class/struct/union/generic" What I'm looking for is something like Form1::sq1-Image = bi; Basically I just want to point the program to change picturebox from another location....Is this possible?   • moving my site, IP change worries...

    Hi all, my site has outgrown the shared hosting account it's on and i've setup a VPS that i'll be moving to soon. I cannot keep the same IP between my new account and the old one and I'm a bit at loss as to how to minimize user downtime while the new IP is reflected in all DNS caches. Note I cannot have the site running on both accounts at the same time as it's a dating site and this would cause data inconsistency. Here's what i am planning to do : Put up a 'under maintenance' page on old host Get the site up and running on new host, and update domain to point to new host. Hope downtime isn't too long. Would it be a good idea to have a link on the page in (1) that opens the new site but using it's ip ? Or even redirect all requests at the old host, to the new one (again by ip) ? Any advice much appreciated.

    I have a test django app. In one page the test show the same question to all users. I'd like that when a user answers correctly, send a signal to other active user's browser to refresh to the next question. I have been learning about signals in django I learning work with them but I don't now how send the "refresh signal" to client browser. I think that it can do with a javascript code that check if a certain value (actual question) change and if change reload the page but I don't know this language and the information that I find was confused.     Hi, I have made two folders, res/layout and res/layout-land The output i got If I start the application in portrait mode, it will always use the xml in layout folder if the application run in portrait mode. And will not use xml in layout-land if i change the device to landscape mode If it start in landscape mode it only use the xml in layout-land The xml is not switching when the orientation change What i expect was It should use the xml in layout folder while it is in portrait mode and use the xml in layout-land while in landscape mode In the Manifest file i have added android:configChanges="orientation" for the activity and <supports-screens android:resizeable="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:anyDensity="true" /> Did i missed any thing here? What changes i need to do here? Thank You
