  • How to remove the Junk E-mail folder from Outlook?

    Is it possible to do this? I'm using Outlook with my GMail account, and as such I don't really need/want the Junk E-mail folder as GMail does a sufficiently good job in filtering out the spam. I've tried using both another email client (Thunderbird) and the GMail web app to remove the folder, but Outlook just recreates it the next time it starts up. If I can't remove it, is there a way to map the folder Outlook is using to the GMail/Spam folder instead?

  • Windows Scheduled Tasks losing password configuration

    I have a couple of jobs scheduled to run daily on a customer server running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, SP1 using Windows Scheduled Tasks. The tasks are set to run as a user that is in the Administrators group, and were scheduled as that same user. The password of that user is set to never expire. These tasks fail to run pretty much every day. Going into Scheduled Tasks and attempting to run the tasks manually indicates that the password is incorrect. I go into the task properties, retype the password into the appropriate fields, click OK, and attempt to run the task manually again. Now it works fine. What might be the cause of the password being lost like this? These same tasks are running on other customers servers with no problems. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    I am running a half dozen different cron jobs from my hosting at Hostmonster.com. When a cronjob has been executed I receive an email with the output of the script. The email comes in the format of: From: Cron Daemon Subject: Cron /ramdisk/bin/php5 -c /home5/username/scheduled/optimize_mysql.bash The problem with this is that the subject of the email makes it very hard to read which cronjob the email is pertaining to.     Does the cron which comes with OS X log its actions anywhere? I'm not looking for output of any particular cron job, but rather log of what cron is doing. On a couple linux machines I've checked, there's /var/log/cron which has contents like: Apr 26 11:00:01 localhost crond[27755]: (root) CMD (/root/bin/mysql-backup) Apr 26 11:01:01 localhost crond[27892]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly) Apr 26 11:07:01 localhost crond[28138]: (root) CMD (/usr/local/bin/python /home/ user1/scripts/pythonscript.py) Apr 26 11:18:18 localhost crontab[28921]: (user2) LIST (user2) Apr 26 11:18:22 localhost crontab[28929]: (user2) BEGIN EDIT (user2) Apr 26 11:18:59 localhost crontab[28929]: (user2) REPLACE (user2) This shows when jobs ran, when users viewed or edited crontabs, etc. This stuff is nowhere that I've found on my Snow Leopard machine.

    If I need to print a colored document on a black and white printer, then which one of these options do you think is better: desaturating the document first and then sending it to printer giving the print command on the colored document only (trusting the printer for the job) I know most of us use the second option.     I have migrated my sitecollection(migsitecollection) to different farm using content deployment job. http://vsmoss/sites/migsitecollection I used collaboration portal to create it.Its working fine from where I migrated it but after running content deployment jobs my new migrated site global navigation settings are not getting saved when I am trying ot change them by going in settings-Navigation and in logs I can see this error The SPNavigation store is likely corrupt. I saw on net the solution for this problem is changing onet.xml and running script on sql database for the site, I am eager to better answer than this but if its the same I have few doubts on it: First,As my site template is not customised its the collobartion portal so I am not sure where exactly to change the onet.xml. Second, I am using the same database as of my webapplication running that script would not affect anything else on the main site of mine?

I want the solr service to startup if I reboot my computer, and I also want it to run by itself instead of me opening up cmd.exe and running it manually, and then having to close my terminal connection (not log off as that will close it).   • How do internal smtp servers send mail to internal mail servers on the network?

    We have upgraded our internal corporate email server and the IP address has changed internal to our network. A second email server is used for sending bulk jobs for a mailing list service that we offer. Since the switch of the internal corporate server IP we have been seeing problems when the bulk email server is trying to send email to our own domain. The log shows that it is still trying to hit the old corporate server instead of the new one. I have looked through all settings for the bulk email software and see nothing set there to send to internal mail servers, and I do not recall doing anything special to get this working when setup a couple years ago. Is there a setting in Win2003 or on the network that enables the mapping of MX record external IPs to internal IPs so mail gets routed correctly?

This is great for showing an old / archived version of the site, but I suspect maintenance is going to be a real pain. I moved the files over with rsync in the first place. Is this the kinda thing that could be run as a cron job, automatically moving over newer files?

  • Windows Fax Server Leaves Documents in "Pending" Status

    We are having an issue with Windows Fax Server on Windows Server 2008. Occasionally, the server will get into a state where after adding jobs to the outbox, they will simply remain at the pending status (without any attempt to send them). There is nothing in the event log mentioning a problem. It typically seems to enter the state after restarting the server or after no faxes have been sent for a while. The way to fix the issue has been to: Stop the Fax service Go into the modem properties in device manager and query modem Start the Fax service - at which point all the pending faxes in the outbox will send.

    Most desk jobs these days involve the frequent use of a web browser. What Firefox UI customisations increase your productivity and make your working life easier? Not necessarily add-ons (although no reason why not as long as they're UI-related), but I'm thinking more along the lines of toolbar removal/placement, icon/menu removal/placement, tweaks to userChrome.css etc. to make things more pleasant and optimal. Screenshots welcome. I realise some people feel UI customisation makes switching between machines harder. Whilst I agree to some extent, if you mainly use one machine, and it helps your productivity - why not?

  • Address bar in Finder?

    I'm used to knowing where all my files are (and I'm anal about it -- I don't need Mr Jobs thinking he knows best about where my files should go). Is there a way to get an address bar to show up in Finder in OSX (10.5+) like in Explorer in Windows or Nautilus in Gnome. Edit: I also want to be able to copy the address bar. Perhaps the workflow is different on a Mac, but I'm use to throughly sorting my files under many layers of folders and then when I need to upload or download something, or access a file in command line or etc, I can copy and paste that directly into the file dialog. To clarify, my goal is to have an experience like in Windows: press Ctrl + D (CMD + L) and Ctrl + C.

    I would like to backup, not only the databases that belong to a particular application living on a shared server, but also, those things that get stored outside of the database; the server accounts, jobs, maintenance plans and whatever else I can't think of at the moment. This backup should be complete enough that it's corresponding restore will recreate the entire application on a different SQL server. This seems like a problem others must have dealt with in the past. So before I embark on creating custom Powershell scripts for each application, I have come to ask you... Can you help?

  • Can I disallow printing with parent controls on Snow Leopard?

    I have two children under 4 who are quite computer-savvy, and have their own account managed by parental controls to restrict what they can do an see. However, I haven't found a way to disallow them from printing, and I'm looking for a way do so. Their pictures of Sesame Street and Word World are cute and all, but I'd like to be in control of what (or even if) they print. (Our printer is connected wirelessly, not directly to the Mac.) I know I can add more time or authorize use of a given application by providing my password — can I do something similar for printing, such as approving or denying particular print jobs?

    I'm using OpenVPN with Tunneblick on my Macbook Pro to access a server on my job. I't works fine, but i can't get it working with my Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router. I get this warning: WARNING: potential route subnet conflict between local LAN [192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0] and remote VPN [192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0] Someone told me that i should "port forward" on my router, but i can't figure out the right settings. Also not shure i'm doing it right.
