  • Entity Framework POCO Template for .NET 3.5

    If you are using Visual Studio 2010 and targeting .NET 3.5, you can still use the new T4 POCO template generation. I discovered this accidentally. (How else?) When you attempt to add a new code generation item from the model, there will be no templates available:   But if you click on Online Templates, there is an ADO.NET POCO Generator created by Microsoft: And it does the job as expected!   • The joomla 'create a template' tutorial

    Hello all, Ive recently downloaded joomla using an instant download option, and now im looking to create my own templates, so i went to http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/joomla15/joomla_create_template.htm and Im trying to follow the tuturial but ive failed at the first hurdle... where it says "First, open the "templates" directory in your Joomla installation. Then create a subfolder in it named "tutorial_template". All the files of your template will reside in it." The problem is I have no clue how to do this, where is the directory to start with?? the only thing I know how to get up is the administrators screen, in which I have to choose one of the stock templates, which would be great if I didnt care about my own designs...but obviously im looking to have my own html and css coding used instead. How do I find where the folders are and how do I open them? Im sorry if its a bit of a dumb question but im so confused..so early on. Thanks in advance. Ryan

I was surprised not to find anything on the web addressing the problem, so I thought Id write a short post about it. It really is very simple once you know where to look.     Is this a bad practice? const int sId(int const id); // true/false it doesn't matter template<bool i> const int sId(int const id) { return this->id = id; } const int MCard::sId(int const id){ MCard card = *this; this->id = id; this->onChange.fire(EventArgs<MCard&, MCard&>(*this, card)); return this->id; } myCard.sId(9); myCard.sId<true>(8); As you can see, my goal is to be able to have an alternative behaviour for sId. I know I could use a second parameter to the function and use a if, but this feels more fun (imo) and might prevent branch prediction (I'm no expert in that field). So, is it a valid practice, and/or is there a better approach?

    SharePoint 2010 Training: more information I wish I had done this earlier, I have wasted so much time over the past 2 years doing the following. Create a console app Add reference to Microsoft.SharePoint.dll Hit F5, curse because I forgot to set the framework to .NET 3.5 Right click properties, change framework to .NET 3.5 Hit F5, curse again because I get a FileNotFoundException, because I forgot to make it a x64 app. Finally on my way, 2 minutes later – which has added to atleast 2 hours over the last year.   Well, no more!   • Is it better to specialize in a single field I like, or expand into other fields to broaden my horizons?

    This is a dilemma about which I have been thinking for quite a while. I'm a graduate student and my topics of interest are programming language design, code analysis, compilation, etc. So far, this field has been very interesting and rewarding for me, so I was thinking about finding a job in that field and continuing to specialize in it. I feel like it's a relatively solid field which won't "get out of style" anytime soon. I've always thought that in such complex fields it's better to be a real expert than just another guy who superficially understand what the experts are talking about. On the other hand, I feel that by specializing this way I really limit my future option. I have always been a strong believer in multidisciplinary approaches to problems. Maybe I should go search for a general programming job in which I could gain experience in other fields, as well as occasionally apply my favorite field for solving problems. Specializing in only one or two fields can prevent me from thinking outside the box and cause stagnation. I would really like to hear more opinions about this choice. The truth is I'm already leaning towards one of the choices, so basic psychology says nothing will change my mind, but I would still love to hear some feedback.

  • Crafting an effective php/web programmer job post template [closed]

    I am looking to create a job post to get a satisfactory assistant programmer / templater. Specifically, a php & web programmer. I am, however, afraid of forgetting important things. So, are there resources you can suggest for templates for things to ask and things to tell in a job post for a programmer? Surprisingly, I wasn't able to find similar questions on this site, so there may be duplicate questions out there that I could use but just didn't find. Right now I know that my -requirements- are so generic that they're going to get me in trouble with a spam of applications. e.g. the candidate must know php, must be able to seperate php from html. So I'm looking for criteria that are must-haves, must-mentions, or a general template to try to avoid a "lemon".   • Successful Fusion CRM Bootcamp in Paris - July 24-24th

    The first Fusion CRM Bootcamp for EMEA partners successfully took place in the Paris Pullmann Bercy hotel on July 24-26th. The agenda covered 14 Fusion CRM topics in depth, including detailed presentations and hands-on exercises, delivered by a team of Fusion CRM experts from Oracle Product Development. 89 participants represented 55 companies from 14 different countries, attended this event which was also a great opportunity to network with Oracle Product Development and Alliances & Channels executives during the breaks and the "Fusion Lounge" session each day after the training. As expressed by the participants in the event survey, the overall satisfaction reached to an impressive percentage of 85+ with the response of “met or exceeded the expectations” and with individual comments such as: On top of the presentation of Fusion CRM as a product, this event allowed to better understand Oracle's product and rollout strategy. The ability to meet the development team was really a bonus. Extremely valuable information given that enables integrators to go on the road of Fusion CRM Excellent organization, good product information coverage and demonstration Additional Fusion CRM bootcamps are planed across EMEA in the next quarters, although they will probably be under a different format which is still to be defined.

  • Can you recommend a good test plan template?

    Can you recommend a good test plan template for an agile testing team? I know there are templates for testing on the web and have already looked at some found by search engines, but I could really use something lightweight and something that has already been tried by skilled testers and is known to work well. Many templates I've seen give me the feeling that writing test documents is expected to be a third of the work that those testers are doing, but my team really prefers to use less documentation and more actual test writing. We use a wiki for documentation, so an approach that lends itself to living documents would be great. My hope is that using a more structured approach to test planning will increase the usefulness of my test plan while reducing the effort to create it by allowing me to think about the tests, and not the format and structure of the plan. My workplace does not have something already on hand, so whatever I start doing might be adopted by the company.

    I was wondering if anyone has come across any articles detailing how to set up a basic game in C++ for use in Android / IPhone / Desktop applications. My thoughts just now are that I would like to make my game as a library and have a different project for each device which just interfaces with this library. You know the kind of thing, bootstrap the program, call some library initialize, load and run routines and occasionally pass some information to the library like input. I was hoping someone would have made a template for this kind of thing but I just had no luck finding one. It seems to me that it's the kind of thing you really only have to do once, so I was hoping someone would have done it for me already.
