In this write I insert a row that has foreign key which has the same value for all rows, and this exception occurs: Could not recover transaction.     In other words, is the following "cursoring" approach guaranteed to work: retrieve rows from DB save the largest ID from the returned records for later, e.g. in LastMax later, "SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE Id > {0}", LastMax In order for that to work, I have to be sure that every row I didn't get in step 1 has an Id greater than LastMax. Is this guaranteed, or can I run into weird race conditions?

    Here's my table with some sample data a_id | b_id ------------ 1 225 2 494 3 589 When I run this query INSERT IGNORE INTO table_name (a_id, b_id) VALUES ('4', '230') ('2', '494') It inserts both those rows when it's supposed to ignore the second value pair (2, 494) No indexes defined, neither of those columns are primary. What don't I know?

  • Calculating average (AVG) and grouping by week on large data set takes too long

    I'm getting average prices by week on 7 million rows, it's taking around 30 seconds to get the job done. This is the simple query: SELECT AVG(price) as price, yearWEEK(FROM_UNIXTIME(timelog)) as week from pricehistory where timelog > $range and product_id = $id GROUP BY week The only week that actually gets data changed and is worth averaging every time is always the last one, so this calculation for the whole period is a waste of resources. I just wanted to know if mysql has a tool to help out on this.

In IE8 its false for some reason and therefore it does not put the OnChange javascript event on the input tag. Has anyone seen anything like this before? we are using Freemarker 2.3.9 Update, it kinda works if i turn compatibility mode on for IE8. but not exactly. when i do that, the onchange event doesn't fire until the check box loses focus. which is very different than everything else. Is there a quick way to fix this without too much trouble? i suppose i could put something in that says if ie8, insert onclick instead of onchange. that may work, but i would need an authorization from the client to fix it like that.

I know that delete does not reclaim the memory space, but as i found in a description of DELETE command, inserts may reuse the space deleted In MyISAM tables, deleted rows are maintained in a linked list and subsequent INSERT operations reuse old row positions. I am interested if LOAD DATA command also reuses the deleted space? UPDATE I am also interested how the index space reclaimed?
