  • Stream sound card output to icecast2 via darkice

    I want to stream to icecast server via darkice, the default .cfg comes with /dev/dsp, witch is OSS, but there is no /dev/dsp in Ubuntu 12.10, so I tried hw:0,0, but it's just the microphone, and I would like to stream all of the sound-card output.   • No HDMI output on 12.10, Intel HD graphics (Ironlake)

    I am unable to get any output to my external monitor on 12.10. The monitor is recognized and shows the native res (1920x1080, correct) but enabling has no effect. Graphics chipset is Intel Ironlake (Arrandale). I have tried: Full system update after installing Oibaf PPA updated drivers (https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers) Enabling SNA Kubuntu 12.10 (in addition to Ubuntu 12.10) Both were fresh installs. Nothing works, any troubleshooting ideas? Everything is fine on 11.10. UPDATE 1: Also tried using Intel drivers from Xorg-Edgers PPA (https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa) Still no output on HDMI.

  • "find" command and piping its output through another program

    this is not an Ubuntu specific quesion, it applies to all unix/linux. how can I run a command like this: find . -maxdepth 1 -type d -print -exec svn info "{}" | grep URL \; the command above doesn't do what I want, I can't seem to pipe the output of the svn info to grep. This works, but the output contains much more than I need: find . -maxdepth 1 -type d -print -exec svn info "{}" \; Any ideas?

    I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and everything was perfect until todays's update. Now my audio output (speakers) and input (microphone) stopped working. I guess it's a driver issue, but I need help to debug this problem and to solve it.   • Paragraph formatting in a WPF RichTextBox?

    I need to apply paragraph formatting to a selection in a rich text box. My RTB will behave the same way as the rich text boxes on StackOverflow--the user can type text into the RTB, but they can also enter code blocks. The RTB will apply very simple formatting to the code block--it will change the font and apply a background color to the entire block, similar to what you see in the code block below. Changing the font is pretty straightforward: var textRange = new TextRange(rtb.Selection.Start, rtb.Selection.End); textRange.ApplyPropertyValue(TextElement.FontFamilyProperty, "Consolas"); textRange.ApplyPropertyValue(TextElement.FontSizeProperty, 10D ); Now I need to apply some paragraph-level formatting. I need to set the paragraph margin to 0, so I don't get a blank line between code lines, and I need to set the paragraph background color. Here's my problem: I can't figure out how to get the paragraph elements from the selection, so that I can apply formatting. Any suggestions? An example of how to apply the Margin and Background properties would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!

    I am getting these errors during sudo apt-get update and upgrade... I tried all possible options no success. I recently upgraded to 13.04 and had problems with Broadcom WiFi.     I'm not sure whether this is an issue with my use of cl-who (specifically with-html-output-to-string and with-html-output) or an issue with my understanding of Common Lisp (as this is my first project using Lisp). I created a function to create form fields: (defun form-field (type name label) (cl-who:with-html-output (*standard-output* nil) (:div :class "field" (:label :for name label) (:input :type type :name name)))) When using this function, ie: (form-field "text" "username" "Username") the parameter label seems to be ignored... the HTML output is: <div class="field"><label for="username"></label> <input type="text" name="username"/></div> instead of the expected output: <div class="field"><label for="username">Username</label> <input type="text" name="username"/></div> If I modify the function and add a print statement: (defun form-field (type name label) (cl-who:with-html-output (*standard-output* nil) (print label) (:div :class "field" (:label :for name label) (:input :type type :name name)))) The "Username" string is successfully output (but still ignored in the HTML)... any ideas what might cause this? Keep in mind, I'm calling this function within a cl-who:with-html-output-to-string for use with hunchentoot.

  • Is there a way to make PHP progressively output as the script executes?

    So I'm writing a disposable script for my own personal single use and I want to be able see how the process is going. Basically I'm processing a couple of thousand media releases and sending them to our new CMS. So I don't hammer the CMS, I'm making the script sleep for a couple of seconds after every 5 requests. I would like - as the script is executing - to be able to see my echos telling me the script is going to sleep or that the last transaction with the webservice was successful.   • Eclipse Ganymede for OS X contains no HTML formatter. Alternatives?

    In Eclipse 3.4 for Windows, the Source - Format option for formatting Java code was extended to format HTML code. However, for OS X, this option is disabled. Additionally, there are no formatting options in the Preferences. I've downloaded all the Web Tools for Eclipse and the option is still unavailable. Which plugin/feature allows for HTML formatting on Eclipse OS X, if there is one? Otherwise, what is a good Web-based alternative? Thanks, Adam

I've tried setting the variables to the output and correct output and I believe it's been successful but I can't get the string comparison to work correctly. I may be wrong about the variable setting so it could be that.     I am using the h5py python package to read files in HDF5 format. (e.g. somefile.h5) I would like to write the contents of a dataset to a text file. For example, I would like to create a text file with the following contents: 1,20,31,75,142,324,78,12,3,90,8,21,1 I am able to access the dataset in python using this code: import h5py f = h5py.File('/Users/Me/Desktop/thefile.h5', 'r') group = f['/level1/level2/level3'] dset = group['dsetname'] My naive approach is too slow, because my dataset has over 20000 entries: # write all values to file for index in range(len(dset)): # do not add comma after last value if index == len(dset)-1: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])) else: txtfile.write(repr(dset[index])+',') txtfile.close() return None Is there a faster way to write this to a file? Perhaps I could convert the dataset into a NumPy array or even a Python list, and then use some file-writing tool?     I have a program that generates and outputs a sequence of simple sample math homework tasks, like: 1 + 1 = ... 3 + 3 = ... 2 + 5 = ... 3 + 7 = ... 4 + 2 = ... a sequence can be quite long, and I'd like to save space when this sequence is printed by converting it as follows: 1 + 1 = ... 3 + 7 = ... 3 + 3 = ... 4 + 2 = ... 2 + 5 = ... that is, wrapping the lines into the two or more columns. I was expecting the column linux utility to do the job using the -c N option witn N=2, however, it still outputs the lines in one column whatever the N is. How would I do the column-ifying of the sequence of lines?

    I need to output the system audio from a desktop to both the HDMI output (sending to the display that functions as the room speakers) and via the analog stereo output (to feed the reference input on a microphone array for Skype). The only solution I've found so far for this is an HDMI Audio De-Embedder, but I'd really like to avoid buying another piece of hardware, so I'm hoping there's a way to do this inside software. So: Is there any way to make Windows 7 output all audio over both HDMI and Analog outs, simultaneously?

I am attempting to update Ubuntu to 10.04, but I still want to store /var on a separate partition and hard drive. However, I don't want to format the drive which currently contains /var, as it has important data. Is there some way to have 10.04 set up the new /var on this separate drive at installation, without formatting the drive and losing the old /var?
