    In Windows 8 Professional, Metro Apps and Windows Update do not work on static IP settings behind authenticated proxy server. They work on DHCP on the same proxy settings. (We have DHCP for wifi and static IP for LAN, both using the same proxy server). IE, Chrome and other desktop apps work nicely on both. Metro apps worked on an auth proxy (DHCP only), when I changed their proxy settings from the 'edit group policy' option. (StartSettingsEdit Group PolicyComputer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesNetwork IsolationInternet Proxy for Apps) Can this be fixed?

  • multiple godaddy domains to home router then reverse proxy to multiple internal servers [closed]

    I need someone to steer me correctly... advising on all required components. I have multiple domains with godaddy, say site1.com , site2.com, site3.net I have multiple home LAMP servers... one on say, lampsrv1 = 192.168.0.2:8080 (windows) and lampsrv2 = 192.168.0.3:9080 (linux srv2) I would like to have server1.site1.com point to lampsrv1 and server2.site1.com point to lampsrv2 . I may also want server1.site2.com also point to my lampsrv1 as an option. My thinking is - I have a dedicated linux srv1 with a reverse proxy server behind the router, ie Apache or NGINX or equivalent directing to appropriate LAMP server. It's the godaddy subdomains, cnames or redirections, etc I'm having a challenge with for starters... I have tested apache with virtual servers but can't get proxying to work based on host header info... seems to go to one address making me think its actually the apache reverse proxying that's not quite working. Finally to add to this, my router has a dynamic IP but does lease for quite a while but that would be my final piece. So, I'm sure this might be a popular question but can't seem to piece this together. I need someone who has actually configured this scenario to advise but will take other suggestions.... please indicate if you have successfully configured this.

    I am trying to use the apache's proxy module for working with xmpp on ubuntu desktop. For this i did the following things - 1) enabled mod_proxy by creating a symlink of proxy.conf, proxy.load and proxy_http.load from /etc/apache2/mods-available/ in the mods-enabled directory. 2) Added the following lines to the vhost <Proxy http://mydomain.com/httpbind> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass /httpbind http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/ ProxyPassReverse /httpbind http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/ I am new to using the proxy module but what i can make from the above lines is that requests to http://mydomain.com/httpbind will be forwarded to http://mydomain.com:7070/http-bind/. Kindly correct if wrong. 3) added rule Allow from .mydomain.com in /mods-available/proxy.conf Now i try to access http://mydomain.com/httpbind and it shows 403 Forbidden error.. What am i missing here ?     My school requires a proxy for all internet access. If you want to use the internet, it is impossible to not use a proxy. This makes it a problem for many programs that don't seem to let you enter proxy settings. How can I use Steam when I am behind a proxy? Is it possible to somehow enter the details into a configuration file, or force it to get the settings from Internet Explorer? If not, does software exist for creating a 'virtual' network adapter which will pass all traffic (or all protocol x traffic) through the proxy? Although I am facing this specific problem on Windows 7, solutions for all operating systems are welcome.

  • Setting Up Apache as a Forward Proxy with Cahcing

    I am trying to set up Apache as a forward proxy with caching, but it does not seem to be working correctly. Getting Apache working as a forward proxy was no problem, but no matter what I do it is not caching anything, to disk or memory. I already checked to make sure nothing is conflicting in the mods_enabled directory with mod_cache (ended up commenting it all out) and also I tried moving all of the caching related fields to the configuration file for mod_cache. In addition I set up logging for caching requests, but nothing is being written to those logs.     I'm trying to use squid to modify the page content of web page requests. I followed the upside-down-ternet tutorial which showed instructions for how to flip images on pages. I need to change the actual html of the page. I've been trying to do the same thing as in the tutorial, but instead of editing the image I'm trying to edit the html page. Below is a php script I'm using to try to do it. All jpg images get flipped, but the content on the page does not get edited.     I'm using Ubuntu, as many proxy applications, GNOME Network Proxy Preferences only allow to ignore hosts. What I want to do is exactly the opposite. I only want to use the proxy for few sites. Is it possible to define only the allowed hosts in any way? PS: I know FoxyProxy add-on for Firefox does this, but 1)I don't use Firefox and 2)I want the proxy settings system wide not only for browser.

However, the last step which says to change the CHMOD of a folder, I got an error saying that the directory does not exist.   • How to circumvent ISP Limiting "Unknown" traffic - (SSH)Proxy, VPN

    I am having issues with using a proxy/VPN, with my current ISP (Comenersol, Spain). From my point of view they limit traffic by protocol or by traffic they "know" and "dont know". I'll explain my findings so far below. Internet connection in Spain: ~400-420KByte/sec (speedtest.net) OpenVPN Server in Sweden(pfsense): 100/100Mbit. LZO Compression. TCP. Tun. Aes128 Squid Proxy server in Sweden (pfsense): 100/100 (same box as the vpn server). Plain, no encryption. Runs in stealth mode to hide the use of proxy. NOT running OpenVPN or Squid Proxy, this is my findings: When I download a file from my pfsense box in Sweden, I get maximum speed When I run speedtest.net and choose any european server (including Swedish), I get max speed When I download a torrent (with non default port above 10K), I get limited to ~100KByte/sec. Encryption is turned off If I download something through https, I get max speed Running either Squid Proxy or VPN, this is my findings When I download a file from my pfsense box in Sweden, I get ~100KByte/sec When I run speedtest.net and choose any european server (including Swedish and Spanish), I get ~100Kbyte/sec When I download a torrent, I get same limitation ~100KByte/sec When I download something through https, I get ~100KByte/sec I verify the speeds above with speedtest.net measure, firefox measure in addition to having bmon running in terminal in the background. This way I am certain that the speeds I get presented, are in fact correct. If I connect through a different ISP with VPN or Squid Proxy, I get better speeds (400KByte/sec ++) In short: Whenever I tunnel my traffic through Sweden, my SPanish ISP throttles the traffic. I thought tunneling it through Squid would solve the issue, since I then would no longer hide my traffic through encryption. This does not seem to be the case. Wget and fetch gives same result. I did not try 'nc', but I assume this would give the same result. Does anyone know how to circumvent this issue? I would very much like to be able to get full speed with Swedish ip, as this would make me able to stream TV at higher quality than today. 100KByte/sec just does not cut it quality wise.     I am trying to get Jira and Stash to talk to each other via a Trusted Application link. The setup, currently, looks like this: Jira - http - Jira Proxy -https- stash proxy -http- stash. Jira and the Jira proxy are on the same machine. The Jira Proxy is showing 403 Forbidden for POST requests from the stash server. It works (or seems to ) for everything else. I contend that since we're seeing 403 forbiddens in the access log for apache, Jira is never seeing the request. Why is apache forbidding posts,and how do I fix it? Note that the IPs for both Stash and the Stash Proxy are in the "trusted host" section.   • Configuring IE to resolve DNS at the proxy rather than locally.

    With the intention of tunneling web traffic through an SSH connection, the following has been done: I've manually configured a PAC file in IE7 in the LAN Settings dialog. I've verified that traffic is routed through my SSH tunnel that is setup for SOCKS5 dynamic port forwarding. I see that IE7 is always trying to resolve the name locally first. What I'm looking for is the ability to have the DNS name resolved at the proxy, rather than locally by the browser. There's a setting in Firefox that specifies DNS remote resolution, and Safari does it automatically. I've verified correct operation for these 2 other browsers. It would be nice if I could get IE to work also. This is for reference so you could understand where does the question originate from. Notice: The question was actually found by the help of google but with no answers available. Considering how it is exactly my question I figured I should just copy/paste over here because I don't think I could describe any better (there is a small introduction though).

    Is it possible to create an SSH tunnel over http-proxy when https access is denied? I had such configuration in .ssh\config Host home User root Hostname *my-home-pc-with-ssh-access-allowed* Port 8090 ProxyCommand corkscrew db-isa-01 8080 %h %p ~/.ssh/.corkscrew-db-isa-auth IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa Where db-isa-01 is my corporate proxy server. Today the admins blocked all https access and allowed it only for few servers on the white list. I used this command to create a tunnel: ssh -D 7070 -o 'GatewayPorts yes' -A -q -g -t root@home and now it doesn't work. As I can understand, that's because our proxy denies all https connections Proxy could not open connnection to ***: Proxy Error ( The specified Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed. Forefront TMG is not configured to allow SSL requests from this port. Most Web browsers use port 443 for SSL requests. ) P.S. I use Windows 7, and corscskrew with cygwin, so Linux solutions not suitable for me.

    Where are these system proxy settings? I noticed my connection has been slow for a while, then I checked the connection settings and was surprised there were set a proxy, but I cant see what exactly it is using. Where can I check which IP it was routing the connection for me ? Here is what I saw from Firefox (12.0) options: http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/4370/sysproxy.png As far as I can remember, it has always been "no proxy" and not "system proxy". Unless new firefox version has set that "system proxy" to default?
