• List DB2 version, OS and hardware on Linux? (aws image)H

  Hello everybody, I'm not that familiar with Linux but I'm currently working on a aws image for an assignment and I need to display the DB2 version, the OS and the hardware.   Hello, I need to configure ftpd on a CentOS 5.3 host to allow anonymous ftp (upload and download) from a well defined directory. I wish the setup to be as simple as possible, and to introduce as little new dependencies as possible. Scanning the current server configuration, I found the ftpd server that comes as part of the Kerberos workstation: > rpm -ql krb5-workstation | grep ftpd$ /usr/kerberos/sbin/ftpd Is there any reason I could or should not use this ftp server?

• lwp-rget changes file format automatically to .bin?

  Im trying to recursively get an html page to get everything that's there and save it to my directory. Lwp-rget from perl allows me to do this but I'm having the problem that its getting all the files and changing them from .rpm, .xml, .html, etc to .bin. I've been trying to maybe use the --keepext=application/xml or any type but it continues to save the file as .bin. Any way I can stop that auto formatting? Thanks.

• My hard drive can only boot once every two times

  Hi all, I just installed a Kingston 64 GB SSD into my laptop, replacing the old 80 GB 5400 RPM one. The drive starts up and works fine every other time. For example, if I'm running normally, and press "Restart", I get: 2100 Initialization error on HDD0. I turn off the computer manually, restart, and...it boots into Ubuntu again. This happens every other time without fail...anyone know what the problem could be?

  I'm trying to get an lsyncd daemon running. I installed the lsyncd RPM from epel, but it doesn't seem to come with an init.d script. In the lsyncd repository, there's this script that works with Debian. However, when I try to run this under CentOS, I get this message: /etc/init.d/lsyncd: line 46: log_daemon_msg: command not found How can I adapt this to work with CentOS?

• Installing softare on Linux

  I'm trying to install the GMP package on Redhat 4, x86_64. The package can only be installed using make, which is not available and should be installed with apt-get/yum, but I don't have either one of them. I tried installing them using rpm, but they each require lots of dependencies themselves, which although finite in amount seem like a VERY tedious job to do. Any help on how I should go about solving this?

• CentOS PHP Sessions not working even though the PHP Info page says it is

  I have PHP installed properly from the Remi repo on CentOS 6 (64 bit). As shown in the image above, the PHP information page shows sessions as working and installed, yet I get this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function session_create() in /var/www/lighttpd/index.php on line 1 I've tried multiple reinstalls, different PHP RPM's, and yet nothing will get sessions going. How can I get PHP sessions working?

If you search for a bit, you can find several forums with people having problems, but of course forums don't get updated when resolutions to those problems are found. I'm just wondering, does anyone know what the final verdict regarding the freezing issue with these hard drives is?

So I figured, I can install Cygwin and through that install Grub, but I am used to Linux Mint, which uses apt-get. I have used CentOS before which uses rpm, but how do I install and use packages in the Cygwin terminal, and is it possible to install Grub through Cygwin?

• Compiling PHP with cURL and SSL support on Redhat EC5

  I don't even know where to begin to be honest. Trying to use an external API that requires SSL connections, I discover that SSL in needed on cURL, but this (apparently) requires PHP to be reinstalled and compiled with cURL / SSL support. Not really experienced with compiling PHP, and I'm not sure if our server even has make or build, the only luck I've had is with rpm's before. This really isn't in my job description.   I was just going through some all-in-one desktop PCs (Dell Studio One, HP Touch Smart, Lenovo IdeaCenter, etc.) and their specs really look good (4 GB RAM, 2.x GHz Core 2 Duo, etc.) Are there any disadvantages of such PCs as a developer machine? I mostly do Java (Eclipse + MySQL + Tomcat / JBoss) or .NET (Visual Studio + MsSQL) development. Edit: One common question I could see is harddrive size and that's around 320 GB 7200 RPM.

  I need, for mysql to use large-pages, to set a ulimit - I've done this in limits.conf. However, limits.conf (pam_limits.so), doesn't get read in for init, only for "real" shells. I solved this before by adding a "ulimit -l" to the initscript start function. but I need some sort of repeatable way to do this, now that the boxes are managed with chef, and we don't want to take over a file that's actually owned by the RPM.

  I have installed the ICC recently, the XE composer 2013 version and I don't get success for running it because I have some errors to find libs that I don't know, however, I think that the artifact ia32-libs don't be found on the Ubuntu 12.04.1 can be the reason!. Thus, I got these dependencies: sudo apt-get install rpm build-essential sudo apt-get install libstdc++6 but these don't sudo apt-get install ia32-libs* or sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-multiarch I got this error always I'm trying compile on ICC: ld: cannot find -limf ld: cannot find -lsvml ld: cannot find -lipgo ld: cannot find -ldecimal ld: cannot find -lirc ld: cannot find -lsvml Thanks in advantage.

  I am having overheating issues when watching flash videos. Here is all the relevant information that I could think of. Please help. --Often when playing flash videos it operates at 95 degrees C. --Only gets that hot when on full screen (but still in the 80s otherwise) --Sometimes reaches 100 degrees and shuts down. --fan runs at around 4500 RPM when hot (not to mention I can here it speed up) --Happens under Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 (did not use Ubuntu before then) --Overheating happens on more than one site (for example youtube and Comedy Central) --My computer does not overheat otherwise. --Usually runs around 50-60 degrees C. --Maybe if compiling or doing updates can it get to 70 or 75 degree C. --Have a dual boot, and under Windows I do not have this issue. --I use firefox, but have the same issue if using Chrome --I have a Lenovo T410, currently running Ubuntu 12.10 --Intel® Core™ i5 CPU M 540 @ 2.53GHz × 4 --4 GB of memory, 64 bit OS --Graphics: NVS 3100M/PCIe/SSE2 Thanks and let me know if you need more info, Ben
