  • Making Cisco WebEx work with 13.10 Saucy 64-bit

    - by Russ Lowenthal
    I was having a very hard time getting webex to work under Saucy. Up until now I've been able to just install a java plugin, install ia32-libs, and I was good to go. With Saucy ia32-libs is gone and it's up to us to figure out which 32-bit libraries we need to install. I struggled with this for a few days trying blindly to install this and that until I found a way to get exactly what I need. I got the clue I needed from this post: http://blogs.kde.org/2013/02/05/ot-how-get-webex-working-suse-linux-122-64bit#comment-9534 and for anyone who wants it, here is a step-by-step method to follow that works every time (so far) ***Install JDK and configure java plugin for browser. No need for a 32-bit JDK or Firefox ***Try to start a webex. This will create $HOME/.webex/1324/ ***Check those .so libraries for unresolved dependencies by running ldd against them. For example: ldd $HOME/.webex/1324/*.so >>check.txt Look in check.txt for anything that is not found. For example, I found: > libdbr.so: > linux-gate.so.1 => (0xf7742000) > libjawt.so => not found > libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 (0xf75e6000) > libXmu.so.6 => not found > libdl.so.2 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0xf75e0000)* ***Find what packages provide that file by installing apt-file with: sudo apt-get install apt-file apt-file update note: apt-file update will take a while, go get a cup of tea then locate which package contains your missing libraries with: apt-file search libXmu.so.6 apt-file search libjawt.so ***and fix it using: apt-get install -y libxmu6:i386 apt-get install -y libgcj12-awt:i386

  • Slick2D - Cannot instantiate the type Image

    - by speakon
    I am getting this strange error and I cannot for the life of me figure out why: Cannot instantiate the type Image CODE: import java.awt.Image; import org.newdawn.slick.GameContainer; import org.newdawn.slick.Graphics; import org.newdawn.slick.SlickException; import org.newdawn.slick.state.BasicGameState; import org.newdawn.slick.state.StateBasedGame; public class MainMenuState extends BasicGameState { int stateID = -1; Image background = null; Image startGameOption = null; Image exitOption = null; float startGameScale = 1; float exitScale = 1; MainMenuState( int stateID ) { this.stateID = stateID; } public int getID() { return stateID; } public void init(GameContainer gc, StateBasedGame sbg) throws SlickException { try { background = new Image("data/menu.jpg"); Image menuOptions = new Image("data/menuoptions.png"); startGameOption = menuOptions.getSubImage(0, 0, 377, 71); exitOption = menuOptions.getSubImage(0, 71, 377, 71); }catch (SlickException e) { System.err.print(e); } } public void render(GameContainer gc, StateBasedGame sbg, Graphics g) throws SlickException { } public void update(GameContainer gc, StateBasedGame sbg, int delta) throws SlickException { } } Why do I get this error? I've googled endlessly and nobody else has it, this worked fine in my other game. Any ideas?

  • How can I resize a set of sprite images?

    - by Tyler J Fisher
    Hey StackExchange GameDev community, I'm attempting to resize series of sprites upon instantiation of the class they're located in. I've attempted to use the following code to resize the images, however my attempts have been unsuccessful. I have been unable to write an implementation that is even compilable, so no error codes yet. wLeft.getScaledInstance(wLeft.getWidth()*2, wLeft.getHeight()*2, Image.SCALE_FAST); I've heard that Graphics2D is the best option. Any suggestions? I think I'm probably best off loading the images into a Java project, resizing the images then outputting them to a new directory so as not to have to resize each sprite upon class instantiation. What do you think? Photoshopping each individual sprite is out of the question, unless I used a macro. Code: package game; //Import import java.awt.Image; import javax.swing.ImageIcon; public class Mario extends Human { Image wLeft = new ImageIcon("sprites\\mario\\wLeft.PNG").getImage(); //Constructor public Mario(){ super("Mario", 50); wLeft = wLeft.getScaledInstance(wLeft.getWidth()*2, wLeft.getHeight()*2, Image.SCALE_FAST); }

  • How can I transform a Point2f with a matrix on Android?

    - by Vivendi
    I'm developing for Android and I'm using the android.renderscript.Matrix3f class to do some calculations. What I need to do now is to now is to do something like mat.tranform(pointIn, pointOut); So I need to transform a matrix by a given Point class. In awt I would simply do this: AffineTransform t = new AffineTransform(); Point2D.Float p = new Point2D.Float(); t.transform( p, p ); But in Android I now have this: Matrix3f t = new Matrix3f(); PointF p = new PointF(); // Now I need to tranform it somehow.. But the Matrix3f class in Android doesn't have a Matrix.transform(Point2D ptSrc, Point2D ptDst) method. So I guess I have to do the transformation manually. But I'm not really sure how that works. From what I've seen it's something like a translate and then a rotate? Could anyone please tell me how to do this in code?

  • Designing business objects, and gui actions

    - by fozz
    Developing a product ordering system using Java SE 6. The previous implementations used combo boxes, text fields, and check boxes. Preforming validation on action events from the GUI. The validation includes limiting existing combo boxes items, or even availability. The issue in the old system was that the action was received and all rules were applied to the entire business object. This resulted in a huge event change as options were changed multiple times. To be honest I have no idea how an infinite loop wasn't produced. Through the next iteration I stepped in and attempted to limit the chaos by controlling the order in which the selections could be made. Making configuration of BO's a top down approach. I implemented custom box models, action events, beans/binding, and an MVC pattern. However I still am unable to fully isolate action even chains. I'm thinking that I've approached the whole concept backwards in an attempt to stay closest to what was already in place. So the question becomes what do I design instead? I'm currently considering an implementation of Interfaces, Beans, Property Change Listeners to manage the back and forth. Other thoughts were validation exceptions, dynamic proxies.... I'm sure there are a ton of different ways. To say that one way is right is crazy, and I'm sure it will take a blending of multiple patterns. My knowledge of swing/awt validation is limited, previously I did backend logic only. Other considerations are were some sort of binding(jgoodies or otherwise) to directly bind GUI state to BO's.

  • Java: How to Make a Player Class in a Tile-Based RPG

    - by A.K.
    So I've been following a JavaHub tutorial that basically uses a pixel engine similar to MiniCraft. I've attempted to make a Player Class as such, and I'm basically making a mock Pokemon game for learning's sake: package pokemon.entity; import java.awt.Rectangle; import pokemon.gfx.Screen; import pokemon.levelgen.Tile; import pokemon.entity.SpritesManage;; public class Player { int x, y; int vx, vy; public Rectangle AshRec; public Sprite AshSprite; Screen screen; Sprite[][] AshSheet; public Player() { AshSprite = SpritesManage.AshSheet[1][0]; AshRec = new Rectangle(0, 0, 16, 16); x = 0; y = 0; vx = 1; vy = 1; screen.renderSprite(0, 0, AshSprite); } public void update() { move(); checkCollision(); } private void checkCollision() { } private void move() { AshRec.x += vx; AshRec.y += vy; } public void render(Screen screen, int x, int y) { screen.renderSprite(x, y, AshSprite); } } I guess what I really want to do is have the Player centered in the screen and have the sprite drawn based on an Input Handler. I'm just stumped as to how to sync these together.

  • Extremely slow startup of tomcat

    - by Henrik
    I have a tomcat 7 installation on a Solaris 10 server. My problem is that starting the server (or deploying a new war) is extremely slow. It usually take 30 - 60 minutes. The war application is a medium sized grails application so there are quite a a lot of files. The server is running other server applications as well but from my basic skills I don't see this as a problem. Can anyone give me some tips on how to analyse this? Settings in Tomcat, java, server, disc access or something else? I use these parameters to tomcat: CATALINA_OPTS="-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote=true -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -server -Xms1536m -Xmx1536m -XX:NewSize=256m -XX:MaxNewSize=256m -XX:PermSize=512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:+DisableExplicitGC" And I use a 32 bit java 1.6.

  • How to store a list of Objects that might change in future?

    - by Amogh Talpallikar
    I have set of Objects of the same class which have different values of their attributes. and I need to find the best match from a function under given scenarios out of these objects. In future these objects might increase as well. Quite similar to the way we have Color class in awt. we have some static color objects in the class with diff rgb values. But in my case say, I need to chose the suitable color out of these static ones based on certain criteria. So should I keep them in an arrayList or enum or keep them as static vars as in case of Colors. because I will need to parse through all of them and decide upon the best match. so I need them in some sort of collection. But in future if I need to add another type I will have to modify the class and add another list.add(object) call for this one and then it will violate the open-close principle. How should I go about it ?

  • JAVA Gui on Hello World [closed]

    - by user58892
    I am designing, implementing, testing, and debuging a GUI-based version of a “Hello, World!” program in a JFrame that includes a JLabel that reads “Hello, World!” and I am trying to use a layout manager, and an Exit button to close the program. Here's what I have so far, I would really apreciate if you could help on it syntax. I am 90% done but tried hard and it couldn't run. import java.awt.*; // Needed for flow layout manager import javax.swing.*; //All swing components live in the javax.swing package import javax.swing.JButton; //to recognize buttons import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JTextField; public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { //creates the label. The JLabel constructor //takes an optional argument which set the text of the label /* The text will be aligned with the center of the frame * otherwise it will align on the left. */ JLabel label= new JLabel("Hello World!"); new FlowWindow(); label.setHorizontalAlignment (SwingConstants.CENTER); JFrame frame = new JFrame("Hello"); //create exit button JButton button1 = new JButton("Exit"); //Add exit button to the content pane. add(button1); frame.add(label); frame.setSize(300, 300); frame.setVisible(true); frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null); frame.toFront(); } public static void FlowWindow() { //Add a new FlowLayout()); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); } }

  • Algorithm for procedural city generation?

    - by Zove Games
    I am planning on making a (simple) procedural city generator using Java. I need ideas on whan algorithm to use for the layout, and the actual buildings. The city will mostly have skyscrapers, not really much complex stuff. For the layout I already have a simple algorithm implemented: Create a Map with java.awt.Point keys and Integer values. Fill it with all the points in the city's bounds with the value as -1 (unnassigned) Shuffle the map, and assign the 1st 10 of the keys IDs (from 1-10) Loop until all points have IDs: Loop though all points: Assign points next to an assigned point IDs of the point next to them, if 2 or more points border the point, then randomly choose which ID the point will get. You will end up with 10 random regions. Make roads bordering these regions. Fill the inside of each region with a randomly spaced and randomly rotated grid PROBLEM: This is not the fastest way to do it. What algorithm should I use for the layout. And what should I use to make each building's design? I don't even know how I'm going to do that yet (fractals maybe). I just need some ideas, not actual code.

  • JOptionPane opening another JFrame

    - by mike_hornbeck
    So I'm continuing my fight with this : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2923545/creating-java-dialogs/2926126 task. Now my JOptionPane opens new window with envelope overfiew, but I can't change size of this window. Also I wanted to have sender's data in upper left corner, and receiver's data in bottom right. How can I achieve that ? There is also issue with OptionPane itself. After I click 'OK' it opens small window in the upper left corner of the screen. What is this and why it's appearing ? My code: import java.awt.*; import java.awt.Font; import javax.swing.*; public class Main extends JFrame { private static JTextField nameField = new JTextField(20); private static JTextField surnameField = new JTextField(); private static JTextField addr1Field = new JTextField(); private static JTextField addr2Field = new JTextField(); private static JComboBox sizes = new JComboBox(new String[] { "small", "medium", "large", "extra-large" }); public Main(){ JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel(); mainPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(mainPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); getContentPane().add(mainPanel); JPanel addrPanel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(0, 1)); addrPanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createTitledBorder("Receiver")); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Name")); addrPanel.add(nameField); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Surname")); addrPanel.add(surnameField); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Address 1")); addrPanel.add(addr1Field); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Address 2")); addrPanel.add(addr2Field); mainPanel.add(addrPanel); mainPanel.add(new JLabel(" ")); mainPanel.add(sizes); String[] buttons = { "OK", "Cancel"}; int c = JOptionPane.showOptionDialog( null, mainPanel, "My Panel", JOptionPane.DEFAULT_OPTION, JOptionPane.PLAIN_MESSAGE, null, buttons, buttons[0] ); if(c ==0){ new Envelope(nameField.getText(), surnameField.getText(), addr1Field.getText() , addr2Field.getText(), sizes.getSelectedIndex()); } setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); pack(); setVisible(true); } public static void main(String[] args) { new Main(); } } class Envelope extends JFrame { private final int SMALL=0; private final int MEDIUM=1; private final int LARGE=2; private final int XLARGE=3; public Envelope(String n, String s, String a1, String a2, int i){ Container content = getContentPane(); JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel(); mainPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(mainPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("John Doe")); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("FooBar str 14")); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("Newark, 45-99")); JPanel dataPanel = new JPanel(); dataPanel.setFont(new Font("sansserif", Font.PLAIN, 32)); //set size from i mainPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(mainPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); mainPanel.setBackground(Color.ORANGE); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("Mr "+n+" "+s)); mainPanel.add(new JLabel(a1)); mainPanel.add(new JLabel(a2)); content.setSize(450, 600); content.setBackground(Color.ORANGE); content.add(mainPanel, BorderLayout.NORTH); content.add(dataPanel, BorderLayout.SOUTH); setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); pack(); setVisible(true); } }

In here, when the JDialog is called, it just opens as a 100% blank window. I have added a JLabel, but it is not there when it is displaying. Anyway, it takes sometime to send the email, after the email is sent, I can see the JLabel in the JDialog. If I take my issue into one sentence, I am calling the JDialog before the email is sent, but it appears blank, after the email is sent, it's content are there! Why is this? Please help!

This is my code: import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Font; import java.text.DateFormat; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import javax.swing.JButton; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JLabel; import javax.swing.JPanel; public final class Date_Time extends JFrame{ private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private JPanel show_date_time = new JPanel(); private JLabel time = new JLabel("Time:"); private JLabel show_time = new JLabel("Show Time"); DateFormat dateFormat2 = new SimpleDateFormat("h:mm:ss a"); java.util.Date date2; private JLabel label; private JPanel panel; public Date_Time(){ this.setSize(300, 300); this.setResizable(false); getContentPane().add(Show_Time_date()); } private JButton button1 = new JButton(); private JFrame frame1 = new JFrame(); public JPanel Show_Time_date(){ frame1.add(show_date_time); show_date_time.setBackground(Color.ORANGE); frame1.add(button1); getShow_date_time().setLayout(null); Font f; f = new Font("SansSerif", Font.PLAIN, 15); getTime().setBounds(0,250,400,30); getTime().setFont(f); getShow_date_time().add(getTime()); setShow_time(new JLabel("")); updateDateTime(); getShow_time().setBounds(37,250,400,30); getShow_time().setFont(f); getShow_date_time().add(getShow_time()); return getShow_date_time(); } public static void main(String[] args) { Date_Time Main_win=new Date_Time(); Main_win.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); Main_win.setVisible(true); } public void updateDateTime() { Thread th = new Thread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { while(true) { date2 = new java.util.Date(); String dateTime = dateFormat2.format(date2); getShow_time().setText(dateTime); getShow_time().updateUI(); } } }); th.start(); } /** * @return the show_time */ public JLabel getShow_time() { return show_time; } /** * @param show_time the show_time to set */ public void setShow_time(JLabel show_time) { this.show_time = show_time; } /** * @return the time */ public JLabel getTime() { return time; } /** * @param time the time to set */ public void setTime(JLabel time) { this.time = time; } /** * @return the show_date_time */ public JPanel getShow_date_time() { return show_date_time; } /** * @param show_date_time the show_date_time to set */ public void setShow_date_time(JPanel show_date_time) { this.show_date_time = show_date_time; } /** * @return the label1 */ /** * @param label1 the label1 to set */ /** * @return the label */ public JLabel getLabel() { return label; } /** * @param label the label to set */ public void setLabel(JLabel label) { this.label = label; } /** * @return the panel */ public JPanel getPanel() { return panel; } /** * @param panel the panel to set */ public void setPanel(JPanel panel) { this.panel = panel; } }

  • Problems with createImage(int width, int height)

    - by Jonathan
    I have the following code, which is run every 10ms as part of a game: private void gameRender() { if(dbImage == null) { //createImage() returns null if GraphicsEnvironment.isHeadless() //returns true. (java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment) dbImage = createImage(PWIDTH, PHEIGHT); if(dbImage == null) { System.out.println("dbImage is null"); //Error recieved return; } else dbg = dbImage.getGraphics(); } //clear the background dbg.setColor(Color.white); dbg.fillRect(0, 0, PWIDTH, PHEIGHT); //draw game elements... if(gameOver) { gameOverMessage(dbg); } } The problem is that it enters the if statement which checks for the Image being null, even after I attempt to define the image. I looked around, and it seems that createImage() will return null if GraphicsEnvironment.isHeadless() returns true. I don't understand exactly what the isHeadless() method's purpose is, but I thought it might have something to do with the compiler or IDE, so I tried on two, both of which get the same error (Eclipse, and BlueJ). Anyone have any idea what the source of the error is, and how I might fix it? Thanks in advance Jonathan ................................................................... EDIT: I am using java.awt.Component.createImage(int width, int height). The purpose of this method is to ensure the creation of, and edit an Image that will contain the view of the player of the game, that will later be drawn to the screen by means of a JPanel. Here is some more code if this helps at all: public class Sim2D extends JPanel implements Runnable { private static final int PWIDTH = 500; private static final int PHEIGHT = 400; private volatile boolean running = true; private volatile boolean gameOver = false; private Thread animator; //gameRender() private Graphics dbg; private Image dbImage = null; public Sim2D() { setBackground(Color.white); setPreferredSize(new Dimension(PWIDTH, PHEIGHT)); setFocusable(true); requestFocus(); //Sim2D now recieves key events readyForTermination(); addMouseListener( new MouseAdapter() { public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) { testPress(e.getX(), e.getY()); } }); } //end of constructor private void testPress(int x, int y) { if(!gameOver) { gameOver = true; //end game at mousepress } } //end of testPress() private void readyForTermination() { addKeyListener( new KeyAdapter() { public void keyPressed(KeyEvent e) { int keyCode = e.getKeyCode(); if((keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_ESCAPE) || (keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_Q) || (keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_END) || ((keyCode == KeyEvent.VK_C) && e.isControlDown()) ) { running = false; //end process on above list of keypresses } } }); } //end of readyForTermination() public void addNotify() { super.addNotify(); //creates the peer startGame(); //start the thread } //end of addNotify() public void startGame() { if(animator == null || !running) { animator = new Thread(this); animator.start(); } } //end of startGame() //run method for world public void run() { while(running) { long beforeTime, timeDiff, sleepTime; beforeTime = System.nanoTime(); gameUpdate(); //updates objects in game (step event in game) gameRender(); //renders image paintScreen(); //paints rendered image to screen timeDiff = (System.nanoTime() - beforeTime) / 1000000; sleepTime = 10 - timeDiff; if(sleepTime <= 0) //if took longer than 10ms { sleepTime = 5; //sleep a bit anyways } try{ Thread.sleep(sleepTime); //sleep by allotted time (attempts to keep this loop to about 10ms) } catch(InterruptedException ex){} beforeTime = System.nanoTime(); } System.exit(0); } //end of run() private void gameRender() { if(dbImage == null) { dbImage = createImage(PWIDTH, PHEIGHT); if(dbImage == null) { System.out.println("dbImage is null"); return; } else dbg = dbImage.getGraphics(); } //clear the background dbg.setColor(Color.white); dbg.fillRect(0, 0, PWIDTH, PHEIGHT); //draw game elements... if(gameOver) { gameOverMessage(dbg); } } //end of gameRender() } //end of class Sim2D Hope this helps clear things up a bit, Jonathan

  • Using my custom colormap in Java for images

    - by John
    Hi everyone! I've got a question concering a colormapping via index. I tried this code found on http://www.podgoretsky.pri.ee/ftp/Docs/Java/Tricks%20of%20the%20Java%20Programming%20Gurus/ch12.htm // Gradient.java // Imports import java.applet.Applet; import java.awt.; import java.awt.image.; public class Gradient extends Applet { final int colors = 32; final int width = 200; final int height = 200; Image img; public void init() { // Create the color map byte[] rbmap = new byte[colors]; byte[] gmap = new byte[colors]; for (int i = 0; i < colors; i++) gmap[i] = (byte)((i * 255) / (colors - 1)); // Create the color model int bits = (int)Math.ceil(Math.log(colors) / Math.log(2)); IndexColorModel model = new IndexColorModel(bits, colors, rbmap, gmap, rbmap); // Create the pixels int pixels[] = new int[width * height]; int index = 0; for (int y = 0; y < height; y++) for (int x = 0; x < width; x++) pixels[index++] = (x * colors) / width; // Create the image img = createImage(new MemoryImageSource(width, height, model, pixels, 0, width)); } public void paint(Graphics g) { g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, this); } } It worked great but I tried to load a custom image jpeg mapped on my own colormap but it didnt work right. I saw only a bunch of green and blue pixels drawn on a white background. My custom color map method here: public void inintByteArrays() { double[][] c = // basic color map { { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.5625 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.6250 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.6875 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.6875 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.7500 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.8125 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.8750 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.9375 }, { 0.0000, 0.0000, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.0625, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.1250, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.1875, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.2500, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.3125, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.3750, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.4375, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.5000, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.5625, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.6250, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.6875, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.7500, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.8125, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.8750, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 0.9375, 1.0000 }, { 0.0000, 1.0000, 1.0000 }, { 0.0625, 1.0000, 0.9375 }, { 0.1250, 1.0000, 0.8750 }, { 0.1875, 1.0000, 0.8125 }, { 0.2500, 1.0000, 0.7500 }, { 0.3125, 1.0000, 0.6875 }, { 0.3750, 1.0000, 0.6250 }, { 0.4375, 1.0000, 0.5625 }, { 0.5000, 1.0000, 0.5000 }, { 0.5625, 1.0000, 0.4375 }, { 0.6250, 1.0000, 0.3750 }, { 0.6875, 1.0000, 0.3125 }, { 0.7500, 1.0000, 0.2500 }, { 0.8125, 1.0000, 0.1875 }, { 0.8750, 1.0000, 0.1250 }, { 0.9375, 1.0000, 0.0625 }, { 1.0000, 1.0000, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.9375, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.8750, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.8125, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.7500, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.6875, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.6250, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.5625, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.5000, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.4375, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.3750, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.3125, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.2500, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.1875, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.1250, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.0625, 0.0000 }, { 1.0000, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.9375, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.8750, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.8125, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.7500, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.6875, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.6250, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.5625, 0.0000, 0.0000 }, { 0.5000, 0.0000, 0.0000 } }; for (int i = 0; i < c.length; i++) { for (int j = 0; j < c[i].length; j++) { if (j == 0) r[i] = (byte) ((byte) c[i][j]*255); if (j == 1) g[i] = (byte) ((byte) c[i][j]*255); if (j == 2) b[i] = (byte) ((byte) c[i][j]*255); } } My question is how I can use my colormap for any image I want to load and map in the right way. Thank you very much! Greetings, protein1.

  • won't repaint a different Month after pressing button in my calendar

    - by DarkStar123
    I'm trying to build a Calendar in Java as a little project I thought of, But I can't seem to change the name of the Month every time I click the Next button. here's my code! package drawing; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class Drawing_something extends JPanel{ int[] calender_squares = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7}; String[] Month = {"January", "February", "March", "April","May","June","July", "August","September","October","November","December"}; int i = 0; Graphics c; @Override public void paintComponent(Graphics c){ super.paintComponent(c); this.setBackground(Color.WHITE); int WIDTH = 55, HEIGHT = 65; for (int in: calender_squares) { for (int counter = 0; counter < 7; counter++){ c.drawRect(50, 50, 100, 100); c.drawRect(50, 50, 700, 500); c.copyArea(50, 50, 600, 500, 100, 0); c.copyArea(50, 50, 600, 400, 0, 100); } } for (int date = 1; date <= 30; date++) { String s = String.valueOf(date); c.drawString(s, WIDTH, HEIGHT); if (date <= 6){ WIDTH += 100; } else if (date == 7){ WIDTH = 55; HEIGHT = 165; }else if (date <= 13){ WIDTH += 100; }else if (date == 14){ WIDTH = 55; HEIGHT = 265; }else if (date <= 20){ WIDTH += 100; }else if (date == 21){ WIDTH = 55; HEIGHT = 365; }else if (date <= 27){ WIDTH += 100; }else if (date == 28){ WIDTH = 55; HEIGHT = 465; }else if (date <= 30){ WIDTH += 100; } } c.setFont(new Font("default", Font.BOLD, 40)); c.drawString(Month[i], 320, 45); } public Drawing_something(){ setLayout(new BorderLayout()); JButton N = new JButton("NEXT"); JButton B = new JButton("BACK"); JPanel P = new JPanel(); P.add(B); P.add(N); add(P, BorderLayout.SOUTH); B.addActionListener(new HandlerClass()); N.addActionListener(new NextClass()); } public class HandlerClass implements ActionListener{ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){ } } public class NextClass implements ActionListener{ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){ if (i == 11){ i = 0; } i = i + 1; c.drawString(Month[i], 320, 45); } } public static void main(String[] args){ JFrame mainFrame = new JFrame("Calender"); mainFrame.add(new Drawing_something()); mainFrame.setSize(850, 650); mainFrame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); mainFrame.setVisible(true); } } if anyone could help that would be much appreciated!!   • Keeping socket open to send files on timer calls?

    - by user3704768
    I'm writing a program that requires an image to be fetched from a remote server every 10 milliseconds or so, as that's how often the image is updated. My current method calls a timer to grab the image, but it encounters Socket Closed errors all the time, and sometimes does not work at all. How can I fix my methods to keep the socket open the whole time, so no reconnecting is needed? Here is the full class: import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.awt.event.ActionListener; import java.io.File; import java.io.FileInputStream; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.io.FileOutputStream; import java.io.IOException; import java.net.InetAddress; import java.net.InetSocketAddress; import java.net.ServerSocket; import java.net.Socket; import java.net.UnknownHostException; import javax.swing.Timer; public class Connection { public static void createServer() throws IOException { Capture.getScreen(); ServerSocket socket = null; try { socket = new ServerSocket(12345, 0, InetAddress.getByName("127.0.0.1")); } catch (UnknownHostException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } System.out.println("Server started on " + socket.getInetAddress().getHostAddress() + ":" + socket.getLocalPort() + ",\nWaiting for client to connect."); final Socket clientConnection = socket.accept(); System.out.println("Client accepted from " + clientConnection.getInetAddress().getHostAddress() + ", sending file"); ActionListener taskPerformer = new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) { System.out.println("Sending File"); try { pipeStreams(new FileInputStream(new File( "captures/sCap.png")), clientConnection.getOutputStream(), 1024); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } }; System.out.println("closing out connection"); try { clientConnection.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } try { socket.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } Timer timer = new Timer(10, taskPerformer); timer.setRepeats(true); timer.start(); } public static void createClient() throws IOException { System.out.println("Connecting to server."); final Socket socket = new Socket(); try { socket.connect(new InetSocketAddress(InetAddress .getByName("127.0.0.1"), 12345)); } catch (UnknownHostException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { } ActionListener taskPerformer = new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) { System.out.println("Success, retreiving file."); try { pipeStreams(socket.getInputStream(), new FileOutputStream( new File("captures/rCap.png")), 1024); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { } } }; System.out.println("Closing connection"); try { socket.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } Timer timer = new Timer(10, taskPerformer); timer.setRepeats(true); timer.start(); } public static void pipeStreams(java.io.InputStream source, java.io.OutputStream destination, int bufferSize) throws IOException { byte[] buffer = new byte[bufferSize]; int read = 0; while ((read = source.read(buffer)) != -1) { destination.write(buffer, 0, read); } destination.flush(); destination.close(); source.close(); } }

  • How do I copy the layout from a header of a JTabbedPane onto a JPanel?

    - by Snail
    I have created a "CollapsingPanel"class/sort of a JTabbedPane (code skeleton can be found at http://www.coderanch.com/t/341737/Swing-AWT-SWT-JFace/java/Expand-Collapse-Panels). It is in other words a lot of headers which you click on to show a hidden Panel. At the moment these header-panels are a rectangular box with a LineBorder around them. That is ugly! I'm wondering if there is a way to copy the layout that the JTabbedPane uses for its headers/titles (which is inhierted from Look&Feel I assume) and use it on my JPanel-based headers? So that my headers get a smooth look which is in line with the rest of the program (based on Look&Feel!) instead of looking like alien flat blocks. Illustrated below with the headers nicely circled in green ;) I want to apply the header-look from 2nd picture over the red header JPanel in picture 1: Picture 1: hxxp://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2319/34158982.png - change to http, I got <10 rep :( Pictrue 2: hxxp://img46.imageshack.us/img46/2572/jtabpane.png

  • How to change the value of a JLabel in runtime?

    - by user365465
    I want to change the image a JLabel is viewing during runtime, but I keep getting NullPointerExceptions or nothing happens when I press the magic button that's supposed to do things. Is it even possible in Java? Here is my code in its entirety: import java.text.*; import javax.swing.text.*; import java.util.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.event.*; public class Shell implements ActionListener, MenuKeyListener { JFrame frame; JWindow window; JButton PSubmit; JPanel pane1, pane2; JRadioButton R1, R2, R3; ButtonGroup PGroup; JTabbedPane layout; String result; String border = "Border.png"; String DF = "Frame.png"; String list []; Driver driver; public Shell() { driver = new Driver(); list = new String [6]; } public void setFrame() { frame = new JFrame("Pokemon Program 3 by Systems Ready"); frame.setSize(600, 600); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setVisible(true); frame.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout()); } public void frameLayout() { layout = new JTabbedPane(); JPanel pane1 = new JPanel(); JPanel pane2 = new JPanel(); JLabel label = new JLabel("Please choose the restrictions:"); JLabel imgLabel1 = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(border)); JLabel notiLabel1 = new JLabel("The Pokemon chosen with these restrictions are: "); JLabel notiLabel2 = new JLabel("'No Restrictions': No restrictions for the kind of Pokemon chosen based on species or items."); JLabel notiLabel3 = new JLabel("'Battle Revolution': All Pokemon must have unique items."); JLabel notiLabel4 = new JLabel("'Battle Tower': All Pokemon must have unique items, Uber and Event Legendaries banned."); JLabel label2 = new JLabel("Please choose possible Pokemon:"); pane1.add(label); pearlButtons(); pane1.add(R1); pane1.add(R2); pane1.add(R3); pane1.add(PSubmit); pane1.add(notiLabel2); pane1.add(notiLabel3); pane1.add(notiLabel4); pane1.add(imgLabel1); pane1.add(notiLabel1); JLabel pokeLabel1 = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(DF)); JLabel pokeLabel2 = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(DF)); JLabel pokeLabel3 = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(DF)); JLabel pokeLabel4 = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(DF)); JLabel pokeLabel5 = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(DF)); JLabel pokeLabel6 = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(DF)); pane1.add(pokeLabel1); pane1.add(pokeLabel2); pane1.add(pokeLabel3); pane1.add(pokeLabel4); pane1.add(pokeLabel5); pane1.add(pokeLabel6); pane2.add(label2); layout.add("Pearl Version", pane1); layout.add("SoulSilver Version", pane2); frame.add(layout); } public void pearlButtons() { PGroup = new ButtonGroup(); R1 = new JRadioButton("No Restrictions", true); R1.setActionCommand("N"); R1.setVisible(true); R2 = new JRadioButton("Battle Revolution"); R2.setActionCommand("BR"); R2.setVisible(true); R3 = new JRadioButton("Battle Tower"); R3.setActionCommand("B"); R3.setVisible(true); PGroup.add(R1); PGroup.add(R2); PGroup.add(R3); PSubmit = new JButton("Submit"); PSubmit.setActionCommand("pstart"); PSubmit.setVisible(true); PSubmit.addActionListener(this); } public void pearlProcessing() { //The "list" array has a bunch of string names that get .png affixed to them (and I named the image files as such when I name them) String file1 = list[0] + ".png"; String file2 = list[1] + ".png"; String file3 = list[2] + ".png"; String file4 = list[3] + ".png"; String file5 = list[4] + ".png"; String file6 = list[5] + ".png"; /*-------------------------------------------------------------------------------// This is where the method's supposed to go to change the image... I've tried pokeLabel = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(file1));, but that yields a NullPointerException. //-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ } public static void main(String[] args) { Shell test = new Shell(); test.setFrame(); test.frameLayout(); test.frame.setVisible(true); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { if ("pstart".equals(e.getActionCommand())) { result = PGroup.getSelection().getActionCommand(); if (result.equals("N")) { list = driver.Prandom(); pearlProcessing(); } else System.out.println("Not done yet! ;)"); } } public void menuKeyPressed(MenuKeyEvent e) { System.out.println("pressed"); } public void menuKeyReleased(MenuKeyEvent e) { System.out.println("menuKeyReleased"); } public void menuKeyTyped(MenuKeyEvent e) { System.out.println("menuKeyTyped"); } }
