  • Can I host multiple sites with one Amazon EC2 instance [duplicate]

    This question already has an answer here: Can you help me with my capacity planning? 2 answers I currently have VPS server and I pay around $75 per month and I get: 40GB HD 2Gb RAM 100GB BW 6 core cpu (but i dont use much) I have only one live website running and traffic is only max 100 user visit per day. I mostly do the my testing stuff and some of my inter sites for playing with coding. But I do need one server. I am thinking of moving to Amazon EC2 if the price diff is not so much because then I can learn some more stuff. I am thinking of getting the 3 years Heavy utilization Reserved instance because my server will be running all day and night. I tried their online caluclator with Medium Instance Heavy reserved for 3 years for EC2 it comes $31 per month(effective price) and for EBS and S3 , I think even if thats it $40 for all other stuff. I will be at no loss for what I am getting at present. Am i correct or I missed something?? Now In my current VPS I have Apache for PHP sites and MOD wsgi for python sites. I am not sure if I will be able to do all that stuff in Amazon EC2. Can I host python and PHP sites both in Amazon EC2 instance using Named Virtual Hosts and Ngnix

  • Domain name is bringing up wrong site

    I have a VPS that hosts several domains. I have set up Apache in the following manner: First VirtualHost /etc/apache2/sites-available/somedomain.com <VirtualHost somedomain.com:80> ServerName somedomain.com ServerAlias www.somedomain.com ... </VirtualHost> Second VirtualHost /etc/apache2/sites-available/someotherdomain.com <VirtualHost someotherdomain.com:80> ServerName someotherdomain.com ServerAlias www.someotherdomain.com ... </VirtualHost> Then I symlink the config files from sites-available to sites-enabled and all is well. I had a need to 'turn off' someotherdomain.com, so I removed the symlink to /etc/apache2/sites-available/someotherdomain.com from sites-enabled and the site no longer shows up... BUT typing someotherdomain.com into a web browser brings up somedomain.com!!! I need it to not resolve at all. Does somethiing need to be done in the VirtualHost to just automatically return a 500 or something along those lines. I really don't want people to reach one website from a different domain. Thanks!   • Alias wordpress folder from within another website

    I have a little dilemma. I wrote a custom PHP MVC framework and built a CMS on top of it. I decided to give nginx+fpm a whirl too. Which is the root of my dilemma. I was asked to incorporate a wordpress blog into my website (yah.) It has much content and it's not feasible in the short amount of time I have to bring all the content into my CMS. Because of using Apache for years, I'm, admittedly, a little lost using nginx. When an SSL request is made with my employer's iPhone, this error message is displayed: Accept Website Certificate The certificate for this website is invalid. Tap Accept to connect to this website anyway. I've pulled up the same pages in other browsers, including Safari, and they do not show any issues with the certs.     Hey Guys I have a website and am planning to develop a mobile version of it for the iphone, blackberry and android. My website is a social network built on PHP Zend framework. Now all these mobile apps are going to be having the same functionality like the website. I am little ignorant about this - but from a high level I understand that all these mobile apps should not have to write any backend logic. For every functionality - they will simply make a web service API call to interact with the backend. So does that mean, for every functionality I need to create a web service method. Can the existing code be re used - I'm a little lost - Can someone shed some light on this matter or point me in the right direction (like some articles) Thanks

  • MS Query Analyzer / Management Studio replacement?

    I've been using SQL Server since version 6.5 and I've always been a bit amazed at the fact that the tools seem to be targeted to DBAs rather than developers. I liked the simplicity and speed of the Query Analyzer for example, but hated the built-in editor, which was really no better than a syntax coloring-capable Notepad. Now that we have Management Studio the management part seems a bit better but from a developer standpoint the tools is even worse. Visual Studio's excellent text editor... without a way to customize keyboard bindings!? Don't get me started on how unusable is the tree-based management hierarchy. Why can't I re-root the tree on a list of stored procs for example the way the Enterprise Manager used to allow? Now I have a treeview that needs to be scrolled horizontally, which makes it eminently useless. The SQL server support in Visual Studio is fantastic for working with stored procedures and functions, but it's terrible as a general ad hoc data query tool. I've tried various tools over the years but invariably they seem to focus on the management side and shortchange the developer in me. I just want something with basic admin capabilities, good keyboard support and requisite DDL functionality (ideally something like the Query Analyzer). At this point I'm seriously thinking of using vim+sqlcmd and a console... I'm that desperate :) Those of you who work day in and day out with SQL Server and Visual Studio... do you find the tools to be adequate? Have you ever wished they were better and if you have found something better, could you share please? Thanks!

I have following paths references to my js and css files. <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/styles.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.js"></script> the above code is working fine on my local machine. the JS file is not loading when i host the website into production server. Problem in my hosting server is my website is ponted to www.somewebsitename.com instead www.somewebsitename.com/home.aspx . When I load the page with www.somewebsitename.com/home.aspx this url it is loading all the js files it is not loading files only when I load the page with www.somewebsitename.com. Please solve my problem. How to reference JS files so that they ll loaded how ever u visit the page.
