• Does Apache allow to authorize an HTTP request based on a result of a subrequest?

  I'm looking for an equivalent of nginx http auth request module but for Apache. For each incoming HTTP requests, the module sends a subrequests to authentication/authorization back-end. Th auth request carries a path and all headers of the original request. Based on the result of the auth request, the original requests is allowed (HTTP code 200), denied (HTTP code 403) or login is requested (HTTP code 401). Such a generic mechanism allows to build really flexible authentication and authorization schemes. Is something like this possible in Apache (likely with a help of some third party module)?

  I am running Ubuntu 12.04. As you might know Google Earth 7 doesn't work in Ubuntu 12.04 yet. I installed Google Earth via make-googleearth-package --force command. My installation was saccesful. At the beginning everything was working fine. But after some days I had a problem. When I type in "Fly to" box a city I wanted to search for it. It gives me "invalid HTTP request" error as seen in the picture: How to solve? P.S: I removed and reinstalled it but problem still consists. I can search globe via mouse only.

• What will be the impact on SEO if we remove our SSL certificate (url become http instead of https)?

  For some weird reason, our domain's content is returned for any https request set to any of our server's hosted domain names. https://domain.com leads to our website, with a proper SSL certificate (so, no warning). https://domain2.com, also hosted on our server but without SSL certificate, leads to a warning, and if accepted, to our website's content! The problem is that any search for our keywords in Google shows "fake websites" on top of ours, with the warning et al. It seems unsolvable so we are thinking about switching back ton nonsecure http . I'm just afraid of losing whatever indexing we have. How can i avoid that? Thanks, a.

• IIS throws HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable after installation of windows 8

  I was using IIS7.5 on Windows 7. Everything worked great. I then installed Windows 8. The shortcut link to my IIS7.5 stopped working, because all this was apparently moved to a windows.old folder. I had to install IIS8 via the 'turn Windows features on/off'. After I did that, I saw my sites again and everything looked ok, until I browsed to a site and got the error: Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable. I restarted IIS, restarted my PC, restarted the single site, but the problem remains. I also tried looking at the event logs. My eventlogs used to be in C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC4, but I don't see any log of today in there. Maybe that has changed with the new IIS as well? If so, where are the eventlogs now or where can I see where they should be saved?

  I have to following situation: I had an old blog that was made using Joomla (this blog was indexed well enough by search engines). For some problems I delete it and I have create it again using WordPress. Now I have many visit (from Google) that leading to specific pages of the old site (pages that don't exist in the new version). For example I have visit to URL as: /scorejava/index.php/corso-spring-mvc/1-test that don't exist on my new site. I would know if using the .htaccess file (or other sistem) I can redirect the HTTP request directed to some subfolder (that don't exist in the new version) to the homepage of my new site. For example I have the request towards the void URL: /scorejava/index.php/corso-spring-mvc/1-test. And I would create a regular expression that say something like: all the request toward the subfolder corso-spring-mvc (and all it's content file and subfolder) have to be redirected to www.scorejava.com. Is it possible?

• Installing a .deb file manually?

  apt-get install gitosis --fix-missing on my Linode still leads to a 404 (Failed to fetch http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gitosis/gitosis_0.2+20080825-2_all.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 130.89.148.12 80] ) . The correct file location seems to be http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gitosis/gitosis_0.2+20090917-11_all.deb Is there any way I can install this without apt-get, or point apt-get in the right direction somehow? • Unable to download .apk via webbrowser from drupal site

  I have a drupal-based website where people can log in and see private discussion forums. This is where I want to have my beta testers for my Android application download the beta .apk files. I tested this thoroughly on my Android 1.6 based myTouch 3G, and was able to log in, and download files attached to forum posts without problems. Now comes the interesting part: my testers on Droids and Nexus Ones (Android 2.0.1 and 2.1) were complaining that their downloads are failing. Since I don't have an 2.0 phone, I tried it out in a 2.0 emulator, and lo-and-behold, it didn't work. The download shows the indeterminate progress for a second or two, then shows "Download unsuccessful". Based on what I see in the logs, it is apparent that the server is returning a 404 for the download request from 2.0 browsers. I can download to my desktop and 1.6 phone no problem. The only reason I can think of that the server would return a 404 for a request is that for some reason the credentials or cookies aren't being passed by the download process.   I'm unable to retrieve data from an XML document, any help is greatly appreciated. I'm using PHP 5.2.10 and the WSDL url is an internal link within my company. • How can I properly handle 404s in ASP.NET MVC?

  I am just getting started on ASP.NET MVC so bear with me. I've searched around this site and various others and have seen a few implementations of this. EDIT: I forgot to mention I am using RC2 Using URL Routing: routes.MapRoute( "Error", "{*url}", new { controller = "Errors", action = "NotFound" } //404s ); The above seems to take care of requests like this (assuming default route tables setup by initial MVC project): "/blah/blah/blah/blah" Overriding HandleUnknownAction() in the controller itself: //404s - handle here (bad action requested protected override void HandleUnknownAction(string actionName) { ViewData["actionName"] = actionName; View("NotFound").ExecuteResult(this.ControllerContext); } However the previous strategies do not handle a request to a Bad/Unknown controller. For example, I do not have a "/IDoNotExist", if I request this I get the generic 404 page from the web server and not my 404 if I use routing + override. So finally, my question is: Is there any way to catch this type of request using a route or something else in the MVC framework itself? OR should I just default to using Web.Config customErrors as my 404 handler and forget all this? I assume if I go with customErrors I'll have to store the generic 404 page outside of /Views due to the Web.Config restrictions on direct access. Anyway any best practices or guidance is appreciated.

• Authlogic OpenID: Fetching E-Mail from Provider.

  This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first.   Hey guys I hope you can help me out here. I have an Ngingx parsing http and https to a varnish cache(3.0.2). From the varnish it is sent to apache2. Now I have for some time been tracking some strange 503 errors. But I cant seem to find the silver bullet. Currently I am logging the 503 errors through varnish this way: sudo varnishlog -c -m TxStatus:503 >> /home/rj/varnishlog503.log and then referring to the apache access log to see if any 503 requests have been handled. So I am confused. Is this varnish throwing a 503 because it thinks apache is to slow? There is a lot traffic coming through at this point so I know the server is up and running. Even in the morning when the server dosen't seem to be doing anything. This is my configuration for one of the backend servers. backend xenon { .host = "192.168.3.187"; .port = "80"; .probe = { .url = "/health-check/"; .interval = 3s; .window = 5; .threshold = 2; } } I'm running prefork module on apache2 with this configuration <IfModule mpm_prefork_module> StartServers 1 MinSpareServers 2 MaxSpareServers 5 MaxClients 200 MaxRequestsPerChild 75 </IfModule> and only PHP files is sent to the server. Every other static file is handled by Nginx. • Is it possible to rewrite some query strings to HTTPS and keep everything else on HTTP?

  I'm rewriting query strings to pretty URIs, example: index.php?q=/en/contact becomes /en/contact and all works nicely.. # httpd.conf # HANDLE THE QUERY RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA] Is it even possible to rewrite single queries to force https and force everything else onto http? I've tried many different approaches that typically end in infinate loops. I could write a plugin to do this in PHP but figured it would be more effecient to handle this in the server conf. I'd be greatful for any advice. EDIT: To clarify, I'd like to be able to rewrite the non SSL http://example.com/index.php?q=/en/contact to the SSL enabled https://example.com/en/contact and every query that is not /en/contact get written to http://example.com/...

• PHP5 giving failed to open stream: HTTP request failed error when using fopen.

  Hello everyone. This problem seems to have been discussed in the past everywhere on google and here, but I have yet to find a solution. A very simple fopen gives me a PHP Warning: fopen(http://www.google.ca): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!". The URL I am fetching have no importance because even when I fetch http://www.google.com it doesnt work. The exact same script works on different server. The one failing is Ubuntu 10.04 and PHP 5.3.2. This is not a problem in my script, it's something different in my server or it might be a bug in PHP. I have tried using a user_agent in php.ini but no success. My allow_url_fopen is set to On. If you have any ideas, feel free!
