• Code optimizer extension for Dreamweaver?

  Due to my neat coding style, my pages take up like 30% more space on both my server and the output HTML. Is there any free extension for Dreamweaver to automatically optimize my pages when uploading them? I mean not only HTML, but also PHP, CSS and JS... Actually, removing unnecessary tabs, spaces and new lines will just do the trick. After removing the unnecessary spaces, tabs and new lines from my PHP code, the page loaded three times faster so this is important...

• postgres - remove whitespace from field?

  I imported a bunch of data using pgloader, and am now seeing that there's a bunch of whitespace (both spaces and tabs) inside of the fields. Is there a way to quickly update the fields to remove it from the beginning, the end, and the middle? I know there's TRIM, but that won't work for me... As an added problem... I only want to remove double spaces and replace it with a single space, but there might be 5 or 6 spaces in a row, and I'd prefer not to have to rerun a replace query until they're all ok? I was looking at regex_replace, but, I'm not sure how to make certain that it removes it from the middle of a string as well...

  I've been trying to construct a ruby regex which matches trailing spaces - but not indentation placeholders - so I can gsub them out. I had this /\b[\t ]+$/ and it was working a treat until I realised it only works when the line ends are [a-zA-Z]. :-( So I evolved it into this /(?!^[\t ]+)[\t ]+$/ and it seems like it's getting better, but it still doesn't work properly. I've spent hours trying to get this to work to no avail. Please help. Here's some text test so it's easy to throw into Rubular, but the indent lines are getting stripped so it'll need a few spaces and/or tabs. Once lines 3 & 4 have spaces back in, it shouldn't match on lines 3-5, 7, 9. some test test some test test some other test (text) some other test (text) likely here{ dfdf } likely here{ dfdf } and this ; and this ; Alternatively, is there an simpler / more elegant way to do this?

• Using normalize-string XPath function from SQL XML query ?

  Hi, is it possible to run an SQL query, with an XPath "where" clause, and to trim trailing spaces before the comparison ? I have an SQL XML column, in which I have XML nodes with attributes which contain trailing spaces. I would like to find a given record, which has a specified attribute value - without the trailing spaces. When I try, I get... "There is no function '{http://www.w3.org/2004/07/xpath-functions}:normalize-space()'" I have tried the following (query 1 works, query 2 doesn't).   I want to provide some template for a code generator I am developing. A typical pattern for class is : public ${class_type} ${class_name} extends ${super_class} implements ${interfaces} { ${class_body} } Problem is if super_class is blank or interfaces. I replace extends ${super_class} with empty string. But I get extra spaces. So a class with no super_class and interfaces end up like : public class Foo { //see the extra spaces before {? ${class_body} } I know I can replace multiple spaces with single, but is there any better approach?

• passing user from UITableView to UIWebView based on selection

  Hello, I'm trying to pass the user on to the interface based on their cell selection in the UITableView, ie, if the user selects cell 1, they are taken to view model 2, containing UIWebView. UIWebView then displays local file, cell1.html. Currently, I've manage to get placeholder using: selectedCellText.text = selectedCell; to display the name of the cell selected. How do I get it to directly pass to the UIWebView, stick UIWebView in the interface and link it using: UIWebView *myWebView = [[UIWebView alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; NSBundle *mainBundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *stringUrl = [mainBundle pathForResource:@"selectedCell" ofType:@"html"]; NSURL *baseUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:stringUrl]; NSURLRequest *urlRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:baseUrl]; [myWebView loadRequest:urlRequest]; My other issue is that some of the cell names have spaces in them, and for simplicity, I'd like to ensure that there are no spaces (actually, will it even work with spaces in the name, I assume with %20 ? • Ignoring focusLost(), SWT.Verify, or other SWT listeners in Java code.

  Outside of the actual SWT listener, is there any way to ignore a listener via code? For example, I have a java program that implements SWT Text Widgets, and the widgets have: SWT.Verify listeners to filter out unwanted text input. ModifyListeners to wait for the correct number of valid input characters and automatically set focus (using setFocus())to the next valid field, skipping the other text widgets in the tab order. focusLost(FocusEvent) FocusListeners that wait for the loss of focus from the text widget to perform additional input verification and execute an SQL query based on the user input. The issue I run into is clearing the text widgets. One of the widgets has the format "####-##" (Four Numbers, a hyphen, then two numbers) and I have implemented this listener, which is a modified version of SWT Snippet Snippet179. The initial text for this text widget is " - " to provide visual feedback to the user as to the expected format. When that input is received, the listener changes the text back to " - " (four spaces, a hyphen, then two spaces). The problem is that messageboxes seem to create a focusLost event, and using the .setText(string) method is subject to SWT.Verify listeners that are present on the text widget. I guess I should strongly type the view but am a newbie and having lots of problems figuring this out. Any help would be appreciated. • java - how to split string in to multiple parts?

  I have a string that contains a value "firstword second third", and an ArrayList. I want to split the whole string in to by spaces and add the splitted strings in to the ArrayList. For example,"firstword second third" can be split to three separate strings and added three times in to the ArrayList. "1 2 3 4" can be splitted in to 4 strings and added 4 times in to the ArrayList.   K&R C Programming Language: pg. 105 Extend entab and detab to accept the shorthand entab -m +n to mean tab stops every n columns, starting at column m. entab replaces a number of spaces with a tab character and detab does the opposite. The question I have concerns the tab stops and entab. I figure that for detab it's pretty easy to determine the number of spaces needed to reach the next tab stop, so no worries there. With entab, replacing spaces with tabs is slightly more difficult since I cannot for sure know how large the tab character goes to its own tab stop (unless there is a way to know for sure). Am I even thinking about this thing properly?

I want to change the date to be a different format. So final outcome will be: 789754654 COLORA SOMETHING1 01191937FYY076 2342423234SS323423 742784897 COLORB SOMETHING2 07222006FYY076 2342342342SDFSD3423 The columns are seperated by spaces not tabs. And the final file should have exact number of spaces as the original file....only thing changing should be the date format. How can I do this? I wrote a script but it will lose the original spaces and positioning will be messed up. file.each_line do |line| dob = line.split(" ") puts dob[3] #got the date. change its format 5.times { puts "**" } end Can anyone suggest a better strategy so that positioning in the original file remains the same?

• What is causing my spacebar to randomly stop working?

  A couple of times a day, I'll be typing something and realise I can't type spaces. Usually the cursor will flicker instead when I press the spacebar, and I can type all other letters as far as I can tell. If I'm in a terminal the cursor turns from a solid square to an empty square until I release the spacebar. For some reason, restarting compiz with alt-F2 compiz fixes it, until it next occurs. I can still copy and paste spaces from sources that already have them, and I can still insert spaces with ctrl-shift-u, 20, enter. This has been happening for a while, since before I upgraded to maverick, but it feels like its beceoming more frequent. There really doesn't seem to be any kind of a pattern to it. I'm using 64 bit ubuntu 10.10 on a system76 panp7 laptop. Any ideas how I might troubleshoot? I have a hot corner which initiates a window picker, and I've customised the window picking so that left click goes to a window, right click closes one and spacebar zooms in on one. When I go to this hot corner, compiz must take control of my spacebar, and clearly isn't giving it back when I leave the window picker. So I'll be filing a bug against compiz. reported:here

• Trying to do a batch rename, can't figure out the proper RegEx

  I'm trying to rename my movie collection. All of the files are currently named using dots instead of spaces, i.e. Men.in.Black.avi. I want to replace all of the dots with spaces which isn't terribly difficult, but I need to preserve the last dot for the file extension, i.e. .avi, .mp4, .ogg, etc. My Googling has provided no solutions. I'm also a Javascript developer and could see some snazzy applications for it. So, any suggestions?

• Simple method for reliably detecting code in text?

  GMail has this feature where it will warn you if you try to send an email that it thinks might have an attachment. Because GMail detected the string see the attached in the email, but no actual attachment, it warns me with an OK / Cancel dialog when I click the Send button. We have a related problem on Stack Overflow. That is, when a user enters a post like this one: my problem is I need to change the database but I don't won't to create a new connection. example: DataSet dsMasterInfo = new DataSet(); Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase("ConnectionString"); DbCommand dbCommand = db.GetStoredProcCommand("uspGetMasterName"); This user did not format their code as code! That is, they didn't indent by 4 spaces per Markdown, or use the code button (or the keyboard shortcut ctrl+k) which does that for them. Thus, our system is accreting a lot of edits where people have to go in and manually format code for people that are somehow unable to figure this out. This leads to a lot of bellyaching. We've improved the editor help several times, but short of driving over to the user's house and pressing the correct buttons on their keyboard for them, we're at a loss to see what to do next. That's why we are considering a Google GMail style warning: Did you mean to post code? You wrote stuff that we think looks like code, but you didn't format it as code by indenting 4 spaces, using the toolbar code button or the ctrl+k code formatting command. However, presenting this warning requires us to detect the presence of what we think is unformatted code in a question. What is a simple, semi-reliable way of doing this? Per Markdown, code is always indented by 4 spaces or within backticks, so anything correctly formatted can be discarded from the check immediately. This is only a warning and it will only apply to low-reputation users asking their first questions (or providing their first answers), so some false positives are OK, so long as they are about 5% or less. Questions on Stack Overflow can be in any language, though we can realistically limit our check to, say, the "big ten" languages. Per the tags page that would be C#, Java, PHP, JavaScript, Objective-C, C, C++, Python, Ruby. Use the Stack Overflow creative commons data dump to audit your potential solution (or just pick a few questions in the top 10 tags on Stack Overflow) and see how it does. Pseudocode is fine, but we use c# if you want to be extra friendly. The simpler the better (so long as it works). KISS! If your solution requires us to attempt to compile posts in 10 different compilers, or an army of people to manually train a bayesian inference engine, that's ... not exactly what we had in mind.

• Restricting crawler activity to certain directories with robots.txt

  I would like to use robots.txt to prevent indexing of some parts of my website. I want search engines to index only the / directory and not search inside my controllers. In my robots.txt, I have this: User-Agent: * Disallow: /compagnies/ Disallow: /floors/ Disallow: /spaces/ Disallow: /buildings/ Disallow: /users/ Disallow: / I put this file in /mysite/public. I tested the file with a robots.txt validator and got no errors. However, Google always returns the result of my site. For testing, I added Disallow: /, but again, Google indexed all pages. floors, spaces, buildings, etc. are not physical directories. Is this a bug? How can I work around it?

• How to remove space between application and workspace switcher on Unity launcher?

  I just downloaded Ubuntu 11.10 for the first time. I really enjoy the launcher on the left hand side but have a problem. After playing around with adding applications in it, there are large spaces from the last application to workspace switcher. If I try to drag a new application into the launcher everything moves farther down, instead of filling in the space in between apps. When I right click on the launcher in a blank spot it reads "drop to add application." I'm looking for a way to have all of the applications close together with no spaces, like when I first downloaded Ubuntu.

• FRM-40654 Error on Purchase Order Lines?? Stop 'em Now by Applying Patch 14204845

  Procurement Development has just released a new patch for Release 12 that will stop those annoying FRM-40654 errors on Purchase Order lines, before they occur. When a Purchase Order (PO) is created through autocreate from a requisition line that accidently has blank spaces, this triggers a row lock and when the user tries to update the created PO the FRM-40654 error message ‘Record has been updated. Requery block to see the change’ occurs. Development has added code to remove these leading or trailing spaces, thus avoiding the issue in the first place.  This patch has been added to the recommend patch list in Doc ID 1358356.1 'Recommended Patches for Purchase Order and Requisition Processing'.  Be proactive and apply Patch 14204845:R12.PO.B now!

• Setting tab size in Emacs

  I'm using Emacs as an editor. I want to set the tab size to four spaces. In my .emacs file I have the following: (setq default-tab-width 4) I've also tried: (set-default tab-width 4) Either way, when I open emacs and try to tab, it inserts two spaces. Am I doing something wrong? It almost seems like its not seeing my .emacs file. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

I have to find out lines ( wherever mopre than one lines is coming) and should replace with one line spaces. The od and hexdump commands both insert spaces in the dump, I DON'T WANT THIS, I need something that will simply write a long string with all the hex characters without inserting spaces or newlines in the output.
