• Eclipse Basic Web Development?

  I want to start doing web development with Eclipse. Not Java, tomcat, axis2, or anything else anymore complicated than basic XHTML / JS / CSS development, at this time. Problem 1: I realize that it can edit those files, but its trying to manage my HTML docs as part of "my workspace", and all I want it to do is manage the files as part of my local www server HTdocs directory. Problem 2: I would like to edit WYSIWYG-style, if possible. I tried installing a plug-in for that, but I wasn't able to get w4 toolkit to function properly. This would really help me to speed up development, I think. Follow-up: I've installed WTP and its dependencies (except for the tests portion, which had install problems due to dependencies that were seemingly irreconcilable).

• MeioUpload and phpThumb() does not exist error

  I am currently using CakePHP v2.2.1 and MeioUpload 4.0 along with phpThumb() to try and generate image uploads and thumbnails for those images. If i set my $actAs = array() without the thumbsizes property everything is uploaded well, but when I add the following: 'thumbsizes' => array( 'small' => array('width' => 165, 'height' => 115), 'medium' => array('width' => 800, 'height' => 600) ), to generate thumbnails I get an error stating the following: "E:/xampp/htdocs/site/vendors/phpthumb/img/posts/image-name.jpg" does not exist I have tried several different methods of fixing this from around the web and nothing seems to work. I am new to cakephp so this may be an easy fix and I am just not connecting the dots to find the solution. Any help would be very much appreciated.

  I have a site that physically has this directory structure. -public_html --conf > contains file conf.php -SiteFiles -LiveSite > contains file ConfLive.php Directory public_html/conf/ contains a file called conf.php this file contains the following include include_once('/home/mydir/SiteFiles/LiveSite/conf/ConfLive.iphp'); I want to copy this application to test PC to test it. Test PC uses XAMPP Apache. "Root" directory on the test machine is: C:\xampp\htdocs\ My questions: 1. Where is logical path "/home/mydir/" defined? 2. What steps should I take to get this to work on my test machine preferably by server configuration and not changing application. Thanks.   I am using Apache 2.2 and mod_rewrite. I would like to take the following urls and map them to another url. The pattern is simple and like this: http://domain/test/ex1.html - http://domain/app/index.php/content/?name=ex1 I tried the following in an .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /app/ RewriteRule (.*)\.html index.php/content/?name=$1 and RewriteEngine On RewriteRule (.*)\.html /app/index.php/content/?name=$1 I wasn't sure if the backreference was correct so set to $0 and $2 but never seemed to help. I also tried setting the RewriteLogLevel to 9. There is a step where it is almost there: rewrite 'ex1.html' - 'index.php/content/?name=ex1' The last line of the rewrite log is as follows: [perdir /var/www/domain/htdocs/test/] internal redirect with /app/index.php/content/ [INTERNAL REDIRECT] How can I get this to rewrite to /app/index.php/content/?name=ex1 ? thanks

• How to organise a php based website

  I am putting my php /mysql website up and this is my scenario The users are grouped into sites each site with their own unique database. There will be about 40 users per site. the two options I'm trying to decide between are have a central website running the php and directing the users off to their own database using sub domains for each user each with their own php in htdocs I dont even know if 2 is possible/stupid but if it was, would it make any difference to performance as they're all being run by the same server. Any other ideas/ advice much appreciated as I want to organise it the best way from the start

If I set the docroot to the default htdocs directory, everything works fine. (note..   Hi, I'm trying to install CakePHP on my Windows XP machine running Apache 2.2. I have installed the Cake folder in my doc root. I've read the installation instructions that say to include this line in the httpd.conf file; <Directory /path/to/cake> Does anyone know how to translate that into Windows? I currently have the following in my conf file: <Directory "C:/Apache/Apache2.2/htdocs/cakeapp/"> Whenever I uncomment this line it crashes Apache. I've tried switching the slashes to "\" and I tried taking the slash off the end. Any advice? Thanks

  file_get_contents() is returning "failed to open stream" when I call it on an HTTPS URL. Warning: file_get_contents(https://google.com) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No error in E:\\htdocs\callback3.php on line 5 Same call will work with a non-SSL URL. At first, I thought it was a security issue with my webhoster, but I have verified with phpinfo() that allow url open is indeed allowed. I have also tried this code and verified it works: Anyone have any ideas why file_get_contents() is failing with an HTTPS URL? update: People correctly pointed out this was an HTTPS issue. My webhoster claims this should work, and has no idea how to resolve this. Anyone have specific directions I can give them for their IIS7 setup?
