  • Match d-M-Y with javascript regex how?

    Hi, my date formatting in PHP is d-M-Y and I'm trying to match the dates with a javascript regex: s.match(new RegExp(/^(\d{1,2})(\-)(\w{3})(\-)(\d{4})$/)) To be used with the jQuery plugin, tablesorter. The problem is it's not working and I'm wondering why not. I tried removing the dashes in my date() formatting (d M Y) and tried the ff and it worked: s.match(new RegExp(/^\d{1,2}[ ]\w{3}[ ]\d{4}$/)); My question is what is the correct regex if I'm using dashes on PHP's date() i.e. d-M-Y? It's just an array of bytes. bytea literals are output in the following way: '\\037\\213\\010\\010\\005`Us\\000\\0001.fp3\'\\223\\222%' See PostgreSQL docs for full definition of the format. I'm trying to construct a Perl regular expression which will match any such string. It should also match standard ANSI SQL string literals, like 'Joe', 'Joe''s Mom', 'Fish Called ''Wendy''' It should also match backslash-escaped variant: 'Joe\'s Mom', . First aproach (shown below) works only for some bytea representations. s{ ' # Opening apostrophe (?: # Start group [^\\\'] # Anything but a backslash or an apostrophe | # or \\ . # Backslash and anything | # or \'\' # Double apostrophe )* # End of group ' # Closing apostrophe }{LITERAL_REPLACED}xgo; For other (longer ones, with many escaped apostrophes, Perl gives such warning: Complex regular subexpression recursion limit (32766) exceeded at ./sqa.pl line 33, < line 1. So I am looking for a better (but still regex-based) solution, it probably requires some regex alchemy (avoiding backreferences and all).

More explaination here. @author Reveller <me@localhost> @version 19:05 28-12-2008 I now have this: $text = preg_replace('/\r?\n *\* */', ' ', $text); It does the job partially: it only removes the * in front of each line. Who could help me so it also strips /** and the final slash /? Any help would be greatly appreciated! P.S: If, for instance, the commentlbock would contain something like /** * @foo Here's some slashes for ya: / and \ */ Then obviously the slashes after @foo may not be stripped. The reult would have to be: @foo Here's some slashes for ya: / and \ I hope there's a regex guru out there :-)

    I've been trying to figure out how to write this regular expression. It is to be used for ISAPI_Rewrite, a module for IIS 6, for doing URL rewriting. I want the url /hg/<parameter> to be mathed, so it can be rewrited to /hg/hgwebdir.cgi/<parameter>. I've matched it using ^/hg/(.*). My problem is, if the URL /hg/hgwebdir.cgi/<parameter> is used, the regex should NOT match. Using the above regex with this URL, will rewrite to /hg/hgwebdig.cgi/hgwebdig.cgi/<parameter> which is not correct. Can you help me create the matching pattern?

  • Checking if language is set in url with regex

    I have am working on a multi language file. My urls look something like this: http://www.mydomain.com/en/about/info http://www.mydomain.com/nl/about/info Now I use a small regex script that redirect the user when they use a link without language. The script looks like this: preg_match('~^/[a-z]{2}/~', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] This finds out is there is a language set en|nl|de etc. This works fine on all links except for these: http://www.mydomain.com/en http://www.mydomain.com/nl There is no trailing slash so the regex can not find the given values. Anyone know a fix for this?

    I'm currently trying to wrap my head around regex, I have a validation snippet that tests an input box against a regex-expression: $.validator.addMethod("customerName", function(value, element){ return (/^[a-zA-Z]*$/).test(value); }, "Some text"); That works well, but when I try to add a space and some special danish characters, it doesn't filter the danish characters, only the space. $.validator.addMethod("customerName", function(value, element){ return (/^[a-zA-Z æøåÆØÅ]*$/).test(value); }, "Some text"); Any ideas to what could be wrong?

    I'm writing a regular expression that can interactively validate SMTP responses codes, once the SMTP dialog is completed it should pass the following regex (some parentheses added for better readability): ^(220)(250){3,}(354)(250)(221)$ Or with(out) authentication: ^(220)(250)((334){2}(235))?(250){2,}(354)(250)(221)$ I'm trying to do rewrite the above regexes so that I can interactively check if the dialog is going as expected, otherwise politely send a QUIT command and close the connection saving bandwidth and time, but I'm having a hard time writing an optimal regex. So far I've managed to come up with: ^(220(250(334(235(250(354(250(221)?)?)?){0,})?){0,2})?)?$ Which, besides only matching authenticated connections, has some bugs... For instance, it matches: 220250334235250354250221 220250334334235250354250221 I've also tried the following modification: ^(220(250)?)?((334(235)?){2})?(250(354(250(221)?)?)?){0,}$ This one accepts non-authenticated responses but it fails to match 220250334 and wrongly matches 220250334334235250354250221 (at least 2 250 are needed before the 354 response code). Can someone help me out with this? Thanks in advance.

Could you also enlighten me with with an example on possible Pattern Matching Strength algorithm i.e. if code match 90 select?     I'm trying to use regex to add a span to the first word of content for a page, however the content contains HTML so I am trying to ensure just a word gets chosen. The content changes for every page. Current script is: preg_match('/(<(.*?)>)*/i',$page_content,$matches); $stripped = substr($page_content,strlen($matches[0])); preg_match('/\b[a-z]* \b/i',$stripped,$strippedmatch); echo substr($page_content, 0, strlen($matches[0])).'<span class="h1">'.$strippedmatch[0].'</span>'.substr($stripped, strlen($strippedmatch[0])); However if the $page_content is <p><span class="title">This is </span> my title!</p> Then my regex thinks the first word is "span" and adds the tags around that. Is there any way to fix this? (or a better way to do it).

    Hi all I have this regex pattern <(\d+)>(\d+\.\d+|\d{4}\-\d+\-\d+\s+\d{2}:\d{2}:\d{2})(?:\..*?)*\s+(ALER|NOTI) and this is my input (will not matched at all) <150>2010-12-29 18:11:30.883 -0700 192.168.2.145 80 192.168.2.87 2795 "-" "-" GET HTTP 192.168.2.145 HTTP/1.1 200 36200 0 1038 544 192.168.2.221 80 540 SERVER DEFAULT PASSIVE VALID /joomla/ "-" http://192.168.2.145/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=a be4d44e8f3986183a87991398c1c212e=1; be4d44e8f3986183a87991398c1c212e=1 This will return not matched result but it takes too long to output the result. Since i have a thousand of logs/inputs in a second, it should finish very fast for every single log/input. Sometime it reaches CPU 100%. Can anyone help me to solve this regex problem? Thanks

    Hi guys. Trying to fiddle around with regex here, my first attempt. Im trying to extract some figures out of content from an XML tag. The content looks like this: www.blahblah.se/maps.aspx?isAlert=true&lat=51.958855252721&lon=-0.517657021473527 I need to extract the lat and long numerical vales out of each link. They will always be the same amount of characters, and the lon may or may not have a "-" sign. I keep getting this error. I have checked for improperly balanced '(', ')', no dice :( Unmatched ) in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/(\s|^|,|/|;|\|)Owner) <-- HERE (\s|$|,|/|;|\|)/ If you could tell me what the regex does, that had be awesome.     To be honest, I suck at regex so much, I would use RegexBuddy, but I'm working on my Mac and sometimes it doesn't help much (for me).     I'm trying to make a PHP regex to extract functions from php source code. Until now i used a recursive regex to extract everything between {} but then it also matches stuff like if statements. When i use something like: preg_match_all("/(function .(.))({([^{}]+|(?R))*})/",$this-data,$matches2); It doesn't work when there is more than 1 function in the file (probably because it uses the 'function' part in the recursiveness too). Is there any way to do this? Example file: <?php if($useless) { echo "i don't want this"; } function bla($wut) { echo "i do want this"; } ?> Thanks

    I'm looking for a regex to validate initials. The only format I want it to allow is: (a capital followed by a period), and that one or more times Valid examples: A. A.B. A.B.C. Invalid examples: a. a A A B A B C AB ABC Using The Regulator and some websites I have found the following regex, but it only allows exactly one upper (or lower!) case character followed by a period: ^[A-Z][/.]$ Basically I only need to know how to force upper case characters, and how I can repeat the validation to allow more the one occurence of an upper case character followed by a period.

    I've just installed fail2ban on my CentOS server in response to an SSH brute force attempt. The default regular expressions in fail2ban's sshd.conf file do not match any entries in audit.log, which is where SSH seems to be logging all connection attempts, so I am trying to add an expression that will match. The string I am trying to match is as follows: type=USER_LOGIN msg=audit(1333630430.185:503332): user pid=30230 uid=0 auid=500 subj=user_u:system_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 msg='acct="root": exe="/usr /sbin/sshd" (hostname=?, addr=<HOST IP>, terminal=sshd res=failed)' The regular expression I am attempting to use is: ^.*addr=<HOST>, terminal=sshd res=failed.*$ I've used regextester.com and regexr to try to build the regex. The testers give me a match for this regex:^.*addr=\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}\.\d{1,3}, terminal=sshd res=failed.*$ but fail2ban-regex complains if I don't use the <HOST> tag in the regex. However, using ^.*addr=<HOST>, terminal=sshd res=failed.*$ gives me 0 matches. At this point, I am totally stuck and I would greatly appreciate any assistance. What am I doing wrong in the regex I am trying to use?
