  • CComPtr CoCreateInstance returns 0x80070582 (Class already exists.)

    - by Trevor Balcom
I have a StartComObjects function called when the user presses the Login button and a StopComObjects function called when the user presses the Cancel button. The StartComObjects function uses CComPtr.CoCreateInstance to create the COM object and sets up some connection points using AfxConnectionAdvise. When the user presses the Cancel button the connection points are disconnected using AfxConnectionUnadvise and the COM object is stopped before calling Release on the CComPtr. When I press the login button a second time the CComPtr.CoCreateInstance returns 0x80070582 (Class already exists). This prevents the COM object from being created on the second call to StartComObjects. I am not sure why this isn't working. Shouldn't CComPtr::Release free the COM object and allow me to create a new one after the old one was stopped? Is there any way to get around this?

  • Actionscript 3 reflection class questions

    - by VPDD
I found this reflection class: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/reflect_class_as3.html However, I have some questions about it. Let´s say I have a moviclip named “ref_mc”, to add a reflection I use: import com.pixelfumes.reflect.*; var r1:Reflect = new Reflect({mc:ref_mc, alpha:50, ratio:50, distance:0, updateTime:0, reflectionDropoff:1}); Now, the questions: 1) How do I update the parameters for the reflection r1 after it is created? 2) Is there a way to check whether the movieclip “ref_mc” already has a reflection? 3) Anyone has the .fla for the example with bars adjustments and code sample shown on the page (it is not on the download .zip)? Thanks in advance.

  • Is there a way to circumvent Python list.append() becoming progressively slower in a loop as the lis

    - by Deniz
I have a big file I'm reading from, and convert every few lines to an instance of an Object. Since I'm looping through the file, I stash the instance to a list using list.append(instance), and then continue looping. This is a file that's around ~100MB so it isn't too large, but as the list grows larger, the looping slows down progressively. (I print the time for each lap in the loop). This is not intrinsic to the loop ~ when I print every new instance as I loop through the file, the program progresses at constant speed ~ it is only when I append them to a list it gets slow. My friend suggested disabling garbage collection before the while loop and enabling it afterward & making a garbage collection call. Did anyone else observe a similar problem with list.append getting slower? Is there any other way to circumvent this?

  • WMI: Create Method of the Win32_Service Class

    - by Marco
Hello, I'm trying to use the Create method of the Win32_Service class, but when I call the InvokeMethod, I receive this exception: System.Management.ManagementException: Invalid method at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExtendedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode) at System.Management.ManagementObject.InvokeMethod(String methodName, ManagementBaseObject inParameters, InvokeMethodOptions options) at <StartupCode$FSI_0075>.$FSI_0075.main@() This is the code (in F# but it is understable for C# programmers too :)): let scope = new ManagementScope(@"root\cimv2", null) use imageService = Utility.getServiceObject scope "Win32_Service" use inParams = imageService.GetMethodParameters("Create") inParams.["Name"] <- name inParams.["DisplayName"] <- displayName inParams.["PathName"] <- pathName inParams.["ServiceType"] <- 0x10 // Own Process inParams.["ErrorControl"] <- 0 // User is not notified inParams.["StartMode"] <- "Automatic" inParams.["DesktopInteract"] <- false inParams.["StartName"] <- "LocalSystem" inParams.["StartPassword"] <- "" inParams.["ServiceDependencies"] <- null use outParams = imageService.InvokeMethod("Create", inParams, null) The exception is thrown when the last line is executed (I removed the next lines). I think I'm calling correctly the method, so I don't know why the exception is thrown. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance, Marco

  • Spring.net is not injecting chained base class properties!

    - by JohnIdol
I am successfully injecting base class properties with spring.net with just a class that inherits from a base abstract class. Lets say Class MyClass : MyBase, and I am successfully setting a property like this: <object id="myInstantiableClass" type="myAssembly.MyClass myAssenbly" abstract="true"> <property name="MyBaseClassProperty" ref="anotherObjRef"></property> </object> Where MyBaseClassProperty is a property on the base class. Now I have another abstract class between the old base class and the instantiable class, and I am trying to set properties on both the abstract classes. So MyClass : MyNewBaseClass, and MyNewBaseClass : MyBaseClass. I have an additional property on the new base class (MyNewBaseClassProperty) and I am trying to inject it like this: <object id="myInstantiableClass" type="myAssembly.MyClass myAssenbly" abstract="true"> <property name="MyBaseClassProperty" ref="anotherObjRef"></property> <property name="MyNewBaseClassProperty" ref="someOtherObjRef"></property> </object> The property on the old base class is being injected but the one on the new one is not - and I am not getting an error or anything (so I am pretty sure my config is good), that property is just null! Any help appreciated! P.S. I am on asp.net (not MVC) but I don't think it's related.

  • Documenting module/class/function bodies in python sphinx docs

    - by perrierism
Is there a way with Sphinx documentation to output a function or class body (the code itself) with the autodoc feature? I'm using autodoc to much success. In addition to the docstrings getting pulled in to the documentation I want like a link to click for each function where it will show you the source... is that possible? This is about what most of my documentation looks like now: .. module:`foo.mymodule` Title =================== .. automodule:: foo.mymodule .. autoclass:: MyModulesClass :members: :undoc-members:

  • Finding out all about Android Uri class - use and purpose

    - by Peter vdL
Does anyone have some helpful links to find out about Android Uri's? For example, you get a Uri back from a "take a picture" Intent. What does a URI look like and how do you use it. Why are they used instead of filenames or file handles? The Dev documentation on the Uri class is practically worthless. http://developer.android.com/reference/android/net/Uri.html It is only clear if you already know exactly what it is, and how to use it. Thanks for any links.

  • Load properties file in JAR?

    - by apryor48
I'm having trouble when one of the jars that my web app depends on tries to load a properties file from within the jar. Here is the code in the jar. static { Properties props = new Properties(); try { props.load(ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream("someProps.properties")); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } someProperty = props.getProperty("someKey"); } The properties file is in my "src/main/resources" directory of the Maven project. When I run this code from my junit test in Eclipse, it executes just fine. When the project is built with Maven into a jar, and included as a dependency in my webb app, it fails to locate the properties file. I know that the properties file is at the base directory of the depended on jar, I don't know how to fix this. Please help!

  • Reference a internal class from a Windows Workflow Activity

    - by Ben Hughes
I'm creating a custom Workflow activity for use within TFS2010. In the same assembly I have a XAML activity and a C# code activity. The XAML activity references the code activity. When the assembly is deployed to our clients, I only want them to be able to use the Workflow activity. The code activity is of little use by itself and would no doubt confuse them. I thought the logical way to do this would be to set the code activity class to internal: the XAML is in the same assembly and should be able to access it. However, when I do that I get an error in the XAML saying that the assembly can't be found. Is there a way to make activities internal/hidden?

  • Calling Status Bar notification from method from other class.

    - by Jez Fischer
Firstly, I am new to both android and Java. I have two classes, my main.class and Note.class. I am calling the notification method from my Note.class in my main.class when i press a button. The issue is with this line from the Note.class : PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, notificationIntent, 0); notification.setLatestEventInfo(context, contentTitle, contentText, contentIntent); When the method is called it force closes. I believe the problem to be with the "this" in PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, notificationIntent, 0);, but I am unsure what to change it to. The notification code works fine if it's in the main class. I would be very grateful for any guidance. Edit: Main class : http://pastebin.com/05Yx0a48 Note.class : package com.adamblanchard.remindme.com.adamblanchard; import com.adamblanchard.remindme.R; import android.app.Activity; import android.app.Notification; import android.app.NotificationManager; import android.app.PendingIntent; import android.content.Context; import android.content.Intent; import android.os.Bundle; public class Note extends Activity { public CharSequence note = "not changed"; int HELLO_ID = 1; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); setTitle("Remind Me!"); } //Notification Method public void callNotification() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub String ns = Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE; final NotificationManager mNotificationManager = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(ns); int icon = R.drawable.launcher; CharSequence tickerText = "Remind Me!"; long when = System.currentTimeMillis(); final Notification notification = new Notification(icon, tickerText, when); notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL; final Context context = getApplicationContext(); CharSequence contentTitle = "Remind Me!"; CharSequence contentText = note; Intent notificationIntent = new Intent(context, AndroidNotifications.class); PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, notificationIntent, 0); notification.setLatestEventInfo(context, contentTitle, contentText, contentIntent); mNotificationManager.notify(HELLO_ID, notification); HELLO_ID++; } } Debug Output : Thread [<1 main] (Suspended (exception IllegalStateException)) Note(Activity).getSystemService(String) line: 3536 Note.callNotification() line: 37 remindme$1$1.onClick(DialogInterface, int) line: 72 AlertDialog(AlertController$ButtonHandler).handleMessage(Message) line: 159 AlertController$ButtonHandler(Handler).dispatchMessage(Message) line: 99 Looper.loop() line: 123 ActivityThread.main(String[]) line: 3647 Method.invokeNative(Object, Object[], Class, Class[], Class, int, boolean) line: not available [native method] Method.invoke(Object, Object...) line: 507 ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run() line: 839 ZygoteInit.main(String[]) line: 597 NativeStart.main(String[]) line: not available [native method] This is the debug output I get, plus a force close popup on the device. I have a pure ActionScript project. I'm using Flex Builder on a Mac, Flex SDK 3.4 and I've even added the playerglobal.swc from the Flash folder to the project's library path. I get autocomplete when I add import flash.net.NetStreamPlayOptions; import flash.net.NetStreamPlayTransitions; But when I run the movie, I get: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.net::NetStreamPlayOptions could not be found. I don't get it.. What must I do to use those classes?

  • Why do the overloads of String.Format exist?

    - by GiddyUpHorsey
I was using Reflector to look at the implementation of String.Format and had always been under the impression that the overloads of String.Format that took 1, 2 & 3 arguments were optimized versions of the method that takes an object array. However, what I found was that internally they create an object array and then call a method that takes an object array. 1 arg public static string Format(string format, object arg0) { if (format == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("format"); } return Format(null, format, new object[] { arg0 }); } 2 args public static string Format(string format, object arg0, object arg1) { if (format == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("format"); } return Format(null, format, new object[] { arg0, arg1 }); } 3 args public static string Format(string format, object arg0, object arg1, object arg2) { if (format == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("format"); } return Format(null, format, new object[] { arg0, arg1, arg2 }); } Object array public static string Format(string format, params object[] args) { if ((format == null) || (args == null)) { throw new ArgumentNullException((format == null) ? "format" : "args"); } return Format(null, format, args); } Internally they all end up using the same code and so using the 1, 2 & 3 argument versions are no faster than the object array version. So my question is - why do they exist? When you use the object array version with a comma separated list of values, the compiler automatically converts the arguments into an object array because of the params/ParamArray keyword which is essentially what the 1, 2 & 3 versions do, so they seem redundant. Why did the BCL designers add these overloads?

  • String method crashes program...

    - by TimothyTech
    Alright so i have two identical string methods... string CreateCust() { string nameArray[] ={"Tom","Timo","Sally","Kelly","Bob","Thomas","Samantha","Maria"}; int d = rand() % (8 - 1 + 1) + 1; string e = nameArray[d]; return e; } string CreateFood() { string nameArray[] = {"spagetti", "ChickenSoup", "Menudo"}; int d = rand() % (3 - 1 + 1) + 1; string f = nameArray[d]; return f; } however no matter what i do it the guts of CreateFood it will always crash. i created a test chassis for it and it always fails at the cMeal = CreateFood(); Customer Cnow; cout << "test1" << endl; cMeal = Cnow.CreateFood(); cout << "test1" << endl; cCustomer = Cnow.CreateCust(); cout << "test1" << endl; i even switched CreateCust with CreateFood and it still fails at the CreateFood Function... NOTE: if i make createFood a int method it does work...

  • How can I use CSS pseudo-classes with GWT's UiBinder?

I've been using the in-line styles approach as recommended by GWT's UiBinder documentation. I'm puzzled, though, about how to use CSS pseudo-classes with UiBinder; for example, suppose I would otherwise (without UiBinder) have this CSS rule: #myLink:hover { background:blue } Can I implement that rule in UiBinder?

  • how iterate over class members java (app-engine)

    - by Alexandre H. Tremblay
Hello, I am using the java version of the google app engine. I would like to create a function that can receive as parameters many types of objects. I would like to print out the members of the object. Each objects may be different and the function must work for all objects. Do I have to use reflection - if so, what kind of code do I need to write? public class dataOrganization { private String name; private String contact; private PostalAddress address; public dataOrganization(){} } public int getObject(Object obj){ // This function prints out the name of every // member of the object, the type and the value // In this example, it would print out "name - String - null", // "contact - String - null" and "address - PostalAddress - null" } How would I write the function getObject?

  • Using "class/object" MooTools-style events in jQuery

    - by Infinity
One of the nice things about MooTools, is that it lets you easily assign/fire events to objects, for example: var playerSingleton = new (new Class({ Implements: [Events], initialize: function() {}, setVolume: function() { // do some stuff.. this.fireEvent('volumeChanged') } })); // Somewhere else... playerSingleton.addEvent('volumeChanged', function() { // do something when volume changes }); playerSingleton.setVolume(75); // bam our event fires. How would something like this be done with jQuery? I know there's .bind and .trigger, but it seems like the only way to do this is to bind/fire events to the window object: $(window).bind('volumeChanged', fn); Is there anything better than this, more like the MooTools approach? Thanks!

  • Spring constructor injection of SLF4J logger - how to get injection target class?

    - by disown
I'm trying to use Spring to inject a SLF4J logger into a class like so: @Component public class Example { private final Logger logger; @Autowired public Example(final Logger logger) { this.logger = logger; } } I've found the FactoryBean class, which I've implemented. But the problem is that I cannot get any information about the injection target: public class LoggingFactoryBean implements FactoryBean<Logger> { @Override public Class<?> getObjectType() { return Logger.class; } @Override public boolean isSingleton() { return false; } @Override public Logger getObject() throws Exception { return LoggerFactory.getLogger(/* how do I get a hold of the target class (Example.class) here? */); } } Is FactoryBean even the right way to go? When using picocontainers factory injection, you get the Type of the target passed in. In guice it is a bit trickier. But how do you accomplish this in Spring?

  • Creating Instance of a DataContract Class on the client side

    - by hgulyan
I'm not sure, if it's right to do this, but I'd like to ask this question again ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2498644/creating-instance-of-a-service-side-datacontract-class-on-client-side-in-wcf ). The main question is - why there's difference between creating instance on the client side and creating it on the server side? Why there're some properties, that lose their values when you create them on the client side and pass it to service's functions? What could be the issue? Any version will be appreciated. I've written about my problem in the update part of the question in that link. Thank You. p.s. If this is against the rules, I'll delete it.

  • Java 'Prototype' pattern - new vs clone vs class.newInstance

    - by Guillaume
In my project there are some 'Prototype' factories that create instances by cloning a final private instance. The author of those factories says that this pattern provides better performance than calling 'new' operator. Using google to get some clues about that, I've found nothing really relevant about that. Here is a small excerpt found in a javdoc from an unknown project javdoc from an unknown project Sadly, clone() is rather slower than calling new. However it is a lot faster than calling java.lang.Class.newInstance(), and somewhat faster than rolling our own "cloner" method. For me it's looking like an old best practice of the java 1.1 time. Does someone know more about this ? Is this a good practice to use that with 'modern' jvm ?
