    I 'm going to purchase new PC. due to my budget limit either i can purchase 2 x 2GB = 4GB DDR 2 or 2 GB Single stick DDR 3. Will 2 GB DDR 3 will give almost same performane compare to 4 GB DDR 2? In future I will upgrade RAM upto 8 GB Which option would be better for me for now and why?

  • Default uTorrent upload limits?

    I am using uTorrent for my torrents and when I open a new torrent with utorrent, I must manually right click the item click on bandwidth allocation set it to HIGH then I must repat the first 2 steps again and then go to click on Set upload limit and click the proper desired amount which for me is 1 Kb/s This is very annoying to do this on every single torrent, is there a way to have these set as the default values in utorrent?

  • Why do Chinese filenames displays as boxes in Windows 7?

    I'm running Windows 7 Professional (UK), and trying to get filenames containing Chinese characters to display correctly in Explorer. I can create Chinese filenames in explorer by pasting text from a webpage or using the Chinese IME to rename files, but the characters just display as boxes (Unicode 'missing character' glyph). The Chinese fonts are installed on the system, and web pages display OK in the browser. In particular, I can see the correct Chinese filenames by pointing chrome at file://C:\, for example.

    I want to run script when my mac is idle (for example after 5 minutes or screen saver start time is also ok) and when I resume it from idle state. I know that I can write daemon using NSDistributedNotificationCenter and com.apple.screenIsLocked and com.apple.screenIsUnlocked, but I hope that there is already solution without creating new daemon. I need this to for example turn on/off speed limit for Transmission (as it is sometimes hard to work when hashing/downloading on full speed).

    i have hosted w2003 RRAS in my network succesfully ( Natting with one public IP ) i need to host another RRAS setup same like above with different private IP address and public IP's,. when i configured so, both w2003 servers got frozen and internet not working. sometimes the gateway is same for both the servers.     I am looking after a sever that is managing the downloads of software updates released by the company where I work. The throttle in IIS7 seems to limit the total rate and not the rate each individual download gets. I was thnking on installing media services, adding .zip as a type and then throttling the individual connection rate based on what I read. Is this how this sort of thing is done with IIS7?

    We've been hitting the max open files limit on a few services recently. There are also a bunch of other limits in place. Is there a way to monitor how close processes are to these limits so we can be alerted when it's time to either up the limits or fix the root cause? On the same note, is it possible to view a log of these events so we know when a crash occurs it's because of hitting one of these limits?

Can I use a packet sniffer here to determine if the user is downloading something? Can I determine if the user is downloading a file based on the modem alone.(The lights blink faster) Is there an application that I could use for the modem or the hub to limit or avoid direct downloads.     I have MySQL running on a 32-bit RHEL box. The server itself has 4GB total memory with 2GB allocated to MySQL. I would like to know the max amount of memory I can put in the box and how much of that I can allocate to MySQL. I have heard both 2GB and 4GB as the per-process-limit on a 32-bit OS... Ultimately I'd like to know if I can increase the memory for MySQL without upgrading to a 64-bit OS.

    One of our customers habitually use very long path names (several nested folders, with long names) and we routinely encounter "user education issues" in order to shorten the path to less than 260 characters. Is there a technical solution available, can we flick some sort of switch in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 to say "yeah just ignore these historical problems, and make +260 character path name work". For example, if I hit ';', then 'a' (while in the modern Greek keyboard layout), I get this character: ?. However, I can't figure out how to add the other accents (` and ^, for example).
