    JAX-RS 2.0 Early Draft Third Edition is now available. This updated draft include new samples explaining the features and clarifications in content-negotiation, discovery of providers, client-side API, filters and entity interceptors and several other sections. Provide feedback to users@jax-rs-spec. Jersey 2.0, the Reference Implementation of JAX-RS 2.0, released their fourth milestone a few days ago as well. Several features have already been implemented there. Note, this is an early development preview and several parts of the API and implementation are still evolving. Feel like trying it out? Simply go to Maven Central (of course none of this is production quality at this point). The latest JAX-RS Javadocs and Jersey 2.0 API docs are good starting points to explore.   • Best partition scheme [WIN7 | Ubuntu | Media | Home]

    I just got a new HD (750GB of which 700GB are usable) and I want to partition it taking in consideration: Media (200GB) Home (300GB) Win7(150GB) Ubuntu(50GB) (I have 6GB of ram, would i need to consider a swap partition) The Media and Home partitions usually are left untouched, but once a month (or in some cases more) I will be formatting Win7 and/or Ubuntu, changing their sizes and even creating a third partition for a second ubuntu/win7 instance (using the 200GB originally assigned for them) What would be a good/best partition scheme to avoid problems in the Media and Home partition (And the hard-drive in general), considering they are highly unlikely to change and that also the Win7 partition is the less unlikely to be changing in relation to the ubuntu partition? I hope I'm clear enough and if any more details are missing please let me know. Thank you in advance.

    I have installed Oracle 10g Express edition in Ubuntu 10.10 and it doesn't show or ask to give my password during installation. When I click on "start database" it gave the warning "Operation failed, abhi is not a member of 'dba' group." and when clink on "Run SQL command line" it shows /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/nls_lang.sh: 114: [[: not found When I click on "GOTO Database home page", it opens Mozilla's "Ubuntu Google search page". Can anyone help me get my Oracle to work or tell me how to remove that because it is also not getting removed. I tried all the commands that are given as suggestions by Ubuntu. Please help me because I don't want to format my Ubuntu.

  • Issues with web hosting at home

    I want to host a small personal website at home. One basic problem I am hitting is, From inside home network, I cannot access my domain name. I have to use the local ip (something like 192.168.1.4) to access the website. This ip is the desktop which is hosting the website. Because of this mapping, I have issues setting up a simple wordpress blog on it too. How do I get past this issue? edit:0 when I try to access www.example.com (my domain) from within my home network, I get redirected to my router login. PS: 1) I am using dyndns service to map my non-static ip to my domain name. 2) My portforwarding works fine.

  • Best solution for a team home server

    I created a home server with Ubuntu 12.04 Server (using an old Netbook with an Atom CPU and 512Mb). The idea is just to be used for a small team (maximum 10 persons) that will have constant access by SSH to the main projects and could add features with Git, and will, as well, have their own directory (with VirtualHost configured) for their own personal projects. Everything is configured and running, but my question is : What is the best solution here for everyone to work? It is to have them on the http group and then all have access as normal users to the /var/www folder (that also contains GitWeb and Drupal), or would be to create a new user named after the project (as an example) where only those with the password could have access to work (configured with VirtualHost). Notice: The idea is to have 1 person responsible of the server directly (since he is the one who is hosting it), 2 more people that will have access to the root from their home in order to configure anything from their home, plus anyone else that joins the group without any root access, but just the necessary access to create personal works and work with Git.

    I found some time over the holidays to finalize the Azure edition of IdentityServer. http://identityserver.codeplex.com/releases/view/81206 The biggest difference to the on-premise version (and earlier Azure betas) is, that by default IdSrv now uses Azure Storage for all data storage (configuration & user data). This means that there is no need anymore for SQL Azure (which is still supported out of the box – just not the default anymore). The download includes a readme file with setup instructions. In a nutshell: Create a new hosted service and upload your certificates Modify the service configuration file in the download to your needs (signing cert, connection strings to storage…) Deploy the package via the portal or other tools Use the new Powershell scripts to add users If you encounter any problem, please give me feedback.

    I have 32 bit 14.04 installed as the only OS on a older Toshiba Laptop. Unfortunately, when I installed it I did not set up a \home partition, which I had intended to do. What I want to do is to set up a \home partition and to transfer the files in my current \home directory to it. I have a 14.04 Live CD, so I could reinstall 14.04. I also have GParted on a Live CD. If I use GParted, I need precise instructions about how to proceed. I have plenty of disk space (200 GB) for either alternative and know how to decide space allocation for Linux partitions.   • Does home directory encryption depend on gnome keyring?

    My gnome-keyring has somehow gotten messed up. It prompts for a password (that I know I never provided - yes I chose 'unsafe storage'). None of the possible passwords that I use (including empty) are working. So basically I want to delete the default key so I can start over. I just want to confirm that this isn't somehow tied to my home directory encryption. I want to be sure that if I delete the default key from it, I will still be able to log in normally and decrypt my home directory. It seems likely that they're unrelated as the keyring is within the home directory and is thus itself encrypted, but I just thought I'd ask. Anyone have any thoughts?

    I recently asked a question about upgrading from 2003 to 2008, but i realised this is a lot harder to do, the only reason i want to upgrade is to have increase the RAM Windows 2003 Standard Edition R2 only supports 4GB Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition R2 supports up to 32GB Windows 2003 Datacentre Edition R2 supports up to 64GB So basically i need to do an in-place upgrade to either Enterpirse or Datacentre without losing any data is this possible? Also is one easier to upgrade to then the other?

    We need a new install of windows server and sql server to replicate a couple of databases to a geographically separate location from an existing application (over a site-to-site VPN). The source database is SQL Server 2005. However, this is a temporary solution since the client is aiming to implement a different system entirely, so we are looking to find the minimum specification of both windows server and sql server to do this. We are finding the SQL server features per edition and licensing a little difficult to understand, hence the question. Am I correct in thinking that we can replicate data using transactional replication from SQL Server 2005 to 2008 web edition and we can install sql server web edition on windows 2008 web edition also?     hey all, first question... we have around 30 servers in an Active Directory environment with 600 student computers and 100 staff desktops with XP SP2/3, the win server 2003 has the staff home drives on a NAS and in the last few days after some server updates is now mapping home drives to the \servername\home instead of \severname\home\%username%, its simple to re map the network drive but is annoying. we dont use login script to map home drive but use a VB script for other network drives and if we add the home drive mapping to that it works, but shouldnt the profile option in users AD account map that correctly? which do you all recommend, AD profile mapping or VB Script mapping Home drives? thanks Steven

    I've previously published advice on the general priorities for applying EBS updates.  But what are your top priorities for major upgrades to EBS and its technology stack components? Here is a summary of our latest upgrade recommendations for E-Business Suite updates and technology stack components.  These quarterly recommendations are based upon the latest updates to Oracle's product strategies, support deadlines, and newly-certified releases.  Upgrade Recommendations for October 2012 EBS 11i users should upgrade to 12.1.3, or -- if staying on 11i -- should be on the minimum 11i patching baseline, EBS 12.0 users should upgrade to 12.1.3, or -- if staying on 12.0 -- should be on the minimum 12.0 patching baseline, EBS 12.1 users should upgrade to 12.1.3. Oracle Database 10gR2 and 11gR1 users should upgrade to 11gR2 11.2.0.3. EBS 12 users of Oracle Single Sign-On 10g users should migrate to Oracle Access Manager 11g 11.1.1.5. EBS 11i users of  Oracle Single Sign-On 10g users should migrate to Oracle Access Manager 10g 10.1.4.3. Oracle Internet Directory 10g users should upgrade to Oracle Internet Directory 11g 11.1.1.6.   • Compiling IcedTea: JDK home directory could not be found

    Google Chrome keeps telling me that I need to update icedtea, I tried installing them from terminal, didn't work so I'm installing icedtea and icedtea-web from source, when I do ./configure it tells me that fastjar isn't installed so I installed it, then it tells me that gawk isn't installed and I installed it and now it says: checking for a JDK home directory... configure: error: "A JDK JDK home directory could not be found. I have openjdk7 installed, how to fix it?
