  Flex has the SoundMixer.computeSpectrum function that lets you compute an FFT from the currently playing sound. What I'd like to do is compute an FFT without playing the sound. Since Flash 10.1 lets us access the microphone bytes directly, it seems like I should be able to compute the FFT directly off of what the user is speaking.

  Whenever I add paddingRight to a column in the flex grid, it adds the padding to the header as well. Is anyone familiar with how I can add paddingRight just to the column and not to the header?   I have a Flash applet which I want to embed in a Flex file this loads a panorama file inside a SWF player (Immervision's PurePlayer)- I am using the following code: <mx:SWFLoader id="mapLoader" width="740" height="588" source="../bin-debug/PurePlayer.swf?flashvars='panorama=../bin-debug/untitled.ivp'" /> The applet loads fine but it is does not execute the file... The PurePlayer documentation uses the following var: panorama=myPano.ivp" If I load the same SWF via a browser window it works fine with the following URL: http://localhost/pureplayer/PurePlayer.swf?panorama=untitled.ivp

Isn't this poor design? What does a property called preloader have anything to do with a class for a DownloadProgressBar?

  I have a flex combobox as a datagrid itemrenderer. However, after selecting an item in the combobox, its necessary to click out of the combo (i.e. into another cell or elsewhere in the app) for the value to be committed to the combo. Prior to this, the combo sits 'proud' of the datagrid and the value hasnt actually been committed. Is there a way to force the value to be immediately committed after an item has been selected and for the combo to 'lose focus'?

  actually i got to the cause of the issue. if you feed the textarea text attribute with an tag that has a valid src url, then for some reason flex will try to render everything as html. Eg, try this: <mx:TextArea id="textArea" width="100%" height="90%" text="<img src='http://url-to-a-valid-img"/> and instead of it rendering it as raw text it will render it as an html. any idea?
