  • trying to copy security groups to a user using dsmod group utility in AD

    i am trying to create a batch file that asks to enter source samid and destination samid. then using dsquery and dsget find out what security groups source samid is assigned to and assign destination samid to those security groups using dsmod. everything works except the dsmod group command. it doesnt do anything and batch file stops. if i literally put "CN=marketing,OU=test group,DC=abc,DC=com" instead of %%g and "CN=test1,OU=test group,DC=abc,DC=com" instead of %dusercn%, it works fine. can anyone help with this? i have pasted my scrip here. this last small thing is killing me. echo off echo %date% at %time% set /p susername=enter source user name: set /P dusername=enter destination user name: echo %susername% echo %dusername% set dusercn= %dusercn%=dsquery user -samid %dusername% echo %dusercn% for /f "tokens=*" %%g in ('dsquery user -samid %susername% ^|dsget user -memberof') do (dsmod group %%g -addmbr %dusercn%) echo completed pause

I know AJAX has a cross-site problem, but it seems that Google's ad's somehow manage the effect in a cross-browser / cross-site fashion. Knowing that I have to give people a simple cut/paste snippet to put in their website...how can I achieve this? How did Google?

    I'm trying to map my skills and responsibilities profile sections to one of the custom properties in Active Directory (extensionattribute1 , 2, etc). I'm entering comma seperated values in AD and it's importing the values fine but sees the comma seperated values as one value on import. i.e. 'C#,asp.net,javascript' rather than 'C#', 'asp.net', 'Javascript'. Any ideas. I'm almost there it's just not spliting the values correctly on import. thanks in Advance

  • Wireless very slow. Changed mode from Infracstructure to Ad-hoc

    This is my first time using Linux so go easy on me :) I downloaded and installed Mint 11 couple of days ago and I was having trouble connecting to internet with wifi. Actually it says it connects but does not load any webpages. I tried to get help from this model of laptop owners (Asus G73SW) who uses mostly Ubuntu but they said they never had any problem right from install. So I decided to try out Ubuntu 11.04. Same thing. BUT now I get internet after going into Network Connection edit and changing the Mode from Infracstructure to Ad-Hoc. I get load pages but very slow. And if I'm not mistaken, as I was writing this paragraph, I might have been disconnected. However the wifi bar is full. Please help me this newb because I really want to keep using Ubuntu but I might just have to go back to W7 if nothing can be done. Thank you!

    Hello., Whenever i need to copy some files and couldnt find a pen drive, [ i dont have bluetooth enabled in my lap], I create a new ad hoc (wireless) network in windows and share the necessary files on the network and share files with the other system. Now, i want to do the same with Ubuntu. But, i couldn't. I could create a new network, but i am not able to chare or send or even dont know how to access the system connected to the network.     Bigger companies usually have the problem, that it is not possible to write all programs employees want (to save time and to optimize processes) due to a lack of staff and money. Then hidden programs will be created by some people having (at least some) coding experience (or by cheap students/interns...). Under some circumstances these applications will raise in importance and spread from one user to a whole department. Then there is the critical point: Who will maintain the application, add new features, ...? And this app is critical. It IS needed. But the intern has left the company. No one knows how it works. You only have a bunch of sources and some sort of documentation. Does it make sense to try and control or forbid application development done ad-hoc outside of the IT department (with the exception of minor stuff like Excel macros)?

I need to authenticate users against a Windows AD and the web application should only allow logins from members of group X, otherwise it should redirect to an error page. How can I configure this? Also, I would like to display the name of the logged-in user on all pages, not the name of the Windows user of the server machine. I have tried the System.property("user.name") for this, but this only returns the name of the Windows user of the server name.

    Hi, I am looking for a bit of guidence on how to create mail contacts in AD. This is a follow on question from SO Q#1861336. What I am trying to do is add a load of contact objects into an OU in Active Directory. I've been using the examples on CodeProject, however they only show how to make new user etc. How do I create a contact using c#? Is it similar to creating a new user but with different LDAP type attributes? My plan is to then run the enable-mailcontact cmdlet powershell script to enable Exchange 2010 to see the contact in the GAL. As you can see by my questions I don't usually deal with c# or Active Directory so any help/pointers would be really useful before I start playing with this loaded gun. Thanks, Grant

    I have an AD: drive, which should allow me to browse active directory from within Powershell. But when I try to use it, it will not let me navigate beyond the root.     Here is what I am trying to achieve: I have a nested OU structure that is about 5 levels deep. OU=Portal,OU=Dev,OU=Apps,OU=Grps,OU=Admin,DC=test,DC=com I am trying to find out if the user has permissions/exists at OU=Portal. Here's a snippet of what I currently have: PrincipalContext domain = new PrincipalContext( ContextType.Domain, "test.com", "OU=Portal,OU=Dev,OU=Apps,OU=Grps,OU=Admin,DC=test,DC=com"); UserPrincipal user = UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity(domain, myusername); PrincipalSearchResult<Principal> group = user.GetAuthorizationGroups(); For some unknown reason, the value user generated from the above code is always null. However, if I were to drop all the OU as follows: PrincipalContext domain = new PrincipalContext( ContextType.Domain, "test.com", "DC=test,DC=com"); UserPrincipal user = UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity(domain, myusername); PrincipalSearchResult<Principal> group = user.GetAuthorizationGroups(); this would work just fine and return me the correct user. I am simply trying to reduce the number of results as opposed to getting everything from AD. Is there anything that I am doing wrong? I've googled for hours and tested various combinations without much luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Dan
