  • IE6 Bug - Div within Anchor tag: inline images not links

    I'm trying to get everything in the anchor tag to be a clickable link. Unfortunately, in IE6 (which is the only browser I'm concerned with currently), the only thing that isn't a clickable link are the inline images. I know that it's not valid html to put a div inside of an anchor but it's not my markup and I've been asked to avoid changing it. Any suggestions to altering the CSS to enable the images as clickable links? If changing the markup is the only solution... any suggestions there? My initial thought was to set the image as a background of it's parent (.ph-item-featured-img), although I'm unclear if that will solve the problem.     I have a class that extends the HtmlHelper in MVC and allows me to use the builder pattern to construct special output e.g. <%= Html.FieldBuilder<MyModel>(builder => { builder.Field(model => model.PropertyOne); builder.Field(model => model.PropertyTwo); builder.Field(model => model.PropertyThree); }) %> Which outputs some application specific HTML, lets just say, <ul> <li>PropertyOne: 12</li> <li>PropertyTwo: Test</li> <li>PropertyThree: true</li> </ul> What I would like to do, however, is add a new builder methid for defining some inline HTML without having to store is as a string. E.g.   • Is inline SQL still classed as bad practice now that we have Micro ORMs?

    This is a bit of an open ended question but I wanted some opinions, as I grew up in a world where inline SQL scripts were the norm, then we were all made very aware of SQL injection based issues, and how fragile the sql was when doing string manipulations all over the place. Then came the dawn of the ORM where you were explaining the query to the ORM and letting it generate its own SQL, which in a lot of cases was not optimal but was safe and easy. Another good thing about ORMs or database abstraction layers were that the SQL was generated with its database engine in mind, so I could use Hibernate/Nhibernate with MSSQL, MYSQL and my code never changed it was just a configuration detail. Now fast forward to current day, where Micro ORMs seem to be winning over more developers I was wondering why we have seemingly taken a U-Turn on the whole in-line sql subject. I must admit I do like the idea of no ORM config files and being able to write my query in a more optimal manner but it feels like I am opening myself back up to the old vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and I am also tying myself to one database engine so if I want my software to support multiple database engines I would need to do some more string hackery which seems to then start to make code unreadable and more fragile. (Just before someone mentions it I know you can use parameter based arguments with most micro orms which offers protection in most cases from sql injection) So what are peoples opinions on this sort of thing? I am using Dapper as my Micro ORM in this instance and NHibernate as my regular ORM in this scenario, however most in each field are quite similar. What I term as inline sql is SQL strings within source code. There used to be design debates over SQL strings in source code detracting from the fundamental intent of the logic, which is why statically typed linq style queries became so popular its still just 1 language, but with lets say C# and Sql in one page you have 2 languages intermingled in your raw source code now. Just to clarify, the SQL injection is just one of the known issues with using sql strings, I already mention you can stop this from happening with parameter based queries, however I highlight other issues with having SQL queries ingrained in your source code, such as the lack of DB Vendor abstraction as well as losing any level of compile time error capturing on string based queries, these are all issues which we managed to side step with the dawn of ORMs with their higher level querying functionality, such as HQL or LINQ etc (not all of the issues but most of them). So I am less focused on the individual highlighted issues and more the bigger picture of is it now becoming more acceptable to have SQL strings directly in your source code again, as most Micro ORMs use this mechanism.     I'm trying to programmatically add a new TreeNode to a TreeGrid, and then turn on editing for the newly added node. This is my data source: DataSource ds = new DataSource(); DataSourceTextField idField = new DataSourceTextField("key", "Id"); DataSourceTextField nameField = new DataSourceTextField("name", "Name"); DataSourceTextField keyField = new DataSourceTextField("id", "Key"); keyField.setPrimaryKey(true); ds.setFields(idField, keyField, nameField); ds.setClientOnly(true); My fields: TreeGridField name = new TreeGridField("name", "Name"); TreeGridField id = new TreeGridField("id", "Id"); TreeGridField key = new TreeGridField("key", "Key"); key.setHidden(true); id.setHidden(true); And my code for adding a new record: TreeNode parent = (TreeNode) treeGrid.getSelectedRecord(); if (parent == null) parent = treeGrid.getData().getRoot(); Tree data = treeGrid.getData(); node = data.add(node, parent); Now, how on earth do I switch on editing for the added node? I've tried startEditing(), but that defaults to the first node, and I don't see any way of obtaining the row number for the newly added node, which would allow me to use startEditing(rowNum, colNum, suppressFocus). Using startEditNew() is not an option for many reasons, mainly because that method adds the new node to the bottom of the tree, which doesn't work at all with my app. How do I do this? Grateful for any help you guys can give me.

    Ok, I have my custom class: public class FileItem : INotifyPropertyChanged { int id=0; string value=""; public int Id { get { return id; } set { id = value; Changed("Id"); } } public string Value { get { return value; } set { this.value = value; Changed("Value"); } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; void Changed(string name) { if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(name)); } } public BindingList<FileItem> FilesystemEntries = new BindingList<FileItem>(); And I have DatagridView1 with DataSource set to FilesystemEntries: binding.DataSource = FilesystemEntries; Already I can Add and remove rows - these chnages are reflected on collection. However, Value and Id are not saved into bidning list when i change them in DataGridView, id is always 0 and value is "". How can I make this work? Do I need to implement some interface to FileItem to allow editing properties? ReadOnly of DGV is set to false, same to all columns. Editing, Deleting and Changing are enabled.

  • MS Office Excel Ribbon - Cannot change/hide Editing group in Home tab

    I have a .net addin for Excel. The addin creates the Ribbon UI for Excel 2007 and re-purposes some existing commands such as Cut, Copy, Paste, Sort etc. For Cut, Copy and Paste I am just overriding their OnAction value to call my own procedure when the buttons are clicked. But for Sort, Sort Asc and Sort Desc commands the case is a little different. When either of the Sort, Sort Asc or Sort Desc buttons are clicked, I want to get notified and then call the default functionality. This was possible in Excel 2003 commandsbars by calling the Execute() method on the CommandBarControl. In Excel 2007, there is a ExecuteMso() method to programmatically click a ribbon element but when the OnAction is overridden, this ExecuteMso() method just executes my own procedure and not the default functionality of that button. So I thought that I will HIDE the Sort buttons in the "Editing" group in Home tab and add my own Sort, Sort Asc and Sort Desc buttons to it. The buttons will call into my procedure first from where I will call the default behavior. Now the problem is that I am unable to change/hide the Editing group (idMso="GroupEditing"). Is this built-in group not editable?   • Reload a UITable on the fly when editing a UITextField inside one of the cells

    I have a UITable containing some customs UITableCells. Those cells contain a few UILabels and a UITextField. The datasource of the table comes from a main controller's property. (This controller is also the delegate and the dataSource for the table). Here's a simplified screenshot of the UI: Now, I need to update "on the fly" the content of all the UILabels when the user edits one of the UITextFields. To do so, at the I am listening to the "Editing Changed" event at the UITextField level. This triggers the following action: - (IBAction) editChangeHandler: (id) sender { MyAppDelegate *delegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [[delegate.viewController.myDataSourceArray objectAtIndex:self.rowIndex] setANumber: [theTextField.text intValue]]; [delegate.viewController reloadRows]; } The reloadRows method in the viewController is as such: - (void) reloadRows { NSLog(@"called reloadRows"); //perform some calculations on the data source objects here... [theUITable reloadData]; } My problem here is that whenever the user changes the value in the field, the reloadRows method is successfully called, so is apparently the reloadData but it also causes the keyboard to be dismissed. So in the end, the user can only touch one key when editing the TextField before the keyboard is dismissed and the table reloaded. Does anybody knows a solution to this or have experienced the same issue?

  • Editing true type fonts

    In typical Persian fonts which are True Type, there is a historical problem with yeh and kafs. These fonts are created for Windows 98, which didn't include full Persian support, and now, we have 2 kind of Kafs: Keheh(0x6a9, ?), and Arabic Kaf(0x643, ?), and 2 kind of Yehs: Farsi Yeh(0x6cc, ?), and Arabic Yeh(0x64a, ?). Old fonts use Arabic ones, but the standard keyboard for Persian uses the Persian ones of course. Is it possible to edit and fix these fonts? I've made many attempts to replace these characters with FontLab Studio, which I failed. Any suggestions?

  • Creating/Editing Existing Documents

    A document was shared with me, enabling me to edit it. However, whenever I open it, it only lets me view it, and anytime I try to open the "Open with Google Docs" tab, it acts as if I never pressed it, same as if I try to download it. Same with whenever I try to create a new document. I'll click "Create" and then "Document" and it won't be registered. I really need these issues fixed pronto, as I have to use this software every day. Please help!!

  • XenServer: Editing clone configuration before boot

    Upon cloning a base image, I need to reconfigure basic settings. Regenerating the ssh host key, changing static IP assignments, setting the host name, etc. Because of the network setup, DHCP is not an option. That more or less rules out SSHing in with a predefined key or running a startup script since I can't provide the IP externally. I'd most like to mount the filesystem of the new machine on Dom0, but the lvm volumes are exported and it appears to be Bad Form to import them so the Dom0 machine can see them. What's your best suggestion for altering files in a cloned VM before boot? Must be non-interactive, and I'm going to guess out the gate that scripting access via xe console is not going to work well.

  • Need to store and backup HD vid files. But need to access them alot.

    I've had my 700 Gb HDD ever since I bought my computer so partitioning it is out of the question. What I need is a place to keep my HD vid files so when I edit, I don't get a long load time in the editing software. But I also need to keep a back-up of all my other important files which I haven't been doing. Should I buy an additional internal drive JUST for vid files and buy an external for backup of all my files? What are my best options?

  • Editing tags in bunch of MP3 files?

    I have a bunch of files whose filename looks like "<Track> - <Title> - <Artist>.mp3". I'd like to rewrite their MP3 Title tag to be "<Track> - <Title>.mp3" so that each song is displayed correctly on my elcheapo MP3 player. Since I rarely edit MP3 files anyway, MP3 Tag Tools 1.2 Build 008 from 2003 was good enough, but I can't figure out how to do this with this application. I just tried MP3Tag 2.46, but couldn't figure out if it can do this (created a new Action, to no avail). I also tried TagScanner 5.1.558, without success. Does someone know of a good, free Windows application that can do this? Thank you.

  • File association for editing on a mac

    I'm quite experienced with how file association works for opening files on Mac OS X. I recall reading somewhere that OS X keeps not only the information about which apps can open a file, but also which apps can edit a specific file type. I'm having problems with those applications (Coda, Espresso, Forklift, Flow) that have an “edit with external editor” feature, since issuing this command on HTML files opens them with Dashcode. Dashcode of course is not the current association for opening these files (Safari is), so it's clearly looking for apps that can edit HTML. Since I'd like to use TextMate as my editor in these cases, how can I set this preference?

  • Extract segments from FLV file?

    Hello I'm no expert with editing videos, and I need to rip a few segments from an FLV file, and then upload some of them to YouTube. I don't know if I need to convert FLV to AVI for YouTube to accept them. I've taken a look at VirtualDub + the FLV plug-in but the video isn't displayed correctly. I also tried AviDemux, but I couldn't find how to extract a segment after setting the A/Start and B/End points. Does someone know of a good solution to do this on Windows? Thank you.

    How do I get the Google Calendar embed to look like it does when I'm actually inputting events into it? In the attached picture are two version of the Google Calendar agenda. On the left is the one you see when you are managing your calendar: adding events, etc. This is the preferred view. On the right is what happens when you try to embed the agenda on any webpage. Is there a way to get the embed to look like the cleaner version? (The left one?)

  • Editing sudoers file to restrict a user's commands

    Is it possible to edit the sudoers file so a user can use sudo for any command except for a specified one? I reverse is true, I believe, that the sudoers file can be setup so that a user can only execute a given list of commands. EDIT: the commands I really want to take away are halt and reboot... this makes me think there are special system calls for halt and reboot. Can you take system calls away from a user? If not, is it because the unix permission system abstracts over system calls neglecting this?

  • What is a good alternative to Camtasia Studio (screen recording not required)?

    I'm looking for a good alternative to Camtasia Studio - really just the video editing part. My current workflow looks like this: Record audio (with Audacity) Save screenshots of the subject matter (websites) Import audio and screenshots into Camtasia Use the zoom and callout tools in Camtasia to go along with the spoken audio and highlight certain parts of the sites Given that Camtasia costs $300 (I've been using a trial version), I'd like to find something else that can do this well. I suspect that a lot of the pricetag for Camtasia is because of the screencasting features. I've tried Sony Vegas Movie Studio, but it was really a lot more than I need. I'd like something relatively simple (so that new users can pick it up relatively quickly), with the zoom and callout functionality that Camtasia has. Any suggestions? Edit for clarity: I'm looking for a program that will let me combine the screenshots and audio, and (most importantly) that has features equal to or better than Camtasia for text overlays, highlighting areas on the screen, etc.

  • Trouble editing ~/.bash_profile: -bash: $'\r': command not found

    I installed CygWin on Windows 7. Using Notepad, I edited my ~/.bash_profile file to add on to the PATH variable … PATH="${PATH}:/cygdrive/c/apache-ant-1.8.2/bin" Now, when I SSH in to my Windows machine, I get this error … -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: $'\r': command not found -bash: /home/dev/.bash_profile: line 39: syntax error: unexpected end of file and my PATH is not set. Anyone know how I can correct this?

  • Paint.NET equivalent for Linux?

    On Windows, my favorite image editor is Paint.NET. However, on Linux, GIMP is as unfriendly as photoshop despite having less features. (i.e. It takes ages to load, their's far too much stuff). Most of my image editing is simple things where Photoshop or GIMP would be overkill. Paint.NET does not run on Wine or Mono. So is there any similar fast and simple but powerful image editor available for Linux? EDIT: There is a Mono version available, but I don't want to have to deal with installing svn versions of mono, and compiling the version myself.

  • Video/Animated GIF advanced frame editor?

    What sort of application could I use for example if I had a 5 minute video or an animated GIF with 50 frames, and I wanted to basically Photoshop replace an object, say a person's head, with another image for all those 50 frames? Is there some sort of smart tool that can do this or do I have to edit every single frame by hand? I wouldn't mind there being a tool where I can paste the image in every frame automatically, and switch from frame to frame adjusting the position of it, I just need something efficient. I've tried using Photoshop's import video into image sequence and tried editing with the animation toolbar at the bottom, but it's not quite what I want. I don't care if it's free software or not, I'm primarily using Linux but I have VirtualBox Windows XP if there's an excellent application that's not available otherwise.

    Sharepoint sends out an automated email when a site collection has reached its quota warning level. The email says: You are receiving this e-mail message because you are an administrator of the following SharePoint Web site, which has exceeded the warning level for storage: https://mysite.xxx.ac.uk/personal/xxx/. To see how much storage is being taken up by this site, go to the View site collection usage summary: https://mysite.xxx.ac.uk/personal/xxx/_layouts/Usage.aspx. The problem is that the usage summary link needs to point somewhere else instead. How can I edit the body of the email to change the link? Thanks.
