QUESTION: How an I develop this now such that it would be easy to migrate to a model where the data layer is abstracted via a HTTP web-service or REST interface? For example would just use of a standard C# interface with a Factory to obtain a concrete implementation of the interface where this uses ADO.net be the best? thanks

  • How do I allow inline images with data urls on .NET 4 without triggering request validation?

    I'm using the jQuery jstree plugin (http://jstree.com) in a ASP.NET MVC 2 project on .NET 4 RC. It comes with some stylesheets with inline images with data urls, like this: .tree-checkbox ul { background-image:url(data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAgACAIAAAB4dGf///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAACAAIAAAICRF4AOw==); } Now, the url for the background image contains a colon, which .NET 4 thinks is an unsafe character, so I get this error message: A potentially dangerous Request.Path value was detected from the client (:). According to the documentation, I am supposed to be able to prevent this by adding <pages validateRequest="false" /> to my Web.config, but that doesn't seem to help. I have tried adding it to the main Web.config for the application, as well as to a special Web.config in the /config folder, but to no avail. Is there any way to get .NET to allow this?

With this information I will write in my log table information of which record was changed, by whom and what was the value of old and new. If I instantiate an object before: db.Entry(chamados).State = EntityState.Modified; I can even compare, but this error appears at runtime. *An object with the same key already exists in the ObjectStateManager.     I am looking at a job with a great company and in a field that I really want to be in. Unfortunalty, what they want is someone with "experience with ASP (VB), T-SQL in a production environment." But I've never done anything except with FOSS tools: C, Ruby(straight and RoR), Perl, MySQL, et c. I'm thinking that I could probably pick up VB without much trouble (I took a class that used it on college, was impressed at how easy it was to construct Windows UIs, but I've never needed it) Is there any way that I can demonstrate that my experience is similar? What would equivalent experience be in the FOSS world?

    Assume I want to generate an element similar to this in ASP.NET MVC 2: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(p => p.FooBar)%> Is there an overload or way I can get ASP.NET MVC 2 to only generate a name attribute and not an ID attribute? I can have it generate a blank id with <%= Html.TextBoxFor(p => p.FooBar, new { id = "" })%>, but I would like to generate the element with no ID at all, and without overriding the asp.net mvc framework.

  • How do I determine the .NET framwork version in a partial/medium trust environment?

    I need to determine the clients .NET framework version in my web application. I'm running in partial trust so I can not read the filesystem or registry (Is there an easy way to check .net framework verison using C#?). System.Environment.Version returns the runtime version, so I can not use that. I cannot use javascript The only way I can think of at the moment is to try to load a .NET 3.5 dll and catch an exception, but this does not sound very nice. Any suggestions?

    I just heard about BDD when I watch video of Scott Guthrie in Sweden. One of listener asked question to Scott about How VS2010 and ASP.NET MVC do to support BDD. After that, I search about BDD (Behavior Driven Development) that focus on specification more than unit testing when compares with TDD (Test Driven Development). I found some framework that work with Ruby and Java. But I do not any famous framework for .NET. Please suggest me about BDD framework and summary PROs/CONs of it. PS. Suggested BDD framework must work great on .NET 4, C# 4.0 and ASP.NET MVC 2. Thanks,

    I downloaded the .NET 4 framework from miscrosoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992&displaylang=en I installed and rebooted. When I go to compile options -- target framework... .NET 4 isn't on the list. Is .net 4 not compatible with VS2008? It would be nice if Microsoft stated that somewhere...

  • Problem with MVC3 application

    I am working on MVC3 application. I use entity framework, NInject, Fluent Validation and some more Nuget packages. I am using Tortoise SVN for versioning. Recently I changed the structure of my SVN repository, so my working copy of MVC3 app was moved to some different folder in the repository. Now when I checked out the copy from SVN, all the references that I had added through Nuget were lost(EF, NInject and rest nuget packages were showing yellow missing icon in references). This had happened to me prior to this also, when I tried to check out the app from svn to some other folder. I had to manually add all the references again through Nuget again. Am I doing anything wrong? Please guide. I hope I could explain my problem properly.

    I've made my choice for the developement components on the .NET platform: Spring.NET for IoC and NHibernate for data access. But how safe is it? I've heard here on SO (don't remember which post exactly) that Spring.NET is on its way down, cause for example the Java original version is developed by a large number of people; but (they say that) the sole person behind the .NET version is Mr. Mark Pollack. Is that so? And, if so, does it still make sense to count on Spring.NET for my production applications? if you have similar information about NHibernate, I'll appreciate it; though it seems that the latter is actively supported.

PS: My understanding of framework (e.g. SpringMVC) is that you follow rule of framework to configure your app. and then framework take care or linking your View, controller and model. so if i am using netbeans, do i need to take care of linking of my MVC by myself?

    A standard state-of-the-art project requires at least jsf + spring + faces palette + orm. That's a lot of stuff. Also frameworks like spring misses to bring to the point of starting developing. Otherwise, things like spring-roo wuoldn't even exist. The solution to this may be buy support. Have dedicated people doing integration. Switch to ruby on rails. Switch to dot.net. Since this is a problem, I'm intrested in HOW people address this (java ee) specific concern.

  • Where Are the Release Versions of ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 Templating Files?

    I'm trying to get the production version of ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 Templating working and can't find the JavaScript files. With the beta version I needed to reference MicrosoftAjaxTemplates.js, MicrosoftAjaxAdoNet.js, and MicrosoftAjaxDataContext.js. I can get everything to work with the beta CDN versions (e.g. http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/beta/0911/MicrosoftAjaxTemplates.js). But for the life of me I can't find 1. The release CDN versions of these files or 2. Where to download the whole Release ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 JavaScript package. The files certainly are not listed on the ASP.Net AJAX 4.0 CDN at http://www.asp.net/ajaxlibrary/CDNAjax4.ashx. Maybe the files have been renamed? Theoretically this should be a rediculously easy question and I'm a little embarrased to even ask it on StackOverflow, but I've had no luck finding an answer on my own.   • MultiActionController no longer receiving requests?

    I was attempting to make changes to my controller, and all of a sudden, I no longer seem to receive any requests (404 when attempting to hit the servlet mapped URLs). I'm sure I've broken my web.xml or app-servlet.xml, but I just don't see where. I can access index.jsp from tomcat (http://IP/app/index.jsp), but I can't get my servlet mapping to work correctly.
