  • Persistence problem when installing USB Ubuntu variant using Windows

    I'm part of a project called One2One2Go - we're developing a Live USB Ubuntu variant for use in schools in Somerville, MA. We have the project files compiled into an iso, and when installed using the native Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator, the USB works fine. When installed using a tool on a Windows machine (LiLi at linuxliveusb.com or liveusb-creator at fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator), the USB works, but does not have persistence. This happens even if the creator is specifically set to allocate an area for persistent files. When comparing files on sticks created in Windows or Ubuntu, the one file that is different is syslinux/syslinux.cfg. I think the problem is that on the stick created by Windows, there is no "persistent" flag, but I don't know why. Is this a problem with our disk image or with the creator? Also: The itemLabel is picking up a column in the DB called "CollectionHomePage" which is True/False bit data type. I must be missing something simple... Thanks for your ideas.

  • ASP.Net repeater item.DataItem is null

    Within a webpage, upon loading, I fill a dataset with two table with a relation between those tables and then load the data into a repeater with a nested repeater. This can also occur after the user clicks on a button. The data gets loaded from a SQL database and the repeater datasource is set to the dataset after a postback. However, when ItemDataBound occurs the Item.Dataitem is always null. Instead I believe I have to do it in code. here is a sample I found: http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/VC/microsoft.public.vc.mfc/2006-10/msg00245.html My problem is that I prefer not to re-invent the wheel and test for errors myself or through QA. Someone must have implemented this before. Please share your code. What I would like to do is: Keep the same font size, family, etc. as in the already created label, but make it bold and italic as well. Keep the memory footprint reasonably low (do not create any new unnecessary objects), but do not get the app into an inconsistent state either. I appreciate your help.

  • How do I generate (and label) a random integer with python 3.2?

    Okay, so I'm admittedly a newbie to programming, but I can't determine how to get python v3.2 to generate a random positive integer between parameters I've given it. Just so you can understand the context, I'm trying to create a guessing-game where the user inputs parameters (say 1 to 50), and the computer generates a random number between the given numbers. The user would then have to guess the value that the computer has chosen. I've searched long and hard, but all of the solutions I can find only tell one how to get earlier versions of python to generate a random integer. As near as I can tell, v.3.2 changed how to generate and label a random integer. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

  • My UL child label elements disappear in IE on accordion menu opening

    I've got an app that's working pretty flawlessly in Chrome and FF, however, when I view it in IE, all is well until I click on a header element to activate it (jQuery accordion). What happens then is that I see a brief flash where the content is there, then suddenly the entire left column disappears. This column is generated by a floated label element with a class of ".left" as seen below... <ul class="menu collapsible"> <li class='expand sectionTitle'><a href='#'>General Settings</a> <ul class='acitem'> <li class="section"> <label class="left">This item if floated left with a defined width of 190px via css. This is the item that's disappearing after a brief display</label> <input class="input" value="input element here" /> <label class="description">This element has a margin-left:212px; set via css in order to be positioned to the right of the label element as if in an adjacent table cell. When I add a max-width property to this element, it disappears in IE too!</label> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> As you can see from the comments in the code above (for the two label elements) the description label disappears once I set a max-width on it. It shows up fine otherwise.

  • Issuse with multiple student result printing request

    I'm not really sure about how to ask this question but i'll try my best to make it clear enough. I have a Student Result Application where by students result are managed, over several academic sessions, all having two semesters each. During each semester students take different courses and have results based on the semester. The application is done now and i'm using a PDF Libaray to crop the final result page to hand over to the students each semester. If a student request a particular semester result it's a straight forward issue and there are no complications when it comes to printing out the result. My issue is this: in a case where a student requests to have a combination of semesters...say 3rd year rain semester , 4th year rain semester and 5th year hamattarn semester. Please how can i handle this issue? Does the user picks these options at the user interface level or there's a special way to handle issues like this? Also, if i'm to display these multiple student result how could this be be done, knowing fully well that i'll have to print the different result seperately.     What would you say would be the best way to do this: We would like to create a section on our activist community FB page and website in order to share with everyone images and files ready for printing panflets, brochures, t-shirts, stickers, etc. Let's say we have some cool slogans for t-shirts, so we would like to show them on a gallery, and offer for download the original design files needed for a print shop to create the t-shirts. And the same thing for all other kinds of media. We want to enable anyone to be able to just download the files for free, and easily create printed materials with them. But besides offering this hybrid between picture gallery and downloads manager, we would also like to make it very easy for anyone to upload and share their own files with the community, to make it a true collaboration initiative, be it that they get posted automatically, or that we first review and approve all uploads. Cafepress or Spreadshirt let you upload your design and sell your own merchandise. We need something similar, but where people can then download working files for making quality printings and materials. What apps, tools, services or methods are out there with which you think this could be best done?? We have some ideas, but we would like to hear some more!!

  • UEFI Boot Failure - Hang after Printing USB Information

    I'm experiencing a really weird boot problem. With both 12.10 and 12.04LTS, the vast majority of kernels (and initrds) that I've tried boot, but hang immediately after printing out information about USB devices. This isn't exactly a full "hang" so to speak, as if I plug in a flash drive, I see information and a /dev/sd* entry printed to the screen. Post/pre-init scripts are not run, there is no handoff, nor busybox or VT prompt. Virtual terminals can't be changed (with Ctrl-Alt-Fx). For what I can see, init may have not been executed yet. With certain kernel and OS combinations however, (specifically 3.2.0-29), I get a full boot and am able to use the OS as if there is no problem. After 3.2.0-29, I've been hard pressed to find a kernel that works. Any idea what's happening or how to fix this? Or even a road to take? I've exhausted the first five pages of Google for every search term I can think of. This is a Lenovo Z580 (i5-3210M) with Phoenix SecureCore Tiano firmware, if that helps any.

    I'm using LibGDX v1.1.0 and I see that the label of a TextButton is not properly centered. I have the following code: m_resumeButton = new TextButton("resume", skin); m_resumeButton.addListener(new ChangeListener() { public void changed(ChangeEvent event, Actor actor) { m_state = GameState.RUNNING; getGame().getWorld().pauseWorld(false); } }); The default TextButtonStyle is defined as: "com.badlogic.gdx.scenes.scene2d.ui.TextButton$TextButtonStyle": { "default": { "up": "menu-button", "down": "menu-button-down", "checked": "menu-button-down", "disabled": "menu-button-disabled", "font": "font24", "fontColor": "white" } } The menu button images are simple 240x48 bitmaps saved as 9-patch images.   • What tool for printing Invoices and similar documents in Java Swing?

    I'm looking for a good tool for printing Invoices, Receipts and similar documents in Java Swing. I have tried JasperReports but it is pretty hard to get a dynamic layout and it is designing for reports. A requirement that I have is that the document should be sent directly to the printer and must not be saved to a file. So some tools that first creates an Office Document or a PDF document isn't a solution for me. Any recommendations?

  • CUPS causes printer to click and doesn't print

    I'm suffering a strange problem with my Cannon iP4850 when trying to use CUPS on a Raspberry Pi (this is not RPi specific, please do not vote to move it). When I plug the printer into my Laptop (OSX) or my Desktop W7 it identifies as a iP4800 and prints perfectly. So I plug it into the Pi (running debian), set it up in CUPS enable sharing and can now see the iP4800 series shared on the network. However if I print to it (using AirPrint etc...); the file gets to CUPS safely (shows in the queue) but when it tries to print the printer clicks (like a loud thunk) 3/4 times and then gives in, with a double amber flashing light. In cups it shows as job completed. Do you know why using the pi and cups would cause what appears to be a hardware fault and what I can do to fix the problem or to provide further debug info?
