  I have an ftp client (.NET app I don't have the source to) that only does active mode that needs to push data to an appliances ftp-server that only speaks passive. There is nothing I can do to modify the software on either end; but everything in between is fair game. (routing, windows or linux software, firewall tricks, ...) Is there some kind of ftp proxy software? Or some kind of solution I could try?

  I assumed that solid state drives are insignificant after, say, Firefox is fully brought up and no important disk activity after that is going on. However, I wonder if some kind of 'cached from the disk to the CPU' activity is going on that may make solid state drives (or any faster drive) better. Then again, I suspect that may be depended only on the Bus (or some kind of cache memory drives have). Hrm..

  I'm doing a bit of Powershell scripting ( for the first time ) to look at some stuff in a Sharepoint site and what I would like to be able to do is to go through a list of properties of an object and just output their values in a "property-name = value" kind of format. Now I can find the list of elements using this: $myObject | get-member -membertype property Which will return a list of all the properties in a very clear and readable fashion. But what I need is to find a value for those properties. In some scripting languages I could have a kind of eval( "$myObject.$propertyName" ) call - where I have extracted $propertyName from the get-member output - and have it evaluate the string as code, which for the kind of quick-and-dirty solution I need would be fine. Does this exist in Powershell or is there a more convenient way to do it? Should I be using reflection instead?

  How do I detect what color is under the InfoButton... so I can change the button from DARK to LIGHT? I set my view's color... but how do I tell if it's "kind of light" or "kind of dark"? Besides... I can't change the info-button from light to dark anyway. (read only) Ugh. Shouldn't Apple have some kind of a simple "cmdButton.doThisExtremelyCommonThingForMe = TRUE" statement? InfoButtons are useless if you can't even see them. (Or how would I put an image behind the button to make it stand-out more?)

  Hi, I want to create some kind of AJAX script or call that continuously will check a MySQL database if any new messages has arrived. When there is a new message in the database, the AJAX script should invoke a kind of alert box or message box. I’m not quite a AJAX expert (yet anyway) and have Googled around to find a solution but I’m having a hard time to figure out where to begin. I imagine that it is kind of the same method that an AJAX chat is using to see if any new chat-message has been send. I’ve also tried to search for AJAX (httpxmlrequest) call in a continuously and infinity loop but still haven’t got a solution yet.   Hi guys, I'm considering Wordpress as my CMS platform for a client site I'm doing at the moment. However, I need to create a couple of custom 'modules'. One of these modules is a form that people will be able to complete and have a quote, and once submitted, in a special place in the Wordpress panel (like a menu or something), there will be a listing of all the submitted quotes (just fetching it from a table in my database). Another one is to manage a cafeteria menu, so the client can add a different meal to each day of the week. I know perfectly how to do this kind of things using some kind of MVC framework and doing it 'by-hand', but I'm just wondering if this would be possible to do with WP and if yes, what kind of tools I'll have to use. • Using java to send/receive different objects through UDP

  Hello everyone, I am writing a program in Java where there are communications between two or more machines using UDP. My application sends objects after serializing them through the network to the other machine where it will be deserialized and dealt with it. I was successful in sending one kind of objects so far. My problem is that I want the sender to be able to send different kind of objects, and for the receiver to be able to receive them and cast them again to their appropriate types. However, since UDP allocates a byte buffer then receive the data into the buffer, it is impossible to cast or detect the type of the received object as different objects have different sizes. Is there is a way that I can use to send different kind of objects using UDP and then receive them at the other end? (I don't ask for code here, just some ideas) Thanks
