    I just installed my fresh Windows 7 and so far are not very happy with it. Much more problems than with Windows Vista. The latest in a series: My Task Scheduler crashes right at the moment when I boot my system. When I check the Event Viewer it tells me that the scheduler crashes with a critical error: EventID: 404 ErrorDescription: RpcServerUseProtseq:ncacn_ip_tcp ResultCode: 1721 I found this entry in TechNet, but there is no "Internet" Key in my registry: "Task Scheduler service has encountered RPC initialization error..."

  • Unrooted G1 stuck on "DREA100 PVT 32B screen" and won't turn off. [closed]

    I've been pretty happy with my G1 thus far, but I turned it on this morning and it gave me a screen showing multicolored bars and the following text: DREA100 PVT 32B HBOOT-0.95.0000 CPLD-4 RADIO-2.22.19.261 Sep 2 2008 Later down it says "Serial0". Please help me, I don't want to wipe my phone and lose my data on it! I haven't rooted it and have no interest in rooting it. I got Cupcake over the wire, not via hacking.

  • MediaWiki on MS Sql Server

    Hello all, I've been doing some digging on running mediawiki on sql server instead of mySQL, but haven't come across any concrete information. All of our servers are running SQL Server so I'd like to stick with that. I've tried Screwturn wiki, which is an ASP.NET wiki implementation using SQL Server, but I'm not terribly happy with the editing interface, and would really like to get MediaWiki up and running. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks!

  • Database cluster... without Master/Slave?

    Hi there! I'm wondering if it is possible to have a set of SQLdb servers to which data is written and have them replicate, avoiding conflicting information. I imagine that a Master/Slave structure would be mandatory, I would like to know if a system where servers have no hierarchy could support replication. Currently I'm using MySQL, but I would be happy to move to another database if needed. Any ideas? :)

    I'm interested in finding a free piece of software for Windows XP & 7 that allows us to measure both incoming and outgoing internet traffic, but not traffic between users of the local network. I live in a shared household with three others, and we're interested to see which of us is using the largest amount of our monthly internet quota. We're all happy to install the necessary software.   • Backup the Windows user folder in the cloud?

    As I understand it, Google Drive and Dropbox, the two cloud storage providers I happen to know, can only sync a predefined folder that is created upon installation. I'd be happy to have an automated synchronisation of my folders in the cloud, but I'm not ready to change my habits, and start saving all my documents in the folder imposed by the provider. Is it possible with one of these, or any other you might know, to sync the full Windows user folder instead?

  • NGiNX + PHP5-fpm + CDN Tools (plugin)

    I am trying to activate the CDN tools plugin and I keep getting the following error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /srv/www/www.triathleteskitchen.com/wp-content/plugins/cdn-tools/cdn_classes/cloudfiles/cloudfiles_http.php on line 252 After extensive research on this issue in which I updated both of the following settings: max_execution_time = 300 memory_limit = 128M and verified the settings are active by setting up a dump phpinfo() page. Still no luck /cry I am curious if any php geeks better than me have any ideas or can point me in the right direction. Happy Holidays to you and your families :)

  • Cloud hosting for windows domain controller, possible?

    We currently host our own domain controller (small company) locally on dedicated h/w. However to mitigate disaster recovery we're considering the use of virtualisation and cloud hosting. One thought is Virtual primary domain controller hosted in the cloud + a local (secondary) virtualised server running in the office as a cache? Is this possible or should I consider something else? We're happy to pay for the decent hosting and DR but this is really out of my experience.

We have identified one problem, and that is reading/writing performance. We have an application that compiles files and writes to disk. This is considerably slower on the new virtual machines compared to the physical machines. Is there a performance bottleneck when writing to a virtual hard drive compared to a physical hard drive?

    Can you assign a keyboard shortcut to the commands you've placed in OneNote 2010's "Quick Access Toolbar"? CTRL+1, CTRL+2 or something.. What I really want to do is have a keyboard shortcut to select Pen #1, Pen #2 etc, but since I placed the pens in the "Quick Access Toolbar" I'd be happy if I could type a keyboard shortcut to access those.   • How do I detect if uTorrent is downloading?

    I need to write a script that determines whether or not uTorrent is currently downloading something. I'd rather it just be downloading, but if I cannot differentiate between downloading and uploading then it would be better than nothing. One possible way would be check the whether any files ending in .!ut are locked - but I'm hoping for something a little more elegant. My weapon of choice is VBScript but I'm happy to use the command line if needs be.

I would love to hear the success stories from other people who have managed to install Mac OS X successfully on other brands and models of netbooks.   • STARTTLS issues with sendmail

    I just switch hosts and now have to configure sendmail with certificates in order to send mail. Is there anyone here that can point me to some solid documentation that is known to work? I'm on CentOS, using sendmail 8.13. I am currently trying to figure out why I am getting "Relaying denied. Proper authentication required". I'd be happy to post my mc file if someone thinks thay can help..

  • Live overclocking on Windows

    I saw this question and just had to ask. How can I do this on my own PC, where do I find this software if it exists for your computer and what can I do? I never considered overclocking before because I know myself and I know I'd mess up my hardware in some stupid accident or mistake, but if I can just do it through software it'd be nice to give it a shot.     Hello, I'm looking for a software similiar to Windows Desktop Search or Google Desktop, that can also display results from our Intranet search engine in the same manner it displays regular results (files/emails/etc.). So far I managed to add Intranet search capabilities to Windows Desktop Search, but it doesn't show the results in the programs UI, but requires the user to press a "Search Intranet" button that opens the browser. Would be happy to hear any suggestions. Thank you.

  • Save a shortcut to a samba share in KDE

    Using Dolphin in KDE I have opened a particular (password protected) samba share, by typing in the IP address and navigating to the right folder. However I can't find any way to save this location for future use (other than saving the URL to a text file and copy-pasting it into Dolphin). I would be happy with some kind of bookmark in Dolphin or a desktop shortcut, etc.

I'm quite happy with Thunderbird, but I hate to have to manually mark as read articles I've read at home when I'm at work and vice versa.
